EPISODE 55
“During the party, Greta added some poisonous herbs in Queen’s tea and that caused her a severe bleeding”
“Queen panicked and told my grandmother about it”
“So, Greta brou-ght Queen to the hospital. And, the condition became serious that the Queen had miscarriage. At that time there was no technology or advanced medical treatment, so the doctors failed to identify what actually has happened”
“Greta was somehow connected to the doctors there and she somehow made them lie to the Queen that her body was really not suitable to give birth.”
“So, they prescribed her some herbal medicines to recover. However, they aren’t medicines but some poisonous items that could harm the reproductive system.”
“Meanwhile worried that the King might get furious, The Queen asked Greta not to tell anyone about this. Greta agreed. She knew that these medicines Queen was using will totally destroy her reproductive system”
“So, my vicious grandmother patiently waited for that to happen. And when that doctors told her that she could proceed with her plan, Greta suggested King to take the Queen for check up”
“Almost two years pa-ssed after they married. Though they were trying hard, they couldn’t get pregnant. However, they didn’t want to make a fuss about it, so he got her checked by the doctor Greta knows and that doctor lied that she was fine. He didn’t take her to hospital afraid it would get leaked and people would start speculating”
“Meanwhile, my grandfather was getting pressured from his parents who were already believing that the Queen was really a ‘jinx’.”
“So, left with no option, he took his first wife for check up to the hospital. And it was only when that doctors said that his wife’s reproductive system was not at all healthy and she could not give birth”
“However, my grandfather didn’t agree to marry anyone else. He said, they could adopt a child from branch family”
“He truly loved his first wife and he didn’t want to marry others just because she could not give birth. And, that was when Greta secretly spreaded the news that ‘Queen’ didn’t want children and that she deliberately ab-orted her first child, and that, in that process of ab-orting the child, her reproductive system got damaged and weakened” Ethan narrated.
“When King heard that, he got furious. His first wife begged, swearing that she didn’t do it intentionally. However the proofs against her claim were so strong that King couldn’t believe her anymore”
“His love for his wife turned into hate and he immediately divorced her, banished her off the Kingdom. He felt betrayed, depressed and fooled.”
“Like that, the bride selection event happened again and my grandmother won it. Like this she became Queen. After she became Queen, she made sure there won’t be any evidence of this. However, I managed to pull the strings somehow” Ethan finished.
Meanwhile, Brina sat there, frozen.
So.. So… inhumane.
For a woman, motherhood is a blessing. Greta just took it away from an innocent woman!!
So inhumane and vicious!
She never thought Greta could be this bad!
No wonder God didn’t give her a happy married life. She remembers what Louis told her once.
His father never had a happy childhood because his parents always fought.
And, that is the reason King Edgar married the woman he loved and encouraged both of his sons to do the same.
Moreover it also explains why Greta loathed the Queens who got second position, yet, got selected as queen’s.
For example, Louis’s biological mother, Queen Rhea and his step mother, the current Queen, Queen Elora. And, who got the first rank back then was Olivia’s mother and her mother’s elder sister.
It also explained why Greta supported Olivia and her family because they always were first and as vicious as her. A perfect match!
“The black mail?” Brina asked Ethan, her voice shaky. She could feel her light head taking over her.
She felt like she would faint now. This information is so overwhelming and disturbing that it started taking over her.
“If the black mail was about this, I would have told you, Brina. Unfortunately it is about something else. I am still looking into it. I got sidetracked while I investigated this matter, thinking that this could be the blackmailing piece Olivia’s grandfather used on her” Ethan said.
“And, please don’t tell this to anyone, Brina. I don’t want Dad to know that he was born to such a loathsome woman” he asked.
“Why not? She is a criminal Ethan. And I am sure father won’t appreciate this.” Brina argued. Angry!
Greta is more than a criminal. Being pregnant, Brina couldn’t get herself to digest this. She never thought Greta could be this inhumane.
“But what will happen now, Huh? She is harmless now and doesn’t have power to do this sort of thing anymore. By revealing the truth, we will only hurt my dad” Ethan retorted.
“You won’t un-derstand,” he scoffed, making Brina more angry.
She doesn’t un-derstand?? No one could un-derstand it better than her now.
“What makes you think that she is powerless, idiot? She wouldn’t have been able to help Olivia if she doesn’t have that power” Brina argued.
“You can’t un-derestimate her,” she added, scoffing at him.
But she is shaking. Her body is trembling.
How could she be so negligent? She had let Greta play her game and almost had her win it.
A tear rolled down her cheek when she remembered that she had a little life in her.
What if.. What if… Greta did.. did this to her as well. And, what if…. What if she was already in Greta’s trap?
Her baby.. Her baby…
Has the history already got repeated? She knows her case wouldn’t be as worse as that of the Queen’s.
But, her baby?
Is it safe?
Or, already got poisoned?
“Hey, what’s wrong, why are you crying?” Ethan asked, alarmed.
And, before he could speak more, Brina fainted.
Ethan reacted quickly and immediately caught her in his arms before she landed on the floor.
“Why did she faint? I never thought she was emotionally fragile” she said to himself, worried.
He gently lifted her and made her lie down on the couch in his study room.
“Brina, wake up” he gently patted her we-t cheek but Brina didn’t move.
She just whimpered faintly, making Ethan even more worried. Her face is pale and she seems like she is about to get fever.
‘She seems to be in pain. I better call Louis’ Ethan worriedly thought as he looked at the fragile woman who was unconscious and crying.
Noticing that she is shivering a little as well, he called for a maid immediately. He made her place a pillow un-der Brina’s head and cover her legs with a blanket.
After the maid finished it, he ordered his guards to get his mother immediately.
After that he called his brother.
Tensed and worried.
He knows that his brother would freak out now and might lash at him as well. When he told Louis that Greta’s story is inhumane and disturbing, especially related to unborn babies, his brother, Louis warned not to tell this to Brina.
It was his fault for thinking of her as a strong woman and telling her this. Why would have thought that it would impact her this much? Brina is really confusing to un-derstand!!
Meanwhile, his eyes darted from Brina’s face to his mobile screen, hoping that his brother would pick up soon.
However, Louis rejected the call and sent him a message instead.
[Bro, I will call you later. I am out]
[Come fast!! Your wife fainted in my study room” Ethan texted back.]
And, as soon as Louis saw that message, he felt his heart almost stop. His fingers trembled and he immediately made a call to his brother.
His eyes are filled with worry and his heart beat increases erratically. He was in a meeting with officials in the military base, but, as soon as he got the message he excused himself and abruptly left the room.
“How? When did it happen? Did you call for the doctor? Did the doctor come?” Louis fired his questions as soon as the call got connected.
With the intensity of his voice, Ethan felt a chill down his spine.
His brother is so protective of his wife and he takes everything related to her very seriously.
“She just fainted while we were talking. And, you are the first person I called” Ethan answered, gulping down.
Even with the miles apart, Ethan could feel the overbearing aura of his brother now. Sometimes, he feels like his brother is too much, but he himself is like this when it comes to his wife, Natalie.
“Call the doctor,” Louis worriedly said.
But after a second of thinking, “No..not the doctor from our palace. I have my friend, a doctor from the US working just ten minutes away from the palace. Call him” he said, suddenly remembering that Royal medics have once worked for his grandmother during competitions.
“In the meantime, call mom or our sister or Katherine. I am heading back immediately and yeah, take good care of her, please” Louis said, his last sentence so pleading.
“I already did. Mom will be here soon and, don’t worry, we will take care of her. Just hurry back, okay? It will be good if you will be there when she wakes up” Ethan said, comforting his brother who seems scared, even though it’s just a fainting.
Ethan un-derstood his brother. They are over protective of their wife’s. It is because they lost their mother and that was a horrible time for both of them. They are afraid to face that pain again. That’s why they are like this and it couldn’t be helped.
“I will be there in half an hour” Louis answered and ended the call before ordering his people hurriedly.
Nothing is more important to him than his wife.
The roads were blocked and the traffic was stopped.
An hour of journey was halved to half an hour with all the roads and everything blocked.
Instead of using the highway, they used shortcuts.
….
Meanwhile…
“Good lord, what happened to Brina?” Elora asked as she hurriedly walked inside. She was in a council meeting but as soon as she got the message, she rushed as well.
Katherine and Eliina followed her, not so worried but concerned.
“Did you try to wake her up?” Elora asked her elder son as she sat beside Brina and placed her hand on her forehead.
Her face was hot but when she held her hand, it was normal. Sensing no fever she sighed in relief.
“Yeah, no fever mom. But she seems so shaken by something. I could see her eyes moving and she was worried about something. But she didn’t wake up when I tried to wake her up”Ethan answered equally worried.
“Ethan, did you call the doctor?” Katherine asked, worriedly peeking at Brina. Her heart started to ache for her friend.
She looked so pale and fragile. What made her so shaken?
“Louis didn’t want the Royal doctor to check her. After the Royal medics helped Olivia in the second event, Louis started not to trust anyone in place other than us” Ethan answered Katherine. .
“It’s a good thing. But why did she faint?” Katherine asked.
“What were you guys talking about then?” Elora asked.
Ethan scratched his hair, not knowing how to answer that.
And, at the same time, the doctor rushed inside.
After finding out that Royal medics are not at all reliable in loyalty matters, Louis specially requested one of the best doctors to work in Kingdom Aletros. He was a friend and one of the loyal friends to Louis.
So, he immediately agreed to help Louis till these trust issues are resolved in Kingdom
