?Chapter Seven ?

~Her aching heart….~

?BALLERINA?

“you can go spend time with your boyfriend.” She rea-ssured.

Heather shook her head in disagreement almost immediately Ballerina suggested that. “I can’t leave you all by yourself, my princess. It’s so late.”

Ballerina let out a sigh as she tried reaching out to her maid’s hand but she was going the wrong direction, Heather quickly grabbed hold of Ballerina’s hand and held it in hers. “I know you are worried about me. And I also know you miss your boyfriend and that’s why I’m giving you the opportunity to go to him..” She sque-ezed Heather’s hand gently. “Don’t worry Jersey is here to look out for me and besides when you are done you can come over here. I will wait up for you.”

“But Miss Claire will be so mad at me if she gets to find out that I left you all by yourself here.”

“Well she wouldn’t know anything if neither of us say a word to her.” Ballerina raised a suggestive brow at her, waiting patiently for her reply. She really needed this. She wanted to have this moment and time to herself. She was blind but dancing to the wave and waters brou-ght calmness to her stormy night. Being watched by Heather will only make her feel….less good of a dancer. She was blind afterall and wouldn’t even get to see Heather facial expression when she begin dancing guy she was still afraid of being mocked or being looked down upon. She knows she was nothing compared to those talented Ballerina up stage. The day she lost her sight was the beginning of her failure.

After hesitating for awhile, Heather finally accepted. “Alright. I promise to come back on time.”

“Don’t end the date too quick because of me.” Ballerina yelled after Heather, who was already walking away.

“Okay. Bye!” Heather yelled back.

Ballerina li-ps stretched into a smile as she sunk into the sandy ground and hug-ged her knees against her ch-est. Jersey lay beside her and snuggled closer to her for warmth. Ballerina chuckled as she wrapped her arms around the poor dog. She started playing with his furs as she looked ahead of the calm waters. Though she couldn’t see anything but hearing the calm waves comforted her.

She had initially came over here to think and not dance. She needed time alone and obviously the palace won’t provide her with that. Did she make the right decision? putting Claire in charge of the throne wasn’t a bad idea, right? She trusted her aunt and that’s one reason why she made her take over for now but something in her was doubting this decision of hers. She hope she hasn’t make any sort of mistake. But it was better this way, she doesn’t want royalty to depart from her father’s lineage, her father and great grandfather had worked so ha-rd to retain the throne, so who was she to change things. She was blind and can’t possibly rule the people in that state…yes, she made the right decision. Claire will take good care of the throne and the people. Besides she had been the one taking care of her after she became blind, Claire was reliable and trustable. She was stupid to have doubted her in the first place.

She tucked a strand of hair from her face to the back of her ear and let out another breath. She stood up to her feet and dusted the dirt off and slowly began to dance to the rhythm of the waves. It felt magical how the waves sounded like music to her ear. But she loved it.

She pirouette once, did a temps leve as she hopped from one foot to the same foot. Tears pricked at the corner of her eyes. Dancing reminded of her parents. They were the first audience to ever watch her dance when she was just five years of age. She pirouette again and slowly lifted her legs off the ground doing a saute. The wind caresses her skin, she felt pleased. Most importantly, it felt as though her parents were here, watching her, guiding her, encouraging her like they always do. This was the only way she could connect to her late parents. This was the only way she could think. Yeah, she really didn’t come here to dance but to think….but dancing is what help her think.

~FLASHBACK~

She jumped, her front leg extend out to the side and up off the floor while the supporting leg hops. The extended leg then lands behind the supporting leg. She pirouette and lifted her two legs off the ground, extending it out across the air. She lands on her both feet. Her parents started cheering her up as they applauded her. She was happy and just when she was going to do fouette, she lost her balance and fell on her face.

Her parents quickly ran towards her and picked her up.

*Are you alright?* Her mother asked.

A tear streamed down the little girl’s face. *why can’t I do the fouette? Other ballerinas do it with ease so why can’t I?*

Her mom gave her a sad look and wiped the strain of tear off her cheek. *Everyone aren’t perfect, my child. And besides you are just five years old so it’s okay if you aren’t perfect in that turn yet.*

*And at that, your dance was very good. It was perfect ane beautiful.* Her father added as he picked her up in his arms.

Little Ballerina smiled. *You think so?*

*I can do anything to watch you dance, my angel. I’ve never seen such a great moves.* He pressed a ki-ss on her forehead while she giggled, wrapping her arms around his broad shoulders. *I’m sure later in the future, your dance will be use to console and repair broken heart.*

*What if i don’t get turn when I get older?* She questioned.

The queen, her mother stood beside her husband and her daughter. She placed her hand on little Ballerina’s back and said, *You will. I’m certain you will. But make sure you don’t push yourself into doing things. Be calm and always know it is okay to fail. In every perfection there is a failure.* She leaned forward and pressed a ki-ss on Ballerina’s forehead. *And most importantly, I will always be here to see you throu-gh.*

~END OF FLASHBACK~

Ballerina started spinning, it began slowly at first but it became fast-er, and fast-er and fast-er. She was going to do the fouette, the whipped throw. She had been practicing this move even before she became blind, but the moves was one heck of a difficult one. Not every ballerina can do this turn unless that Ballerina was an expert or professional. She slowly pa-ssed her working leg in front of her body, still spinning. She slowed down while spinning and came to a stop. She pose in a attitude(A/N: it’s a kind of a pose a ballerina does, her leg is extended to the front of her body while her knee is turned to the side) Tears streamed down to her face as she kept staring at the waters, she was also smiling in between the tears. She did it.

She couldn’t believe she actually got the turn. She has been practicing this turn all her life even before her parents died and she lost her sight. But she kept failing. She can’t even count the amount of times she failed when trying to get the turn. But now…she actually did. Her mom was right after all….*In every perfection there is a failure…* Her mom words rang in her head and that was all it took for her to break down. She started crying, her legs gave up on her as she fell to the ground, Jersey ran towards her and started whining. It could feel her pain as well.

“Mom….Dad…I did it…I…” She sobs. “I did it.” She said in between sobs. She wish they were here. She wish they were here to watch her do the turn. She wish…But the wish was impossible. They were gone and they were never going to come back. Ever.

~FLASHBACK~

“There is a bad news.” A guard said as he ran towards Ballerina and Claire. Ballerina was playing the piano with Claire when they guard ran in, he was crying as well.

“What happened?” Claire asked, getting up to her feet alongside Ballerina who was confuse with why the guard was crying.

“It’s the king and queen…” His voice cracked as the tears wouldn’t let him speak clearly.

“What happened to them?” Claire asked now getting very worried.

“They…they were involved in a car accident…The king is dead but the queen is being rushed to the hospital…. She’s…”

Claire didn’t wait for him to continue, she quickly grabbed Ballerina by the wrist. “Take us to the hospital now.” She ordered as uncontrollably tears streamed down her face.

****

“Mandy.” Claire called softly as she sat down beside her sister, who was connected to different kind of machines. Her breathing were shabby. She even had life support connected to her. She was looking very bad.

*Mom…* Ballerina called softly as she tried walking up.her mother but her mom wasn’t responding. She turned around to look at her aunt. *Aunt, why is mom lying down like this?* She asked.

Claire wrapped her arms around her niece’s body as she pulled her closer to her body and continued crying. *She will be fine…she has to be…she needs to be…she wouldn’t leave you behind.* She kept mumbling in between tears.

*What about father?* Ballerina asked.

Claire didn’t say anything but sobbed har-der . How was she going to tell the little girl about her father’s death? How will she take it? They suddenly heard a movement, Claire pulled away from Ballerina and tuned to her sister whose eyes were already open. But she still looked very weak, tears flowed to her face as she looked down at her crying daughter.

*Mandy….hold on let me go call the doctor.* Claire was about leaving but got stopped by Mandy’s hand around her wrist. *What is it?*

Mandy shook her head as more tears streamed down. *It’s hopeless.* She breaths out. She looks down at her daughter. *I’m sorry I won’t be able to keep to my word, my little princess…* She smiled bitterly, reaching out to her daughter’s hand weakly. *But always know I will forever protect you and be with you.*

*Are you going somewhere, mom?*Little Ballerina asked.

*Yes, my love. Mom is going very far away…Mom is going to meet daddy…*

*I want to come with you as well.*

*You can’t. It isn’t yet time for you, my princess.* She lifted Ballerina’s hand to her li-ps and pressed a ki-ss at the back of her daughter’s palm. *If you ever want to connect to us, dance to the rhythm of the waves, we will be there watching you.* she looks up at her sister. *Please protect my princess. Love her, care for her, treat her like your own daughter… that’s my last wish.* With that, she gave up. She died.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

That was the day Ballerina’s world started falling apart. That was the beginning of her misfortune. She continued crying, pouring out her heart, her pain, her agony. She was broken, broken beyond repair. But yet she keep asking herself, will her life ever change for the better? Will her dark world become light?

Rain started falling but Ballerina didn’t make any attempt to move, she just sat there crying. Suddenly, she felt a shade form over her head. The rain was still falling but it wasn’t touching her anymore. She slowly lifted her head but what could she possibly do when she can’t even see any god damn thing. She was confuse, It can’t be Jersey, he was just a dog and can’t possibly do anything unless it is….

“Heather?”
