EPISODE 11
AT THE BENSON’S RESIDENT
Anna went into her room and started to cry, she wondered what she had done to Alex to make him hate her so much and what he is always happy when he see her sad or cry….. she sat on the floor beside her bed and cried her eyes out.
Jordan barged into his brother room, looking very angry
JORDAN
what was the meaning of what you did out there bro
he asked but alex ignored him and continued with what he was doing.
JORDAN
I’m talking to you bro, why did you have to push your wife like that? even if she offended you, must you treat her that way?
ALEX
This is my house Jordan, I will do whatever I like and if it’s not okay by you, you can leave
JORDAN
(was shocked to the bone)
what!!!!!!?
ALEX
you heard me right, I owe you or no one any explanation on how I run my home….. wait us Anna a child? can’t she just decide that she has had enough of my nonsense and just leave? she want me to divorce her so the scandal can ruin my reputation.
His last statement made Jordan to feel dizzy, he couldn’t believe his ears…..so his brother kept his wife in his house all this year’s not because he still love her…but because he didn’t want a scandal that would ruin his career.
JORDAN
since when did you stop loving that girl?
ALEX
did I ever love her? please Jordan I’m so tired and nee-d to freshen up……you can see your way out.
Alex said and went into his bathroom, Jordan stood there for a minute trying to process what he just heard…. after what he witness today he could only imagine what Anna has been throu-ghthis pas-s two years she has been married to his brother.
He opened his brother’s door and went out, straight he went to Anna’s door and knocked….but Anna didn’t talk, her tears we’re choking her that she couldn’t open her mouth.
Jordan heard her crying and pulled the door open not minding she didn’t ask him to come Inside….. immediately he entered he went to seat beside her on the floor.
He felt pity for her, he wanted to scold her but what was he going to say when the person inflicting the pain on her is his elder brother.
He sat there for close to five minutes not saying a word…. Anna tried to control her emotions but the more she tried, the more the tears flooded.
Jordan moved more closer and held her face, she looked at his eyes, she was still crying… he gently pulled her head gently down to his che-st.
JORDAN
I’m sorry about what happened Anna…. I lack what to say but just know I’m sorry.
ANNA
for once in this marriage your brother has feed me nothing but sorrow, what was my offence? to love? or to be married to a man who I thought loved me? your brother has showed me hell in this period of time we got married….. your brother has really broken my heart Jordan
She said and cried even more….. Jordan pulled her head from his shoulder, turn and sat in a way he faced her directly.
JORDAN
why didn’t you just go? why didn’t you leave the marriage after seeing all this?
ANNA
how can I go? do you know the pride that was on my parents face the day Alex and his people came to ask for my hand in marriage? “people who think my family and I will die in poverty should come and see who my daughter is getting married to” I was their pride, the person who had to bring them joy…. how could I have gone back and put them into more ridicule….. my mum would be so sad, she wouldn’t be able to stand tall in the midst of her mate at the market….. that’s why I’m enduring all this.
JORDAN
it’s so sad when people expect too much from us not knowing what we had to go throu-ghto make them happy…. but still one’s happiness, peace of mind should come first…. you can’t keep enduring this…. Alex is my brother but I’m de-eply sorry to say he acted like a bastard tonight….. all my years knowing my parents mom and dad never had argument in front of us…. dad treated mum more like a twins….so where did he get his behaviors from?
ANNA
why did I become the prey? if Alex never loved me why did he marry me?
She kept lamenting untill Jordan shut her up with a hu-g…..this time he hu-gged her even more closer.
JORDAN
shhhh!! shhh! it’s okay, please stop crying….. it breaks my heart knowing that my brother is the cause of this tears.
Anna didn’t say anything again, for once she allowed herself to enjoy the warmth of a man…. a man who at least show that he cares about her feeling.
They stayed like that till Anna finally slept off resting on his shower….. Jordan pulled her gently and carried her from the floor to the bed…. he covered her with a duvet before he went to his room.
Immediately he got to his room he called his mum and told him everything his brother has been doing….. his mother was so shocked, she wondered where Alex learnt such bad characters from.
She promise to call Alex the next day and scold him for treating someone’s child badly.
AT THE GILBERT RESIDENT
King after dinner decided to take evening stroll to town so he asked Camila to tag along…. Jasmine had already gone go bed, so he didn’t border to wake her up.
At the car no body spoke, Camila was not nervous staying in the same car with her boss but she was shy….. but suddenly king remembered something and spoke
KING
do you remember that woman we bought something from yesterday?
CAMILA
We bought things from different women
(she said pretending like she doesn’t know)
KING
the woman that followed you to buy things from the market.
CAMILA
I remember her now, what about her sir?
KING
this morning I saw a news on a Facebook of a child that was stabbed in the ne-ck….. I saw another video of a woman crying and holding that same girl in her arms…. after watching the video repeatedly I realized it’s the same woman that you claimed cheated me
CAMILA
Oh really? I feel bad for her
king was shocked, she didn’t asked him how the child was involved in something like that, she didn’t ask him why something like that had to happen to the woman….. he became suspicious
KING
is that all?
CAMILA
sir, I didn’t hurt that child, it was that woman’s greed that brou-ght that calamity to her….. sometimes we suffer the consequences of other people’s actions…. her child is suffering from her greed … that child with grown up to hate her mother, and trust me…..she’s going to spend more than she cheated us with.
King parked his car immidiately, he was shocked with what was coming out from her mouth….. she couldn’t believe Camila could talk like that…… Camila could sense the shock, fear and doubt in his heart…. she immediately replace it with a big smile
CAMILA
sir, they are things you can’t see but I see them, they are things you don’t know but I know them….. that’s because I’m a freak.
king’s mouth was wide open, he couldn’t believe his ears…. he couldn’t believe he has employed a freak as a maid.
“hope I have not employed a wrong person to look after my daughter and I”?
He thought….. Camila saw that king would be scared of her so she turn to look at him…. she hit him with her two index finger and boom every details of their conversation they had concerning the woman disappeared.

Camila saw how scared king had become, she knew if she didn’t do something king might sack her so she brou-ght out her tow index finger and tou-ched his forehead….. immediately king forgot everything regarding the discussion.
king wondered he had to park all of a sudden.
CAMILA
sir why did you park?
KING
I had no idea….. let’s go
He started his car and drove away, but he kept wondering why he parked without doing anything.
He drove into a phone shop and asked Camila to pick the phone she would be comfortable with…..camila pointed to a torch light phone….. king couldn’t help but laugh it out.
KING
excuse me miss
SALE GIRL
good evening sir, how may we be of help to you?
KING
as a woman what kind of phone can someone gift you with that you will be very happy?
SALE GIRL
(she smiled)
sir you know we girls like Fancy things, if I have a choice I would go for a Samsung it’s the best….. but if I don’t have a choice I would just appreciate whatever I get.
King smiled, he was very impressed with her answer, it showed she’s honest and she can appreciate a little gift no matter what even if it’s not something she wants.
KING
do this lady a favor by picking her the best Samsung phone here.
The shock on the girl’s face was out of this world…. from Camila’s dressing you could tell she’s a maid….. so she was surprised that someone would buy such an expensive phone for a maid.
Camila didn’t say anything because she doesn’t even know how Samsung look like, the sales girl went and brou-ght three most expensive Samsung for king.
she explained the features to them and king picked the last one which has a woman color……
KING
I think I like this woman….. Camila do you like this one?
CAMILA
(Her mouth was open)
you want to buy this phone for me sir? I don’t even know how to operate big phone….. please get me a small one please.
KING
miss can you get me your pos so I can pay for this one?
SALE GIRL
sure sir
She walked fast and brou-ght their POS, king paid for the phone and tipped the girl with the down of twenty thousand naira for her help and honestly.
She thanked him so much and rushed to package his phone for him….. few minutes later she came back with the phone and still thanked king for the money before they left.
At the car Camila started to cry, king wondered why she was crying.
KING
why are you crying? you don’t like the phone? we can get the one of your choice if you don’t like this..
CAMILA
why are you being nice to me? since I came to your house I have done nothing but be useless but you still kept me, you didn’t sack me and now you bought a phone worth 200 thousand for me…… why are you so nice.
(she said crying more)
king was shocked, what kind of life has this girl lived that she feel uncomfortable when someone is being nice to her…… but he was glad that her tears wasn’t the tears of sadness but the tears of joy.
KING
(He smiled)
Camila you haven’t offended me in anyway so why should I be mean to you? because you work for me doesn’t mean you are less of a human…. you have seen me and James, the gate man I treat him like a brother too…. my staffs and I are always good okay?
CAMILA
I’m not comfortable with all this, I feel bad
KING
you ain’t comfortable?
CAMILA
I was brou-ght up by a very poor family sir, my dad and my mum are so poor that people think we are curse, no body wanted to as-sociate themselves with us, no one ever wanted to help us…. they hated us like a bug sir….. my sister and I grew up knowing love from just our parents, we never got love from outside because to them we were curse and we could inflict them with it….. we grew up to be contended with what we have….. we feel people are trying to either trying to mock us when they are helping us or they want to use us.
KING
(He felt pity for her)
Camila that has changed okay? I will continue to be nice to you so long you don’t change…. if you continue be a good girl I will continue to take care of you….. by the way, you say you have a sister? where does she live?
CAMILA
(She wiped her face)
she’s here in Abuja, she’s married.
KING
oh wow…. now stop crying okay? you know what? I know the perfect thing to make you feel better.
He started his car and drove into a chicken republic in wuse….. he bought Chicken and ice cream for himself, and for Camila.
He came back to the car and handed her the ice cream and chicken to Camila, he opened his own own ice cream and started to lic-k it…. Camila too had no choice she opened her own and started to lic-k too….. the first spoon she took swept her off her foot….. she danced her head in joy.
KING
you feel better?
CAMILA
I’m happy now…. thank you for the phone
KING
there, that’s the smile I want to be seeing on your face…..i don’t want anyone to cry because of me….. whenever I do something or say something that makes you feel sad, you just come to me and tell me about it okay?
Camila only nodded her head in agreement, she was busy enjoying her ice cream that she didn’t want to talk.
They finished taking their ice and Chicken and drove home.
King gave Camila her phone and promise to get her a sim card when coming back from work the next day…. she thanked him and went inside to sleep.
THE BENSON’S RESIDENT
the next day Alex woke up early, packed few clothes and left the house before his wife or brother would wake up….. Jordan checked up on his brother only to find out his brother had gone to work…. he immediately dialed his number but Alex refuse to pick Jordan’s calls.
Jordan decided to text him
“good morning bro, I checked up on you but you were not in your room, I guess you had gone to work…. call me once you are less busy”
after Alex read the message he ignored it but he had a rethink and sent Jordan a reply too
“I’m on my way going to the airport, I’m going to Germany….. I don’t know when I’m coming back because the contract I’m going to seal is very important….. I won’t come back until I signed the deal”
Jordan was shocked to the bone when he read his brother’s text….. he called
his brother immediately but Alex didn’t pick his call…. he wasn’t in the mood to get scold by his brother.
Jordan sat on his bed wondering what kind of a human he has as a brother…. what offense has Anna committed for his brother to hate her so much?
