đThe Curse Of Cainđ
Episode 11 & 12
A slam
He finally opened his eyes, trying to make s-en-se of why he was in the attic and why he was sitting that way andâŠ.everything c@mÂŁ back to him suddenly and he quic-kly lifted his head off her shoulders.
âForgive me, I do not know what c@mÂŁ over me all of a suddenâŠI am so sorry, I donât usually go about falling asleep on peopleâs shouldersâŠ.â He said apologetically, standing up.
Sonia stood up immediately too, trying to avoid his eyes as possibleâŠ
âItâs ok. You looked like you really nee-ded that sleep.â She said awkwardlyâŠhow would she be conversing with her captor?
âActuallyâŠitâs been years that I had such a sound sleep.â Calvin said truthfully, actually itâs been more than a century.
Sonia didnât know what to say so she just nodded slightly.
âI will appreciate it if you can keep pla-ying anytime you feel like, I will make arrangement to have the keyboard shifted to a place where you can easily reach it, if thatâs okay.â
Sonia nodded again
. âNo problem.â
Awkward silenceâŠâŠâŠ
âWhatever you nee-d, you can tell the woman, she will help you. Okay, good talk.â He said, nodded slightly and was about to leaveâŠ
âExcuse me âŠ.â
He st©pped as he heard her voice and then turned around.
âWhat is it?â
âIs there any chance that I am leaving this place soon?â Sonia finally asked.
Calvin turned around again towards the entrance.
âYou should be grateful that you are even alive, donât ask me that again missâŠ.whats your name again?â
âI didnât give it.â Sonia said sternly.
âVery well, have a great evening.â He said before heading out.
Sonia bit herl-ips to keep herself from crying
. So this mansion of the devil was going to be the rest of her life? She buried her hand in her face as she let out a painful cry.
âDo not beat yourself too ha-rd dear.â
Sonia raised her head up immediately as she heard Madam Kofiâs voice.
âI thought you were gone.â She said but the woman only smiled.
âNo, I was just de-ep inside the attic, I heard all your conversations.â
Sonia was confused, the woman was talking to her, âWhat about the hidden c@mÂŁras?â
âThere is no hidden c@mÂŁra here in the attic, it is the lowest room in the mansion and no one uses it.â The woman said, sitting beside her.
This way, Sonia could see her clearly.
âI donât know what to do, I am supposed to be planning for my wedding, all my friends will be so worried they will never forgive themselves for letting take that stupid bet. Ben will be so worried. Oh God! Is this going to be my life forever?â
The woman smiled.
. â I un-derstand your worries but boss was right. I have been working for him for many years now, from Nigeria and then here in SA. Believe me, he has never brou-ght in any prisoner, he has always killed anyone he saw as a threat.â
âSo why didnât he kill me? Atleast he would be free of me.â
The woman thought for a while. âWell, our boss is actually a very mysterious man. He must have a reason for keeping you, and from what I saw tonight, he has a soft sp©t for you.â
âSoft sp©t?â
âYes, I think he nee-ds you or maybe he likes you , whatever reason it is, you must be quite special for being alive. If I were you, I will use this to my advantage.â
Sonia didnât un-derstand. âI donât quite follow.â
âLook, ever since I have been working with him, he has never showed any interest in a lady the way he has showed interest in you, there must be something to it and you have to find out, that is the only way you can escape.â
âSo, what do you suggest I do.â
âTap into this weak sp©t of his, use it to your advantage.â
âBut how?â
âGet close to him. That way, you can be sure he will do your bidding. A day might even come that he will let down his guards and you might use it to escape, make him trust you, make him like you than any one heâs ever liked.â
Sonia was looking at the woman as if she was crazy. âMadam Kofi, are you by any chance saying I should make that cold-hearted daredevil of a killer-man fall in-love with me?â
The older woman smiled. âYes. That is exactly what I’m saying..â

It was a beautiful morning for some reason, perhaps, because of the sound sleep I had the previous night. It was like an antidote, all my nightmares just floated away and I nee-ded more of that.
She had asked if she could go, well, she couldnât and she hadnât even told me her name. She must be really angry with me, I wanted to show my appreciation so I decided to have a grand meal for her
. I wasnât sure if she was a big eater but at least I asked the cooks to prepare few African dishes for her and the long table was filled with plates of chicken, beef, pork, some rounded stuffs, vegetables and some other funny looking dishes.
I waited for her arrival; I was hoping she would be impressed and probably st©p asking about her freedom, I nee-ded to make her feel comfortable here until she falls for meâŠ.therefore I was re-ady to keep doing all she wantedâŠfor now.
The elevator dinged and I knew she was here, so I focused on my meal as if I hadnât sp©tted herâŠ
SONIA
When I got in, I was surprised at what I saw.
. The whole table was filled with all the home cooked Africa dishes that I had missed
. Dear Lord, was that pounded yam and my favourite Edika Ikong soup, God of heaven! Amala and Efo riro(Vegetable soup), as I got closer to my seat I caught the aroma of the pile of goat meats in the other plate, my mouth watered. What the hell was happening around here! plea-se God, donât let today be the day I will be slaughtered, at least, lemme take a bite out of all these foods first!
I kept eyeing the served plates as I took my seat restlessly but I had to caution myself, Madam Kofi had said to act stubborn and not easily impressed, he said that would be a great turn on for him to want to work ha-rder. Acting all stubborn infront of this Mount Kilimanjaro foods just wasnât really my thing-the problem was that I actually loved food, my friend knew that food was my weakness, especially the African dishes so how on earth would I not betray myself in front of this pounded yam!

I watched her in interest as she kept staring at the food in front of her while I ate my Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding.
I almost bur-st into laughter as she was caught in a dilemma as if battling whether to ask me something while holding herself back from devouring them one by one.
âUrmâŠ.what are all these plea-se? AM I safe? Is there a p@rty?â She asked, watching me as if I was going crazy.
âNo lady, this is a way of thanking you for such a beautiful sleep last night and for not hating me for slee-ping off on your shoulders.â
âSo, all these are for me?â She asked wi-de-eyed.
âYes, plea-se, eat as much as you can.â I replied, amused at her state of panic.
She kept staring at the dishes in shock and then looked at me.
âIs this a way of telling me I am not going back home?â
I smiled at her confidence. â Yes, is it working?â I asked, leaning forward.
For a while, she did nothing but was just looking at the foods and then at me.
âWell, we shall see.â
I watched as she first of all devoured the whitish molded pudding and some funny looking sauces. Then she took a bite off of the rest of the foods. I have never seen anyone eat the way she had eaten, she hadnât used any of the cutlery, instead she used her hand! Holy Moly! What kind of savage was she?
She kept giving off hmm–ing hmming sounds, closing her eyes as she took each bite and I knew I had definitely impressed her.
I watched her wash her hands carefully, then wiped her hands against the napkinâŠthere were still lots she hadnât eaten but she had definitely tried.
âSo, are we good?â I finally asked , feeling like I have definitely caught a score with her.
She stood up slowlyâŠpushing back her seat.
âThat was a trial, who do you think I am? Esau that will sell my birthright because of some food!â She scoffed, rolling her eyes sidewaysâŠ.then she walked close to me, pushing her che-st forward and swerving sÂŁdûçt!velyto my sideâŠ.
She bent slowly to reach my ear, the pendant on her nÂŁÂąk was hanging low, pointing directly to the opened cleavages due to her postureâŠ. and for the first time my heart did a double fli-p…
She whispered to my earâŠ.
âYou are not even close, if you are trying to impress me, you should try ha-rder, I am not easy impressed Sirâ Then she stood up, straightened herself and walked same way into the elevator.
I sat still in my seat, unable to move or think.
What the hell just happened. She just flashed me her cleavages just now and my heart ceased. What kind of game was she pla-ying with me?
What happened to that girl that was so scared of me earlier? Where did she get this confidence she was displa-ying.
I loosÂŁned the tie around my nÂŁÂąk as I felt h0t all of a sudden. How dare she challenged me!
I smiled…I kept smiling…..well, if she wants to pl@ya game, we can both pl@yit together!
