❣️Episode 31❣️

?Narrator’s pov?

“Listen to me Mia…” James began but she cuts him off, raising a palm in front of his face.

“I don’t need to listen to anything that comes out of your mouth, James.” She said angrily. “My daughter have stayed with me for over Eighteen years of her life but she has never been rushed to the hospital…and now she has just stayed with you for like what, two weeks? And take a look at her now.” She was burning in complete rage and anger.

“I…” James could not even let a damn word out. She was right after all.

Gwen have lived her life in Boston and nothing like this have ever happened but now that she has lived in New York for just two weeks…she was already fighting for her life.

He wasn’t qualified enough to have her stay close to him.

He wasn’t qualified enough to take good care of her…he can never train her more than Mia already has.

He wasn’t even qualified to be called a father.

He su-ckat that title,,, big time!

Mia narrowed her eyes at him, clenching her fist. “You can’t even take good care of your own daughter.” She scoffed. “What was I even expecting? A man who can’t fight for his lover and child, how then can he look after his child?”

James shook his head sadly. “I tried my best, Mia. I know I should have been more careful with her but…”

“You tried your best?” She repeated in disgust. “Then your best was not enough! There is no guarantee that my child will survive this shit and you are here telling me about ‘your best’” She air quote the word using her fingers. “You disgust me right now, James. If only you didn’t get involved into our lives. If only I didn’t foolishly give you a chance. If only I refused to accept that stupid motorbike from you!” Her nose were flaring in anger, her eyes were glossy due to the unshed tears. “My daughter won’t be in this Fuc-king position…I might not regret having you in my life because I got something bigger in return which is Gwen but do you know what I do regret? Loving a man as weak as you.” She spat angrily, walking away as she went back inside her daughter’s ward.

James could not say a thing…, He deserve every insult from her, he deserves everything she threw at his way…he has done something worse than that to her.

•FLASHBACK•

“THIS IS SO AMAZING!”

“I KNOW RIGHT! I CAN DANCE LIKE THIS ALL DAY.”

Mia scrunched up her face at her friends and shook her head looking away from them as she approached the bar.

She sat down on a stool and ordered for a martini shot, scrolling throu-ghher phone.

Minutes later, the shot of martini was handed towards her.

She collects it and dropped it on the table in front of her, not taking her eyes off her phone.

She hates coming to the club but because of “her so called friends” she has no other choice.

They always have a way of dragging her down here and damn, she don’t have the ability to turn them down and that’s because she loves them so much!

Yeah, it’s all Fuc-ked up.

And now, here she was drowning in the boredom with just a martini shot and her phone _what a tragedy_

Honestly, places like this weren’t fun to her at all. To her, it was one of the boring places in the whole universe. Which have nothing to offer but alcohol, perverts, and smelly bodies _Where the hell is the fun in that shit?_

But places like the; game arenas, mountains, oceans and so many interesting places are what triggers her and make her happy.

~Her friends were just too dumb to realize that, actually~

She grabbed the shot and chug-ged the whole content down her throat and ordered for another shot, not still taking her eyes off her phone.

Soon later the martini shot was delivered to her.

Just as she was going to grab it, someone else beat her to it and chug-ged down the content, dropping the empty glas-sdown in the front of her.

Mia snapped her head to the direction of the motherfu-cker, glaring.

Damn, he was so cute, well built, tall and beautifully made by God. He was the definition of a greek god. Damn him for looking this good and yet so mannerless.

Yes, she was taking back by God’s creation and perfection on this man but nothing changes the fact that the man just drunk her shot without asking for permission.

Like seriously who the hell does that? Apparently, it was the idiot seated beside her, looking like god.

Fuc-k that thought!

Mia was a ‘no nonsense young lady,’ she hates being disrespected by anyone or being looked down upon.

Her mother knows her for those characteristics…touch Mia stuff and get ready to pay dearly for it. It was one of her rules.

The idiot was smiling at her now, acting like he didn’t just do anything wrong right now.

“Hey beautiful…need something?”

Mia scoffed, clic-king her tongue in annoyance. “Are you crazy? Because clearly it looks like you just escaped from the psychiatric home.”

The smile on the man’s face faded and turned into a frown. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me well…how dare drink a shot that doesn’t Fuc-king belongs to you, huh?” She snapped, clenching her fist in attempt to with hold her anger.

Obviously she can’t throw a punch at him or else she will be dragged out of the club…oh wait, that will be a very good idea. It will be a win-win for her.

This place su-ckafter all and she will take the plea-sure in teaching this idiotic bastard a lesson.

But in as much as she wants to leave this god forsaken pit-hole, she doesn’t want to ruin her friends’ fun.

He furrowed his brows in confusion, staring down at the empty shot in front of the both of them. “What are you talking about?”

What? Was he trying to play dumb now? Like seriously?

“Are you Fuc-king kidding me right now?” She grabbed the empty shot from the table and waved it in front of him. “This is an evidence, idiot!”

“That shot bel…” He was going to say but she quickly cut him off.

“You know what, Fuc-k it and Fuc-k you, you annoying piece of shit. I would have given you a black eyes if not for one thing…just be warned and make sure never to come…”

“Here is your shot.” The bartender arrived and handed Mia her shot of martini.

“What?” Mia asked in surprise, looking in between the shot the bartender just handed to her and the empty one she was fighting about. “Isn’t this shot mine?” She pointed at the empty gla-ss.

“No. That’s for him. It’s a shot of vodka but you asked for martini. Wait, is there any problem?”

“No, Samuel. Just refill my glas-sagain…thanks.” The man said to the bartender in a very polite manner, smiling.

The bartender collected the glas-sand walked away, leaving just the two of them.

Mia scratched the nape of her neck, grabbing the shot of martini and chug-ged the whole content.

“Um, shouldn’t you apologize now?” He raised a questioning brow at her.

She turned to glare at him. “Apologize?” She scoffed. “You should have told me the shot wasn’t mine and besides why the hell did you drop it in front of me, huh?”

Here she was criticizing him to be mannerless when in reality, she was the mannerless one but hey, there’s no way she was going to admit her mistakes.

“Is that your way of saying sorry, young…lady?” He asked calmly.

Mia rolled her eyes. “Fuc-k that word, okay?” She stood up to leave but he quickly stopped her by grabbing her arm. “What do you want?”

“You owe me an apology, girl.” Those were his next words to her as he held her close to himself.

“Here,” Cleo handed her a bottle of water, sitting down beside Mia.

Mia gave her a small smile, collecting the bottle from her. “Thanks.”

“It’s nothing, ma’am.” Cleo replied, smiling.

Mia quickly shook her head. “Don’t refer me as that. Just call me Mia, okay?”

“Okay ma… I mean, Mia.”

Mia uncapped the bottle and took a sip from it then let out a de-ep breath, gazing over at her daughter unconscious form.

She slowly reach out to pale Gwen’s hand and held it in between hers, struggling not to let the tears off.

She was not the emotional type but right now she could feel herself getting so emotional over her child’s current predicament….her child’s misfortune.

Why does life have to be this cruel, huh?

*Is this what you really want, mom?* Her daughter’s words rung in her head over and over again.

Mia couldn’t even breath very well and she can’t seem to take her eyes off her child.

She only wanted what’s best for her baby. She never wanted this for her child…Never.

Fuc-k, how can life be this cruel to someone as amazing as Gwendolyn, huh?

Why didn’t this happen to her instead? why did it have to happen to her poor little baby?

Mia didn’t know when or how she started crying but all she knew was, Cleo was consoling her from besides, saying soothing words to her in attempt to sympathize with her…damn, the words weren’t even helping at all!

All she wants right now was her daughter’s survival and nothing else.

?Alexis’s pov?

?Any good news??

I let out a de-ep sigh, leaning my head against the headrest.

?I wish there was one?

Both Kathy and Pearl let out a frustrated sigh as well. Their loud breathing filled the empty line, making it difficult for me to even think straight.

?How are you feeling now, Lexi?? Kathy questioned after a moment of silence.

I didn’t say anything for a while. My gaze lingered on the empty space, with no thought at all in mind.

?I will be fine?

I don’t know how I was feeling right now but I hope I will be fine and the only way I can be is if Gwen wakes up.

Yes, apparently I wasn’t feeling so good.

Even Rowan noticed it throu-ghmy voice.

He had called to check up on me and to ask about Gwen’s current situation.

I told him everything without omitting anything. He was also heartbroken for Gwen’s sake.

Like seriously, who wouldn’t be pained to see her in that kind of condition?

When her mother walked throu-ghthat door to see her child,,,I could see the bitterness in the poor woman’s eyes.

I could see the pain, the fear of losing her only child.

I can’t relate because I obviously do not have a child but I can relate of losing someone very important to you…Gwen wasn’t only important to her parents, she was also important to us… especially to me.

?Lexi, you know you have us in anything, right? You don’t have to…?Pearl began but I was quick to cut her off.

?You guys shouldn’t be worried about me, okay? I will be fine?

?Are you still at the hospital?? Kathy asked.

?No. I’m home now. Gwen’s mother persuaded me to go home with my brother but Cleo was still at the hospital when I left,? I sighed. ?Do you think I should go back to the hospital, besides I’ve rested enough?

?Lexi…?They both called out in sympathy.

?I really want to be there with Gwen when she wakes up, girls.? I said in a very low voice, sniffling.

?We know. Although i didn’t know how you got this close to her but one thing I do know for sure is that you really care about Gwen. And trust me, everything will be fine. She will be fine again?

?Brenden’s pov?

We both strolled inside the office room, slamming the door shut behind us.

What exactly does he want to talk to me about?

Was this another scheme of his to fight with me again like usual?

Should I be worried right now?

Dad stood in front of the window, staring out of it, while his back was facing me and his hands were stuffed inside his pocket.

We stayed like that for over thirty minutes, neither of us let a single word out. And trust me, I don’t intend of saying anything unless he was ready to start talking.

As if he heard my thoughts, he turned around to look at me now.

“I didn’t call you here for any trouble, Brenden.” I just nodded my head, expecting him to go on with his explanation. “I only sent for you because I have an announcement to make.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked quietly.

“Listen, I only what the best for you. I want to make you useful to yourself and those around you and that’s why I’m doing everything I can to make that possible,” He sighed. “You are coming with me for a business trip, Brenden. As much as I hate you, I still want a heir to my business.”
