❣️Episode 27❣️

?Brenden’s pov?

“Where is my daughter?” An elderly man asked at the top of his voice as he walked inside the hospital, going straight to the nurse behind the desk.

“Please who are you, sir?” The nurse politely asked him.

“That isn’t necessary right now…where is my child?” He asked again, refusing to give answers to who he was.

“Sir, please calm down. I don’t know who you are talking about. What’s your daughter name?” She asked.

“Gwendolyn. She was brou-ght in here few minutes ago.” He replied, worriedly.

Wait, Gwendolyn?

Was it the same Gwendolyn I know?

I haven’t met her father or any of her family members,,, well, she hasn’t met mine either. It’s not like we are that close or anything.

But looking at him now, I can actually see the resemblance between the both of them…Gray eyes, well-shaped nose, and she seem to have taken her father’s height as well.

But they had different color of hair…he had black while hers were golden brown? Okay, I su-ckat naming colors, don’t judge.

“Gwendolyn Darlings?” The nurse questioned, going throu-ghthe chart in front of her on the desk.

“Yes. That’s her.” He nodded, impatiently. “Tell me, where is she?”

“Calm down, sir. She…”

“How can you tell me to calm down!” He snapped out, angrily. “My daughter is in the hospital only God knows what’s going on right now with her and you are here asking me to calm down…Fuc-k that!”

He really cares for her.

He really loves her.

He should be the one here and not me but due to the fact that i was the one with her when she fainted, I had to come along with them to give them some explanation on what actually happened.

To be honest, i don’t know. All I do know was the fact that she looked very pale and sick. She was in pain but was acting to be fine. I noticed how she was struggling to stand on her both feet.

Why didn’t she just tell someone about what she was going throu-gh?

Why did she have to be pretend?

I know she wants to be tough, she looked like a girl who hardly shows out her weakness…a girl who loves being in control, a dominant kind of girl.

But I don’t think acting tough all the time is the best thing to ever do, sometimes you just need to rely on someone.

As soon as she loss consciousness, I had to text my two best friends, telling them about the situation at hand.

They left clas-sand came to meet us at the hall, they suggested we tell the principal which we did. The principal called the ambulance and now,,, here we are.

No student knows about this aside from Arthur, Davis and I…the principal a-ssured that no other students heard about it, so they won’t be false rumors around the school _it was a good idea, actually_

I blame myself for this. If I didn’t so what I did in cla-ss, maybe we wouldn’t have been sent out of clas-sin the first place and she,,, she wouldn’t be in this situation by now.

Fuc-k, why do I also seem to hurt people like this? Why was my life this unfortunate?

*GWENDOLYN!* Tsk, funny how I remembered her beautiful name. Funny how I love to call her name…jeez, that sound so cheesy. Scrap that word.

“I’m sorry, sir. You just have to clam down, the doctor will be with you shortly.” She stated, she look very frightened under his cold stare.

I contemplated whether or not I should save the poor nurse… I decided to save her and besides, the man have every right to know what’s going on with his daughter. He’s her father after all.

I quietly approached Gwen’s father. “Hi.”

He turned to look at me. “What do you want?”

“I’m Brenden. I’m here with your daughter.” I replied. “Um, I’m the student who was with her when she fainted.”

“Oh.” He backed away from the nurse and turned his full attention on me. “What happened to her? Did she complain about anything?” He asked me.

We are not close enough for her to tell me anything. If there’s anyone to know anything about her then it should be that girlfrie…I mean, friend of hers whose name I don’t even know.

I shook my head. “She didn’t. But I could tell that she was in pain when I asked, she refused to say anything.”

“God,” He gro-aned, running his fingers throu-ghhis hair, dishevelling it in the process. “Why does it feel like this is my fault? I should have notice this in the first place.”

“You don’t have to beat yourself to it, sir. Nonke would have noticed…your daughter is very good at pretending to be okay.”

He sighed. “I know. she’s just like her mother.” He paused. “Have he doctor said anything?”

“Not yet.”

He sat down on the bench at the awaiting room, but I didn’t. I still remained standing.

He tapped at the empty spot beside him. “You should seat.”

“No. I’m fine.” I protested.

“I know you are worried about her, so am I…but standing like this won’t change anything so seat while we wait for the doctor.”

Wait, worried?

Why should I be worried about her?

Whether she lives or dies have absolutely nothing to do with me!

I am only here because I was forced to come with her and not because I care.

*I only remember the names of the people I care.* I remember saying those words to Alexis.

*And now you care about remembering her name?* She had asked me but I couldn’t figure out an answer to that very question.

*GWENDOLYN!* I remembered her name. I Fuc-king remember her name.

What the hell is going on with me?

Why did I remember her damn name? Do I really care about her? Was I really worried about her?

~If you weren’t asked to come along with her, would you have still followed them willing?~ My subconsciousness questioned.

Would I?

Maybe ~And that will be because I am the one to be blamed of the whole situation.

That sound like an excuse, right?

“Brenden?” Her father called out, bringing me back to the land of the living. “Are you okay?”

“I…uh…yeah.” I nodded, sitting down beside him. My head were still moving in circles, my thoughts were still in a complete mess.

I hate being this way, especially when it involves girls!!!

“So, are you friends with my daughter?” He asked me after a while of silence.

“No.” I answered immediately.

“Oh. Then are you a foe?” He asked again.

“No.”

“You are neither a friend nor a foe…I don’t think I should be worried then.”

“Why not?”

He shrugged. “You might turn out to be her friend in the future…who knows, maybe you are already her friend.”

I clic-ked my tongue, shaking my head. There’s no bloody way that I will become friends with that girl.

She almost knocked off my nose for pete sake! How can I be friends with that kind of a person?

“What if I turn out to be a foe?” I questioned, raising a questioning brow at him.

He chuckles softly, shaking his head at me. “I doubt that. You care too much to be a foe, Brenden.”

What?

“Tell me, where were you guys when she fainted?” He asked, changing the topic which I was quite grateful for.

“At the gym hall…”

“Gym hall? Were you guys doing sports?” He asked.

“No.”

He knitted his brows in complete confusion. “Then what were you guys doing in the gym hall?”

“We were cleaning.” I replied nonchalantly.

His eyes shot wide at that. “What!? Cleaning?”

“Yeah. But that’s on us…we got into trouble and was sent out of clas-swhich resulted to cleaning the hall as a punishment.” I explained, leaving the side out of the fact that I was the one who looked for his precious daughter trouble which caused us to be punished.

He doesn’t need to know that part, right? Right!

He let out a de-ep breath, leaning his head against the wall behind us. “What did she do this time around? Hit you?”

“What?” I was obviously confused right now.

“She must have hit you in clas-sand when you tried defending yourself, you guys were sent out of cla-ss, right?”

*Take your hands, you are disturbing me.*

*Manage the space you see and stop distracting me.* The scene replayed in my head over and over again…nah, it was completely my fault.

But what harm would it cause to act like the victim? After all she wasn’t here to defend herself.

“Something like that.” I gave out an airily laugh, scratching the nape of my neck.

If only he knew what truly happened, I would have been on the hospital bed right now.

“She is always like that…but de-ep down, she is a girl with a golden heart. But come to think of it, what did you do that made her hit you?”

“I…uh…do i need to do anything to make hit me?” I questioned, sounding very stupid right now.

“Gwen doesn’t hit people for no just reason. You must have done something…”

I laughed nervously. “Maybe.” I said under my breath, avoiding his gaze.

“Maybe?” I repeated.

Okay, enough with the lies, Brenden.

“Honestly, I was the one at fault. Not her. I deserve every punch from her but, I received none from her.” I stated.

He stayed quiet for a while. “My princess must have left you on purpose or she was probably too weak to hit you.” He said, sadly.

Maybe.

God,

He was looking very sad and unhappy now so I decided to lift up the mood. “Princess, huh? She must really hate that name.”

He smiled. “She really does. But hey, what can she do? The name suit her perfectly.”

I nodded, smiling as well. “It does.”

“I just hope she’s alright.” He said in a whisper, gazing up to the ceilings.

“I hope so too.” Just then, the doctor walked out of the emergency ward, coming towards us.

Gwen father and I abruptly stood up to our feet. “What’s going on? Is she okay now?” He asked.

“Are you her father?” The doctor asked calmly.

“Yes. Now tell me what’s going on?” He ordered this time around.

The doctor’s face suddenly turned to a sad one as he shook his head. “I’m sorry…”

Why does it feel like whatever he was going to say will be a bad news?

?Alexis’s pov?

“This is so delicious!” Kathy said, taking a bit from her mint chocolate ice cream.

Pearl and I make a face of disgust. “You are so disgusting.”

“Excuse me? How is taking mint chocolate disgusting? Try it, you both are going to fall in love with it.” She winked.

“We did. And we know exactly what it taste like.” Pearl said, scrunching up her face.

“It taste like iced toothpaste.” I cringed.

“It’s not that bad.” Kathy said, taking another spoonful of mint chocolate ice cream.

This girl will surely be the death of me, honestly.

Few minutes later, Arthur and Davis approached us, sitting down on the empty spot, without our consent.

“What are you guys doing here?” Kathy asked, frowning at them.

“We want to eat, is that bad?” Davis asked, taking a spoon from Kathy’s mint chocolate. “Hmm, yummy!”

“Wait, you like mint chocolate?” She asked.

“Who doesn’t?” He replied.

“We don’t!” Pearl, Arthur and I said in unison.

“It’s your loss…mint chocolate ice cream is the best.” Davis said, taking another spoon of ice cream from Kathy’s cup.

“I don’t actually blame you…after all, you love lic-king toothpaste like that.” Arthur said, earning a laughter from all of us aside from Davis who was fake glaring at him.

“You are mad.”

I looked around, in search of my brother but he was no where to be found and how come is he not with his two best friends?

“Looking for Brenden?” Arthur asked me.

“Oh, yeah. Where is he?” Pearl asked, looking around as well.

“He’s not in school right now.” He said.

“Did he sneak out of school?” Kathy questioned.

“How can he sneak out without us?” Davis shrugged. That’s a very good question. There’s no way Brenden would have sneaked out of school without his partners in crime.

“So where is he?” I asked.

“In the hospital.” They both answered.

“WHAT?” I literally yelled at the top of my voice, earning a glare from everyone at the cafeteria but guess what, I don’t Fuc-king care! “Did something happen to him? And why am I just hearing about it now?”

“Calm down, it’s not him that’s in the hospital but someone else. He was tagged along because he was there when the person fainted.” Arthur explained clearer now.

I let out a de-ep breath of relief. “Thank goodness he’s fine.”

“But who was it that fainted?” Kathy asked now.

“The new girl… Gwendolyn.”

WHAT!?

?Cleo’s pov?

I was in search of her, as much as I was upset with her, I still want to apologize to her for saying those mean words that other day in school.

It was my fault in the first place for being so stupid and telling her that I don’t trust her.

Those word must have really hurt her and maybe that’s why she was mad at me like this.

I walked inside the science cla-ssroom but she was nowhere to be found.

I tried calling her number but it was going to voicemail. I tried again, hoping she would answer this time around, “This is Gwen, stop calling if I don’t pick and just leave a Fuc-king voice…” I hung up.

Why wasn’t she picking my call? Has it gotten to this point now? Was she this mad at me?

I decided to let go and walked away from the cla-ssroom.

I went inside the bathroom and walked into one of the cubicle to ease myself when I suddenly started hearing voices from outside.

“Did Brenden hit her or Something?” A girl voice filled the bathroom.

“Maybe. It could be his own form of revenge or something.” Another girl said.

Gossip…they will never stop. Who knows, maybe this was all a rumor and nothing like this is actually happening.

“But the new girl doesn’t seem like one who would stand still and watch someone punch her in the face.”

New girl…?

Is there a new girl I haven’t heard about or what?

“I know right! Unless she was sick before coming to school. Maybe Brenden didn’t actually hit her.”

“Gwendolyn should have…” I burst the cubicle door open, disrupting the girls chitchats, as soon as I heard that name.

“What’s going on?”

*****

No, no, no, no. It can’t be. Gwendolyn can’t be in the hospital, right?

Maybe she only pretended to faint so she could get out of school…

Fuc-k, I tried calling her number over and over again but it kept going to her voicemail, making me more worried.

I dialled Mr James number this time around, it rung for a while before it was answered.

“Mr James,” I called out.

“Cl…Cleo?” He breaths out. He sounded like one who have been crying.

Have he heard the news? Was he already in the hospital? Have something bad happened? I can’t stop myself from asking this questions.

“What’s going on, sir?”

“It’s Gwen… she’s… she’s in coma.”

HOLY SHIT!
