Dad just got discharged from the hospital and Sam helped take him home. Things were getting better and worse now. Regan has always been a shoulder to cry on all these while.
I’ve being trying to be a good daughter to dad but he wouldn’t st©p searching for his Kaylan.
I decided to do an un-derground search for her instead and heaven knows she’s a dead girl if I find her first.
I interrogated an old security guard who was on duty on the day she went missing and he promised to get back to me.
“Keith” dad called joining me in the sitting room
“dad you should be resting”
“Am fine” he smiled and sat beside me
“How’s your search for your daughter going?” I asked irritatedly
“Keith we talked about this alre-ady I love you and have always treated you like my own”
“Then why can’t you just forget her? ” I yelled “it’s been 18 years alre-ady she could be dead”
“I’ll st©p finding her when I find out that she’s dead” dad stated and I sh0t him a scowl
“listen Keith” He began “Kaylan is the last thing I have of my wife Margaret and that’s why I nee-d to find her”
“And when that happens she becomes your heir and the world makes mockery of me”
“you both are my heir”
“Dad I won’t let anyone share your love for me” I blurted out “Kaylan is dead and gone and if she is alive then she’ll be dead soon”
With that I stormed out ignoring his calls. I entered my car and drove off to see Nathan– the old guard.
NATHAN’S HOUSE 🏡
“Thanks” I mouthed taking the glas-s of wine he offered me
“The detective c@m£” he said sitting down
“Lucas?”
“yes”
“what did he say?”
“he c@m£ to interrogate me about the child”
“and what did you tell him?”
“I told him that I wasn’t on guard at that time and the securities on guard were killed by whoever took the child”
“Is that the truth?” I asked peering into his eyes
he swallowed a lump in his throat “yes”
I flared up “you must be kidding cause you can’t possibly be keeping me waiting all these weeks for nothing”
“I’ll give you the information but you have to give me something in return”
“what do you want?” I folded my arms and crossed my legs
“I know you want her dead so you’re going to give me 60% shares of the company”
I sm-irked “Deal”
“How would I know if you’ll stick to the deal?” Nathan wanted to know
“I will okay” I half yelled “you can easily tell the police if I don’t”
“okay” he nodded and moved closer as his voice fell to a whisper
“I was watching from the roof t©p when the men c@m£ in, they were three in number they killed the guards on duty and took the child with her we-t nurse”
“who was her we-t nurse?”
“Grace, that’s the name of her we-t nurse but the corpse of the nurse was later found dead on the street after three days” he replied then continued “I was the only one who knew the child went missing that day but Lugard paid me not to tell anyone that you weren’t K”
“So where’s the child?”
He took a de-ep breath “she’s still alive and she lives at the outSk-irt of town with her foster parents who doesn’t know she’s K?”
“why haven’t you told my dad this all these while and why wasn’t she killed by her kidnappers?” I asked in confusion
“I saved her but I haven’t told your dad cause I want her wealth for myself”
“How did her foster parents get her?” I wanted to know
“I gave them to her cause they were in nee-d of a child then and they are my friends”
“Take me there”
He agreed and we drove to a small building at a small town.
“She lives here?” I asked in disgust
“yes”
“is she in?”
“let’s go see”
We got down and walked to the front porch. At the first knock, the door was opened by a young girl who I guess should be K. She had dark long girls and green iris. she was pretty but a little t©uçh of money would make her a goddess. I can’t let that happen.
“can I help you?” she asked pas-sing confusing glances at us
“I think so” I replied with a scowl
“what do you want?” she asked
“nothing” I replied sharply and cli-cked my f!ngersat her face
My ring was a c@m£ra and it takes a sh0t when you cli-ck your f!nger
“let’s go” I told Nathan and we walked back to the car
“is that the girl? ”
“yes”
“then why doesn’t she know you?”
“I never visited again after I gave her to them, I didn’t want to raise suspicions”
“what’s her name?”
“The family called her Dawn”
I nodded then turned on the engine and drove off. It was alre-ady late when we got to a dark desolate and desolate area. I st©pped the car and turned to Nathan
“Get down”
“why?”
“Now!” I seethed
“you can’t…”
I pu-ll-ed out a gun from the glove ap@rtment and pointed it to his head

He got frightened and got down
“you should had told my dad this before now and save your fv¢king life” I snarled and c0cked the gun
“what are you doing?”
“s£nding you to hell where you belong”
“you can’t do that”
“I can do anything to get KLS and all of dad’s love”
“I alre-ady…”
“shut up old man” I bellowed “Tell the devil to keep a mansion for me in hell” I pu-ll-ed the trigger and sh0t him thrice on his che-st then twice on his head to make sure he dies then I shut my car door and zoomed off 🚇
I arrived home late and dad was worried sick. pacing about in the living room and giving out others to the security guards.
“dad” I called as I entered the living room then dad dismissed the guards
“Keith” he called back and hvgged me “my child”
“dad am not a kid that you should worry about when am out”
“Am just scared and your phone was switched off”
“you don’t have to worry I won’t get missing like your daughter” I sneered and proceeded to walk out when dad pu-ll-ed me back
“What should I do to prove to you that you mean a lot to me?” he asked sadly
“I want someone dead”
“aren’t you tired of killing? All you ever do is want someone dead”
“Am not the one killing TY does the killing and I’ll only believe you love me if you do it”
He inhaled “who’s that?”
“Her name is Dawn”
“is she your opponent?”
“no” I replied “you don’t nee-d to question me all you have to do is call TY to kill her” I seethed and stormed out.
I know how much he loves me, he’s going to call TY and poor man… he’ll only be killing his precious daughter.

I woke up at the sound of the alarm which I quic-kly st©pped to avoid waking Jennifer. She was still sound asleep and she la-id beside me on the be-d.
I smiled as I recalled a week ago when I told her we would be sharing the ap@rtment. She had freaked out cause there was only one be-droom– the maid’s room. She had insisted I sle-pt on the couch and that first day was hell. I had muscle cramps the next morning but she still didn’t let me share the be-d with her. I had to fake sickness before she let me share the be-d with her on the condition that we demarcate the be-d with pillows at the middle.
I agreed because I wouldn’t survive another night on the couch.
I got up from the be-d and plodded to the bathroom to freshen up. I brushed my teeth and took my bath then walked out wearing a bathrobe.
I walked into the be-droom and Jennifer was alre-ady awake using my phone.
“Good morning” she greeted with her eyes still on the phone
“Good morning” I replied
“your girlfriend texted you”
“and you re-ad it” I said rather than asked
“maybe” she shrugged and I chuckled
“you know you’re so nosy always sticking your head in other people’s affair” I blurted out
she scoffed “Really Mr Cruse?”
“Regan” I corrected
“Mr Cruse” she insisted

“jeez… you’re so good at arguing” I said and walked into the closet
I could hear her laugh from the maid’s room
LATER 🕒
I prepared breakfast cause Jennifer wouldn’t get out of be-d. I had to f0rç£ her to brush her teeth and she ran back to the be-d and continued using my phone.
“Breakfast is re-ady” I yelled from the kitchen
“bring it here” she yelled back
“What!”
“I said bring it up here”
I huffed loudly but ended up taking the food to the maid’s room
“can I have my phone now?” I asked impatiently
“Maybe” she shrugged and shoved my phone un-der my pillow
“Jennifer I nee-d the phone”
“your girlfriend is so annoying she wouldn’t st©p texting”
“can I at least see the messages?” I pleaded
“Feed me first”
“is this a payback for what I did to you the other day?”
“I don’t repay evil with evil– my pastor taught me that and I still owe you for the surgery” she giggled and t©uçhed her face
“It made you more beautiful I bet Lucas will go gaga when next he sees you”
“I hope” she said dreamily
“can I have my phone now?”
“you should carry out face surgery on your girlfriend she nee-ds it” Jennifer said and started eating
Is that an insult?
“my girlfriend doesn’t nee-d that she 100%…”
“ugly” she completed
“you’re uglier”
“you know that’s a lie” she said and win-ked at me
I scoffed and snatched my phone from the pillow
“I’m out” I informed and turned to her
“s£nd my regards to your girlfriend”
“Make sure you don’t go anywhere”
“yes dad” she huffed rolling her eyes
I checked Keith’s messages and she asked me to come pick her up at her house. It’s a good thing I didn’t save her name with Keith else Jennifer will hate me for d@t!ngher enemy.
What makes Jennifer even think my girlfriend is ugly? I mean she hasn’t even seen her picture.
It’s just her way of insulting me.
I drove to Keith’s house and pu-ll-ed over in the driveway and got down.
“Regan” she waved from the balcony
I smiled at her
“come up here”
I nodded and headed inside. Lugard wasn’t in. I walked straight to her room and she was sitting on the be-d.
She looked sad.
“Why the long face?” I asked sitting beside her on the be-d
“My dad”
“what’s wrong with him?”
she pu-ll-ed me closer and wra-pped her hands around me
“I have a confession to make”
