Chapter 104

THE NEXT DAY

ESTATE

“I miss Noel!” Annabella whined.

“They should be here in few minutes. Stop acting like a drama queen.” Lucas who was busy on his laptop said.

“What do you mean?” She asked but Lucas smiled instead of answering. “Don’t you know this is the first time I’m sleeping without her in this house?” Annabella complained.

“You were always on your own even before you met her.” Lucas said.

“Now it’s different.”

“Stop being clingy.”

“Says a guy that wouldn’t let her go when she was unconscious.” Annabella said. Lucas took a pillow to throw at her when a video call popped up in his laptop.

“Mum wants to video chat.” Lucas said.

“Mum!” Annabella shrieked and ran to sit beside Lucas. Lucas answered and Mrs Monica’s face popped up. “Mum! Good afternoon mum.” Annabella greeted.

“How are my precious jewels doing today?” She asked.

“We’re fine, mum. Wow! You’re looking so radiant.” Lucas said.

“Thanks dear. How has San Diego been treating you guys?” She asked.

“San Diego is amazing. I learnt a lot, made friends with Noel’s sister and other things. The atmosphere is conducive. Oh mother! You need to taste the delicacies here.” Annabella said and she laughed.

“I’m glad you are having fun and mostly glad that you are fine. What about my angel?” Mrs Monica asked immediately Noel entered.

“She’s here! Noel! Mum’s on the screen.” Annabella said.

Noel smiled and hurried to the laptop. “Good afternoon, mum.” She greeted with a smile.

“My angel, how are you doing?” Mrs Monica asked.

“I’m fine, mum. How about you?” She asked.

“I’m good. Were you able to accomplish your mission?” She asked.

“Partly, yeah. But she escaped and the police are still looking for her.” Noel said.

“Don’t worry. She will be found and brou-ght to book, okay?”

“Okay. Thank you, mum.” Noel smiled.

“Just take care of yourself and be careful since she is very dangerous.”

“We will be very careful.” Annabella said.

“I am heading to a meeting now. I’ll call you guys later.” She said.

“Okay. Bye mum. Don’t stress yourself too much, okay? We love you.” Lucas said.

“Love you all more.” She smiled and hung up.

“My baby is back!” Annabella said and hug-ged Noel.

“Baby? I think reverse is the case here.” Noel laughed.

“Anyways, all that matters is that you’re back. It’s only been a day and I miss you so much. What am I gonna do if you eventually get married?” Annabella lamented.

“Stop being a drama queen.” Lucas said.

“Let me be, Lucas. You don’t und-erstand how I feel.” Annabella said.

“Are you in love with her?” Lucas teased.

“The way you’re in love with Julie?” Annabella teased back and Noel laughed.

“Wait till I lay my hands on you.” Lucas said. His phone rang and he looked at the screen and sighed.

“I bet it’s Julie that’s calling.” Annabella said.

“Go ahead, answer the call.” Noel said.

Lucas sighed and answered it.

“Hello, it’s me, Julie.”

“I know. What do you want?” Lucas asked.

“What a rude way to answer a phone call.” Annabella snapped.

“I was thinking if we could hang out tonight. Maybe, have dinner at Food Palace?” Julie requested from the other end.

“I would love to but I’m busy.” He said and was about to hang up but Noel dragged the phone from him.

“Hello, Julie. I know you’re doing good. What Lucas meant to say was that he was going to be there,” Lucas wanted to protest but Annabella covered his mouth. “What time are you guys meeting and where?” Noel asked.

“Food Palace by 7pm.” Julie said.

“Alright. He will be there.” Noel said and hung up.

“What did you just do?” Lucas asked.

“Setting up a date.” Noel answered.

“But I don’t want to go on a date.” He whined.

“Like it or love it, you’re going.” Annabella said.

“Now, let’s go shop for clothes. You need to look mesmerizing tonight.” Noel said and dragged Lucas up from the couch. “Go change your clothes so we can go to the boutique and get an outfit for your date tonight.”

Lucas had no choice but to obey them.

….

THAT NIGHT

Noel personally drove him to the place and asked him to call her when he’s done. She had dropped Annabella with Quinn since the two obviously had somethings in common.

She didn’t enter the restaurant because Maureen was not around so she decided to go wait in the parking lot.

“You look amazing tonight, Lucas.” Julie said.

Lucas smiled. “You look beautiful too.” He said.

“Thank you.” She said.

The waitress on duty served them some appetizing dishes and they ate in silence for few minutes before Julie broke it.

“So, tell me more about yourself. Your personality, the college you went to and other stuff about you.” Julie said.

“Well, I’m an introvert. I’m only lively around people I’m comfortable with. I attended an all boys school in Junior high but when I got to high school, it was mixed.

I attended a university in Chicago and after graduating in business administration and computer science, I came back to Los Angeles and opened my own company.” He said.

“Weren’t you supposed to the heir to your father’s company?” She asked.

“Yeah but my mum is the one handling everything now. She wants to put everything in place before I take over.” Lucas answered.

“She must be a very nice woman then.” Julie said.

“Yeah. How about you?” He asked and she smiled.

“I’m a Korean American citizen, I spent most of my years serving Camille that I hardly made friends.

I couldn’t make friends because she made told me that it would make me lose focus and not help her anymore.

My parents are architects and they live in Korea. I’m only here because of Camille.” She said.

“Are you their only child?” Lucas asked.

“Yeah. I know that I should be with them but it won’t work out. I wanted to survive on my own too and not be a burden to anybody.” She said and Lucas smiled.

“What university did you attend?” He asked.

“Cambridge.” She said and he chuckled.

“Cool.” He said and she smiled.

***

Noel sat in the car surfing the internet when she heard someone tapping on the window. She ignored it but when it got louder, she wound down the window and saw a guy in his early 30’s.

“How may I help you?” She asked.

“We want to inspect your car, madam.” He said.

“Why? I didn’t park my car in the wrong place so why inspect it?” She asked.

“We were given an order.” He said.

“I would love to see your ID card then.” She said.

“Sure.” He said and gave her an ID card. She looked at it then at his face to confirm if he was truly the person.

“But, I did nothing wrong here.” She said.

“Step out of the car and let’s talk.” He said.

“Why should I step out of the car?” She asked.

“Because, we need to inspect where you are seated. Don’t you know that brake failure are the reasons for most accidents lately?” He asked.

“But that would isn’t your job.” Noel said.

“Just come out.” He snapped.

Noel sighed and got out of the car. “Here I am, say what you wanna say. I’ve got no time to waste.” She said and he chuckled.

Suddenly, four other guys appeared out of nowhere. Noel gasped and wanted to enter into the car but they stopped her. She looked around for the security but they were nowhere to be found.

“The security can’t help you today, pretty.” The leader said.

“You’ll regret it if you dare come close.” She threatened, balling her fists.

“We’re well prepared for you.” He said and signalled for his men to get her.

One came but Noel flung him over her shoulder and threw him on the floor.

The rest came and she kicked them, sending them to the floor immediately. When the leader saw that she was distracted, he snuck to her back and placed a handkerchief on her nose.

She pa-ssed out immediately and he carried her over his shoulders. He brou-ght out his phone and called Camille.

“Mission Accomplished.”

Chapter 105

“Mission Accomplished.” Scott said.

“Good. Now, bring her to me.” Camille said from the other hand and cut the call.

Lucas and Julie were still talking when a message popped up in his phone.

It read, ‘A suspicious guy is outside with me here, come outside immediately you see this text message.’ Lucas stood up.

“What happened?” Julie asked, standing up too.

“Noel sent me a text message. Let’s go outside.” He said and they hurried to the parking lot.

The car was there but Noel was nowhere to be found. Lucas called and the phone rang. He searched for it and saw it on the floor.

“What happened here?” Julie asked.

“Oh No! What happened to her?” Lucas asked and ruffled his hair.

“Look, there are scratches on the car meaning that there was a fight here.” Julie said.

“If it’s a fight then Noel can handle them. If they captured her then they must have done something to her.” Lucas said.

“What do we do?” Julie asked.

Lucas sighed and took his phone. He called Gray and he picked up after the second ring.

“Hey Lucas, what’s up.” He said.

“We have a problem.” Lucas said.

“What happened to Noel? Is she okay?” Gray asked.

“Noel is missing.” He said.

“What! Where are you now? I’m coming.” Gray said.

“Let’s meet at home.” Lucas said and hung up.

He and Julie hurried home and Gray was already there. Immediately they stepped out of the car, Gray ran to meet them.

“Is it true or you’re just playing a huge prank on me? If it’s a prank, I’ll forgive you and we’ll have a good laugh, so please tell me it’s a prank.” Gray said.

“It isn’t, Gray. She sent me this text message but I saw it a little bit late.” He said as they entered the house. Gray saw it and anger rose up in him.

“This is nothing but Camille’s doing. We must not let her harm Noel, I can’t lose her again.” Gray said.

“Let’s go to my room.” Lucas said and they hurried to his room. He took his laptop and switched it on.

Gray used that opportunity to call the police. “What are you using the laptop for?” Gray asked.

“I’m going to track them down.” Lucas said.

“How?” Julie asked.

“After we found out that Camille escaped, I was worried that she would come back with a new strategy to hurt Noel.

So, I suggested that we attach a tracker in Noel’s hair, a place where it won’t be noticeable.

At first, she didn’t agree with the plan but after a little persuasion from I and Annabella, she agreed. So, I’m going to track her throu-ghthat device.” Lucas said.

“Thank you so much. Please, do.” Gray said.

Lucas tapped some keys in his laptop and Noel face popped up but the tracker was unable to load the location.

“What happened?” Julie asked.

“It’s switched off. I don’t know, I told her to leave it on.” Lucas said.

“Maybe, it was switched off by mistake after her struggling with those hoodlums.” Julie said.

“What do we do?” Gray asked.

“We have to pray for something to at least happen so it would be turned on.” Lucas said.

Gray’s phone rang, and it was his mum calling. He answered and her scream came throu-ghit.

“I was told that Noel is alive! I’m so happy. Where is she? I know you’re with her, give her the phone, I want to hear her voice.” Mrs Jasmine said.

“Sorry mum, but you can’t talk to her now.” Gray said.

“Why?” She asked. “Did something happen?” Gray was quiet. “Answer me! What happened?” She snapped.

“She was kidnapped again but we’re trying to find her.” Gray said.

“What! This can’t happen! Do not allow the mistake of last time to repeat itself.

I’m calling your father so that he can send the best security agents he has. Nothing must happen to her.” Mrs Jasmine yelled.

“Okay mum.”

“Don’t tell her parents anything yet. You know Evie is suffering from high bIood pressure, it would be dangerous if she gets to find out.” Mrs Jasmine said.

“Okay, mum. I’ll do as you’ve said.” Gray said and she hung up.

THE NEXT DAY

Noel fluttered her eyes open and felt like she was going to die. She had a terrible migraine and held her head. She looked around and saw that she was in an uncompleted and abandoned building.

She tried to stand up but her legs were tied. “So since there isn’t any chairs here, she decided to tie me like a goat.” Noel frowned.

Camille entered with a d’vilish smile on her face. “Good morning, pretty. I didn’t know we’re gonna meet like this again.” Camille said and laughed.

“Now I know that you’re not only desperate but obsessive and insàne.” Noel answered.

“You need to respect me if you want to get out of here alive, you know.” Camille said.

“I’d rather respect a de.ad fish than to respect you.” Noel blurted out.

“The guts!” Camille snapped.

Her men wanted to touch her but she stopped them.

“Noel, Elena,” Camille laughed. “So you refused to d!e?” She asked.

“There is nothing to d!e for.” Noel answered.

“You should have d!ed, and remain in the grave. You decided to come here and ruin what I have worked ha-rd to achieve.

You want to make my labour in vain. You came back with a new face and a new name then you threatened me.” Camille said.

“You only felt threatened because you knew what you did. You knew that you were wrong, yet you pretended to be a saint.

Mark my words, today is your end because it is either I kll you today or you kll me.” Noel said.

“Wow! You’re so confident,”Camille dragged her hair. “Who is in a better position? I am dragging your hair now but can you drag mine?

I can slap you now but you can’t sIap me, same way I can kll you here and now but you can’t kll me. You know why? Because you’re all tied up.” Camille said and burst into laughter.

Noel smiled. “There is no hope for the dead but there is hope for the living. Except you kll me now, I can do all these things you just mentioned.” Noel said.

“Really?” Camille snickered.

“Yeah. If you think that you can get Gray by klling me again, you are only wasting your time. You’ve lost already so just accept defeat and stop bothering us.”Noel said.

“Even if I don’t get Gray, klling you means, you won’t get him either. So, you’re the loser because I’ll be alive, and you’ll be d.ead.

After I end you, I’m going after Julie then I’ll change my name and identity and go to live a happy life in a different country. I’m sure London will be excited to have me.” Camille said.

“You’re only dreaming.” Noel said.

The trio couldn’t sleep. Gray kept making phone calls to policemen while Lucas and Julie kept trying to get a signal from the tracker.

As if it was an answer to their prayers, they started hearing a beeping sound, disclosing Noel’s location.

“We found her!” Lucas said and took his laptop.

“It’s de-ep.” Gray said.

“I know the place. It is close to where she dumped I and Teresa’s body. I may not know exactly the sp-ot but I know that bush.” Julie said.

“Then, what are we waiting for? Let’s go.” Gray said.

Gray informed the police who left for the place immediately. They freshened up and rushed out. Austin met them and they left together.
