Francis face turned soured and Bridget stood up as she slowly climbe-d down the stairs.
“Good morning ma, Bridget calmly greeted but Nkiru ignored and looked at Francis.
“Mama I don’t like this, she’s my visitor, Francis said embarras-sed and she bur-st out laughing while they both looked at her wondering what’s wrong.
“How are you my dear? Did I get you bothered? She asked Bridget and she gave a little smile.
“A little ma, she replied.
“Don’t mind me, I can be funny sometimes. So relax and feel comfortable, I’m rushing to somewhere now, Nkiru said.
“Okay ma, bye ma, Bridget said and Nkiru pla-yfully hits Francis who was still trying to get himself back and she left.
Bridget slowly sat down looking at Francis who bowed his head,
“Hey what’s wrong with you? She asked.
“I’m so sorry about what my mom said, that was embarras-sing, he replied.
“Common its okay, she was only pu-lling our legs. She’s cool though, she said smiling..
“You think so? He asked.
“Yea so get over it. Is there any other person at home? She asked looking around.
“Yea my elder bro….. Oh i forgot he’s hungry, i have to get him something to eat, Franco said getting up.
“What will you be preparing? She asked following him.
“i don’t know yet, i just have to check the kitchen, he replied.
“Don’t worry leave it to me, she said.
“You’re sure? He asked.
“Yes, besides I’m hungry too so i won’t want to purge, she replied smiling and he scratched his head.
“Are you talking about my food? He asked.
“I didn’t mention names o, Bridget replied laughing and Maria call c@m£ on phone.
“My sis is calling. The kitchen is just there, feel free okay, Franco said pointing to it and she nodded and left.
“Hello sis, he picked up.
“Yea Francis i just got into the ap@rtment, its cool here, she said.
“Oh that’s nice, welcome, he said.
“Thank you, did you tell mama i arrived? She hadn’t returned my calls yet, Maria said.
‘Oh i forgot and she just left the House to where i don’t know but I’ll surely tell her you’re safe and sound, he said and she scoffed.
“The mother i know is not bothered but its cool. I hope everyone is fine and Joe? She asked.
“Uhmmm yes but he’s hungry. Actually Bridget is helping to prepare breakfast, Francis replied.
“Breakfast now? She asked checking her wristwatch.
“Yes sister i sle-pt off without knowing but don’t worry we will be quic-k with it, he replied and Maria sighed.
“Do you know it was in the plane i remembered i didn’t prepare something before i left. I think i was too happy to leave, sorry about stressing your sweet heart, she said and he couldn’t st©p laughing.
“No sister its fine, just take care of yourself for me, he said and she smiled.
“Alright, call me when mama gets home okay, she said.
“Sure i will, bye, he said and she dropped the call.
He met Bridget in the kitchen immediately,
“She’s home? She asked.
“Yea, so what did you say about my cooking again? Francis asked and she bur-st out laughing………….
Done cooking together, Franco went up to call Joe while Bridget prepared the table.
Bridget was surprised to see Joe was an imbecile and Francis saw the look on her face.
She gave a smile and greeted him while Joe only waved at her and sat down to eat.
Francis gently drew Bridget to a corner,
“I’m sorry i didn’t tell you he is this way, but if you don’t want to eat with us i can un-derstand, he said.
“Why? Is he not a human being? I know you didn’t tell me because you’re ashamed of him but its fine, lets go eat, Bridget said taking his hand to the dinning.
Minutes later they were done eating and a knock c@m£ on the door when Bridget was about clearing the dishes.
“Who’s…… “Na we! Mark cuts Francis as they bounced in cheering themselves.
“Give me knuckles guy! The guys said to Joe who was just gleaming with smiles.
“Our wife we greet o, Victor said and Francis threw on him the spoon he was holding while they laughed.
“Our wife kill you there! Francis shouted and they watched Bridget go in with the dishes and they smiled looking at Francis.
“You really love her huh? She’s good to go, wife material full yards, Fred whispered to Franco.
“I feel same too, Francis replied back.
“E be like na you go open marriage door first o, my mama just come motivate you and fiam your eye open, see miracle, Victor said and Francis smiled.
“I wish this project I’m having at hand works out so i can settle down, i really want to keep her, Francis said.
“Momsy don see am? Mark asked.
“Yes, he replied and a glas-s dropped from the dinning where Joe was sitting down.
“Thank you Joe, Francis said to him.
“No mind am o, break more we get your back, Mark said but Francis sighed and stood up as Bridget c@m£ out from the kitchen.
“What fell? She asked.
“Don’t worry I’ll take care of it, he said holding her back when she wanted to take a look.
“have you checked if he’s hurt? Look he’s injured, she said pointing when she saw blood on Joe leg.
“He’s wounded? The guys asked and stood up from where they sat.
“Don’t worry, i don’t want you to step in there so you wont get hurt too. Its not the first time I’ll handle this okay, Francis said and the guys went in and helped Joe out.
“Sorry Joe, Bridget said to him while Francis went in to bring the first aid box Maria specially bought for him.
“Do you guys nee-d something to eat? Bridget asked when Mark was attending to Joe and Victor was at the dinning.
“No problem, they replied and she nodded,
“Fred i hear say you burned food this morning, Francis shouted inside.
“Na still p@rt of nutrient o if you don’t know, Fred replied and Francis laughed coming out with the box.
“No wonder you too dark, too much of burnt food, he said.
“Black is beauty, Fred said.
“No be for your case abeg, st©p consoling yourself, Victor said leaving the dining with the broken pieces while Francis gave the box to Mark and left to get drinks.
Bridget c@m£ out setting the table and they thanked her,
“I have to go now she said.
“That soon? Francis asked.
“I thought you’ll join us in drinking, Mark said.
“No no its fine, i have something to do at home but next time, she said.
“Okay I’ll drop you off then, Francis said.
“No don’t bother, just stay with your friends okay, she said.
“Okay, thanks so much for coming and everything, i appreciate, Franco said holding her hand.
“Yea, I’ll talk to you later, she said hvgging him, waved at the guys and Francis couldn’t st©p staring at her even after the door got closed and the guys bur-st out laughing at him.
“My guy this one don hook you for che-st i swear, Mark said.
“Guy is so de-eply fallen in love in Dbanj voice, Victor added.
“He just fall draw like okro, see face sef, Fred added and they laughed ha-rd .

Done eating and drinking despite their numerous talks, Fred cleared his throat.
“Guy we been come to talk business with you sha, he said.
“we-tin happen? Francis asked.
“Nothing sha just that we happy say you bought into our idea going for business and your mom has shown great support giving you such a land that can build an ultra modern poultry farm……… ‘And other animals sef, Mark cuts Fred in.
“Yes, other animals sef if you want, we are so happy, Fred concurred and Francis smiled.
“Thanks guys, he said.
“Yea so we asked ourselves what we can do to help out in this business because the truth be say,your success na our success, Fred continued.
“That’s right, Victor said.
“Yes, so we are supporting with 600,000 naira. I know its small but I believe it can push work go small before your mama and sister s£nd their promise, Fred said and Franco jumped up laughing loud.
“Sorry na we no say make you mad o, Victor said but Francis fell on them.
“Thank you so much guys, I will never forget this, he said very emotional.
“Guy forget that thing, what are friends for? Mark asked.
“I’m so grateful, Francis replied.
“Its okay guy, after all every eggs and chicken we go chop go come from there free of charge, Fred jokingly said.
“No be small thing o, if i vex my girlfriend na to just say make she go meet Francis for chicken case close, Victor said and Francis was just laughing.
“Thanks guys, he said.
“So anyway forward? You gat plans? Fred asked.
“Yea, let me go get my iPad, Franco replied.
“I go re-move drink again o! Mark shouted approaching the freezer.
“Feel free, Franco said.
Francis returned and showed them the structure he intends to build on the land.
“Its cool, and with the money you’ll be having i think it will build this, Fred said.
“Yes, and I’m talking with a big time consultant, there’s so much more i want to learn so my workers won’t mess with my business, Franco said.
“Nice one. So have you arranged with someone alre-ady to design the building? Victor asked.
“No not yet, he replied.
“Okay leave that one to me, i know someone who can do that, Fred said.
“Awwnnn thank you, Francis said.
“No problem, anything just let us know no carry this project for your small head before e go break abeg, Fred said.
“Yes sir! Francis shouted standing at attention……….
The guys were gone and Francis la-id on the sofa happily chatting with Bridget on WhatsApp telling her what the guys did.
“You’re so blessed with good people around you, She said.
‘I hope you know you’re included among the good people, he said.
‘I didn’t do anything to support your business or have i? She asked.
“Is it about money? the friendsh!pyou give is more than enough for me, he replied.
“I’m just smiling here, she said and Nkiru walked in.
“Mom just walked in, I’ll chat you later plea-se, he said and greeted her.
“Thank you, where’s your girlfriend? She asked.
“She left when the guys c@m£. Where did you go to? He asked.
“Are you now my b©dy guard? She replied.
“Okay Sister called to tell you she arrived safely and you’ve not been picking her calls why? He asked.
“Enough of the questions plea-se I’m hungry, she replied.
“Okay Bridget kept food for you, she cooked, he said and she looked at him.
“She did what? She asked.
“She cooked for everyone, even the guys ate, he replied smiling.
“Which kitchen did she enter to cook? I hope its not my kitchen? She asked.
“ahhh mama is there a problem with that? He asked.
“Oh just shut up! Shut that dirty mouth and let me warn you, next time she enters my kitchen to cook I’ll pour her acid, tell her i said so! She shouted.
“Now you’ve gone too far! What did she do to you? Why don’t you like her? If she offered to cook is there anything wrong in what she did? Francis angrily said.
“I will so bend and squee-ze that trash you call mouth if you open it to talk to me again. If you want her to cook for you, go out and be a man like your mates, build a house and let her use your kitchen to cook her poison for you, ru-bbish! She shouted.
“Oh very interesting. But when i go out there to struggle so i can be a man you frown at it, today you’re reminding me of my mates ma-king it out there. No problem I’ve heard you mama but for your information, as long as i am still in this house, whenever Bridget visits and feels like cooking, that kitchen will be open for her anytime she wants. Period! Francis shouted and took his gadgets to leave.
“You must run mad! I don’t want to see that idiot in his house else i will give her the biggest embarras-sment of her life she wont forget in a hurry, Nkiru said.
“You will do no such thing! After all my dad money is in this house, not like you even have the land this house is on, my dad bought it and its our house! Franco shouted and left.
“God Pu*ish you! Your father money is in which house? When he died a pauper, oh Francis i will so deal with you and that useless cranky girlfriend of yours, Nkiru shouted and stormed to the dining throwing the food Bridget covered for her.
“Nons-en-se! Who asked for your poison, nons-en-se! She shouted and stormed into her room still shouting to deal with Francis.
Francis quic-kly called Maria when he got to his room and she picked up,
“How you? she asked but heard Nkiru seriously shouting in the background.
“Hey whats going on? She asked.
“Sis i am trying ha-rd to control my temper, but have you see your mother? She’s daring me, Francis said breathing ha-rd .
“Calm down plea-se what happened? Tell me, she said and he told her everything.
“Don’t say anything to her plea-se, i want you to dress up and go over to your friend place okay, she said.
“I’m doing that now and i don’t want her damn money anymore and i will return the stupid land she gave to me. I have had enough insult from her and i will prove to her that I can make it without her help, he said.
“frank plea-se, it has not come to that na, she said.
“Sis are you not hearing her? She has washed and called me all sort of names, sis its enough I’m leaving, he said.
“What about Joe? She asked.
‘He can take care of himself, he replied
“But you know its not possible, Frank wait let me call mom, she said.
“sis its of no use anyway try your luck, he said and dropped the call and concentrated packing his clothes.
Leaving his room with his bag he saw the food Bridget kept scattered everywhere in the sitting room with the plate pieces scattered on the floor.
He stood swelling with more anger and Nkiru rushed down,
“Ahhh very good! He’s leaving, very wonderful. but you’ll come back, you’ll surely come back to me and I’ll be waiting for you. Common get out! Go! She shouted pushing him out the door and Francis closed his eyes trying to reason if its really happening real.
“stupid s-en-seless children! I’ll be here waiting for you, looks like you don’t really know me, we shall see! Francis heard her said in the house and he took his bag shaking his head and left without taking the car……..
He got to his friends place and couldn’t hold himself as a man, he began to cry while his friends looked lost.
“Guy who die? Victor unconsciously asked.
“Shut up. You see person with bag and you’re asking who die, you dey normal so? Fred asked.
“Sorry but make he talk na, he’s confusing us, Victor replied.
“Guy don’t bother to say anything now, just be strong and talk to us when you can. We were about going to barb our hair, when we get back i you’ll be relieved. Calm down okay, Mark said tou-ching him and he nodded.
“We will be back, Fred said and they sluggishly left him alone.
Francis sniffed and called up Bridget,
“Hey what’s up? She asked.
“I nee-d you plea-se, He sadly said.
“What! Where are you? She asked and he dropped the call texting the address to her…….
