Giovanni was still staring at him in disbelief.
How was he alive?? He remembered he kílled him. He heard the car exploded.
He saw his burnt corpse, so how come he was alive??
“Yes! That’s great!” Giovanni said with a smile as he walked out of the company with Derek.
They were best friends and Giovanni had a very good position in the company tho Derek was the original owner.
“So I think this is where we bid each other goodbye.” Giovanni said and Derek nodded.
“Yes. We’ll see tomorrow.” Derek said and walked into his car.
Giovanni smirked.
“There will be no tomorrow dear friend.” He muttered staring at the moving car.
He brought out his phone and dialled the first number on his call logs and the receiver picked immediately.
“The deal?”
“It’s done sir. I tampered with the brakes as you requested and I also kept the bomb in the car. It will explode in less than three minutes from now.” The person said and Giovanni checked his wristwatch.
“Good job. I’ve wired your pay into your account.” He said and ended the call.
“Sorry Derek, but this is the price you have to pay for being a selfish friend. How can you own all this wealth and give me only a cat share of it?? Not nice at all, tsk.” He clicked his tongue looking at the company.
“Now I have all these wealth, all to myself.” He said, laughing wickedly.
“Geez you’re evil Giovanni. You took his company and you’re still kílling him?? Ugh! What a villain you are.” He said and laughed, adjusting his suit proudly.
“I should give my dear friend a call, maybe to wish him his last goodbye.” He giggled and brought out his phone, then he dialled Derek’s number and Derek picked at the last ring.
“Hey buddy! Got my surprise??” He asked but Derek never gave a reply and he chuckled.
“I guess you must still be in shock. You’re surprised isn’t it?” He laughed.
“I just wanted to wish you goodbye, since you have less than 30 seconds left.” He giggled, and he heard Derek exhaled and he laughed.
He checked his wrist watch and clicked his tongue.
“Just ten seconds left.” He smirked.
“You’ll never go scot-free Giovanni. Never!” He heard Derek said in a low tone and he laughed.
“I’m already going scot-free Derek. Tsk, I so badly wanna talk to you till tomorrow, but sadly time is ticking fast. Five seconds.” He said in a fake sympathetic tone.
“4 seconds.” He said looking at his wristwatch.
“3… C’mon can time be a little slow… Ah, 2… Goodbye Derek. My best friend. I hope you meet a worthy friend in your next life. Bye.”
“And, 1…”
BOOM!!
Giovanni let out a loud hysterical laughter on hearing the explosion.
How come he was alive?? He died in the explosion. What was happening??
Derek smiled in satisfaction on seeing the look on Giovanni’s face.
He walked up to him.
“Surprised?? I’m sure right now you have a lot of questions running through your head. Calm down. I’ll answer you today.” He smirked, before sitting on the couch, crossing his legs on each other.
Evie just stared from one person to another. If confusion was to be a person.
Tessa was visibly panicking. Derek is alive, no doubt they were bursted for real. They all knew Derek, if he has been alive all this years and never showed up for once, it’s because he had spent all those years mapping out a perfect revenge plan for them.
“Sit.” Derek gestured.
“How are you alive?? I remember…”
“That’s why you should sit.” Derek cut Giovanni off with a smirk.
“Excuse me, what’s going on here? Who the hell are you?? Dad!” Evie rasped.
“How come? Why is the brake not working all of a sudden??” Derek asked Louis, his driver who just announced to him the failure of the car brakes.
“I don’t know. It was working perfectly just this morning, why– wait, what’s that ticking sound?? Did you hear it??” Louis asked and Derek furrowed his brows.
“What ticking sound??” He asked and turned, then he saw the package beside him.
He hesitantly unwrapped it and his eyes widened on seeing it.
“A TIME BOMB!” He gasped.
“Bomb??” Louis repeated
“I should try disconnecting it.” He said.
“No sir. You can’t, you don’t know the right wire. And how many minutes is left?” He asked.
“3 minutes.” He muttered and Louis gasped.
“Jump out of the car sir.” Louis suddenly said, not taking his eyes off the road.
“What! How??”
“Just do it sir. It’s better you jump out, than díe in this explosion! Please.” He persuaded and Derek looked at him.
“What about you??”
“Just jump out, we have no time. Worry about yourself first. I’m sure you’re the one who wanted to be kílled that’s why I must save you first.” He said.
“But…” Louis finally took his eyes off the road and turned slightly to open the back door for Derek then he pushed him out of the car.
“Ahh!!” Derek screamed as he hit his head on the ground, with blood oozing from it.
The car hasn’t gone that far from him when it exploded.
“What!” Giovanni gasped.
“I was rushed to the hospital but I was in coma for complete two years.” He continued.
“At first I never knew who it was that did that abominable act but when I woke up and found out you’ve already taken over my company and even changed the name, I knew it was you all long. You sneakily transfer my property to you and still decided to end me, nice plan on your side.” He smirked.
“I dislocated my legs and I couldn’t walk on my own, so I couldn’t claim what rightfully belongs to me but I didn’t give up, and today I’m back strong and fully alright and also with my possession.” He said waving a document on his face.
“What possession??”
“The Zhang conglomerate… It’s now mine.” He smirked.
“What!!!” Evie, Tessa and Giovanni gasped.
“What rubbish!! What nonsense are you speaking!!” Evie barked.
“Calm down old lady, hypertension is real. I’m talking to your parents.” Derek shunned her.
“Dad, what’s he saying??”
“You’re alive Derek, good thing. But you’re late. Zhang conglomerate is mine, I built it from the scratch.” He said.
“Nah, you didn’t. I owned it originally, and if there’s anyone who deserves the credit for the growth of this company, it should be my very own son.” He said and Giovanni looked at him.
“Your son??” He asked as tho he didn’t hear properly.
“Yes. Jeffrey is my son. You didn’t know??… Wow.” Derek said and they all stared at Jeffrey surprisedly.
Jeffrey didn’t even look surprise at the news, as if he knew.
“Dad what is he saying?? Zhang conglomerate is his, what’s he spewing??!” Evie rushed to him.
“Here, see for yourself.” Derek threw the document at Evie, which she quickly went through. She was shocked when she read the content.
He was really right, they were no longer in possession of the Zhang’s conglomerate.
No way! This can’t be happening.
She felt her whole world crashing at the thought of that.
“Nooo!!!”
“Come in.” Derek said touching his airpod, and the door opened and Valerie walked in with a man dressed in black suit.
“Valerie.”
Jeffrey sighed in relief on seeing her and she rushed into his arms.
“Barrister, I’ll leave you to take it from here.” Derek said to the man.
“You can’t do this Derek!” Giovanni said.
“I’m already doing it.” He smirked.
“Giovanni you separated me from my family for 20 good years. I’m never forgiving you for that. I’ll make sure you wrath in jail. Trust me.” Derek said glaring at him.

“Upon reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution and the defense, and upon hearing the arguments of counsel, the court finds the defendant, Evie Zhang guilty of the charge of illegal child adoption and murder. This verdict is based on the evidence presented and the applicable law. The defendant shall now be remanded to the custody of the appropriate authorities.”
“The defendant, Evie Zhang, is hereby sentenced to 25 years imprisonment, with no possibility of parole. The defendant shall also be required to pay restitution to the victims of her crimes, in an amount to be determined by the court. In addition, the defendant shall be required to undergo counseling and rehabilitation during her incarceration… While the prosecutor, Valerie Keys, the biological mother of the child in question who’s real name is actually Alex Sanchéz takes full custody of the child… This is my judgement!” The judge said and banged his gavel on the table.
“Yeessss!!!” Valerie let out a shout of victory and hugged Jeffrey who was sitting beside her, letting out a tears of joy.
Finally!
Finally, she got the justice she deserves after how many years. She almost lost hopes at some point but she was happy she never relented.
“Rubbish! Nonsense!!” Evie protested immediately and every eyes turned to her.
“This is nonsense! I’m not going into that hellhole! Let go of me! Leave me!!!” Evie shouted as she was been taken away and Valerie smiled happily.
“Congratulations sis. I’m happy you finally got your justice.” Fawn said to her and she smiled at him. Then she hugged him.
“Fawn.” She muttered and Fawn smiled.
“You deserve it sis. You’re setting a good example to all young ladies out whose right has been trampled on and can’t speak up for themselves. I feel like the luckiest brother on earth to have a sister as you.” He said and Valerie smiled and broke the hug.
“Thank you kid bro.” She said.
“Congratulations Madison. It’s all over now.” Derek said to her and she hugged him tightly, smiling.
“Thank you so much dad. You made this possible for me. Thank you. I love you!” She said crying on his shoulders.
“I love you too my dear! Your happiness is my priority, and I must say you’re a brave girl. It takes a lot of courage for anyone to do what you did. And I’m glad the bold step you took paid off.” Derek said stroking her hair and she smiled.
She suddenly broke the hug and smiled.
“Thanks dad. You were the only who saw the true me even when I didn’t explain things to you. Even when I chided you, you still had my back.” She said, blinking her eyes.
She was so emotional right now.
“Your happiness is my happiness.” Derek said and she chuckled.
She looked around and saw June who was smiling at her with tears in her eyes.
“June.” She called and June rushed to hug her.
“I’m so sorry Valerie. I never knew my sister was this vile. I apologize for what you had to go through.” She said and Valerie smiled.
“It’s not your fault June.” Valerie said and June smiled.
“I’m glad you’ve gotten your justice.” She said and Valerie smiled.
She looked around when she noticed someone was missing.
Where was Jeffrey who was just sitting right here??
As if Derek also noticed, he asked.
“Where’s Jeffrey??”

Valerie could be seen waiting in the visiting room when the door opened and the police walked in with Evie. She was now wearing the prisoner’s outfit.
Evie glared hatefully on seeing here.
“What the heck are you doing here??” She barked.
“To see you.” Valerie smiled widely and that pissed Evie off.
“By the way, you look stunning in this prisoner’s outfit, how about you model with it?” Valerie smirked and Evie glared at her.
“You can never understand how excited I am seeing you here. It feels like a dream come true, oops! It actually is. I told you I was gonna achieve my dream of bringing you here and I did. I hope you enjoy your stay here.” She said with a smile and Evie smiled back.
“No, you should enjoy this moment while it lasts because my comeback will be dangerous. This is not the end of it Madison! It’s not! I’ll be back, I’ll be back trust me!” She warned seriously and Valerie laughed.
“You’ll be back?? When?? 25 years later?? When you’ve grown tooth and nails??” Valerie laughed.
“I know it’s hard for you to accept defeat baby girl but it’s crystal clear that defeat is yours. I hope you enjoy your stay in this cold place. Bye.” Valerie winked before walking away.
Evie folded her fist angrily, staring at Valerie’s disappearing figure.
“No… This is not the end! It can never be.” She muttered, clenching her jaws.
“Time up. Go–”
“Shut the f*”k up!!”

“Yes. That’s what happened. I found out Glenys was cheating on me on my wedding night. I couldn’t hold it in, I was heartbroken but I didn’t wanted to call off the wedding, so I thought marrying someone else on our wedding day would be the better punishment to give her that was why I got married to you.” Leroy explained, while stroking Alecia’s hair.
She had her head on his chest.
“Jeez, I always knew that girl to be a sneaky bítch. Ugh! I’m sorry about that.” She said and he smiled.
“It’s fine now. At least, it led me to the true love of my life.” He said and Alecia smiled and turned to him.
“So, our contract is slowly coming to an end. Will you divorce me?” She asked and Leroy chuckled.
“Seriously??” He asked and they both laughed.
“But why would you think that??” Leroy asked.
“It’s a contract marriage remember?” She said and he chuckled.
He turned her to face her.
“Contract or no contract, I’ve come to love you Alecia. I’m never letting you go. If you think it’s still a contract marriage, then let’s make it real. I love you Alecia.” He said and placed a kiss on her lips.
“I love you too Leroy.” She said and reconnected their lips.
Leroy held her waist, as he savoured her plump and soft lips in relish.
Alecia immediately broke the kiss as she felt the sudden urge to puke.
“What’s wrong??” Leroy asked and the urge came again.
She held her chest and ran into the bathroom, then she poured everything in her stomach.
“Are you alright?” Leroy holding her shoulder.
Alecia closed her eyes and opened, she was feeling extremely dizzy.
“I’m–” she passed out on his chest before she could complete her statement.
“Alecia!!”

Jeffrey, Valerie and Derek stood at the doorstep of Rita’s small house.
Valerie was actually carrying Leo. Jeffrey placed a knock on the door, and they heard a response from inside.
The three exchanged glances before facing the door, which opened just then and Rita’s face popped out.
“Jef–”
The rest of his name stuck in her throat the moment she saw Derek. Shock could be seen clearly written on her face as she stared at him.
“Rita…” Derek called softly and she gasped.
She blinked her eyes repeatedly.
“You’re alive??” She asked.

“I’m sorry for leaving you Rita.” Derek said to Rita who had her back on him.
Jeffrey and Valerie excused them so they were alone in the house.
“20 years! For 20 good years! You left me all alone with Jeffrey. I thought you were dead but you were alive, you never came to look for us, why?!” She yelled at him.
“I’m sorry Rita, I understand how you feel. But trust me, I never left you. Give me sometime to explain to you what happened, please.” He said and Rita looked at him.
“Please Rita, listen to me, please.” He persuaded and Rita looked at him.
Derek walked closer and held her chin, then he wiped her tears with his thumb.
She chuckled in tears and hugged him.
“I missed you Derek.” She said, hugging him tightly.
“I missed you too Rita. More than you could ever imagine.” He said and she chuckled in his chest.
He placed a kiss on her forehead, and smiled, holding her in his arms.

“Don’t you think they must have rounded up with their reconciliation??” Valerie asked Jeffrey as they stood outside.
“I don’t know, lemme check.” He said and left.
Valerie exhaled, patting Alex who was sleeping on her shoulders.
Jeffrey came back shortly, smiling.
“I think we should just leave those two. They won’t come out today.” He said and Valerie raised a brow.
“Why??”
“I guess they finally realize that I need a sibling.” He said and Valerie gasped.
“Really!” She laughed.
“Let’s go.” Jeffrey said and opened the car door for her and she got in.
He got in as well.
“Where are we going??” Valerie asked and Jeffrey shrugged.
“I don’t know. Anywhere you want to go.” Jeffrey said and Valerie smiled.
“I have no idea.” She said and Jeffrey smiled.
“So, how about we go somewhere relaxing. Just you, Alex and I.” He said and she smiled.
“Sure.” She said and Jeffrey smiled and looked at her.
“Music??” He asked and she nodded, then he played, ‘I love you’ by Celine Dion.
Valerie smiled.
He suddenly placed his hands on hers which was resting on Leo’s legs.
Valerie looked at his hands and back at him, and the two smiled like two teenage lovers, looking away.
Leo smiled in his sleep.
And the song continued playing in the background.
