~Lost in thought….~

?BALLERINA?

“You shouldn’t have done that.” Claire said at the top of her voice, glaring right at her niece.

“Why not? You are my aunt and that practically make you part of the Royal home so what’s the big deal if I put you in charge of the throne for now?”

“You are the next in line, Ballerina. Not me. You are the rightful heir to that throne. Not me. Your father is the owner of that throne and not your mother, my sister. I have absolutely no right to take over the city or the throne.” She sighed. “You need to take back what you said to those ministers.”

Ballerina shook her head in disagreement. “I can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

“You know exactly why, aunt.” She walked over to her bed and sat down at the edge, dropping her helping stick beside her just in case she will be needing it again. “I’m blind. And there’s no way the people will want a blind queen to rule them. And if I don’t put you in charge then the throne will be taken away from our family. Dad wouldn’t want that. He has done so much to retain his throne and I won’t let his handwork go to waste.” She tried reaching out to her aunt but she was going the wrong way, Claire quickly reach out to Ballerina’s stretched out hand and held it in between hers. “I know you care for me and I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for me. You stood by me during my most difficult moment and you are still standing by me…You love and I love you so much too. But please do just this one favor for me. Rule the people until I regain consciousness.” Ballerina pleaded.

Claire doesn’t know what to do. Should she accept the offer? She was confuse. It was her niece’s birthright they were talking about here and taking it over made her felt bad. But Ballerina was right. If she refuse to take the offer then the throne will be pa-ssed on to another family because there is absolutely no way the people will want a blind queen to rule them. Not every one even knows about Ballerina.

She was right when she suspected the guest to have been the ministers. She was so scared when they questioned them about their next plan on the affairs of the city. She had nothing in mind to say to them but she was so shock when Ballerina spoke up but that wasn’t what surprised her. Ballerina handing over power to her until she regain consciousness was what surprised her more. Now she und-erstand why she had told her not to worry herself about it and that’s because she had a plan already.

“Do you think that’s okay?” Claire asked.

“I trust you, aunt. And I know you will do a great job in ruling the people.” Ballerina rea-ssured, squeezing Claire’s hand gently. “So what do you say?”

Claire was a little bit hesitant before she shrugged her shoulder. “Fine.” She mumbled. “But you will take over immediately you regain consciousness, okay?”

Ballerina smiled nodding her head yes. “I will.” She suddenly yawned earning a chuckle from Claire. “Did you just laughed at me?”

“I didn’t laugh, I only just chuckle.” Claire reasoned out, pulling her arms around her niece’s body to help her up.

“What’s the different?” Ballet question with her brows furrowed in wonder.

“Just shut up and let’s go eat.”

“Ah, that reminds me,” Ballerina stopped walking just when they got to the door. Claire said nothing as she stare at Ballerina. “Are you there?”

“My arms are still round you.” Claire pointed out.

“Oh, yeah.” She clears her throat. “I will be going to the beach tonight.”

Claire pulled away immediately. “Hell no. I won’t let you leave the palace by this time all in the name of going to dance and if you want privacy then I will ask the maids and guards to retire for the night but_”

“Aunt! Can you at least let me talk?” Claire became quiet but she still kept shaking her head in disapproval, although Ballerina can’t see her. “I’m going with Jersey and Heather so you don’t have to get worried.”

“Heather?”

“Yes. Or is there any other Heather you know of that I might not be aware of?”

“Of course not.” She sighed. “Alright. But as long as you are going with Heather then I’m fine with it but you still need to be careful.”

“Well that’s one reason why Jersey is coming with me. He won’t let any harm come near me and besides I can defend myself. I might be blind but my instinct are still working perfectly.” She laughs.

“Sure.” Claire chuckles. “Now let’s go eat.”

?ACE?

He couldn’t get his mind off her…He couldn’t stop thinking about the way she flew across the air, the way she turned around, her moves…He couldn’t just forget it. His mind kept twirling around that particular memory that holds her. Nothing has ever captivated him like this. Nothing has ever made him think this much aside from the investigation going on of course. But as at now, his head were not on the investigation but they were rather on her…

What was so special about her? Why will just a mere dance capture his heart like this? If he wanted to watch a ballet, he could go for any ballet show and even get offered a VIP seat, so why couldn’t he just do that and forget about the amateur? It’s not like there’s anything special…

Who was he deceiving? Her moves were unique. Special. Beautiful. He has never seen such a beautiful dance in his life. Her dance held a lot of stories. It felt like she was going throu-ghpain, she wasn’t happy he could tell. Her dance made it obvious for him to detect, it wasn’t as if he was a good detector. He suc-k at that. Well, he doesn’t really suc-k. But her moves made him curious. He was willing to watch her dance again. Never has he ever enjoyed seeing something twice until now. Actually, he was addicted.

He loves her moves….

“….ACE!” Paulo hit him on his shoulder, Ace flinched as he came out of his thought. “Are you okay? Have been calling you for God knows how long. What’s wrong with you?”

Ace let out a de-ep breath as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He couldn’t believe he just zoned out. He wasn’t one to get lost in thought especially when they are having a serious conversation like the investigation about his father’s death.

“Are you okay? You keep zoning out.” Paulo said, sitting down beside his friend.

“I’m… I’m fine.” Ace said, clearing his throat. He grabbed the cup of whiskey and gulped the liquid in one shot. “What were you saying again?”

Paulo studied his friend for a while before shaking his head. “You need rest. Let’s talk about this tomorrow when you aren’t zoning out.” He said, getting up to his feet.

“I said I’m fine, Paul. Let’s just get this with and done. And need to find my father’s murderer and procrastinating won’t help.”

“Well I think the only person who needs that information is the one who keep zoning out when I was talking, don’t you think?”

Ace rolled his eyes, grabbing the bottle of whiskey from his bedside table and pouring some for himself. He grabbed the cup and took a sip. “Stop making me feel badder than I’m already feeling. I just have a lot of things going on in my mind, that’s all.”

Paulo placed his hand on his friend’s shoulder and squ-eezed it a little. “You know you can talk to me about anything, right?”

Ace stare at his friend for a pretty long time, saying nothing. For a minute Paulo thought his friend was going to confide in him and speak out. “Concentrate on you wife, man. And stop acting like my wife.”

“Idiot.”

A long silence fell between the two friends. They were just drinking and looking at nothing in particular but their gaze were on one common thing but their thoughts were on two different things.

Paulo was going to talk when he’s phone started ringing. He took out his phone and stare down at the caller ID, it was his wife. He hits the answer bu-tton and placed the phone against his ear.

“Yes?….Oh…. alright….I will be there in a minute….Love you.” He hung the call and turned to his friend. “I have to go, man. Duty calls.” He stood up to his feet.

“Alright then. Make sure to gather more information.”

“And make sure you don’t zone out when we start discussing tomorrow and more importantly, eat something, your mother keeps complaining to me about you.”

“That so lame.”

“I’m serious Ace.”

“fu-ck off.”

?NAOMI?

“That’s crazy.” The two women laughed. “Like seriously, tell me you are joking.”

“How can I be joking at that? My husband is just so funny.” Lilian said in between laughter.

Naomi, Ace mother laughs as well, taking a sip from her cup of tea. “You can say that again. I can’t even remember the last time I laughed this way ever since my husband’s death but this story got me laughing.” She laughs again.

Lilian smiled. She knows exactly what her friend pa-ssed throu-ghafter the death of her husband. She was still going throu-ghthe pain and rejection from her son but as a friend she is willing to stand by her and give her the support she needs.

“He still hates you, don’t he?” She asked. The atmosphere suddenly turned serious as she asked that question. Naomi stopped laughing as her face turned to the usual. Sadness.

“He will never see me as his mother until I tell him what happened that night, Lilian. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m just o confuse.” She said letting out a sigh.

“You do know what to do but you just don’t want to do it.” Lilian stated.

“If it’s what I’m thinking then don’t even start. I can’t bring myself to tell him what happened that night. It will kill him and it won’t even change anything but make him hate me more for keeping it away from him. And you know it.”

“I know. But you have no other option. You can’t keep trying to remember something you can’t possible remember and that’s because of one reason.”

“It’s better this way, Lilian.” Naomi sighed.

“Are you enjoying your life this way, Naomi?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Tell him the truth.”

“Am I interrupting something?” Paulo asked as he walked out of the large hallway. The house was more like a mansion. No, it was a mansion actually. There were different hallways allocated I’m different areas. It was a like a palace but it’s just that it isn’t royalty living in the building.

“Oh, how are you, son?” Naomi asked with a smile on her face.

“I’m fine. And do I need to remind you that you’ve asked me that same question when I came in this afternoon?”

Naomi laughs. “Ha, forgive my memory.”

“Are you alright, ma? Because you really don’t look so good.” He observed.

“I’m fine dear.” She looks ahead of Paulo hoping to see her son but he was no where around. “Where is he?”

“In his room. I don’t think he is feeling too well, he kept zoning out during our conversation.”

“Did you tell him anything but eating? He hasn’t eaten since he got back from work. I’m getting so worried about my son.”

Paulo reached out to her and held her hand in between his. “I know you care about him but if you really do then remember that fateful night that’s the only way you can make him see you as a mother.” He squ-eezed her hand before walking out of the house.

Naomi let out a de-ep breath as tears streamed down her face and she sunk down on the couch. Lilian shook her head in sadness as she approached her friend and sat down beside her friend, she engulfed her into a side hug, Naomi placed her head over her friend’s ch-est and continued crying.

“Tell him.”

“I can’t. It will break him. It’s better everything is this way.”

“It isn’t better this way, Naomi. Ace needs to know what happened that night. You can’t keep doing this to him and yourself. He needs to know the truth and who killed his father as well.”
