EPISODE 41
©Sir Zach

Jake was awed by the words that has sli-pped out of his mouth. He was shocked by his own actions. He didn’t know why he had asked them to go now, but anyway, wouldn’t it be great to start his day doing what he has anticipated most, all week. Spending his morning with this chaotic girl was something he’d love to experience.

He suddenly felt his thump excitedly…he couldn’t wait.

Jake made his way into the bathroom and took a quic-k shower. Soon he was standing in his walk-in wardrobe deciding on what to wear. He had an unusual frown on his face, as he looked at himself on the full length mirror, with a blue turtled n£¢k sweat shi-t, held over his b©dy. He really wasn’t sure on what to wear.

This was not something he usually experienced. He could always pick up something to wear and it usually wasn’t this ha-rd .

Why does he feel like he was going out on a d@t£ and he had to dress to impress his d@t£. He had finally turned his wardrobe upside down, without deciding on what to wear.
This was supposed to be simple right?

Jake turned to his door when he heard someone knock on it.

“Come in” Blake walked into the room and he was shocked by the state of Jake’s wardrobe. His mouth agape as he scanned throu-gh the room.

How the hell did the meticulous Jake turn into a messy and chaotic person.

“Not a word” Jake warned in a stern tone when he noticed the awful look on Blake’s face, Blake could only nod in stupefaction.

“Why are you here?” Jake asked looking at Blake throu-gh the mirror, while he contemplated if this outfit was suitable enough. His question snapped Blake out of his thoughts.

“Uhhmm..are you going out?” Blake asked curiously.

“Yes”

“Where? Can I come too?” Blake asked excitedly.

“No”

“But why?” He asked with a sad pout.

‘Because three is a crowd’ Jake said in his mind.

“Now tell me why you are here or get out” He really nee-ded to focus and Blake wasn’t helping him do that.

“I c@m£ to ask you if you could perhaps go with me to the mall and then we can have lunch at that Italian restaurant we usually do visit. I miss going there with you” Jake turned to look at him and he could tell Blake really wanted to hang out with him. He sighed.

“Can we go some other time?” Jake asked softly. To be sincere he also missed hanging out with him. Before he left the country, they always hanged out together. They’ll visit their favorite Italian restaurant almost every week, and Blake would always tag along to the club. But unfortunately, things has changed since his return.

Now he had to run the company and Blake has lost interest in going to the club with him, which definitely was Mike and Ricks’s fault. Now they spend so little time together.

“How about I go with you?” Blake couldn’t help but try again, even when he knew what his reply would be. Jake knew he couldn’t take Blake along with him. If it were to be something else, he’d agree in a heartbeat, but this is different. so hell no.

“Want to hang out with Mike and Rick? if you want to, then sure” Jake replied with a straight face.

“Nahh I’ll pas-s” Blake replied quic-kly. There was no way in hell, he’d start his day with those crazy fellow.

But why were they meeting up so early? They normally hangout at night except on few occasions, even though weren’t usually this early.

Well, he couldn’t bother himself. Seems he’ll have to go shopping alone, just like always when Jake was abs£nt.

He raised his at Jake, who was now un-der his own scrutinizing gaze, looking as if he was about to make a life changing decision even if he was just looking at his outfit.

“Just lose the jacket” Blake said before walking out of the room. Jake watched him leave before returning his gaze back to the mirror. Jake took Blake’s advice and he re-moved the Jacket he had on.

He looked at his reflection on the mirror and he gave a simple shrug. Hopefully this would do. He picked up his phone, at the time, he had about twenty five minutes left.

Looking at the location in his phone, he knew it would take him more than the twenty five minutes to arrive there. So he decided to take his sport car which he hadn’t planned before, because it was too eye catching. But at this point there was nothing more he could do than take, if he doesn’t want to keep her waiting.

The closer he got to his destination, the more anxious he felt. He ran his hand throu-gh his hair for the fifth time. Mixed emotions of happiness, anxiety, and confusion enveloped him. He was confused because he didn’t why he was doing all this.

When his eyes saw Jade sitting at the bus st©p, he felt pu-lling him from the bo-ttomof his stomach. There was a feeling that soared throu-gh his entire b©dy. The side of hisl-ips covered up into a smile when he saw Jade’s out fit.

She was dressed in a blue jean and a white shi-t and white sneakers. Her long hair was pu-ll-ed into a pony tail. The girl was casually dressed but she was beautiful enough to make heads turn. She keeps surprising him every time they meet, by unveiling her various sides of beauty.

“Miss Jade” He waved with a cool smile when he rolled down the windows. But she didn’t reply. She just kept staring at the beauty in front of her in a daze. Jake chuckled in amusement when he looked at the girl that was enarmored by his car.

He was feeling regretful at the moment. He should have followed his gut and taken a more ordinary car than this beast. Or maybe he has just discovered something that could be advantageous to him later. A sm-irk appeared on his face at that thought.

He turned to Jade again and this time he spoke a little louder. “Miss Jade?” Jade jo-lted back to reality that was when she realized who she has been gawking at the car abs£ntmindely.

He turned to Jade again and this time he spoke a little louder.. “Miss Jade?” Jade jo-lted back to reality that was when she realized who she has been gawking at the car abs£ntmindely.

Jade was more enthralled by the interior of the car she was now sitting in. She had seen this beau only on magazines and on the internet. She often wondered if she’d ever know someone who would be crazy enough to buy this pricey car. Or if ever she’ll be able to see one in her lifetime. And now here she was sitting in one. Jade’s eyes roamed around the car trying to take it all in. This was something to tell that little brother of hers. He’d be thri-lled and jealous at same time.

Jake watched her amusedly as she kept looking around the car. He stared at her silently, because he didn’t want to interrupt whatever she was feeling at the moment.

Jade’s eyes suddenly met his and she instinctively bit her bo-ttoml!pin embarras-sment. She couldn’t believe she has been shamelessly drooling over this man’s car in his pres£nce and he was just staring at her like he has found the newest toy he was fascinated with.

“Sorry…I couldn’t help but adore you car” Jade said embarras-sedly as she tried avoiding his gaze.

“I take it you love cars or you simply love this one in p@rticular” Jake asked with a smile. Maybe he should never bring this one out again or the care might be useful to him someday.

“Yeah, I do love cars, most especially this one” Jade replied brushing her hand over the dashboard like she was trying to sooth it, this she did subconsciously.

“I see” Jake said with a meaningful smile. It really does seem he has found something to his own advantage.

Jade retracted her hand when she realized she was embarras-sing herself in front of this man again!. She cleared her throat and looked at Jake, who could tell she was beginning to feel self conscious again. He looks at her waiting to hear what she wanted to say.

When people did that, I mean clear their throat, didn’t it mean they had something to say or they were ma-king their pres£nce known??

“So..what game house are we going to?” Jade asked. She’d love to be done with this as soon as possible, not just because she had other plans, but because she might die due to the fact that she was totally uncomfortable.

“That can wait. First we have to gr-ab some breakfast” He said with so much nonchalance.

“Breakfast?” Jade asked with surprise. Weren’t they supposed to head to the game house immediately? At least that what she thought.

“Yeah. I don’t joke with breakfast and I definitely can’t pl@yin an empty stomach. My br@in jui-ces dry out without food” Jade listened to him like she was lost and she didn’t un-derstand a word he just said.

“You don’t mind if we have breakfast right?” Jake asked raising a brow. Jade looked at him silently before letting out an inaudible sigh.

“No, as far as you don’t take too much time. I still have other things planned for the day” Jade informed him and Jake didn’t miss the word ‘you’ which she had used to replace ‘we’.

“Okay” Jake said before looking ahead to drive off.

Jade looked outside the window. She didn’t have anything to say and she was currently enjoying the silence prevailing in the car and she wished it would remain that way. She’ll as well enjoy the ride in this dangerously beautiful car.

Jade anticipated the godly move of this car. She had re-ad about its tremendous speed and she was anticipating it. Soon Jade turned to look at the man behind the wheel like he was some sort of alien. Why was the car moving so slow, even slower than an ordinary car. At the rate Jake was driving she was sure they’ll never arrive at wherever they were headed today, even if they did, maybe by twilight. This was an insult to the reputation of sport cars.

Jake felt her gaze at him and indeed there she was staring at him like he was doing something wrong. Jake tossed her a quizzical look, it was then she realized that she might actually be staring at him in an awkward way.

“Errmm..I’m sorry sir, but can we go a bit fas-ter” Jade said. She bit herl-ips again after spurting those words out. Hope she didn’t sound rude? She just couldn’t help it. First they had to be fast with the breakfast and head to complete the main task of the day. And also it was a rare opportunity to sit in a car such as this, and she ha-rd the urge to see what it can do.

Jake looked at her briefly as if contemplating her request, “Okay. Buckle up” Jake replied and Jade did just as she was told.

Sincerely Jake also didn’t know why he was driving so slow. Maybe he liked the fact that she was sitting in his car and he just didn’t want this to end soon. Something in him was trying to stall as much as possible.

Jake geared up and he stepped on the g@s pedal ma-king the engine roar beautifully. Jake checked his gauges and they were where he’d want them to be. He turned to look at Jade again and he knew she was anticipating how fast the car could go.

Jade heard the engine revving and it made her excited but she didn’t show it. She didn’t want to continuously embarras-s herself in front of this man anymore. Jake floored the g@s pedal and the car jo-lted forward like it was back to life. The car sped along the road like a lightening bolt, ma-king Jade grip the seat belt on impulse.

She looked out the window but she couldn’t make out any of the buildings as they were moving so fast. She could feel bu-tterflies in her stomach, but soon she was a bit relaxed, as she was getting used to the speed at which Jake was driving.

None of her reactions has escaped Jake’s eyes, as he kept watching her from the side of his eyes even though she was trying so ha-rd to minimize them. He noticed she was getting relaxed and accustomed to the pace they were travelling. A wicked sm-irk appeared on his face. ‘Lets see how far you can hold up’ he said in his head.

Jake shifted the gear one more time and pushed the g@s ha-rder, increasing the RPM of the car.

Jade suddenly felt her head spin, her vision was suddenly centered on the road in front of them, her peripheral vision was now gone and everything was in a blur. She turned to look at Jake and she could see he was damn focused on the road. At this point she so wanted him to slow down if possibly st©p. But she was too scared to distract him, scared they might get into an accident if he as much as take his eyes of the road for a second. And he just had to wind down the windows.

Thankfully it was a Saturday, and the motorway wasn’t as busy as it were on weekdays and it was still early that morning. This were the things that made her a bit relaxed, else she might alre-ady be screaming at the t©p of her lungs.

Jade’s grip over the seat belt ti-ght£ñed she su-cked in air to prevent herself from puking out that apple she had just munched on.

Jade felt her palm sweat which must be due to the flight or fright hormone, Adrenaline.

Jake was impressed by how tough she was. He had expected her to beg him to go a little slower, but she didn’t. How disappointing.

Soon he slowed down and drove at a more comfortable rate but still fast enough to impress the little monster by his side.

Jade eyes caught the time in the car and she shocked to see they have been driving for half an hour. She has been too carried away with Jake’s car that she has lost track of time. How far was the restaurant or wherever it was they were headed for breakfast.

Just before she could say a word, she heard Jake say, “We are here”

Jade looked out the window and indeed they were parked in front of a swanky restaurant which had a very awkward name; The Place. Jade thought who the hell would name a restaurant this way. She saw Jake unfastened his seat belt to alight the car and she did the same.

Jake gestured for her to follow him, and she did. Jake walked ahead with Jade trailing behind.

He had an evil smile on his face. He could tell was probably still shaken from how fast they have driven here, but he couldn’t be blamed. She had asked for it and he obliged.

They haven’t even started and he was having fun alre-ady. Should he really keep to the four hours as promised? Why was he feeling like the hours might be too short and he should probably extend it?
