?Chapter Eight ?

~

?BALLERINA?

Ballerina world fell apart ever since the day she lost both her parents. But she was still able to dance, and dancing gave her life, it gave her another reason to live and be happy but she was unfortunate enough to lose her sight. Can her life ever get worse? Will her misery ever end? Why can’t her life be any better? Why can’t she just be happy? Why does she have to lose everything? Why? Or was she cursed? Could she be the curse princess? Who knows, besides her life is a true definition of being cursed.

She continued crying. Pouring out her pain, bitterness, agony, emotions. She was broken. Broken beyond repairs. Sometimes she look up at the future and all she could see is…Darkness. Total darkness, there wasn’t even a little dim of light. There was no hope. Ballerina placed her hands on her ch-est as she cried. Her heart hurts, it aches, it’s shattered. Will she ever be happy? Ever?

Rain started falling but Ballerina didn’t even make a move, she just sat there and continued crying. Suddenly, she felt a shade form over her head. The rain was still falling but it wasn’t touching her anymore. She was confused. Jersey can’t be the one covering her with an umbrella or something and neither can it be just a pa-sser by, because it was damn late and no normal person will be out here this late and especially around a beach. It could only be….

“Heather?”

?CLAIRE?

“What do you want?” Claire hissed as she tightened her grasp around the phone against her ear. She was burning in fury, her nose were flaring in anger, her face were reddened.

“I expected you to be happy, you know. But seems like I thought wrong. Anyway, how are you?” She could imagine the smirk on his stupid face. Like usual.

“Happy? How am I?” She scoffed. “Are you seriously asking me that? Who the fuc-k do you think you are to do shit as you please, huh?” She snapped, she was very furious and it’s all because of this one guy speaking to her right now.

“Wait, don’t tell me you are still angry about what happened years back?”

She felt like squeezing the life out of him. She was so angry. “Shut the fuc-k up, you animal.” She almost yelled but controlled herself so she wouldn’t be heard by the guards outside her door. “After everything I did for you, after everything! You still left. I hate you.”

“Hey, but you love me first, remember?”

“Loved. And yeah, I did fell in love with you but that disappeared ever since you left.” She glared. “Why did you even call? what do you fuc-king want?”

She heard him let out a sigh at the end of the other line but didn’t say anything as she awaited his response. “You know exactly what I want, Claire.” His voice held confidence and venom, she almost even peed on herself. “I’m the only one who knows something that no one knows. Even Ballerina doesn’t know it either. Why did you keep it away from her again?” He pretend to be in thought and suddenly started laughing making Claire look stupid. “For your own selfishness, you think I don’t know your plans? You can deceive everyone, Claire. Everyone but me.”

“What are you talking about?” She questioned.

“You’ve already gotten what you wanted, so give me what I want. If you don’t, then I will have to just destroy yours.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“Oh, so you know what I’m talking about now, don’t you?” He chuckles darkly. “No, queen-to-be, I’m not threatening you, but it’s rather a promise I will be fulfilling to you if you don’t do as I please and also, think of your blind niece… don’t do anything stupid if you don’t want her dead.”

?BALLERINA?

“Why are you doing this to yourself, my princess? You said you were only just going to dance and not cry.” Heather dropped to her knees as she wrapped her arms around Ballerina and pulled her closer to her ch-est, providing her with the warmth that she needed. They both stayed under the shade of the umbrella, including Jersey who snuggled closer to Ballerina.

“I…” She clears her throat. “Why are you here, shouldn’t you be with your boyfriend?” Ballerina asked instead, with the intention of changing the topic and she did succeeded. For a second.

“I was with him before the weather changed. I knew if I don’t come to you, you would get drenched up in the rain but I never imagined you here, crying your heart out. Are you alright?” The young maid asked, concern laced in her voice.

Ballerina sniffed, nodding her head. “I’m fine, Heather. I’m always fine.” She said in a whisper, letting out a sigh.

Heather could saw right throu-ghthose lies but she didn’t push Ballerina into answering her honestly, so she decided to believe the lie. She’s the only one who seem to know more about Ballerina’s fuc-ked up life aside from Claire. She was right beside her (Ballerina) when she lost her sight. The sound of the bullet were still ringing in her ear, Ballerina’s voice was heard right after the sound of the bullet. She could never forget that day. It was stuck right in her head. Sometimes when she looks at Ballerina, all she see is a strong lady, walking throu-gha burning flame, she is hurt but she was far from giving up. She admires Ballerina charismatic personality. She actually idolized the young lady.

~FLASHBACK~

Ballerina smiled as she stared at her reflection on the mirror standing right in front of her. She couldn’t believe the day was finally here. She has been waiting for this day all her life and now it’s here. She couldn’t be less happy.

The door to the changing room opened, Heather walked in with a bottle of cold water and handed it over to Ballerina. Ballerina collects the water and took a sip before giving it back to Heather.

Heather dropped the bottle on the table and helped Ballerina in readjusting her hair. After she was done, she took a step back from Ballerina and stared at her, admiring the beauty of her princess.

*You look so ravishing, my princess.* Heather complimented, smiling.

Ballerina blus-hed, she pushed a strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. *Thanks for the compliment, Heather.* She looks over at the closed door. *How about Aunt Claire?*

*She’s on her way. She had something to take care of so she would be away for a little while. But she asked me to tell you to be careful and to make sure you make her proud.*

Ballerina smiled. *Aunt always have a way of making me smile.* She said getting up to her feet. She straightened her dress before turning over to Heather. *I just hope i don’t fuc-k up for the team.* She said sadly.

*Why will you say that, my princess? Honestly your dance is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen and no I’m not saying all this because you are my princess but I’m rather saying this because it’s fact.* The maid said with a smile on her face.

*Are you sure?*

*I’m certain.*

That was all she needed to conquer the fears building up in her. She took in few de-ep breaths, while smiling at Heather. Two of her co-dancers appeared in front of the door and told her it was time for the performance. Heather wished her good luck as she walked away alongside the dancers. Ballerina was happy for this special occasion, she has been waiting for this day all her life and now it’s finally here. She’s never been this happy in her life until now…and it’s all thanks to ballet.

The music start playing, the sp-otlight were focusing on her and her male dance partner. The area were the audience sat was dark, the only light available was the sp-otlight on stage. Ballerina and her dance partner began moving to the rhythm of the song, while the other dancers danced behind them as well. It was going smoothly. It was perfect. It was going according to how she had imagined it. She pirouette, her dance partner arms were around her tiny wai-st as she swirl. The audience applauded them. Their applaud ignited a fire within her as she picked up and started dancing better than earlier. She was doing a good job… Everyone were happy and satisfied with her beautiful performance….Well that was what she thought… but she was in for a bigger shock when the sound of a bullet was heard.

Ballerina stood still, every dancers quickly dropped on the ground as a way of protecting themselves but she didn’t. She just stood there and watch as the bullet moved towards her in a full speed. Boom! Her screams was the next thing that was heard afterwards…

~END OF FLASHBACK~

Her life never got any better…if anything it got worse instead. And yet she keep asking herself if her life will ever get better, when in reality she knows the right answer to that question.

“Let’s go home. You will catch a flu if we still stay here.” Heather said, pulling Ballerina up to her feet. “Come on Jersey.” Jersey whines, getting to his feet as well. “Let’s go.”

?ACE?

As his eyes flutters open the next morning, the first image that came into his mind was ‘her’ Yes, it sound stupid but he just can’t seem to forget her. Her moves. Her hair that flowed to the rhythm of the wind. And most especially, he can’t push off the sound of her crying voice. Why does it bother him so much? It’s not like he knows her or anything, she’s was just someone whose dance moves captivated him and not the other way round. Right? Damn, he was a complete mess.

He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, he had a quick bath, brush his teeth and got dressed for work. He grabbed his suit jacket, his phone and car keys before leaving his bedroom. Ace descended the flight of stairs, made his way to the kitchen, he didn’t even say good morning to anyone…There was no surprise there though. He made coffee for himself and drank the whole dark liquid. He let out a sigh as he turned around to leave the house but then his mom appeared in front of him, standing in between him and the door.

“What do you want?” He asked throu-ghgritted teeth.

“Ace…I need to speak with you.” She said in a low voice.

“i have to be at work or I will be late.” Ace said harshly.

“I know. But you have to listen to me first, it’s… it’s about your father’s death.” She said.

That caught the attention of Ace. “Do…do you remember anything?” He questioned, getting concerned to the discussion at hand now.

She slowly nodded her head as she looked up at her son. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. She knows what ever she was going to say will break her son into pieces but he needs to know the truth.

“I…”
