Still in the heat Nkiru turned and looked at him and he unconsciously urinated on himself and she bur-st out laughing..
“Look at this good for nothing i*iot! Look if you don’t want me to break you like spaghetti, you’ll rush in now and clean the mess you just did! She shouted on him and he quic-kly left to get a mop while she let a loud hiss looking at her phone as Maria kept calling her.
“ru-bbish! She said and left for her room.
Maria got tired calling and called Francis and he slowly picked up,
“What’s the situation over there? I’ve been calling mama countless times now and she’s not picking up, she said and he sighed.
“I left alre-ady, I’m with the guys, he said and she noticed the tone of his voice.
“Hey were you crying? God what’s happening? Maria asked and Francis sniffed cleaning his tears.
“Sister plea-se not now but I’m not at home and I won’t be going back ever, he replied.
“Common Francis let’s solve this okay, you should be used to mama by now don’t let it get to this point I beg you, she said.
“Sister not anymore, today has broke the c@m£l back and I can’t take it. She pushed me like I was no b©dy with curses and names, see I have no mother and let her just forget about me as a son, Francis said.
“Francis plea-se what about Joe? plea-se just calm down I know you’re angry……. “I mean every word i just said and plea-se do me this favour, don’t mention that woman to me again. I don’t know her and that’s it, and as for Joe, I’m sure he can manage, bye sister, Francis said and dropped the call before Maria could say anything.
Bridget call c@m£ on phone and he picked up,
“Frank I’m engaged somewhere and I’m looking for a way to escape but I’m worried about you, are you okay? She asked.
“Don’t worry take your time with whatever you’re doing i can manage, he replied.
“Why not tell me what’s going on with you, I’m not concentrating here, she said.
‘Dear don’t be too bothered, when you’re done plea-se come around and I’ll sure tell you everything okay, he said.
“Okay, I’ll quic-kly leave with any chance i have, plea-se be calm and take care okay, she said.
“Thank you, he said and she dropped the call.
He heaved and stood up going to the freezer, took a drink and returned to the sofa drinking as Nkiru words kept ban-ging in his ears.
He had so many plans for the land she gave and dreamt of having a big poultry establishment there, but everything got soured.
He hated the land and the stupid money Nkiru promised to give him. He even hated the fact that she gave birth to him, and as he kept thinking about all of it and drinking, his rage increa-sed and his friends walked in seeing him in such mood.
“Frank calm down, Fred said getting the bottle from him and he closed his eyes controlling himself.
“I don’t think the drink is ma-king you feel Better. Mark said.
“Nah plea-se I nee-d it, I think its relieving me, Frank said stretching his hands to get it and Fred gave it to him.
“Can you tell us what the problem is now? Victor asked and Frank gulped the drink all down and sighed.
“So after you guys left, it wasn’t long that woman returned…… “Which woman? Mark asked.
“That woman that used to be my mother, he replied and the guys looked at him confused and Francis told them everything that happened.
No you’re joking na, you can’t be serious, Victor said when Franco was done.
“You mean your mother said all of that to you and s£nt you out? Mark asked still surprised.
“That’s why I’m here. I’ll just squat here for a while if you’ll let me and look for an ap@rtment to manage, Frank said.
“So its real? But why will you want to leave or squat for a while when you’re always welcome here to stay with us. Common don’t sound that way, Fred said and Frank sadly cleaned his face having a lot on his mind.
“What will you do now Frank? Should we go see your mom and talk to her? Victor asked.
“Don’t you dare! And point of correction she is not my mother! Frank screamed.
“Guy you’re hurt i un-derstand and families do have misun-derstandings and things like this do happen. Yes she’s wrong calling you names and s£nding you out but don’t forget the good things she has been doing for you. The training she gave you in school, the land and even the money she promised, she proved to be a loving and good mother and you cant just say she is not your mother just because of this one thing she erred, Fred said and Frank scoffed.
“Guy Fred has a point. I dey jealous your mama sef and do say you’re lucky to have her. Yes she has mess up maybe she is having a bad day or maybe something happened that made her unhappy or something, but plea-se, na still your mama she be, make this case no go far, Mark added.
“But guy, if the problem is about Bridget, if she doesn’t like her why not hear her out. I think there’s is something she saw in her that she feels it wont be good for you, you know mother knows better than we do and they un-derstand the right ones more than we do, Victor said and Frank angrily looked at him.
“Did i say anything wrong? Victor asked.
“hmmm I’ll suggest we leave Bridget matter for now and solve this problem with his mother, Fred said.
“There is nothing to solve. If she doesn’t like that girl that is her business, all i know is I will choose Bridget over her over and again if i have to. I only introduced her as a friend and she retaliated that way without getting to know her first and she threw her food away. What she did has increa-sed my love for Bridget and nothing will change that not even her. And if her land is what you are negotiating I should make peace with her, i am returning the land to her and will reject her money, I want to be a man without her help, Frank said and the guys mouth flew open.

“and i mean it, i hate everything that concerns that woman and enough of this discussion, Frank said and a knock c@m£ on the door when Victor was about to say something.
“Who’s there? Victor harshly asked knowing they were not expecting anyb©dy.
“Bridget, she replied and Frank jumped up immediately to open up for her.
They hvgged or a while and she t©uçhed his face,
“How are you? What happened? She asked.
“Come in, he said taking her hands to his friends and she greeted them.
“We meet again and sorry for Victor tone on you, Fred said.
“I’m sorry, i didn’t know you were coming but how did you know our place? Victor asked.
“Ahhh Frank gave me the address, she replied.
“Yes and sorry i invited her over when you guys left to barb your hair, i should have inform you, Frank said.
“No problem. Since someone is here with you we will be going back to the salon so you two can have your time, Mark said.
“You were not done? Frank asked.
“Nah you no see we no shave na, we barb and shave but we couldn’t wait because we were worried about you, Fred replied.
“Okay no problem, see ya, Frank said and Bridget waved at them as they left again.
“So how are you? You got me worried on phone, she said and Francis held her hand forcing a smile.
“Maybe i was missing you that’s why, he said.
“st©p, i know something is wrong, i can feel it, she said.
‘How did you? I thought we were only friends? He asked.
“what about it? She asked and he heaved.
“Nothing, he replied.
“Francis what happened? She insisted.
‘Well i had a fight with mom and she s£nt me out, so i will be staying here now, he replied.
“Fight with mom? is it because of me? Did i do anything wrong in there? She shakily asked and he closed his eyes.
“Why will you say such a thing? He asked.
“Why such a fight then? She asked.
‘Its not important okay, I’m just hurt she said hurtful things to me and once again I’m feeling less of a man. I mean what have i achieved? I feel useless and not useful in anything, he replied.
“shhh clean your mouth. Don’t say that plea-se, you’re not less a man nor useless and soon, very soon Francis you’ll not be here anymore. I see you great okay so just give it a little time and continue to hold on strong in there, Bridget calmly said and pla-yfully hit him on the che-st and he gave a little smile.
‘just what i nee-d now, thanks for coming into my life, he said
“You’re welcome, and hey you were drinking again? She asked when she perceived his breath.
“Yes just a bottle, he replied.
“but you promised, she said with a frown.
“And i kept to it, i didn’t drink with my friends i swear, i felt really down and took just a bottle but i promise it wont happen again, cross my heart, Frank said and she smiled.
“Forgiven, you look handsome though when you’re sober, she said laughing.
“in other words you’re trying to say I’m very handsome. So tell me something, are you wooing me now? Just say it cause i want to know what it feel like to say no I’m not interested or let me think about it, Francis said and Bridget laughed hitting him.
“You’re not serious, you wish, she said.
“I know you like me sha, and i like you too, Franco said and Bridget looked at him and he heaved taking her hand.
“Will you believe me when i say this is my first time? I don’t know what you did Bridget and i know I’m not yet that great man, but i just wish you will give me a chance and lets see how this will go, Francis said.
“What should i call this? Did you just ask me out? She asked.
“Sorry i didn’t say it well? Frank asked and she smiled.
“Don’t worry everything will be alright and we both are in the developing stage. You’re a good guy Franco despite we just met, and there’s so much in you and i believe in all your dreams. I’ll gladly wait and lets see how and where this sh!pwill sail us to, she replied.
“In summary is that a yes? He anxiously asked.
“Uhmm let me think about it, she replied.
“Oh Common! Francis shouted and pursued Bridget who ran away from him laughing.
“Ahhhh wait for me! Nkiru who has been watching shouted……….
