EPISODE 37

“Your idea was lame” Blake muttered, plonking himself on the sofa as he barged into Jake’s office. Jake lifted his gaze from his l@pt©p, his eyes narrowed as he glared at Blake.

“What did I tell you about knocking?” Jake asked with a stern tone. Countless times he has reminded Blake to knock before barging into his office, but his words were not been heeded to.

“Sorry” Blake apologized ma-king Jake sigh in resignation.

“What idea are you talking about?” He asked, returning his attention back to the l@pt©p sitting on his desk.

Blake stared at him with incredulity. What sort of question was that? What other idea could he be talking about if not the stupid one his generous brother had given him.

Jake lifted his head to look at him when Blake didn’t answer his question. One look at Blake demeanour was enough to joggle his memory.

“You mean the one with the flowers?” Jake asked c0cking a brow.

“Hmm”

“I take it, it didn’t work?” Jake closed his l@pt©p, focusing his attention on Blake who obviously looked like he was sulking.

“Of course, it didn’t work” Blake retorted, as he rolled his eyes at him.

“Tell me what happened” Jake said as he stood up from his seat and walked over to sit by Blake.

Blake’s eyes followed him till he was seated by his side, but he kept staring at him. He still felt embarras-sed about telling his brother stuff like this. Well, he was obviously more experienced at handling women than he was.

He stared at him and signed, “You can’t laugh at me again like you did the last time” Blake warned with seriousness.

“Sure” Jake nodded, not certain if he would be able to keep his promise.

“Okay”

“So I went to her office this morning to see what her reaction would be like when she sees the flowers” He paused for effect and see if Jake was actually listening.

“Mmm” Jake nodded, encouraging him to continue.

“When I got there, she still has that graven look on her face, and she was outrightly plucking the petals out of the flowers” Blake blurted out.
“Worst thing is, I don’t even know why I’m bothered. I mean this change of attitude is common in women right? You know them better, don’t you?” He continued without waiting for a reply..

“But I can’t shake off the fact that hers started after my birthday. You know, I kind of invited her and I also ignored her, though it was unintentional. This is all their fault” He babbled on.

“Whose fault?” Jake cut in.

“That stupid ky….” He let his words trail off when he realized he had almost mentioned Kyle’s name. He still hasn’t mentioned to Jake that Kyle had showed at his p@rty, and to make matters worst, he had showed up with Hillary. Telling Jake would put him on a rampage. He was certain this brother of his would turn the country upside down till he found Kyle and probably plung a dagger throu-gh his che-st. It was best if Jake still believes that Kyle had long left the country. This was the best outcome for everyone..

“That isn’t the problem here. I’m sure you don’t know who I’m talking about” He said guiltily, trying to divert Jake’s attention back to the problem at hand.

“What I’m saying is, she has changed since that night. Although we aren’t close, but she’d always smile when talking to me. And I feel like she’s always trying to flir-t back when I flir-t with her, but now…” His words trailed off again as he looked at the floor to roof window that was standing behind them like he was trying to relieve a memory.

“It’s all gone. And she keeps looking at me differently”

Jake was surprised with all the things coming out of his brother’s mouth. This was the first time he had heard Blake talk about a women like that. He was utterly dumbfounded.

“So you’re saying you miss her smile and you like her flir-ting with you?” Jake inquisitively asked. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t interested in this.

“I’m not saying that. When you put it like that, you make it seem like I like her”

“Well don’t you? Because it seems that way to me” Jake said thoughtfully.

“Of course not” Blake rebu-tted. “I don’t like her. Women are troublesome. I don’t have the energy to handle that, and I’m not like you.” He said ma-king Jake laugh at his expression. He st©pped laughing immediately he saw Blake scowling at him. He knew he wouldn’t be able to keep his promise.

He cleared his throat and apologized, “Sorry.”

Jake didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t say that Blake likes her-whoever she was- but one thing he was certain of, was his brother has never been bothered by a woman, and this was his first. Although Blake flir-ts alot, he has always kept his distance emotionally, maybe because he was too scared to d@t£. He was all bark with no bite. But this was definitely the first time a girl was stressing him out.

“Maybe it’s just you feeling guilty for ignoring her at your p@rty as you said. You should have mentioned this p@rt when you first c@m£ running to me, you know” Jake commented looking at him.

He remembered how Blake had come into his office telling him he had a problem which he nee-ded his help with.
~~~~~
“What kind of problem could that be?” Jake asked.
“A…girl problem” Blake muttered slowly. Jake bellowed out in laughter when he heard him. He couldn’t believe his ears right now. Blake Beau having girl problems?! How hilarious!
“You..you have girl problems” Jake asked amidst laughter. He words were hinted with absolute disbelief. There was no way, that was true.
“I thought you were scared of girls?” He asked, more like a statement.
“I’m not scared of girls and I don’t remember telling you such” Blake refuted ma-king Jake laugh even ha-rder.
“Can you plea-se st©p laughing” Blake said glaring wickedly at this heartless brother of his. Jake raised his hands up like he was surrendering when he saw the gloomy look in his face. “I’m sorry” He apologized.
“Tell me what the problem is” Jake said.
“I think she is angry with me. I’m not sure since she didn’t say anything, but I can feel she’s acting different”
“Girlfriend?” Jake asked curiously.
“Hell no” Blake denied.
“So a friend?” Jake asked again raising a brow. It got to be one right?
“Still no. I don’t like female friends and you know that. She’s just someone I know. So help me big bro and st©p asking questions” Jake stared at him silently like he was trying to re-ad his thoughts. He signed defeatedly.
“Flowers” Jake said.
“Huh??” Blake impatiently waited for Jake to continue.
Jake sighed when he realized Blake didn’t un-derstand. “Give her flowers”
“Really?” Blake asked doubfully with his brows scrunched.
“Yes. Girls like flowers and I’m sure whoever this girl is, she would like it too” Jake replied.
He knew ladies always threw themselves at Blake, but the little guy seems to hate the idea of being in a relationsh!por slee-ping with one. He knew how they always threw themselves at him when ever they went out together, and he was sure none of those girls would be stupid enough to give Blake the kind of attitude that had made him come to seek his advice.
So whoever this girl was, it was either she must truly like this stupid brother of his who was such a useless flir-t, or she wasn’t the type to be moved by status, because she wouldn’t be bothered by something like this, since Blake was a Beau. He was sure giving such a person extravagant stuffs wouldn’t work on her.
“Are you really sure?” Blake was being skeptical.
“Are you doubting me?” Jake asked tilting his head.
“No!” Blake declared.
“But what kind if flowers. Should I give her any one?” Blake asked again.
“That’s for you to find out. I can’t help you with everything.” Blake looked at him in disbelief.
“Just say you don’t want to help me” Blake uttered pu-lling a sad face.
“Ah, and confirm if she’s allergic to flowers. You don’t want to make her hate you more” Jake tea-sed earning him a glare.
“Thanks for your little help.” Blake said as he stood up to leave. Jake shook his head as he watched him leave. That was something, huh!
~~~~~

“Well you didn’t ask for details” He shrugged non-chalantly. He was supposed to be the women expert, so he should have known the questions to ask.

“So what should I do now. I really don’t like this new attitude of hers”

“I’ll advice you just talk to her. Ask her if she’s angry with you and if she is, apologize” Jake adviced.

“But I did” Blake blurted out.

“Do it sincerely. You can’t just say sorry. Mean it.” Jake said emphathically.

” But what if she’s still angry?”

“Then she likes you dumb as-s” Jake said ma-king Blake’s eyes wi-den in surprise. Jake chuckled in amusement when he saw Blake’s face.

Blake has been in shock since his brother said those words to him. That isn’t possible right?
Jake must be wrong about it. There was no way that Amy Walker likes him.

Though that woman may smile at him and sometimes casually flir-t back at him, she was still ‘miss stuffed up’. There was no way she liked him. Absolutely no way!

Blake sat down in Jake’s office as he continued thinking about the possibilities of Jake being right about his theory. Jake stole quic-k glances at Blake, he chuckled seeing how stupefied his brother was.

He hasn’t really thought about someone liking him. His mind wandered to the who has been causing choas in his mind. He picked up his phone and screen throu-gh his contacts.

He paused when he saw her name.
‘Jade’ He whispered to himself.

Thoughts of calling her suddenly c@m£ into his head, but he quic-kly divulged it out of his mind. He can’t do that. Call and say what?

He quic-kly dropped his phone to avoid the temptation building in his heart. There was no way he’d call her. He would make a fool of himself.
What the hell is happening to me? Jeez!.

He ran his hand throu-gh his hair in frustration. He hasn’t been able to think clearly without her thoughts breaking into his mind. For God’s sake he only had S-x with her once and that has been his way of life. But what the hell happened this time?

Just one night with her, has totally messed up his life. The last two S-x he had, he wasn’t able to get past a round without memories of that night flashing throu-gh his mind.

Her soft and fulll-ips, svelt w@!st, blue eyes that held him place like he was enchanted, her soft b©dy…Damn!

He couldn’t forget how sweet herl-ips were, how soft her b©dy felt, and how he enjoyed pressing it against himself.

What sort of trouble was this? He glanced at his phone again and picked it up and before he could realize it, he had dialed her number. $h!t, what the hell is wrong with me?

Should I drop the call? Maybe I should just let it ring? Before Jake could arrive at a conclusion, he heard her voice over the phone.

“Hello” Jade spoke from the other side of the phone as soon as the call connected.

“Hello??” She said again when she got no response.

“Hel..lo miss Jade?” Jake finally spoke up. What the hell was he supposed to say now?

His eyes sh0t up when he remembered Blake was still sprawled on the sofa.

“Hold on” He said as he dashed into the lounge in his office. Blake listening in on his conversation with her was a risk he couldn’t take. He definitely wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Blake was too lost in his thoughts that he couldn’t hear what was going on around him.

Thoughts of Amy liking him or not and how he could apologize to her bombarded his head.

“Miss Jade?” Jake spoke into the phone when he walked into the lounge. He was dead! He didn’t know what to say.

“Good morning sir, you called”

“Yeah…yeah I did. I..wanted to be sure I had the right number. I forgot to save it” Really??? That’s all I could come up with?

His heart began to race when Jade didn’t respond.

“I guess you have the right one” Jade finally replied. In honesty, she wasn’t really talking to this guy at all, not even over the phone. How could he forget to save the number, when he had come all the way to get it. Maybe he wasn’t smart after all.

In all honesty, when she saw his call, she had almost declined it. But she knew that would not be good, since she had a deal with him.

“Yeah I do. It wouldn’t have been nice asking you for it again” He said with an awkward chuckle. A brief silence soon followed after that.

“Hmm I’ll see you on Saturday right?”

“Do I have a choice?” Jade covered her mouth when she realized her tone was rude. “I’m sorry sir. Yes, you’ll see me on Saturday” Jade said politely. There was no nee-d to be rude to him. It wasn’t his fault that they had a brief history together, she was the one who approached him. And it was just unfortunate that they had to bu-mp into each other after that.

“Okay. Hmm – do you have a place in mind?” Jake asked scratching the back of his n£¢k. Why does he feel like he is acting like a high school boy who’s trying to ask a girl out for the first time. This is so unlike him.

“Place?” Jade asked in confusion, as her brows narrowed.

“Like an Arcade. I remember you saying something about no pri-vate places?”

“Yeah. We could always do that on Saturday. I mean look for a good place” Jade said.

“Okay”

“Sir if that will be all, can I return back to work now?”

“Sure that’s all. I’ll see you on Saturday”

“Yeah” Jade replied. She waited for him to end the call on his own side, she didn’t want to be rude again, since this guy literally has a good percent of her future in his hand. Imagine him calling off the contract. Hell no. If tolerating his pres£nce would be the sacrifice she’d make to achieve her goals then she’d gladly make it.

As if Jake could re-ad her mind, he abruptly disconnected the call. Of course he didn’t want things to be more awkward than they were alre-ady.

Jake looked down at his phone. He couldn’t believe he just did that.

‘Jeez Jake, this is so not you. What the hell has come over you?’ He scolded himself.

There has to be a possible explanation for this. This girl is messing his head up.
