A month Later..
Mabel was sitting alone at the sitting room while Princess her daughter is sleeping peacefully in her room. The door bell rang and Leah their maid, rushed to open the door, Mabel was hoping it was Edward because she’s missing him already but she was little disappointed when she saw his mother who she don’t get alone with.
“Mabel,” Mrs Amelia called cheerfully then hug-ged her.
“your welcome.. mom,” Mabel said feeling uncomfortable with her visit.
“where’s my son? she asked in a demanding tone while Mabel looked at her.
“oh! i mean your sweet husband,” she said plainly then chuckle while Mabel shook her head. Seems her mother in-law will never gonna change even after giving birth to a child, she’s no longer the barren woman who she insult everyday, Mabel thought within her mind.
“he’s still at work,” she reply slowly.
“and my grand daughter? she asked again.
“she’s asleep,”
“okay… as a good mother you should always watch over your child because you might wake up one day and discover she’s gone,” she said making Mabel a little bit scared with her words.
“your daughter is now your priority and i guess she’s now your happiness.. right? she asked making Mabel confuse.
“wh… what did you mean.. by all this mom? Mabel asked while Amelia sighed.
“am not your mother Mabel, am just your temporary mother in law cos i still don’t want you for my son,” she said with a straight face while Mabel looked so disappointed.
“it okay,” Mabel muttered slowly.
“what did you mean is okay? she asked in a harsh tone.
“oh.. nothing,” Mabel replied feeling so sad.
“well, am here to see my son, but since he’s not here, i have to go but just watch your back Mabel, you still don’t know the kind of family you got married into,” she said and with that, she stormed out of the room. Mabel was speechless, she felt so stupid for not been able to defend herself, it has always been like this, her mother in law hated her so much, all because she was such a poor girl but Edward still choose her over his rich, cla-ssy ex girlfriend Erica.

“i love you so much Princess, and we’ll get throu-ghthis together. I have to wait for five years before having you and these five years have been like hell to me, everyone believes am barren and sometimes their insults makes me wonder if am ever gonna have a child of my own, but here you are today right in front of me as my child, you’re a dream come true, and i will do everything in my power to protect you my baby girl,” Mabel said in tears as she kis-sed Princess on her forehead.
“i love you,” she muttered in tears.
“and daddy loves you too,” Mabel heard a different voice behind her she quickly turn to see Edward smiling.
“huh? you… you’re back? she asked.
“sure,” he reply while she walked up to him them hug-ged him so ti-ghtly.
“love.. why are you crying? he asked when they disengaged from the hug.
“oh, it nothing, i still can’t believe i have a child to call my own, i so much love Princess,” she said in more tears.
“are you sure about it? Edward asked again while she smile, wiping away her tears.
“sure, am glad i have you and Princess now,” she let out small laughed.
“well, go take your shower, dinner is ready and its your favorite,”
“wow.. i love you,” Edward smile then gave Mabel a kis-s before walking out to refresh.

“make sure you do as i said,” Amelia said into the phone.
“i know what to do, just make sure you called Mabel, we have to execute this plan tonight,” Erica said while Amelia laughed then hanged up.
“now your suffering begins Mabel,” she laughed wickedly.

▪▪▪▪Edward was damn angry with all the calls and messages Erica has been sending to him recently and today, she just texted him saying she want them to talk. Edward has nothing to do with her, all he’s focused right now is on his wife and daughter- nothing else. Erica’s call popped in and Edward picked up in frustration.
“Erica, what’s the problem? he asked so angry.
“oh am sorry Edward.. i just need to talk to you about something important, i know it over between the two of us, i un-derstand that and i respect your decision but that doesn’t make us enemies, i just need your help, it all about business,” she said gently.
“okay.. ” Edward replied.
“by the way congratulations, am happy for you and your wife,” she said.
“thank you Erica,”
“so where are you now? she asked.
“am at home, i came home earlier today, just to be with my wife and daughter,” he said making Erica more angry, but it a good thing they’re talking on phone if not Edward would clearly see how evil she is.
“then am coming right away,”
“no, no need, let just meet up,” he said.
“huh? but why? i won’t stay so long and after all i was hoping to see your wife and your beautiful daughter, please Edward am not a bad person and i won’t stay long.. ple..ase,” she said while he sighed.
“oh! okay you win, you can come,” he said then hanged up immediately before she will say something.
“who’s that? Mabel asked Edward while he smile.
“it Erica, she needed help from me, it about business and she also want to see you and the baby, so she’s coming over,” he said while Mabel just nodded, having a bad feeling about that.
“it that okay with you? he asked while she for-ced a smile.
“she’s still the same Erica that love to insult me, she make my life a living hell while i was still dating you, she still blame me for snatching you away from her and you still want to let her into our home? Mabel asked feeling so sad about it.
“am sorry about that, but believe me i have nothing to do with Erica again and i won’t watch her insult you, not anymore,” he said, a-ssuring Mabel.
“i just hope so,” she reply. Her phone rang and she quickly picked it up, it was her mother in-law.
“Mabel, can you please come over to my place with Princess, her grandpa wants to see her and i also need your help in baking something please,” she said while Mabel looked at Edward.
“oh ..okay mother,” she said then hanged up.
“your mom need my help, she need me to help her with something and she also want to see princess,”
“then let go together,” Edward suggested.
“what about your meeting with Erica, i guess you should just meet us their after that,” Mabel said.
“well, let me just call her and tell her to wait for me at the cafeteria down the street, their’s no point in her coming here anyways,” he said while Mabel nodded.
Edward called Erica severally but she wasn’t picking up, so he a-ssume she was busy and he sent her a text.

“i and Princess are ready, we have to leave now,” Mabel said smiling.
“well i’ll just dress up to meet Erica, after that i will meet you right away at dad’s place, just tell them am coming too,” he said while she smiled.
“your driver will drive you there, please stay safe,” he said while Mabel nodded.
After a short while when Mabel left, Edward was dressed up to leave when he heard the doorbell rang and he quickly open it.
“E..rica? he called surprise.
“you look surprise, like you’ve seen a ghost,” she said smiling.
“haven’t you seen my message and why haven’t you pick my calls? he asked still standing in front of her. Erica quickly brou-ght out her phone in her hand bag and was surprise to see the message and missed calls.
“oh am sorry! i guess my phone is on silent and why the change of mind? she asked.
“because my
wife is not here,” he said while Erica quickly cut in..
“am not only here for your wife but for you too, please can i come in since am already at your mansion, it pointless going to cafeteria or whatever you call it,” she said while Edward sighed. Erica hasn’t changed a bit he thought.
“sit down,” he said as he walked in while she followed him behind.
“what a nice place,” she said then sat down.
“so what did you want? he asked.
“please Edward why the rush.. you couldn’t even get me a gla-ss of wine or even water? she asked rolling her eyes. Edward called one of the maid .
“what will you like to take ma’am? the maid asked.
“well, two gla-ss of wine,” she said while she Maid nodded and left.
“am not drinking anything, by the way let get straight to the point,” he said. Soon enough the maid came in a bottle of wine and two gla-ss cu-p, then served them the drink in both cu-ps.
“you can leave now,” Edward order the maid to leave. Erica smile then sip from her drink.
“it taste so good,” she said smiling while Edward shook his head.
“what exactly did you want Erica? he asked.
“well i need you to help me fix out something,” she said then gave him an envelope. Edward quickly open and read throu-ghit.
“this just so simple but am not the one to sign this, it should be Mr Mark, i will only help you work on it,” Edward a-ssure her while she smiled.
“well, i’ll just keep this upstairs,” he said referring to the envelope.
Erica make sure Edward was far before she quickly removed a drug from her bag and put three drops in Edward’s drink, as she thought and promise herself to make him drink it.
“well i need to rushed somewhere,” he said while Erica stood up holding the two gla-ss of drink.
“i wish your wife is here, so i can get to see Mabel cos it been a long time. Well cheers to your daughter and am just so happy for you,” Erica said cheerfully as she gave him the drink while Edward just collected and hold it.
“thank you Erica, but i have to go,” he said.
“please Edward just a sip from this, after all this your house, it your wine, i should be the one afraid here so you won’t poison me,” she said sadly.
“it not what your thinking Erica, well thanks and cheers to you too,” Edward said with a smile then sip from the drink.
“i miss you so much Edward, but am glad you’re happy with Mabel,” she said smiling while Edward smiled back then sip from his drink again.
“the wine taste so good.. right? she asked.
“sure.. that’s my favorite wine and i have it a lot at the bar,” Edward said as he gulped down everything in the cu-p, feeling so tipsy already.
“thank you Erica, i have to go now,” he said as he made his way to the door but Erica quickly hug-ged him.
“i love you Edward, i love you so very much, please love me even for a second,” she cried hugging him ti-ght.
“Mabel might be waiting for me,” Edward said almost in a whisper, he was totally out of his mind. Erica sm-irk, her planned work out, the drug she use to drugged him were very strong.
“its raining already, you have to rest, let me take you to your room,” Erica said as she place his arms around her shoulder and walked him to his matrimonial bedroom, she sm-irk when she saw how large the room is and so beautiful.
“i can’t believe i let Edward sli-p out of my hand but now i will make sure that never happens,” she said to herself, as she push Edward to the bed and quickly removed the jacket she’s wearing.
“i love you Edward and am here to make you mine,” she laughed, immediately Edward phone was ringing in his trouser pocket, Erica quickly reject the call because the caller was Mabel. The phone rang again but Erica didn’t picked up, soon a text message popped in.

Erica smiled at the message and she quickly reply- <
“Mabel…? Edward murmured softly while Erica kept trailing her hands around he’s ba-re che-st, she has successfully un-bu-tton his shirt.
“i love you,” she whispers bit-ing his earlobe then kis-sed him so de-eperly, she knew Edward wasn’t in his right sense and this was the right time to get him…

Mabel was able to make Princess to sleep while she helped Mrs Amelia make a cu-p cake in the kitchen, her mind was so far, she couldn’t figure out why Edward wasn’t picking her calls and why he only choose to reply her.
“you’re thinking too much,” Amelia said tapping Mabel back to herself.
“huh?
“you look tense, don’t tell me you’re missing my son already,” she said smiling.
“not really… well i guess so,” Mabel replied obviously tensed.
“its 9pm already and the rain doesn’t want to stop,”
“don’t worry, we’ll sleep here tonight,” she smiled
“that’s good then, so tell me Mabel how does it feels to be a mother?
“i feel so happy.. like very happy, i feel like i could sacrifice anything on earth just to see my daughter happy and also to protect her,” she said while Amelia laughed.
“okay then, i guess you must tired, we’ll soon finish this, i need to give these to one of my friend, it her son birthday tomorrow,” she said while Mabel nodded.
“uhhh.. mom..” Mabel called feeling so tensed that Amelia always hate it when she calls her mom, all she wanted was to set things right with her mother in-law.
“Princess has now come into our lives and i believe you’re happy with that… i just want you to love me ma’am, am no longer the barren Mabel you use to call, am now a mother and i hope you’ll one day see me as that,” Mabel said trying so ha-rd to hold the tears in her eyes, she still remember those times she was insulted, maltreated and rejected all because she was poor and has no parents but it was Edward who has been her strength and stood up for her in everything, those insults became worse when she married Edward and couldn’t give him any child after five years of marriage.
“it okay Mabel.. am so tired, let hurry up with this, i just want to sleep,” she said while Mabel nodded, all she wanted was her mother in law to love her.

The next morning, Mabel woke up early and made breakfast for the family, she miss Edward already and she wanted to rush home to see how he’s doing.
After breakfast Mabel was ready to leave, she called Edward on phone but it switched off, she wanted to called Leah, one of their maid but something stop her from doing so.
“thank you so much dad, thanks mom, i will find time to visit you more often,” Mabel said with a smile after breakfast.
“and i will get to be with my grand-daughter,” Mr. Patrick teased while Mabel laughed.
“i hope you’ll be able to make it to Greg’s birthday party tomorrow?
“sure, i will try to and i will come alone with Princess,” Mabel replied.
Mabel arrived home so worried when she first saw a female handbag at the sitting room, the whole house was quiet, she slowly walked upstairs to their bedroom and meet the door slightly open.
“Edward, we are back,” Mabel said slowly having a bad feeling about everything. she bashed into the room, holding Princess in her arms, she was shocked by what she saw- Edward her lovely husband in their matrimonial bed with Erica.▪▪▪
