❣️Episode 32❣️

?Narrator’s pov?

“What do you mean by I can’t go in there to see my grandchild?” She asked angrily, frowning at her son.

“Mia is in there and I don’t…” James began but she cut him off.

“Oh, she’s here in New York now? Wait, did she put you up to this?” She questioned in annoyance.

“Mom, you don’t have to always accuse Mia of every single decision I make!” James snapped out.

She smiled deviously, shaking her head at her son’s outburst at her. “Every stupid decision you’ve ever made began the very first day that thing came into your life. So yes, I blame her for everything!” She spatted angrily.

Her husband, Mr Raymond wrapped his arms around to wife’s shoulder, trying to calm her down.

“Calm down, honey. We are at the hospital, remember?”

“I don’t care! How can I be stopped from seeing my grandchild, huh? Does that even make any sense at all?” She turned to look at James, pointing her index finger at him. “If you don’t let me in right now, I will do something that we might both regret.” She threatened, narrowing her eyes.

James was still going to refuse her when the door to Gwen’s room creaked open to reveal Mia standing in front of them with a de-ep frown on her face.

She stared in between the three family, not even greeting neither of the parents.

The memory was still there…their hurtful words that could make one commit suicide was still at the back of her heart, refusing to free her from the shame.

They treated her like trash.

They belittled her all because of the love she had for their son.

They rejected her when she told them about her pregnancy.

She was an object of ridicule.

They made life so unbearable for her. She even started thinking of committing suicide so she could end her life and that of her unborn child…she was afraid of bringing her child to a world as cruel as this.

But she just couldn’t…Her conscience didn’t let her to do it and honestly, she was glad that she didn’t make that foolish decision or else she would have regretted it for the rest of her life in hell.

And James…the idiot didn’t do anything to defend her from his family’s wickedness.

He couldn’t stand by her, he was a weakling who can’t even stand up for the ones he claim to love.

How pathetic!

In as much as she hated his parents…she hated James more. And she will never forgive them for everything they did to her.

But come to think of it, why the hell did she let them back into her life?

She should have just blocked them off forever.

Why did she let him back into her life and into that of her child? Now look at it,,, her child is in the hospital fighting for her dear life!

Her only source of happiness, the only thing that’s keeping her alive…right now, she was like an empty bucket, waiting patiently to be filled and the only one who could possibly do that was lying on the hospital bed, unconscious.

But she didn’t want to deny her daughter the life of having a family. She didn’t want to deny her the life of having a father…a father who will be able and capable of providing her the life that she truly deserve.

She might have provided well for Gwen but James would definitely do more because he was financially stable compare to herself.

Mia took in de-ep few breaths, trying her best not to lash out on them for no just reason.

“Here comes the witch,” Elena, James more said, staring at her in disgust.

Mia ran her we-t tongue over her dried li-ps, “If you want to see Gwen then feel free to do so but please do not make any unnecessary noise close to my child.”

“What did you just say?” Elena asked, taking a step towards Mia. “You despicable wretch! Tsk,” She clic-ked her tongue. “I was so happy the day you left town and buried yourself along with commoners like yourself but never did I imagine that you will put my grandchild in that position as well.” She paused. “But I have no problem now that my grandchild is here now, mingling with people of her clas-sbut,” She glanced at Mia from head to toe, scrunching up her face in complete disgust. “I don’t seem to get why you show your ugly face in front of me.”

Mia clenched her fist, trying to calm her nerves down not to punch this old hag even with the fact that the woman has given her a reason to react, Mia still chose to be polite.

“I didn’t come here for you…I am here for my child.”

“Your child?” She scoffed. “Or you are here to win James heart back probably because you are dying of poverty!”

“Mother!” James called out warningly. “Enough with the insults. You can’t keep doing this whenever you cross path with Mia. Don’t forget she’s the mother of your grandchild.”

“Unfortunately.” Elena said depressingly. “And hey, I wasn’t insulting her…” She smirked at Mia. “I was only describing her which is not a problem, right honey?” She asked her husband.

“You are always right, darling.” Raymond said, ki-ssing his wife on her cheek.

Mia wasn’t surprise about all this…in fact she had expected it to happen right from the moment she decided to come out of the room but….

James still disappointed her, like always.

“I am not here to win anybody’s heart back and even if i really was here to do that, your son would never be part of the list.” She stated, without sparing James a look.

James was hurt from her words but she didn’t seem to care about that again.

Have she really fallen out of love with him? Does she not care about him anymore or better still, care about the relationship they once had?

Because in all honesty, he was still in love with Mia, the mother of the child but what about her?

Have her love for him faded into the thin air the day she left New York?

Was he now a memory of her past in her life now? James wondered, not taking his eyes off Mia’s form.

“What?” Elena wasn’t expecting that reply from her.

“Your son is nothing to me anymore. He’s just the father of my child and that’s the only connection between us…aside from Gwen there’s nothing I feel towards him. Absolutely nothing.” She spoke.

“But…but you loved him.” Elena slowly pointed out, looking surprise.

Mia nod her head. “Exactly. I loved him but not anymore.” She sighed. “So you don’t have to worry about anything, okay?” She stepped away from the door. “You can go see your granddaughter, I can’t deny you of that right.” Elena slowly walked towards the door when Mia spoke again, stopping Elena right on her track, beside Mia. “That’s your right but always bear this in mind, I have more right over my child than you do…after all, she’s my daughter and you are just her grandmother who she hasn’t even gotten so use to. I can decide who comes into her life and who doesn’t. Simply because i am giving you the opportunity right now doesn’t make me stupid but I’m only doing this right now because this might be your only chance.”

“What?”

“I’m taking my daughter back home with me as soon as she wakes up.”

•FLASHBACK•

“Who was that guy we saw you talking with?” Mia friends asked as they walked out of the club.

Mia stuffed her hands into her pan-ts pocket, shrugging off her shoulders. “Just a random guy.”

“Just?” Kelly repeated, scoffing. “That guy doesn’t look like ‘just a random guy’ to me.” She air quoted the word, smiling. “Fuc-k, he’s cute. Please tell me you collected his number.”

“Unfortunately yes.” Mia rolled her eyes.

She have to apologize to him for making a fool out of herself earlier ago.

Damn, she can’t believe she embarra-ssed herself like that all because of a Fuc-king martini shot.

He asked her to take him for lunch tomorrow as a form of apology. She was going to refuse but hey, her mother didn’t trained her to be rude to others. So she had no other choice than to accept it.

He gave her his number and collected hers, in case she doesn’t stick to the deal and try to run away _although she thought of doing just that but it seems stupid and that’s exactly what a weakling would do_ She refuse to be regarded as one.

Besides, one lunch won’t hurt her in anyway, right?

So what’s the big deal in it? Nothing, right?

Right!

“Wait, you did? Oh my God, have the almighty tomboy gotten her heart swayed?” Yvonne winked, grinning.

“What? Of course not!” Mia said, making up a face. “Love su-ckand it’s definitely not in my dictionary.”

“It’s funny how your parents love are so beautiful and sweet and yet their daughter doesn’t believe in it.” Kelly stated.

Kia shrugged. “Everyone have their different perspective of life, darlings.”

The two girls started laughing, shaking their heads while Mia bit her lower li-p just as she discovered her mistake.

“You apparently just talked to yourself right now, sweetheart.” Yvonne said, laughing.

“She seem to have forgotten her surname.” Kelly added, laughing as well.

“Just shut the Fuc-k up!” She retorted, frowning at her two friends.

“You came.” He said, sitting down across from her.

“You are late.” She said drily, glaring at him.

He laughed. “I got caught up in traffic.” He studied her face. “You are glaring.”

“No, I’m not.” She denied, still glaring.

“Yes you are.” He said.

“I’m not. This is just how my face is.” She replied, grabbing the menu from the table and tossing it at him. “Pick whatever you want. Hurry.”

“I don’t think this is the best way to apologize to someone, darling.” He stated, chuckling.

She tilted her head to the child, giving him a blank stare due to the fact that he just addressed her with her surname.

“What is it? Is there something in my face?” He asked her.

she nod her head. “Actually yes.” Suddenly she hit him on his face. “You can thank me later.”

“Ouch. What was that for?” He whined, rubbing his palm on his face.

“There was something in your face.” She said innocently.

“What!” He barked at her.

She smirked. “Stupidity.”

“What?” He co-cked an eyebrow at her.

“Just pick a food from the menu, okay? I have other important things to do instead of sitting down here with you.” She rolled her eyes.

He decided to drop the slap matter down and went throu-ghthe menu.

He looked back up at Mia, who was busy glaring at him.

What is it with her and glares?

“Are you sure you can afford the food here?” He asked her calmly.

“And what is that suppose to mean?” She questioned angrily, furrowing her brows at him.

“Well, the food seem very expensive you know.”

She clic-ked her tongue, grabbing another menu from the table. “How expensive can it be.” She went throu-ghit, her eyes wide-ned in complete shock. “Fuc-k!”

“You can’t, right?”

She dropped the menu on the table and stood up to her feet. “It’s not like I can’t afford it but I think it will be a waste of time and money eating a food as expensive as this when we can get something that taste better than it out there at a cheaper rate.” She said, pretending to be capable.

“And where is this place located at?”

For the first time since he has met her, she smiled at him. “Follow me.”

?Brenden’s pov?

“What’s wrong with your father? You said you don’t want to continue his line of business, can’t he just get the memo?” Arthur questioned angrily as if he could see Eric around.

I sighed, rubbing the nape of my neck. “Apparently I’m his only heir.”

“Fuc-k that shit!” Arthur said in annoyance. “Is it the same heir he treat like trash? Or the same heir he hates with so much pa-ssion? Or the heir he regards as a dumba-ss? Tell me, which of it?”

I stayed quiet, not knowing what to say.

“Are you going?” Davis now asked.

I hesitantly nodded my head, letting off a de-ep sigh.

“What? Why!?” Arthur questioned, staring at me with his eyes wide open.

“I have no choice, guys.” I reasoned out.

“Of course you do. It’s your life we are talking about here for Christ sake!” Davis added.

“I know. But I’m not just doing this for myself but I’m doing it for Lexi and mom.”

“You aren’t doing this for yourself at all,” Arthur corrected. “Come to think of it, do they know about this?”

I quietly shook my head no.

“You know they wouldn’t want you to do this, right?” Arthur stated, raising a questioning brow at me.

I sighed. “That’s why I couldn’t bring myself to tell them about it just yet.”

A week from now and I would be leaving to Europe with my father for a business trip.

I really don’t want to go but I have no other alternative.

If I refuse to go, it will only just cause problem in the house and I don’t want any of that to happen because of me.

Lexi was going throu-gha lot because of Gwen’s condition, I don’t want to add to the problem. And mom, she was always fighting with her husband and it was all my fault.

Fuc-k, speaking about Gwen…her condition was all my fault and here I was talking about leaving town,,, Honestly, no matter what anyone says, I still blame myself for everything.

I sighed again, stuffing my hands into my pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

“You know you will get into trouble if you are caught.” Davis reminded me.

“I don’t care.” I said in sincerity, taking out a stick of cigarette and lighted it up. I took a long drag of it and puffed it into the air. “This is exactly what I need right now…” I mumbled taking another drag into my lungs and puffing it out again. I continued with the routine over and over again.

“Do you know what I think you need right now?” Davis asked. I gave him the what_is_it look. “A good se-x. It’s been a while you had one with a se-xy girl.” He winked.

“I second the motion. At least have se-x with some few girls before leaving town.” Arthur said in agreement.

“Hey, I’m not leaving forever.” I reasoned out.

Arthur collected the cigarette from me and took a long drag of it pa-ssing it down to Davis.

“But while you are gone, you won’t be able to have se-x and that’s because you will be under your father’s nose all the time.”

Ah, he has a point there actually.

Dad won’t let me off his sight and yeah, I know for a fact that we would surely get into a fight over there so I won’t be surprise when we start arguing unnecessarily.

I liked the idea of having se-x before leaving but then again, I needed to see Gwen… I need to stick by her side for the time being until I leave for Europe.

At least if taking care of her could reduce the guilt in my chest then I don’t see why I shouldn’t take care of her.

I can’t believe I was thinking about a Fuc-king girl…this was all new to me.

“I can’t_” I took a long drag from the cigarette and pa-ssed it down to Arthur, we were just going in circles like that.

“Why not?” They both asked in sync.

“Gwen…have you forgotten she needs us right now?”

“Ohh…” They both gasped, nodding their heads as if they had actually forgotten before. “We didn’t forget that, man.”

“But wait, am I the only one who noticed something different about Brenden?” Davis questioned.

“What do mean?” I asked, knitting my brows.

“You remember her name, Brenden. You don’t just remember people’s name like that unless you care about them…” Davis stated, earning a gasp from Arthur.

“You are definitely right, Davis.” They all turned their attention on me. “Brenden, do you care about Gwendolyn?”

“No Arthur that shouldn’t be the question,” Davis cleared his throat, staring de-eply into my eyes. “Do you have any kind of feelings for Gwendolyn?”
