❣️Episode 28❣️

?Brenden’s pov?

“What are you apologizing for, doctor?” Gwen father asked him, furrowing his brows in total confusion.

The doctor let out a de-ep sigh. “I have good news and bad news for you, sir…which will you like to hear first?”

“Is that necessary? Just tell me what the Fuc-k is going on with my daughter!”

I was also curious and worried.

I hope it was nothing serious.

I hope she’s fine.

“Fine,” The doctor paused. “She has brain hemorrhage but the good news here is that the surgery was successful,” Surgery? I didn’t know it was that serious. “But I’m sorry, she fell into a de-ep coma and it will take a miracle for her to wake up from it.”

“Brain hemorrhage…surgery…Miracle…I don’t get. Are we talking about my daughter or someone else?” Gwen father questioned.

“We are talking about your daughter, sir. Was she involve in any kind of accident?” He asked.

Mr James, Gwen father shook his head. “None that I’m aware of.”

Wait, accident?

Her situation can’t have anything to do with the crash I caused last night, right?

I mean, it was just a small crash and shouldn’t cause any damage so….

“None that you are aware of…?”

“Sir…,” I cut in, facing Mr James.

“What?” He answered, turning to look at me.

I cleared my throat. “I think I know about the accident.”

“What are you talking about?” He questioned, raising a questioning brow at me.

“I had mistakenly bumped into her last night with my car, she was on her bike…”

He stopped me, raising her palm up to my face. “What are you saying, Brenden?”

I hesitate before saying. “She had a crash last night with her bike.”

“Wait, what? Wasn’t she on helmet?” He asked.

Now that I think about it, she definitely wasn’t on helmet, dammit!

This was all my fault.

I should have been more careful.

I shouldn’t have Fuc-king bumped into her…Fuc-k, this was all my damn fault.

I brou-ght this upon her.

I don’t think I will be able to forgive myself if Gwen doesn’t wake up.

I will blame myself till eternity.

“No.” I responded, lowering my gaze to the floor.

“Now that explains the whole situation. She had internal injury and that’s very dangerous. At least we should be glad that the surgery was successful.” He shrugged.

“Glad?” Mr James scoffed. “My daughter is lying down there, unconscious, hoping for a miracle to take place and you are here telling me to be glad, are you kidding me right now?”

“I’m sorry but hey, there’s a probability that she might wake up.”

“And there’s also a probability that she might not! God, I’m so stupid. This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten that bike for her in the first place…I should have listened to her mother. What do I even say to Mia? How will she take this news?” Mr James voiced out his thoughts, looking very worried and scared.

If he’s blaming himself then what should I do?

Hate myself?

To be honest, I was already hating myself…

“Everything will be fine.” The doctor encourages before walking away.

Will everything ever be fine?

Fuc-k, this was crazy.

Suddenly, Mr James phone started ringing. He quietly dug it out of his pocket and answered the call.

“Cl…Cleo.” He called out.

“Sir, what’s going on?” A girly voice asked from the other line, sounding very worried.

“Gwen… she’s… she’s in coma.”

?Alexis’s pov?

“Fainted? But why? What happened to her?” Kathy now asked, dropping her mint chocolate away from her.

“No one knows about the cause but we do hope it’s nothing serious and that she will be fine.” Arthur said with a shrug.

“Maybe it’s stressed.” Davis suggested.

Fuc-k, I hope it was really stress and nothing serious.

But Gwen doesn’t look like the type who will just faint because of stress.

Yes, she was that strong!

Honestly, I was worried about her….I just hope everything is fine with her.

Just then, Cleo walked inside the cafeteria, she looked around as if in search of someone when her gaze suddenly rested on me.

She started approaching me with a sad look on her face, there were even stains of tears on her cheeks.

She finally got to us. “Lexi,” She called my name softly.

“Cleo, what’s wrong? Have you been crying?” I asked her as i stood up to my feet.

“Is it because of Gwen? I’m sure she’s fine.” Kathy said to her.

Cleo shook her head, sobbing quietly. “She… she’s not fine.”

“What?”

“Gwen isn’t fine, guys…” She repeated the words over again.

My heart stopped beating as those words left her li-ps. “Wha…what are you saying?”

“Gwen… she’s in coma.”

She dropped the bombshell. It felt like time have stopped…Everyone at our table were in complete shock as we all processed the words in our head.

I couldn’t believe my ears…No, I refused to believe this lies.

Gwen can’t be in coma, never.

No…no…no…

“It can’t be…” Those were the only words that left my li-ps.

?Narrator’s pov?

She wasn’t comfortable.

Something felt so wrong and she was sure of it.

She couldn’t even sleep well at night because of how worried and afraid she was about her feelings or better still, instinct.

They were just her instinct, she shouldn’t get so worked up about it but still!

Could something be wrong with her daughter?? Mia wondered as she kept staring at Gwendolyn’s photo album.

She looked so happy in that photo, Mia could still remember that day like it was yesterday.

Honestly, she miss her daughter so much,,, her laughter, her voice, her trouble, her smile, her fight…she missed every goddamn thing about her beautiful daughter.

But what’s stopping her from taking her back? what’s stopping her from bringing her back to Boston, her own home?

She doesn’t even have a reasonable answer to that very question.

Mia grabbed her phone from the table and scrolled throu-ghher contact list, stopping at a particular number with the name; *My Precious♥️*

She was tempted to clic-k on it. She was tempted to hear her daughter’s voice even if it’s just for a second.

Besides, she also wanted to know how she’s doing,,, she wants to know if her instinct were just wrong and that there’s absolutely nothing wrong.

She hesitate for a while before clic-king on the number, it rung for a while then went to voicemail. “This is Gwen, stop calling if I don’t pick and just leave a Fuc-king voicemail.”

Mia tried the number over and over again but it kept going to voicemail, making the young woman very worried.

She started pacing around the room, praying silently for her daughter’s well being.

She decided to call James after trying Gwen’s number for about fifteen times with no reply.

James number rung for three times before it was answered by him.

“Mia,” His husky voice cut throu-ghthe line, Mia heart began beating very fast and loud. She was afraid James wound be able to hear it because of how loud it was.

“James, what’s going on?” She asked calmly, clenching her fist in attempt to calm her nerves down.

Who knows, maybe nothing was wrong. Maybe James was only just tired and that’s why he was sounding this way. Maybe nothing is really wrong with her baby…maybe.

James hesitate for a long while, causing the atmosphere to be tense for Mia. “Mia… I’m sorry…” His voice trailed away as he began sobbing.

Mia took in de-ep few breaths, rea-ssuring herself that everything was okay. “Why are you apologizing? What’s going on, James? Talk to me!”

“Our…dau… daughter… she’s… she’s…”

“James, what happened to my daughter? Where is Gwendolyn!?” She asked at the top of her voice, clutching her phone against her ear very tight.

“I’m sorry…I wasn’t able to take very good care of her… I’m so sorry.” He kept on apologizing, making Mia very pissed at the whole situation.

Apologizing won’t solve anything, it won’t calm her troubled heart but rather make things worse.

All she needed right now were answers, more like explanation concerning her daughter’s well being.

She was worried sick.

“STOP APOLOGIZING AND TELL ME WHAT’S WRONG!?” She yelled, angrily.

God, if anything happens to Gwen, she will never forgive herself.

She just hope everything is fine and there’s no need for her to be worried.

“Gwen is in coma as we speak, Mia.” James stammered.

That did it.

Mia plopped down on the ground, completely speechless.

Her fear….her nightmares…her worries… they’ve consumed her, leaving her in complete misery and darkness.

*Mom, is this what you really want?* Gwen’s last words to her echoed in her head making it very difficult for Mia to even breathe.

*Fine…if that’s what you want!*

She only wanted what’s best for her child. She only wanted her to be happy and the only thing she could think of was sending Gwen over to New York so she could make new friends and be around her father’s families, was that too much?

Will she never be able to see her daughter again?

What if she doesn’t wake up from the coma?

No, no, that can’t be. She can’t lose her daughter like this.

“Mia, are you okay?” James asked, worriedly.

Mia stayed quiet as she tried processing everything in her head.

“Mia?” James called out again.

She cleared her throat, coming up to her feet. “Send me the address of the hospital… I’m coming over to New York to get my daughter back.”
