?Chapter Nine ?

~Clue….~

?UNKNOWN?

“What are you going to do now?” A lady’s voice was heard from the dark room. A man sitting from her stood up to his feet and approached her with a sly smile.

“I can’t let her aunt take over.” He said, his voice held anger.

“So what will be our next plan? Because if nothing is done real quick then Claire is going to be queen and our chances of taking over will be lesser.” She said with worry written on her face. Although the room was dark and their facial expressions can’t be make out but it was evident in her voice.

“Of course but what if Claire doesn’t make it as the new queen of the city?” Another feminine voice that sounded so familiar said.

“What are you trying to say?” The man questioned.

She folded her arms over her ch-est and leaned against the desk behind her. “Claire betrayed us first and now it’s time we get back at her.” She smirk-ed. “There will be no coronation but rather…”

“A funeral.” The other girl and the man completed the sentence for her.

“You guessed right guys.” She smiled. “If Claire gets out of the way then we will have our chances of getting what we want besides the blind thing is easy to eliminate, we have no problem with her… our main problem is Claire,” She pushed herself from the desk and walked towards the closed window. She looks up at the night sky. “And soon there will be no coronation…there will be no Claire… and there will be no queen.”

?BALLERINA?

“How do you feel for the coronation coming up?” Ballerina asked her aunt.

Claire sighed and came to sit beside her niece. “I don’t know. I’m just…”

“Aunt,” Ballerina calls out, cutting Claire off from every negative word she was about to say. She knows her aunt quite well for that. And what seem to always amaze her was how her instinct is always right. “Everything will be fine. You will make a perfect queen for the people, I’m sure of it.”

“But what if things don’t go as planned?” Claire questioned, still not feeling okay with everything. She still have a very bad feelings about the coronation and she emerging as the new temporary queen of the city.

“And what if everything goes perfectly well.” Ballerina sighed. “Aunt, sometimes forget about the negativity and think about the positivity… everything isn’t meant to go bad for us. We aren’t so cursed.”

Claire reached out to her niece’s hand and held it in between hers. She sque-ezed it lightly, letting out a de-ep breath. “I hope so.” She breaths out. “Now go to sleep.”

“Sleep? It’s morning, aunt and I need to a-ssist you in getting prepared for the coronation coming up tomorrow.” Ballerina said.

“You returned home from the beach pretty late, dear and I’m sure you are tired and probably need rest so don’t deny yourself that and go to sleep. Don’t worry the maids are there to help out in the coronation preparation… Especially Heather.” Claire rea-ssured her niece.

“Are you sure?”

“Trust me. Now sleep.”

“Alright.” Ballerina lied back down in the bed, Claire pulled the duvet over Ballerina’s body, the turned off the light, draw the curtains close and went back to sit down beside her niece. “Don’t go until I fall asleep.”

“Of course, dear.” Ballerina smiled before shutting her eyes close. Her breathing were slow and healthy. Indeed she really needed a good sleep. Claire played with the lock of her niece’s hair as she watched her sleep peacefully. She smiled, then began stro-king her cheek. “I’m sorry.” She whispered. “But things might not go as you think, Ballerina…” She sniffed. “Instead it will get worse…” She paused as she took in some few breaths. “If anything ever happens to me during the coronation, I want you to be strong. Don’t relent or feel hopeless, and don’t see yourself as a cursed princess, rather see yourself as someone strong.” She smiled throu-ghher tears. “Be happy and also make sure you detect who killed your parents… find them and bring justice to your late parents and most importantly, don’t trust anybody. Not even me. Okay?” She sniffed again. “And if you ever need a clue, go to the heart of the palace, you will find it.” She leaned over to Ballerina and pressed a ki-ss on her cheek and forehead. “…my darling niece. Sleep tight.” She stood up to her feet and walked out of the room closing the door gently so as not to wake Ballerina.

As soon as the door closes after Claire, Ballerina eyes flutters open but she didn’t do anything, she just lay there, just the way her aunt had left her.

*Instead things might get worse…* Her aunt’s words echoed in her head. Ballerina started trembling I’m fear. She has bad feelings now. Something is going to happen during the coronation and her aunt know Just what it could be. She could feel it.

?CLAIRE?

She walks into her room and slammed the door closed. She sat down on her bed and stared right at the window, few miles away from her. Tears streamed down her face but she quickly wiped it off. She couldn’t believe she agreed in terms with that monster but what could she possibly do? It was the only way of saving her niece.

~FLASHBACK~

“What do you want?” She asked throu-ghgritted teeth, clenching the phone against her ear very tight.

She heard his dark chuckle, it took her all her strength not to puke. “Now we are getting somewhere, aren’t we?” She could see the smirk in his annoying face. “Give me half of the kingdom.”

“What?!?” She practically yelled, ignoring the fact that there were guards outside. “You freaking kidding me? Why the fuc-k should I give you that?”

“Because you want to save your niece’s life. Consider it as love. You love her so much that the thought of seeing her dead is freaking you out so you decide to save her life by giving me what I want, what do you think?”

“You are sick.” She snapped.

He started laughing. If annoying the hell out of her was his plan from the very beginning then kudos to him because he’s succeeding. “Do you think I’m joking, Claire?” He growled. “Let me just get straight to the point. As soon as you emerge Queen, I want you to make the announcement of me taking part of the city, if you don’t…you know the rest.” With that, he hung the call, leaving Claire in total confusion.

She screamed, throwing her phone against the wall, it smashed to pieces but it felt like it was her heart that shattered to pieces instead. Two guards ran into her room due to her screams.

“Are you alright, milady?” One of them asked.

She took in few breaths. “Oh, yeah. You can go.” They bowed their heads in sign of respect before walking out of the room, shutting the door once again.

Claire clenched her fist as she glared at the pieces of her phone lying on the floor. She slowly lifted her gaze to the window down, she was burning in fury and anger.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

Whatever she has to do to have to do it real quick. She can’t give out part of Ballerina’s inheritance to that jerk neither does she want her dead. She has to do something real quick.

She stood up to her feet and walked closer to the window, her arms were folded across her ch-est. She grabbed her new phone from her pocket and dialled a number. The line rung for a while but was later picked after three rings.

“Let’s meet.”

?ACE?

“Are you going to say whatever you have to say or not?” Ace asked angrily, shooting daggers at the woman he once called mother.

“I…”

~FLASHBACK~

“Is my child okay?” She asked the doctor who had just walked out of the Emergency room.

He sighed. “He’s okay. But he is still in so much shock and due to that, he had some concussion and that caused his brain to get complicated.”

“I don’t understand.”

“When your son wakes up, he might be acting differently…I suggest you don’t tell him anything he doesn’t remember or might have misinterpreted, just let him live according to what he can remember. Because if you tell him anything that he doesn’t remember, it might cause him to what to find that part in his memory and that might cause a huge problem for him.”

~END OF FLASHBACK ~

“Tomorrow is your birthday.” She suddenly said, lowering her gaze to the floor.

Ace stood there in bewilderment, he never expected those words from her. Like seriously, was that important thing she wanted to say? And how the hell does it relate to his father’s death?

“How does that shit relate to my father’s death!” He yelled in anger. His mother flinched, taking a step back away from her son. “Do you know for a while I thought you were going to say something useful or even better, something actually related to my father’s death!”

“Your dad made me promise to always celebrate your birthday. But ever since his death, you refused to celebrate your birthdays. You either drink yourself to stupor, go to club, return home with different girls…but…”

“Your husband died on that particular day and instead of you to hate that day with your heart, you want to celebrate a fuc-king birthday! Are you kidding me?”

“I can’t hate that day, Ace. It’s the day you were born, I could I possibly hate it.” She fired back.

Ace eyed her from head to toe, feeling disgusted. “You disgust me.” He pushed her out of his way and walked out of the house, slamming the door really hard.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ace kept scrolling throu-ghhis father’s phone with the aim of finding something. Just anything. He clic-ked on the calendar app but there was no useful information there, he was going to go drop the phone when his finger mistakenly pressed a date, the calendar shifted to another app. He furrowed his brows at this and stared at the things on the new found app.

“Mr Anthony? Who the fuc-k is that?” Paulo questioned from behind. He had also read throu-ghbehind Ace.

Ace shook his head. “I don’t know him. But it seems like dad and Mt Anthony weren’t great friends.” He reasoned out.

“Could he be a business partner of your dad or something?”

“I don’t know. We just have to investigate on him.”

“We are getting somewhere now.” Paulo said, letting out a breath as he sat down I’m front of his friend. “Did you talk to your mother?”

“We have nothing to talk about, Paul. She’s… she’s just making this investigation difficult for us. If only she could just open up and tell us what she remembers then all this would have been much easier.”

“Ace…what if the reason why your mother can’t remember anything is because she wasn’t there that night? What if it was rather someone else. Probably you.”

“What?”
