It was 1st January- New year. The atmosphere was dark, the air hung heavily that evening and they sky was filled with dark and grey clouds. They were lightening and roaring of thun-der, despite the cold weather and also the air conditioner, Mr. Edward was still sweating because all he could hear was the cry of his wife from the labor room, it was her due date and he was hoping she will put to bed safely.
“nurse, i need to be their for my wife, she need me,” he said so frustrated to one of the nurse who was in a hurry to return back to the labor room.
“am sorry you can’t,” she said without even glancing at him, she hurried up and walked to the room, closing the door behind and leaving Edward so worried.
Edward recalled all the bad times he went throu-ghwith his beautiful wife Mabel, everyone was against their marriage most especially his wealthy parents, things became worst when Mabel couldn’t bore him any child, but indeed heavens have smile on them and bless them with a child after good five years of marriage without anything to show forth. He keep hoping Mabel will scale throu-ghthis so his happiness would be complete.
Soon, it began to rain, it was such a heavy down pour and Edward hope it something good, he kept wandering and praying for his wife and the baby to be safe.
“sir,” Edward heard a femine voice calling out his name, he quickly turn and saw the doctor, his heart was beating so fast.
“doc, how is my wife and the ba..by? he asked gently.
“no need to worry Mr. Edward your wife is doing okay and your daughter is also safe,” she said while he sighed, his happiness knew no bounds, he felt so at peace.
“thank you doctor… but i need to see my wife,” he said feeling so excited that tears dropped from his eyes, after five years, he gonna be a father and all those mocking them will have no reason to mock them again.
“sure you can,” the doctor replied.
Edward quickly rushed in to see his wife and daughter.
“at last Edward” Mabel said in a low tone.
“i love you so much dear, thank you for making me a complete man,” he smile letting his tears flow down, he turn to see the little girl, lying quietly in her crib.
Edward is such a good man, very wealthy and powerful businessman, handsome and smart. He’s a well respected man, living with his beautiful wife Mabel. Life has been quiet good to them, despite the fact the were filthy rich, Mabel
couldn’t conceive and Edward’s parent were at his ne-ck, forcing him to get married to his ex, Erica Wreford but Edward choose to remain faithful to Mabel, he kept trusting in God for a child and finally his prayer had been answered, his parents were happy about it but yet they still want Erica for him especially his mother, Mrs Amelia.
“congratulations son,” Edward parents walked in and he hug-ged them immediately.
“finally Mabel has put to bed, am now a father,” Edward said feeling so happy, it was indeed a happy day for him.
“how is the baby and also Mabel? his father asked.
“their both inside, the doctor said they need some rest especially Mabel,”
“what gender? his mother asked.
“it’s a girl mother,” he replied while she smiled.
….
Few hours Later✨
Edward and his parents went to the ward to see his daughter and wife and lucky for him, Mabel was awake by then and she was holding their daughter in her arms.
“she looks like you,” Mabel said emotionally, her eyes were cloud up with tears already.
“i love you dear, congratulations again, we are now parents,” Edward said starring at his beautiful daughter.
“am so happy for you,” Edward’s father said ruefully while Mabel raise her head and saw him with his wife standing in front of them.
“at last Mabel, you’re now a real woman and a mother,” Mrs Amelia said mockingly.
“it not time for his mother,” Edward warned with all seriousity while she rolled her eyes.
“well good night, the rain has stopped and the weather is getting cold, i need to go, congratulations once more,” she said to Mabel staring de-eper into her eyes with all hatred.
“see you tomorrow then,” Mr. Patrick, Edward father announced while Edward nodded.
“Mabel heaved a sigh of relief when she make sure Edward parent are out of the room.
“the doctor said you’ll gonna be discharge tomorrow morning, i told Leah to make everything ready for you and the baby,” Edward said as he held his daughter fragile little hand.
“don’t worry about my mom, i’ll handle her myself if she try to mess up with you,”
“oh… no need, after all heavens have smile on us and here is our baby girl, thank you Edward for sticking to me and me alone, thank you for your love, thank you for believing in me and trusting in me,” Mabel said in tears while Edward kis-sed her gently on her forehead.
“i told you already, till death do us part, i love you so much, okay?..
“i love you too,” she replied with a smile. They two lovely couple stare at their beautiful daughter.
“she’s so cute, she looks like her father,” Mabel laughed as tears slide down her cheeks.
“sure, she has the shape of my eyes and nose, and i guess she took after your full s-exy pink li-ps,” Edward said in a more romantic way making Mabel to blus-h.
“oh really.. so what are we gonna name our little girl?
“well, we’ve talked about that. She’s all we’ve got now and she’s now our princess,” Edward said making Mabel to laugh.
“thank you love,” she said sweetly…
…
The next day…
Mabel was discharged and back home with her husband and her daughter, she was so happy and now she feels what it means to be a mother, no one will mock or insult her again, not even her own mother in law she thought to herself.
“am so happy you’re back, not only you but with your daughter,” Leah one of their trusted maid said smiling.
“yes am so happy too,” Mabel replied smiling. Edward keeps smiling to himself as he held his daughter in his arms.
“she looks so pretty sir,” Leah said staring the sleeping baby.
“sure, she’s a goddess because she’s just so beautiful,” he said then walked to their large bedroom and Mabel followed him.

Mrs. Amelia kept walking to and fro in her bedroom, looking so depressed, she picked up her phone and called Erica.
“hey Mrs. Amelia,” Erica said in a cheerful voice while Amelia rolled her eyes.
“you silly girl, i’ve warned you, i told you this even before Mabel got pregnant, do everything to get Edward but you couldn’t, you acted all cool and now Mabel has successfully put to bed yesterday night, you need to get Edward, i guess his love for Mabel even increased,” she said into the phone.
“really! Mabel gave birth yesterday? Erica asked unsure of what she heard.
“sure,”
“by now i should know Edward does not belong to me, he doesn’t love me but i have some plans, i will make sure Mabel suffer for this, for stealing my man,” Erica said bitterly while Mrs Amelia laughed.
“that’s the spirit girl you have to do something but make sure you don’t hurt my son, only Mabel and that wretched little daughter are allowed to get hurt in this game,” she grin evilly.

Things seems to be moving pretty well for Edward, his wife and their daughter whom they named ?”PRINCESS”?.
Their home was such a perfect definition of happy home and they were celebrated. Edward’s friends, business a-ssociate and his family threw a grand party to celebrate him, his wife and their daughter. It was such a happy day for them and Mabel felt so fulfilled having her own daughter right in her arms.
The party ended well, Edward and his wife receive lots of gift from friends, family, business a-ssociate and his loved ones, it was such a memorable day for him and his wife.
Mabel and Edward swore to be a responsible parents, all they wanted is to raise Princess by themselves and give her all the good thing they can…?
