It was morning and everyone was still asleep, except for Arjun and me.
“We nee-d to carry father’s corpses from there. We nee-d to give him a befitting burial.” Arjun said to me as we both glared at the rest of us who were sleeping.
“Yes. We should do that now.” I responded and we began to walk away when we heard Aaron speak behind us.
“Where are you going without me? You know we are in this together.” He said and we looked back.
“We thought you were still asleep, and we didn’t want to disturb,” I told and he shook his head.
“I wasn’t asleep. I have been up all night thinking about last night’s incident. And then I remembered the king and queen weren’t in the cave. Are they okay?” He asked and I looked at Arjun.
“No. They died.” He responded and Aaron’s mouth fell open.
“What? how did that even happen!” He asked as we kept walking away from the cave.
“We couldn’t save them on time, they were still in the building when we were evacuating. The funniest aspect is that we didn’t even remember them on time.” I explained and he sighed.
“Oh, God… That is so bad. Are you two alright?” He asked and I smiled with the corner of my mouth.
“We are cool. It’s since last night, we have gotten over it.” I said and Arjun nodded.
Inwardly I noticed Arjun had not gotten over it at all, but we nee-ded to act strong in front of the people. They are looking up to us now.
“So where are we headed now?” Aaron inquired.
“To get father’s corpse out of there, and if possible find mother’s too,” Arjun responded and I looked at him again.
He sounded like he was trying so ha-rd not to burst into tears.
We kept walking and soon we began to see the smoke from the houses that were destroyed yesterday.
We got to the place and we looked at the buildings with great amusement. It looked more damaged than we thought it would be.
“I can’t still get how the fire was so great un-der that heavy downpour,” Aaron said and Arjun approached one of the buildings squ-atting in front of it.
“They used a flammable liquid.” He said sniffing in something he packed from the walls with his finger.
“That doesn’t matter anymore. Let’s get father’s body out of here.” I said with vengeance screaming inside of me.
We got to where father laid and we could see his burns. He was burnt, no part of his body escaped the fire.
Tears filled my eyes as I saw him in that state.
“Who could ever think the great King Maeko would die a shameful death?” I said aloud and tears rolled down Arjun’s face.
“Though I hated him because he always acted like a dic-k, I am going to miss him so much.” Arjun declared In a shaky voice.
Just then we heard footsteps behind us. We looked back to see it was Mei.
“What in the hell are you doing here!” I yelled approaching her.
“Oh My…You are alive! You are alive! Where is Akira?” She asked eagerly and happily.
“You expect us to answer that? you traitor!” Aaron yelled in rage.
“What? I am no traitor! I was never told what Katika was up to.” She announced and I sneered.
“Do we look stupid to you? She is in love with you. She would tell you.” Aaron added.
“Believe me! I didn’t know. I would have talked her out of the evil act. Why would I even support her to kill you all? My childhood friends are here for crying out loud!” She exclaimed.
“The childhood friend you once betrayed,” I said in rage.
“Mei you nee-d to do other things than drive us down memory lane if you want us to believe you,” Arjun said.
“Fine! Maya’s birthday is coming up in three days.” She said and we all were like “So?”
“Don’t you get it? This could be our time to fight back.” She stated but I just couldn’t bring myself to believe it.
“What if this is another trap?” Aaron asked her.
“I swear it’s not! Can’t you just trust me this one time?” She asked and Arjun shook his head.
“Not after losing my birth parents on the same night.” He said and her eyes wide-ned.
“The King and Queen are dead?” She asked in shock and she began to irritate me.
“Stop pretending and get the hell out of here b**ch,” I said walking away.
Aaron and Arjun shook their heads and follow behind me.
“Fine! I would kill katika to show you my loyalty lies here.” She said and we all stopped walking abruptly.
“What? You would kill the love of your life to prove your loyalty?” Aaron asked.
“I never loved Katika. She was just there to give me plea-sure. She loves me and that makes me her weakness. I can get rid of her easily.” She said and we all looked at ourselves speechlessly.
“When do you plan on doing this?” I asked.
“On Maya’s birthday! I would get rid of that b**ch.” She said with her jaw clenched.
“Fine. Get rid of her, and we would plan the rest.” Arjun said and she bobbed.
Her phone rang all of a sudden, and she pulled it out.
“So she uses a phone now.” I thought.
“It’s Katika.” She said picking up and moving the phone towards us.
“Mei where are you? the stroll is taking too long. I feel you are still mad at me for last night.” Katika told and we all looked at Mei.
“I would be back soon. I nee-d to grief.” Mei responded and we waited impatiently for her response.
“Please be back soon. I miss you already.” She said and Mei scoffed silently.
“Will be back soon.” She said and hung up the call.
We all looked at each other not knowing what to do or say.
“Do you believe me now? I got angry with her because she never told me her plans and she claims to love me. She apologizes but I can’t forgive her. If she told me I would have told you to watch out.” She said and I sighed.
“Fine. Before I can trust you again, I nee-d to hear that Katika is dead and you killed her.” I declared.
“Deal.” She said eagerly and we nodded.
“You should go back to her now. She shouldn’t know we are still breathing.” Arjun added.
“Got it.” She said and turned back.
She walked away and we all got silent for some minutes sinking the information in.

Mei was still very fast asleep when I brou-ght out the ring and bought and stared at it again.
It looked so beautiful.
For three days now, I have been rehearsing how to act when it’s time to ask her the million-dollar question.
“I hope she doesn’t say No, because I would be so hurt. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.” I thought staring at her as she slept.
Soon, I sprang to my feet. It’s Maya’s birthday!!!
I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and here it is now.
I wore my sli-ppers and walked out of the room heading to Maya’s room. I wish to be the first to wish her a happy birthday.
I got to her room and I turned the knob of the door, luckily for me, she didn’t lock it. I walked In quietly as I saw she was still asleep.
I got close to her bed with a large smile on my face.
“Happy Birthday Maya!!” I yelled all of a sudden making her jump to reality in fear.
“Oh My God Katika. Was that necessary?” She asked looking at Katika weakly.
“Of course it was! I am the first to wish you a happy birthday today, isn’t that great?” I asked and she shook her head.
“No, it’s surprising and suspicious. Why are you so happy about my birthday today? You have never been so concerned.” She started ru-b-bing her eyes.
“We have everything we want now Maya, and we are yet to celebr@te it. So your birthday is the best of its kind we will be celebr@ting.” I explained and she yawned nodding.
“Fine. Thank you.” She responded and I giggled.
“Can I ask you something before I leave?” I asked and she looked at me.
“What’s that?” She asked looking attentive.
“Do you think Mei would want to spend the rest of her life with me?” I asked and I saw a smile form on Maya’s face.
“Don’t tell me you…” She said and paused. I nodded happily and shyly looking away.
“Yes, I am going to ask her to be my wife,” I announced playing with my fingers.
“Wow. That’s so soon, you must love her.” She declared and I nodded smiling.
“I do love her and I won’t stop loving her,” I said and she smiled.
“That is so cute of you.” She replied and I giggled.
“So back to the question. Do you think she would say yes?” I asked once more.
“I think she likes you too, so I think she would say yes Katika. Congratulations in advance.” Maya said and I felt bu-tterflies in my tummy.
“The way you made it sound gives me so much joy. But, I don’t know how to approach her and ask her the question.” I said hoping she would help me out.
“You don’t? so how did you plan on giving it to her before?” Maya asked and I shrugged my shoulders.
“Just kneel in front of her and give it to her,” I said and she laughed.
“You don’t do things that way. You nee-d to look for somewhere damn R0m-ntic, then give it to her with any sweet words that proceed from your mouth.” She addressed and I nodded.
“So I can do it during the party?” I asked and she smiled.
“Perfect. During the party, in front of people. She wouldn’t think twice before saying Yes to you.” She said and I leaped for joy.
“I am so happy! I can’t wait to make her mine officially.” I stated and Maya kept mute staring at me.
“You should get dressed! The party would begin soon!” I exclaimed in excitement walking to the door.
“Katika,” Maya called making me stop and I looked back.
“Yes,” I responded.
“Thank you.” She said and I had a large smile on my face.
“And thank you for been the best sister and partner in crime,” I said and we both laughed.
“Don’t waste more time! Get dressed.” I said finally opening the door and walking outside.
I didn’t bother going into the room again, I headed straight to the maids that would be preparing the palace for the birthday party.

I opened my eyes and looked at my side to see Katika wasn’t in bed anymore. I sighed and sat up, I couldn’t stop thinking throu-ghout the night.
I kept thinking of the best way to kill Katika because she merits a painful death to Akira and Arjun.
But to be honest, she has been so nice to me then no one has ever been. She doesn’t deserve to die by me but if she doesn’t die today Arjun would never believe I am on their side.
“I am going to miss her so much.” I thought with tears gathering in my eyes. I looked around the room maybe she was somewhere around but I couldn’t find any trace of her.
“This is going to be so ha-rd.” I thought getting out of bed. It’s Maya’s birthday but there is nothing to celebr@te about.
I would be killing the First Lady to love me wholeheartedly to show loyalty to my childhood family.
“Do I even know what I am doing?” I thought sighing. I grabbed my head in frustration because I wasn’t sure what to do.
Katika’s loves me so much, everyone can see that. Is she supposed to die in the hands of love?
I walked to the window and peeped out looking at the maids who were busy with the party preparations.
“Won’t I regret this?” I thought again. My head was so filled with confusion.
“Hey.” I heard Katika say behind me as she wrapped her hands around my wai-st making me flinch in fear.
“Did I scare you?” She asked resting her head on my shoulders and I nodded.
“Good morning,” I said holding her hands firmly against my wai-st.
“Good morning baby. Did you see me in your dream?” She asked and I giggled.
“I see you every time, everywhere,” I said turning to look into her face.
She wrapped her hands around my ne-ck and gave me a soft ki-ss on the li-ps.
“You look so beautiful today.” She said and my cheeks glowed a little.
“And you look very beautiful as usual,” I responded ki-ssing her again.
“Mei.” She called bowing her head and holding my fingers.
“Yes,” I responded glaring at her.
“Have you forgiven me?” She asked looking right into my eyes with those beautiful eyes of hers.
“Yes, Katika. I have.” I said and she hu-gged me ti-ghtly.
“Thank you so much, Mei. I love you with all my heart.” She said happily.
“I love you too,” I said ki-ssing her hair.
“The party is starting in an hour. You should get prepared. It’s going to last the whole day.” She muttered and I bobbed my head.
“Okay. I don’t even know what to wear.” I said and she smiled.
“Worry less. I have everything un-der control. I nee-d to check out what the maids are doing. I will be back soon.” She said ki-ssing my forehead.
She walked out of the room and I sighed peeping out of the window again.
I walked to where I put my phone and searched for Niran’s number.
I dialed it and he picked up almost immediately.
“Is she dead already?” He asked from the other end.
“I can’t do it. I want to but I can’t.” I said and silence came from the other end.
“We should have known you would betray us.” He said In anger.
“If I want to betray you, I would lie to you that she is dead, but I didn’t. Can’t I do something else to prove myself?” I asked.
“No… You can!” Arjun cut in abruptly.
“You can help send all the weapons in the palace down to us. Do this and you gain our trust.” He explained.
“And Katika gets to live? Deal.” I said feeling happy that I won’t be killing Katika.
“Do your work perfectly! We nee-d to try weapons before the end of today.” Arjun said before hanging up.
I threw the phone on the bed, and I began to speculate again.
“How do I move these weapons down to the cave?”
