Chapter Sixteen?️?️

JAYDEN’S POV

I pick up my training gears that I haven’t used for months since Leo’s health started deteriorating.

Leo. It’s been a month since his burial and to be honest, this has been one of the ha-rdest time of my life.

I lost my best friend Lilian and my brother on the same day but I had Leonardo.

A product of their love. I promised to cherish him and protect him forever but I failed. I failed.

I look down at my hands that have formed a fist and so I take in de-ep breaths slightly relaxing my body.

My phone buzzes on my side table and so I walk to it to find a text from my closest friend.
Dylan

I’m outside. Hurry up or we’ll be late.

The text reads and I take my gears. I had asked for a leave of about a year so that I could be with Leo.

I couldn’t focus on Leo and at the same time on basketball and so I chose Leo.

I walk down the staircase only to find mother talking to Leah and Renna reading some fashion magazine.

I p@$$ them without a word until mother’s voice stops.

“You couldn’t wait for Leonardo to leave so that you could start your stupid sport.”

She sneers just as my phone pings with another from Dylan telling me to hurry up.

I don’t say anything but only walk away. I find Dylan in a Br@nd new matte black Audi R8 V10. He gets out of his car and jogs to me and we do our handshake.

“It’s good to see you back. Everyone missed you.” He says and I snicker.

“Tell that to Riley and he’ll disagree.” He laughs a bit as we walk to his car.

“Cool car.” I say once when we’re in and he starts his endless talk about it and how he bought it. Maybe this will help me. I nee-d to get my life back on track.

We arrive at the studio where it’s dark and I look at Dylan in question. He only shrugs confused too and we walk.

Dylan opens the door that’s shut. Weird. Just as we get in, the lights turn on and strong bodies jump on me and some basketba-lls hit me.

I look around to see my team members surrounding us. They all welcome me back one by one.

They all came to Leo’s burial but I hadn’t seen any one of them since apa-rt from Dylan. “I’m better and fas-ter. Better watch out for me Williams.” I turn to a serious Riley.

“I missed you too man.” I say as I give him a bro hu-g.
Coach whistles five minutes later and we all jog to him. “Good to see you back Williams. We changed our training criteria and you’ll have to adapt it as soon as you can. I won’t be lenient to you.” He says.

Sure coach.” I respond and soon we start training. Since I left I’ve been hitting the basement gym more in order to keep fit and so the training isn’t something ha-rd and I notice coach is impressed.

“Man, I’m beat up and I have this dinner with my family.” Dylan Gr0-ns as we walk towards his car after practice.

I pat his shoulder thinking about going back to my house where we have this tense and awkard tension. It has always been there since mother lost his precious ha-rdworking and smart son. Maybe it’s time to move out.

As we reach his car, we find Riley texting on his phone. He gets up from the car he’s leaning on and walks to me. I look at him in question.

“Just wanted to say that whatever you’re going throu-gh, I’m here for you. I feel you bro. ” He pats his che-st where his heart is and leaves after I nod reluctantly.

“What just happened?” Dylan asks in disbelief but I don’t respond and we leave. The closer we get to my home the more restless I feel. Dylan continues talking about this dinner but my mind can’t grasp anything.

“We’re here.” He says and I thank him then get out. Immediately he leaves, I start walking to the house. I don’t find mother, Renna or Leah and I thank God.

I walk to my room take a five minute cold shower and after I feel better, I head towards Leo’s room. Everything is as it had always been.

I walk to his bedside table and take his locket with his parents’ faces and his on the middle and clutch it. I failed them.

The feelings that accompany me everyday intensify. Guilt, rage, sorrow and panic. I still don’t un-derstand those bastards’ end game.

Why would they kill Leo if they knew he was their key? Did they now know the chip wasn’t with him? We gave them the wrong one and I’m sure they are angry now but they haven’t contacted me or anyone else.

And Jada, what I said to her was false. She tried helping me but I spoke in pain not thinking about how an @$$hole I was to her.

I saw a glimpse of her on Leo’s burial and that was it. The only time I’ve seen her since the last time.

I went to the FBI to search for her but I was told she quit! The children’s orphanage said that she was last seen two days after Leo’s death and never again. Ryan came to me and we talked.

Leo was his friend too and he was devastated. And Jada is like a mother to him but he’s sure She’ll be back to him according to some letter she left behind.

I asked for the letter but Ryan refused saying no one could see it but he read it to me later on.

“You can’t keep living like this?” A voice snaps me from my thoughts. I look around Leo’s room to find Leah holding a plate of steak. I lower my head to it’s previous position.

“I’m happy that you’ve gone back to your basketball team even though Sarah doesn’t seem too fond of the idea.” She says as she walks towards me and sits next to my lying form.

“I never un-derstand why.” I mutter but she hears.
“She loves you in her own way. She just doesn’t like your decisions. She always saw his two sons would have this big jobs behind desks.

Jake became this known engineer and she thought that maybe you would take over her ind…”

“Leah. That’s enough.” My mother’s cold voice startles us. Leah gives me the plate and stands then leaves but my mother walks into the room. She walks around and every step she takes, the tension increases tenfold.

“I’m moving out.” I say. She continues walking touching the surfaces.

“Running away from your problems isn’t the best way to live Jayden.” She says as she turns to me her cold eyes looking down to me. I’m used to them, not like Jada’s beautiful ones but dead that make you intrigued.

They make you want to know what happened to her. What’s her story?

“I’m not running away. I just nee-d space. I nee-d to be alone.” I almost shout but she sm-irks.
“I don’t see any difference.” She says making my skin boil in anger.

“Of course you don’t. You don’t un-derstand anything about me and why would you un-derstand anything I say.

Sometimes I wish I was the dead one everytime I step into this house.” I say angrily rising up from the bed and storm out of Leo’s room.

I just got back to basketball but maybe I nee-d a real break from everything and avenge Jake’s Lilly’s and Leo’s death.

Avenge those bastards for ruining my life.

Chapter Seventeen?️?️

JADA’S POV

“One tequila.” I say to the bartender my eyes on the stage looking at one pa-rticular stri-pper. Ivy Armstrong. I’ve had eyes on her for the past twenty hours and nothing has come up.

She’s Alexis best friend who started existing six years ago with no criminal records. Not even a speeding ticket.

The bartender calls me for my shot and I take it without any hesitation my eyes on Ivy with her white wig and white lingerie.

She looks like an innocent angel. A hu-ge contrast to the photo that Cole sent me where she was dressed as a devil.

Her eyes meet mine and she gives me a seductive wink and continues dancing eyes on me.

I give her a seductive smile without breaking any eye contact.

After half an hour, she gets off the stage and I follow her until I’m stopped by two bulky men.
“She’s with me guys.”

Ivy comes and says and they move aside letting me follow her to a room labelled on Sweet Fantasy.

“Sweet Fantasy. That’s your name?” I ask my voice low and she turn giving me a sm-irk before it turns into a grin.

“Yeah. But you can call me whatever you want.” She says moving to her vanity as she takes of her ear studs.

“I’ll be on point here Ivy. What do you know about the Spiders?” I ask my voice suddenly cold and this makes her turn around facing me.

“That’s why you looked familiar.” She mumbles making me raise my eyebrows. No one knows me.

“What do you mean by that?” I ask moving closer to her as she stands tall but unsure of whether to move back or not.

“There was this guy asking if I’ve seen someone who looks just like you. He showed me a picture of you walking next to a boy.”

She says but everything she just said is false according to the breaking of her voice and twitching of her left eye. She’s anxious.

“That’s what that man wanted to know.” She says.

“What man?” I ask acting confused.
“The man with a jacket on. Drawn a spider on it’s back.” She says.

“That’s the Spider dude you’re talking about I presume?” She asks innocently and I nod. I see her pressing something on her phone in my peripheral view. I move closer to her and whisper.

“Don’t do something you’ll regret sooner than later. I’ll be back and that time I’ll want the truth.”

I say then turn my back and leave. I walk out and find the bulky men outside as I move past them.

I jog to my motorbike and I roar iys engine before ridinh as I see a man running towards me. I ride to my next target; Linda Williams.

Turns out Linda hasn’t used her last name for two years since Jacob died. She’s known as Linda Kate. Kate is her middle name.

She’s Jayden’s younger sister who works as one of the most paid DJ in the state.

Cole gave me her file two days ago. She lives in a quiet street making my motorcycle sound louder than I’m used to.

I park outside of the house that seems to hold a pa-rty disturbing the peace of the quiet place.
I look down at my phone memorizing her photo for the last time even though it’s stuck in my head.

She has icy blue eyes just like Jayden but brown hair just like Sarah.

She has always been the reserved Williams that people knew nothing about. Started using her middle name -Kate- when something occured to her at school that she had to change schools. I can’t believe I was as despicable as those bullies.

A man who looks a year or two younger than me approaches me immediately when I start walking towards Linda’s loud house.

“Cool bike. If you’re here for the pa-rty you nee-d the blue card.” That stops me in my tracks. Blue card? I turn to him and he visibly gulps when he looks at my intimidating eyes while raising his hands. “It’s just protocol.”

“I nee-d to see Linda.” I say and he stands straighter looking at me. Head to toe.

“What for? You’re not sent by the Williams are you?” He asks and I roll my eyes. Some people shouldn’t be told important things.

If I didn’t know Linda’s connection to the Williams, this dude would have already sold her out.

“No. I just nee-d to talk to her and if I waste any more minute not knowing where she is, I’ll break your fingers one by one then start with the toes. How does that sound?”

His eyes widen slightly before he composes himself trying to look Br@ve.

“Who are you…” He starts but he’s cut off by a female voice.

“Any problem here Dave?” I turn to find the one and only Linda Kate Williams.

“She’s looking for Lin and she’s not here.” He says and Linda’s eyes drift to me.
“Who are you and what do you want from Linda?” She asks.

“We nee-d to talk. Alone.” I add already knowing the type of man Dave is. He knows nothing about privacy.
“About what?”

Your brother Jacob.” I say making her eyes widen as she looks between Dave and me.

Dave looks at her questionably but she shakes her head no. She follows me to my motorbike away from the noise.

“Who are you?” She asks immediately when we reach the quieter place.

” I’m Jada Costa. I heard that you and Jacob were so close before he died. Did he leave you anything behind?”

I ask getting to the point.
“Something like what?” She asks but I have seen a fl-icker of emotion p@$$ throu-ghher eyes.

Her eyes are just like Jayden’s but duller. Her hair seems unruly from all the pins placed on different places.

She seems 5″5 tall making her slightly shorter than me.

“A chain, anything electronic. A car. You know those.”

I say and she seems de-ep in thought. As she touches her blue headphones around her ne-ck. So he got her those.

“And what exactly are you looking for?” She asks pursing her li-ps and she crosses her arms on her che-st.

“I can’t tell you anything. I’m just doing this to protect everyone in your family because that’s the least I can do.” I say sincerely surprising myself.

“Umm. I don’t think I can help you.” She says turning around. “And tell Sarah if this is some sort of game to her, she should face me on her own.” She starts walking.

“Those bastards will come for someone else. Don’t you feel any ounce of guilt that this may lead to the destruction of the rest of your family?

You might be away from them but at least you can see them from far. At least you can tell them to rot in hell. But what if they left suddenly?

Leo’s gone but who’s next?” I say my speech and she looks at me in shock as she slides down to her knees in disbelief.

“Lee’s gone? How? When?” She sobs and I look at her shocked. She didn’t know? Nobody dared to inform her? “Oh my gosh!”

She sobs placing her hand on her mouth as if coming to a realization.

“That was why Jayjay was here. Oh My God.” She lets out a cry making my heart twist. The strong woman I’ve seen a few minutes ago is gone leaving behind a hurt and broken girl.
“Linda…” I try.

“I’m so stupid. Such a coward. I hid and sent my friends to send him away.” She says p-ulling her hair.

“I nee-d to see him right away. Take me to Jayden. I nee-d to see him now.”

She sobs not realizing how she’s placing me in a ti-ght sp-ot here. I’m not supposed to see Jayden until I find Leo’s killers. Not that I can’t but I promised myself that.

“Please take me to my brother.” She crys and I nod. ‘I’ll just leave her and go away unseen.’ I decide.
