❣️Episode 33❣️

????Brenden’s pov????

“What did you just ask me?” I asked, looking offended right now.

Why will they ask me such a question?

How can I possible have feelings for Gwen? Does that even make any sense at all?

Fuc-k, love?

Tsk, that word su-ckbig time.

They both shot their hands in the air as if in surrender, smirking.

“It was only an harmless question, Brenden. You don’t have to get so worked up about it.” Arthur said, still smirking like some Fuc-king idiot.

How did I become friends with these two idiots?

“But honestly though, we really love how much you care for Gwen. And I think you both will make such a wonderful couple.” Davis winked, earning a punch on his arm from me. “Ow!”

“I won’t hesitate to punch you right on the face if you try tease me again.” I warned.

Davis sighed. “Saying that make me remember Gwen…Fuc-k, I miss that crazy girl.”

I smiled…

Me too.

But hey, there’s no way I have any kind of feelings for her and even if I do feel something for her, it will only just be to have se-x with her and nothing else.

Love wasn’t part of my dictionary and it never will….

????Narrator’s pov????

“You are here….again.” Mia said, smiling as she motioned Brenden to take the empty seat beside her.

Brenden smiled back at her and sat down before handing her the tuli-p flowers he got for Gwen.

Mia collected the flower and dropped it on the table beside Gwen’s bed.

She let out a de-ep sigh, looking back at Brenden.

“You’ve never missed a day to visit her.” She began, breaking the silent.

“I can’t.” Brenden stated, staring down at Gwen who haven’t still woken up or better still, stir up in her sleep.

Indeed, she was in a very de-ep sleep… probably in the land of the non-living.

Six days, thirty minutes and twenty-seven seconds and there was still no good news from the hospital.

He would be leaving town very soon with his father, he really wanted to see Gwen up before taking off but what if she doesn’t wake up before then?

He thought to himself, his gaze were still fixated on her pale but yet beautiful form.

How can one be this beautiful and yet sick? He thought to himself, as a small smile played at the side of his li-ps.

Honestly, he miss her so much and he wasn’t going to deny that.

School without her was so boring, annoying and frustrating.

He hardly attends cla-sses and that’s because his seat partner wasn’t there to fight with him.

Who would believe it that a time will come when he will miss fighting with Gwen?

Who would believe it that a day will come when he will refuse to sit with anyone in clas-sunless that person was Gwen?

No one, right?

He doesn’t believe so as well.

Mia was just staring at Brenden, smiling at him.

“You must be really close to her.” She said in a whisper, looking over at her daughter.

Was he???

Maybe yes….maybe not.

Besides, if it wasn’t because of him, Gwen wouldn’t be here right now fighting for her life.

*Why do you always have to be the one to appear in front of me all the time!?* Her question rung over and over again in his head.

To be honest, he wish he didn’t ran into her that night.

He wish his father had just locked him up in a closet, far away from people like Gwendolyn….maybe that way, she wouldn’t be in this very condition right now.

But then again, would you cla-ssify their relationship as being close?

He wouldn’t cla-ssify it that way, though but he wish they were actually close…he wish they were friends and not just seat partners who hate each other’s guts.

He shrugged. “I wish we were.” That was all that left his li-ps.

Mia grabbed a jug of water and poured some for Brenden then handed it over to him.

“I’m fine…” Brenden said calmly but Mia still insisted that he collect the cup from her.

“You need it.” She told him warmly, smiling.

Brenden collected the cup from her and took a sip from it. “Thank you.”

There was a long comfortable silent between them as each of them were just staring at Gwen, hoping for a miracle to happen.

“What about your sister?” Mia questioned, breaking the ice once again.

Brenden wasn’t the only one who visit Gwen all the time. Alexis hardly miss a day without checking up on her.

And whenever she does, she always tell Gwen stories about herself and school and how she miss her so much.

Arthur, Pearl, Kathy and Davis always visit Gwen as well.

Sometimes everyone will be in the ward, talking about one thing or the other and other times they will add Gwen into the conversation by asking her a question concerning the matter they were arguing about but she wouldn’t say anything due to her predicament.

Cleo also never misses a day without coming over with boxes of Cupcakes she personally made for her best friend.

Though the cupcakes will only end up wasting because she(Cleo) refuse to let any other person eat the cupcakes.

Mia never cease to be amaze over the kind of friendship her daughter have here in New York City.

She was glad that people like them were around her daughter, strengthening her with the possible way they could think of.

This was the kind of life she wanted for a child _a life filled with love, care and attention_

Even though James parents hated her, they still showed love to their granddaughter and they always make sure that she(Gwen) never lacked anything in the hospital.

Will her conscience let her take Gwen away from New York back to Boston?

What if Gwen have grew to love New York just within this little period of her staying here?

“She has some personal stuff to attend to, I guess.” Brenden said with a shrug of his shoulder.

Mia nods her head, reaching out to hold Gwendolyn’s.

After disclosing her intentions to James parents,,,they just acted to not hear her and went inside the ward, giving her the we_shall_see look.

She actually do meant what she said about taking her daughter back but with what she have seen here so far after coming here….she was almost having a change of heart. Almost.

“It must be really important.” She said.

“But I’m sure she will be here later in the evening.” Brenden stated.

“I heard you will be leaving for Europe next tomorrow for a business trip with your father.” She said.

Brenden hesitantly nodded his head. “Yeah.”

“Is that why you always spend most of your time here? Because you feel guilty of leaving Gwen?” She asked.

“Yes.” He simply answered.

“You don’t have to feel guilty about anything, Brenden. You didn’t do anything wrong or whatsoever. It was only an accident that you bumped into her that night. And I’m sure my Gwen doesn’t blame you for it.”

“But…. I caused it.” He mumbled.

She shook her head, holding Brenden’s hand in hers. “You didn’t. It was only an accident, okay?”

“But,”

She cuts him off. “Gwen wouldn’t like it if you keep arguing with her mother.”

They both started laughing, staring back at Gwen.

“I miss her.” The words were out before he could stop them.

Mia smiled. “Me too.”

*****

“That’s hilarious.” Brenden laughed, taking a bite of the crispy chicken.

Mia laughed as well. “I know right. But my daughter is as crazy as me, trust me.”

Two hours and they’ve were still talking about Gwendolyn’s funny childhood.

If Gwen wasn’t asleep right now, she probably would have stopped her mother from talking.

Brenden find himself laughing over and over again.

For the first time, he forgot about his life, his pain, and the trip he have with his father.

And that’s because of the story of Gwen…her experience kind of put his uneasy life to ease.

She wasn’t here right now but she still have a way of making him happy.

“So how did she get it back?” He asked now, grinning from ear to ear.

“She didn’t get it back…she stole it back.” Mia responded.

“What?” Brenden asked in disbelief, his eyes were wide open and his mouth were handing open but the smile were still evident on his face.

“She even came up with some rules…” Mia paused, staring at her daughter. “Her rules were just like mine…” She took out a book and handed it over to him.

Brenden opened it and glance throu-ghit, still smiling.

#Gwen’s rules:
*Don’t cross my path, Don’t touch my baby, Don’t tell me how to live my life, Don’t look down on ladies, Don’t treat ladies as trash, Respect ladies and treat them nicely, Don’t hit ladies. Don’t bully those ones who feels lesser of themselves.*

He broke her rules….he crossed her path, he made her baby crash, he accused her of being g-ay, he looked down on ladies, he treat ladies as trash, he doesn’t respect them and neither does he treat them nicely…but no, he haven’t hit any one and he never planned on doing so.

But nevertheless, he broke all or her rules and maybe that’s why she hates him so much like she do.

He was nothing but a complete coward. A psycho.

The smile on his face faded into a de-ep frown as he kept going throu-ghthe rules over and over again.

Mia saw the sadness on his face, she was going to talk when the door to the room creaked open and Lexi walked in.

“Mia,” She called out softly, going over to Mia, she bent over and ki-ssed the woman on her cheeks. “How are you?”

“I’m fine dear. I just asked of you but Brenden said you had some personal issue to attend to…are you done with them now?”

“Yes, I am.” She looked over at her brother. “So this is where you have been hiding, huh?”

Brenden chuckles lightly. “What can I say?”

Lexi rounded the bed and went to sit down at the other side, opposite from where Mia and Brenden sat.

She looked down at Gwen, smiling. “Hey, I’m here again.” She tucked a strand of hair from Gwen’s face to the back of her ear, ignoring the stares that were boring into her skull from both Mia and Brenden.

“Have you eaten?” Mia asked Lexi, killing the awkwardness.

Lexi nodded her head, sitting down. “Yes. What about…ah, you both have clearly eaten.” She said, referring to the unfinished crispy chicken in front of them.

“We were hungry!” Mia stated with a shrug, smiling.

“What about Cleo?” Lexi asked, looking around.

“She’s home. Probably busy but I’m quite sure she will be here any moment from now.”

There was a long pause again…

“I should leave you both alone with Gwen.” Mia stood up to her feet. “I will be back.” With that said, she walked out of the ward, leaving just Lexi and Brenden.

“You didn’t tell me you were going to come here.” Lexi said as soon as Mia slammed the door shut behind her.

“You know I’ve always come here to see her, right?” Brenden sighed, shutting the small book closed and dropped it in his pocket. “Have you sort out the issue between you and Rowan?” He now asked.

“Yeah. Though he is a little upset with me for focusing more on Gwen and not our relationship. I feel guilty.”

“Because of Rowan? Did he say any mean thing to you?” Brenden asked, switching to his protection mood of his sister.

“No. I feel guilty because of the look in his eyes. He’s hurt and it’s all my fault.” She said.

Brenden let out a de-ep breath, running his fingers throu-ghhis hair. “Gwen is your friend, her health matters to everyone. If Rowan can’t wait for you then he can go and die for all I care!”

“Brenden,” She called throu-ghgritted teeth, fake glaring at him.

Brenden smiled. “You know I love you, right?”

Lexi mirrored her brother’s facial expression and nodded her head. “Yeah. And I love you more.”

She gro-aned as her eyes peeled open a little,,,all she could see was white ceilings and a fan, rolling in a slow pace.

Her head were throbbing….as much as she wants to move, she couldn’t and her eyes were just too heavy.

She tried opening her mouth to talk but no words left it…

She was like a pile of lone wood. She tried moving her hand as well but couldn’t, and no, it wasn’t because of how weak she was but it was rather because of something preventing her from moving it.

She slowly and steadily moved her head to her right and found herself staring down at sleeping Brenden who was holding her hand firmly.

She tried moving her other hand but it was also impossible. She looked over and found sleeping Alex holding it as well.

She was trapped between the two siblings and funny enough she kinda liked it.

“A… Alex,” She croaked barely getting the words out of her mouth but it was enough to stir them both in their sleep.

She tried pulling her hand from Brenden’s grasp so she could reach out to Alex but couldn’t…but it made Brenden wake up.

He yawned, sitting upright when his eyes suddenly rested upon Gwen who was staring right back at him.

His eyes bulged out immediately. “Gwen?” That woke Lexi up as well.

“Gwendolyn…oh my God!” Lexi squealed at the top of her voice, coming up to her feet. “I will go and call the doctor right n…”

The throbbing in Gwen’s head increased whilst she fell unconscious again, the heart monitor beside her started beeping loudly.

“What’s… what’s going on?” Lexi questioned, looking very worried. “Gwen, please wake up…”

Brenden quickly pressed on a bu-tton by the side of the bed. Minutes later the doctor and three nurses rushed inside the ward.

“You two get the defibrillator and you, send the two kids out. Now!” The doctor instructed.

The two nurses left to get what was asked of them while the other nurse walked towards Brenden and Lexi who looked very much worried.

“You both should please leave now…” She said politely.

“No, I need to see that’s she’s okay. Please…” Lexi cried.

“She will be if you both leave now unless you will distract us.” The nurse said, opening the door for the two of them.

Brenden wrapped his arms around his sister and pulled her along with him out of the room.

The two nurses returned back with the defibrillator.

Brenden and Lexi just stood outside of the door, gazing inside the room from the see-throu-ghglas-son the door as they watch the doctor try reviving Gwen with the defibrillator but suddenly,

The heart monitor stopped reading….
