“Calm down,Clary,Adrian is fine,we will look for him after school”
“That’s not the issue,i alre-ady know where he is,i just really nee-d to see him,to explain”
“Explain what?”
“Everything Derek said”
“But You and Adrian are just friends..right?” Shannon asked and i looked away.
Are we really just friends? I do feel some kimd of way around Adrian.
“Claribel,do you have feelings for Adrian?”
“…No,i don’t”
“Are you sure? You took sometime to answer”
“Shannon,i alre-ady said no”
“Okay”
Throu-gh out the day,i avoided Derek because i just didn’t want to see him,all i could think of was Adrian.
Immediately the school bell rang for closing,i gr@bb£d my bag and rushed out.
I started running so fast to the garden, that’s the only place i know Adrian is.
I finally got and behold he was there sitting on the bench, I walked slowly towards him.
“I thought you would be getting re-ady for your d@t£”He said without turning to look at me.
“How did you know it was me?”
“Am so used to you that i can smell you from where am sitting and besides it’s only the both of us that know this place”
I sat beside him on the bench,i made him face me.
“I can explain” i said and he chuckled.
“Explain what?”
“Derek just asked me out and i wasn’t even expecting it”
“Why do you feel the nee-d to explain?”
“Because.. because you are my friend”
“Just your friend?”
“My close friend, I mean”
“Claribel,the fact that am your close friend as you say doesn’t make you want to explain anything to me,i have no right over you”
“You.. you just walked away,i just thought you would be angry”
“Am not angry”
“Then why did you walk away?” I asked and he sighed.
“Have this” he said and brou-ght out the box i saw him with earlier.
“What’s in it?”
“Open it and see”
I opened it and it was a golden n£¢klace,it had the name Clarian engraved on it.
I looked at him.
“What? If you don’t like it,i could change it”
“I don’t like it,i love it” i said and giggled.
“It’s beautiful,you even remembered the name of our teddy bear,Clarian”
“Don’t even remind of that,Miss Johnson,i only put that name because it’s a combination of our names” he said and i rolled my eyes.
“Help me put it on”
I turned around and put my hair forward,the electricity i felt when his hand t©uçh my ba-re back was amazing.
“Done” he said and i turned around.
“Thanks, Adrian”
“It’s nothing”
“So you haven’t answered my question..why did you walk away?”
He ran his hand throu-gh his hair ma-king some of them stand.
“Claribel,i alre-ady said it’s nothing,i just walked away because i nee-ded space and besides my che-st was aching me”
“Really? Have you taken your pills?”
“Yes,Clary”
We stayed quiet for a while, i looked at Adrian and he was looking at me but he looked away immediately.
I laughed and pla-yfully hit him on his arm.
“You were totally drooling over me”
“No,i wasn’t”
“You were totally drooling,you don’t have to be shy,i know am irrestible” i said and we started laughing.
I scooted close to him and wra-p my arms around his w@!st.
“Don’t you have a d@t£ to prepare for?”
“Nope,i want to be here.. with you, here” i said and he chuckled.
He placed his arm around my shoulder, then he k!$$£d my forehead.

The next day.
“Claribel”
I turned and it was Derek,Gosh,what does he want?
We were in the school hallway,almost everyone were in clas-s.
“Derek,Good morning”
“Why have you been avoiding me?”
“I didn’t know how to tell you that i really don’t want to go on a d@t£ with you”
“It’s because of Adrian Coleman, he told you not to go out with me”
“That’s not true, i just don’t have time for relationsh!p”
“Or it’s because Adrian is so selfish that he wants you all to himself”
“Am not listening to any of these”
“He doesn’t want anything special with you and he also doesn’t want you to have anything special with someone else”
I walked away.
📘 Chapter 14📘
😍 Adrian’s P.o.v😍
Claribel walked into the clas-s looking disturbe-d,she sat two cgairs away from me, which is normal.
I was about to call her name but the teacher walked in.
I took out a piece of paper and scribbled an ‘Are you Okay?’ note,then threw it at her.
She re-ad it and smiled at me giving me a thumbs up that she’s okay.
Somehow i didn’t believe her,she looked like she was thinking about something.

“Clary,are you sure you are okay?” I asked as we walked out of the clas-s.
“Um..yeah,yeah,am okay”
“Did Derek do something to you because if he did,i will rip him ap@rt”
“No,he didn’t do anything,am fine, Adrian”
“Okay,if you say so, let’s head to the cafeteria”
We walked into the cafeteria together, Derek’s and my eyes met,i glared at him before looking away.
Claribel was alre-ady chatting with Shannon.
They whispered something to each other and she giggled.
Her smile is so beautiful and her laughter is something i would love to hear all day.
“Adrian!!” Claribel yelled out jo-lting me out of my thoughts.
“Uh..what?”
“We were calling you for 5 minutes now”
“Sorry,i zoned out”
“Or you were busy Day-dreaming of Claribel” Shannon said and Claribel nudged her elbow.
“What? He was practically drooling over you”
“Shut up, Shannon”I said and threw a paper at her which she dodged.
“Look, another guy is drooling over you, Claribel” Shannon said and we looked at the direction she was looking at.
Derek was basically starring at Claribel, he smiled at her but she looked away.
“Claribel,if you don’t feel comfortable,i can just go over and punch him in the face”
“Adrian,i alre-ady said no violence”
“Alright, alright,fine”
“But i have to admit,Derek is really cute”Shannon said and we looked at her weirdly.
“What? Am d@t!ngIsaac,am not blind”
“plea-se, let’s not talk about Derek”

Few hours later.
💖 Claribel’s P.o.v💖
School was over,i was getting my as-signment from my locker, Adrian was outside waiting for me.
“McKenzie” A voice said from a distance,i looked and it was Derek.
“How in the world did you get to know my middle name?”
He c@m£ closer to me.
“I always try to find out information on people i take interest in”
“Derek,i don’t know you are pla-ying but am not falling for your tricks” I said and he chuckled.
“If i was pla-ying a game,you would fall immediately”
He walked closer to him,i moved back till my back hit my locker.
He looked into my eyes like he was looking for something.
“You are so beautiful.. just like her”
“What..what are you talking about? Who are you talking about?” I asked nervously.
“Marnie, You remind me of her so so much, that’s why i feel so drawn to you” he said with his breath hitting my face.
I looked into his eyes and i knew he was hurt, someone must have hurt him.
“Who…
I st©pped talking when i heard footsteps, Derek backed away from me and walked away.
Adrian and i just looked at each other.
“He..he just…
“I don’t nee-d the details, let’s go home” He said coldly and walked away.
The drive back home was so quiet and tension filled the air around us.
“I thought we were going to the garden like we planned” i said as Adrian st©pped in front of my house.
“Change of plans,am not in the mood”
“Adrian, Derek and I weren’t doing anything”
“I told you that i don’t nee-d details”
“At least look at me when you are talking”
“Why?” He snapped, then he sighed.
“Claribel,i nee-d to be alone”
Without saying anything,i stepped out of the car and he immediately zoomed off.

📘 Chapter 15
😍 Adrian’s P.o.v😍
After driving home,i went to my room, thankfully my mom wasn’t around to ask me questions.
I la-id on my be-d, facing the ceiling,images of Derek and Claribel in the hallway clouded my head.
I don’t know why i feel this vulnerable?
She’s ma-king me feel things that i don’t want to feel, it’s like she has control over me.
I took my drawing pad and a pencil,this is the only thing that calms me down.
I started drawing having no idea what i was drawing,i just kept moving so fast against the drawings pad.
I st©pped when i realized what i drew,it was Claribel,i drew her without even noticing.
I took the paper into pieces and threw it away.

💖 Claribel’s P.o.v💖
“What do you mean you two fought?” Shannon asked over the phone,after Adrian dropped me off,i dressed up and went to work.
I called Shannon and told her everything.
“We fought, Shannon and honestly i don’t know why”
“Clary,i think Adrian is jealous”
“Jealous of what? He is my friend”
“You are still not getting it”
“Getting what, Shannon?”
“That Adrian is in love with you,he obviously has feelings for you”
“Oh,no,Shannon, don’t start with that,He doesn’t love me,we are friends”
“Yes,he does and you love him too” Shannon said and i sighed.
“Shannon,we will talk later,i have to work”
I ended the call and resumed attending to customers.
I was taking the order of a man and his wife.
“Can you take my order?” A voice said,i turned and it was Derek.
He looked surprised as i was.
“What..what are you doing here?” I said quietly trying not to cause a scene.
“Claribel? You work here?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know,am sure you followed me,Stalker”
“I swear to you,i didn’t follow you,i c@m£ here to eat, that’s all”
“We nee-d to talk” He added while i just rolled my eyes.
“No,you are causing trouble between i and Adrian,he doesn’t trust you and i don’t too”
“Claribel, plea-se,i really nee-d to talk to you” he said with an innocent face.
“Okay,fine but it has to be after my shift,so you will have to wait”

“Okay, let’s talk” I said as we sat down on a bench in front of the restaurant.
I can’t believe he waited for me to finish my shift,it was really late in the night.
“First of,am really sorry if i caused any rift between you and Adrian,it was never my intention.
I only took a liking to you because you remind me of Marnie”
“Who is Marnie?”
“My Girlfriend”
“Okay,so i remind you of Marnie,why don’t you go meet her?”
“She’s dead”He said with a really sad tone.
“Am really sorry, I didn’t mean to..
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault, the first time i saw you in clas-s,you reminded me of her so much, with the hair and the way she smiles and the fact that the libr@ry bis like her favorite place in school”
“How.. how did she die?” I managed to ask.
“Car accident,she was coming back from a trip with her dad, the car br@kes failed and she died on the sp©t.
I..i didn’t get the chance to say goodbye,we were ap@rt for 2 weeks and i was so happy when she told me that she was coming back”
We were both crying,on the outside he looks so emotionless, but on the inside he has alot of pains.
“Am..am sorry,so sorry,Derek”
“I moved to America so that i could forget her”
“But now i keep reminding you of her,how do i st©p that?” I asked and he chuckled.
“You can’t, you are just being you, it’s only a coincidence that you both behave alike.
It’s a good thing, seeing you brings me closer to her”He said and we chuckled.
“Am sorry for asking you out”
“It’s okay,Derek,i just hope we can be friends”
“Friends,it is” He said and i stood up.
“I have to get going”
“Let me drop you off, I c@m£ with my car”
“Okay”
The drive home was quite interesting,Derek and l kept telling stuffs about each other,he seemed to have really loved Marnie because anytime je mentions her name,his face lits up.
“This is my house” i said as we st©pped in front of my front porch.
“Isn’t that Adrian?” Derek pointed out,i looked throu-gh the window and Adrian was there looking at us.
“I have to go, thanks for the ride”
I quic-kly got out of the car and ran towards Adrian.
There was slience between us, Adrian kept looking around.
“If you c@m£ here to talk to me,at least look me in the eye” i said and he sighed.
He turned to face me.
“Am sorry” he said while di-pping his hands in his pocket.
“For?”
“For yelling at you,for over reacting,am sorry”
“Well,i forgive you even though you didn’t let me explain myself”
“Am sorry,i messed up”
Adrian looked at the direction of Derek’s car leaving.
“So he picked you from work?”
“Yeah and he apologized for anything he caused”
“Let’s not talk about him,how about we go to the garden tomorrow?”
“Sure thing” i said and we hvgged.
