EPISODE 57
Louis felt his frown de-eperened.
What his wife is talking about now is totally irrelevant! Why is she interlinking Greta’s past deeds with this??!!
Louis didn’t think much in this frenzy and his whole focus was on his wife’s health condition. He didn’t think de-eper because his wife tends to overthink.
“Brina, I don’t un-derstand why you are overreacting. Sometimes it’s better not to take everything in that perspective! Yes, that old geese could have been vicious but why the heck are you comparing your incident with those past incidents of old days?” Louis asked, not able to hold his cool and patience anymore.
“Yeah, that swapping of dead plants. That’s similar to what happened back then. But, just because it happened doesn’t mean that history will repeat itself” Louis said, angered.
He never even gave a thought that she could be pregnant because they were careful.
And, when Louis saw her, his anger evaporated and he felt guilty for being angry at her. Caressing her hair, he kis-sed her forehead.
“Think logically, love. If Greta wants to harm you like the same way she did to that queen, you should be pregnant, in the first place. However you aren’t! You even had your shot yes-” Louis stopped when he sensed his wife looking at him with complex emotions brimmed in her eyes.
His eyes suddenly darted her to hands that are resting on her stomach. And, he suddenly realized that she was very gentle with herself since yesterday, to be precise, from the time she came back from hospital.
She didn’t even let him touch her, worried that it would escalate to something else, something that is strictly restricted when the lady is in her early stage.
All this, it’s just leading to one goddamn thing. Otherwise his wife would not have reacted overboard.
“You, are you-” Louis stuttered with his words, his eyes shifting to her plain stomach.
A tear escaped from Brina’s left eyes when she took his hands into her and pressed it to her stomach.
“Yes, I am,” she said, her eyes brimming with tears and her li-ps quivering.
“I found out yesterday,” Brina said, “I was shocked too. I mean, how could a shot fail?” she asked.
Meanwhile, Louis sat there, frozen.
He is shocked. He didn’t dream this even in his rarest dreams!
This thought never crossed his mind, dammit!
And, he isn’t ready for this yet.
More importantly, this is not at all the right time.
This shouldn’t be happening now!! They are married just for a month and they haven’t enjoyed their new life yet.
For God’s sake, they are still in their honeymoon phase, which I’d far, far away from the parents phase.
Secondly, they are in the middle of an unpredictable war.
“Louis?” Brina called. Shaking his shoulder.
It is when Louis came out of his reverie. And, Brina felt her heart pricked by hundreds of needles when she saw the look in his eyes.
Uncertain. Worried. Tensed. Unprepared.
Angry??
She doesn’t blame him. She was like that yesterday.
It will take some time, no…a very long time to accept this fact whole heartedly.
Being a child lover, she herself couldn’t accept the fact yet. So, she doesn’t expect Louis to do either.
“I was saying that the shot failed and it is not the fault of us nor the fault of the shot. Someone made it fail deliberately” Brina said.
When Louis heard it, his eyes shook in anger. A dangerous aura surrounded him, making even his wife shiver.
Brina was taken aback when she saw him like this. She never saw him this angry!! And now, she un-derstood why others said that he is scary!!
However, what made her more worried is.. is the thought that Louis is not accepting the baby?
Will he hate it?
If there is something he is adamant about, it is not having early pregnancy.
Meanwhile, at the same time, like an angel descended to save them from overthinking, Rhianna knocked on the door and entered the room.
“You are awake?” she asked.
“Thank god you are fine, Brina. Didn’t I say that you and the fetus both are very weak right now? Why are you taking stress even after knowing the risk?” she reprimanded her friend.
[A : Certainly not an angel.]
And, when Louis heard it his aura became even more suffocating and deathly.
Weak? Risky?
When Rhianna walked closer it was only when she felt something deathly and chilly around her.
She gulped her saliva when she realized that she just escalated something serious between the couple.
“I.. I will co.. come la.. later” she stuttered over her words, turning around to escape throu-ghthe door.
“Rhianna” Louis called, making her halt in her tracks.
Ahh… she never thought Louis could be this horrifying and scary. She never saw him like this! He was always jovial with her.
“What?” Rhianna asked, her voice ba-rely coming out of her vocal chords. This whole room is filled with dark and scary aura.
“Check her vitals. We have to make sure she and the baby are good” Louis said, standing up and walking to the couch at the corner. .
After he sat down he gestured to Rhianna to continue her work. Rhianna gulped down and called her a-ssistant to come inside.
And, when her a-ssistant stepped in she felt the tension in the room and shivered. However, left with no option she started helping Rhianna.
“Girl, your husband is very scary and strict” Rhianna whispered to Brina.
“He is angry and gloomy,” Brina replied, closing her eyes.
Later, no one talked.
With Louis’s eyes following each and every movement of them, they felt as if the devil himself was watching them from hell.
“Uhmm.. Louis, she seems to be fine. For better clarification it would be good if she had a check up tomorrow” Rhianna said.
Louis nodded his head. “Thanks Rihanna. And, have you found how that shot failed?” he asked, his eyes turning chilly again.
He knows his wife. She surely would have asked Rhianna to investigate this matter. That’s why she would have approached Ethan for some clarification.
Meanwhile, Rhianna looked at Brina and when she got a nod from Brina, she shifted her eyes to Louis and said,
“I did. Brina sent me a sample of some tonics today morning with Natalie. They are the reason why the shot failed” Rhianna said.
“However…”
“However, what Rhianna?” Louis angrily asked.
Impatient and annoyed.
He is already frustrated and very helpless.
To be frank, even he doesn’t know why he is this angry in the first place.
Is it because someone is trying to harm his wife and baby?
Or…
Is it because of something else?
Honestly, he doesn’t know the answer.
He just felt like this unfathomable anger taking over him. And, he couldn’t bottle it up in his heart ..he just couldn’t and he didn’t know why.
Rhianna bit her tongue. Totally terrified!
This is something she never expected. Louis was always playful, friendly and patient. Just, totally different from now.
“Louis, you need to calm down son. If you are angry like this, you would trigger Brina’s stress again. She just woke up and she is still exhausted.”
“Moreover, see how frightened Rhianna is. You totally scared her!” Queen Elora chided him as she walked into the room.
Following her, King Edgar, Ethan, Natalie, Eliina and Katherine came inside too.
Meanwhile, when Louis noticed the tearful eyes of his wife, his anger got suppressed, leaving him with remorse.
What the hell is he doing?
He shouldn’t let his anger take over him! He shouldn’t let it control him!!
Especially not when his wife needs him the more. She is confused and scared just like him. A little more than him, actually.
If there is something she is looking forward to, it would be his warmth, comfort and a-ssurance.
He is not yet sure of a-ssurance yet, but he could give her warmth and comfort.
Louis pursed his li-ps and closed his eyes, controlling his anger. After a few seconds his overwhelming anger subsided.
“I am sorry. I was just…. I don’t know. It’s like something took over me” Louis excusef, pinching the space between his brows.
“That’s called ‘parental love'” King Edgar smiled at his son.
When Louis was inside, Natalie told everyone about Brina’s pregnancy. It was when Ethan un-derstood why Brina was so angry at Greta and was very worried.
He doesn’t blame Brina for firing at him. He un-derstood her situation and helplessness. And, she is right about coming clean with her father.
If this is really Greta’s doing, then there is no way she would escape from the punishment.
He felt like keeping this secret from his father is not good. So, he came clean. He told his father how vicious his own mother was.
And, right from the start, Edgar had no immense love for his mother. It was just respect.
A formal respect to the Elder. As he never had a happy childhood and parental love, he was not that connected to his parents. At least not with his mother.
His father was a very good person. However, because of the heavy pressures and responsibilities as King, he couldn’t spend much time with his son.
But, when he was at home, all Edgar got was a headache. A headache from the quarrels of his parents! So, King Edgar never craved to get love from his mother anymore.
That hope died long, long back.
However, now, after knowing how inhumane his mother acted, the remaining ounce of the respect vanished too.
All he could feel now is hatred and disgust.
Meanwhile, Louis didn’t know if it was parental love like his father said or something else. However, he knew that it was a strong sense of security he felt towards his wife.
But his anger actually scared her and overthink too much.
“I am sorry, baby. I shouldn’t have fired up like this” Louis said as he walked to Brina and hug-ged her. Pressing her face to his stomach as he stood at the edge of the bed while Brina sat on the bed.
Brina smiled at him, holding his hand, she said, “I un-derstand. There is no need to be sorry”
Louis smiled at her and kis-sed her forehead before sitting beside her and holding her in his arms. “Thanks for un-derstanding. I didn’t meant to frighten you”
When Brina inhaled her favorite manly scent and heard his words, she felt all that discomfort wash away.
“I am sorry for firing at you as well, Rhianna” Louis apologized to both her and her a-ssistant.
“That’s fine. I got to see the angry version of you, which is extremely rare” Rhianna said, smiling at him.
She somehow un-derstood how he was feeling…
This is all sudden, scary and confusing.
When he cooled down and everything came back to normal, King Edgar asked,
“Rhianna dear, continue what you were saying”
“Yes, uncle” Rhianna answered. As she is also like a family Edgar insisted on calling him uncle, rather than your highness.
“What I was saying is, Brina sent me the sample of tonics Aunt Elora gave her. As those were the only intakes Brina took without fail in this whole month, she suspected that it was added with something that neutralises the shot she is given” Rhianna said.
“I got two samples, the tonic which she was using for a month and the other one she just got yesterday from aunt Elora,” she added.
“And, as Brina suspected, the first tonic was added with some different herbs that neutralises shots effort. That was the reason Brina got pregnant” she said.
“While this new tonic has some other herbs which kill the baby and make Brina miscarry. If she would have took this for thirty days, she would have become incapable to give birth”
“Thank God, she found out about these and asked me to test” Rhianna sighed in relief.
Meanwhile, everyone is in shock.
The history would have repeated itself. Louis wouldn’t have left Brina but she would have been incapable to give birth.
Thanks to Brina that she figured it out soon.
Getting pregnant is okay. Though they weren’t ready, they had this whole big family which will help them to become good parents.
Yes, they are in the middle of the war, but yeah, compared to losing the baby and no chance of becoming a mother, it is okay.
There are people who would sacrifice themselves just to protect the baby.
