EPISODE 50

“You have forty seconds” Jake said in an even tone as he looked at the man standing in front of him. Their eyes were locked but Jake’s gaze was stoic. There was no expression on his face which made the man standing before him perplexed. He had thought he could try to read Jake’s expression but the man was as still as steel.

“Twenty seconds.” Jake counted down all the while their gaze still locked on each other. The more Jake remained calm and eased the more the butler slowly became perturbed.

“You can save yourself by choosing to die, because like I said I won’t show mercy by Killing you. So make your decision now.” Jake said in a cold and calm, letting him know that he meant every word he had said. He was sure going to make his life miserable just like the way he’d deal with Hillary.

“Five seconds.” Jake said and at that same moment approaching foot steps were heard from behind the door. Jake lifted his eyes and he saw Kyle approaching them.

“Two sec–”

“It’s an emetic drug.” The butler blurted out, making Jake to co–ck his brow at him, silently ordering him to continue.

The butler silently looked at Jake for a few seconds, he wanted to look behind him but Jake intensed his gaze on him making him freeze on the sp-ot, the Jake before him was nothing like the one who has been living in this house for the past months. He heaved a sigh and continued. “The drug naturally induces vomiting, but continuous oral administration over a long period of time causes toxicity.” He confessed.

“And what are the consequences of this toxicity?” Jake inquisitively asked.

“It could–” The butler hesistated but Jake took a step closer to him as he asked again, “What are the consequences of this toxicity?” His eyes were cold and void of emotions, letting him know he wouldn’t condone one more hesitation from him.

“It–” The man stuttered again making Jake frown de-eply. He didn’t know why but seeing the look on Jake’s face made him nervous, and he knew there was also someone behind him, but who he didn’t know.

Jake looked towards the mug one more time as if silently telling the man what was to come upon him if he stalled one more time. The butler’s gaze also darted towards the cu-p and he swallowed nervously. Though the drug was used to induce vomiting and it causes poisoning after chronic exposure to it, but he also knew that the effects that might result from an acute poisoning, the result could also be lethal. Worse case scenario it could cause cranial hemorrhage, seizure and death, and like hell he didn’t want to die now…..no one wanted to die.

“It causes chronic heart disease, shock, coma and death.” He truthfully replied. Jake stilled when he heard him. What echoed more in his head was the ‘chronic heart disease.’

Did he say it causes chronic heart disease if given over a long period of time? Wasn’t his grandfather suffering from a heart disease? Was this the reason for his grandfather’s health condition?

He glanced at the mug one more time before looking at the butler. “Is this the reason for my grandfather’s heart condition?” He inquired in a still but dangerous voice, and when the man nodded he felt blood rush to his head, his hands clenched into a fist.

“And how long have you been giving him this?” He asked pointing to the mug.

“Two years.” He replied making Jake stiffen a bit.

Two years? That was exactly when his grandfather started having health challenges and the doctor had diagnosed him with a heart disease. So this was because of the drug? But if the drug was that toxic why then was his grandfather still alive even after two years? He should be dead by now except they have been poisoning him with minimal doses.

His eyes turned livid at this realization. But if that was the case why did it seem like he was giving him more than usual today. They had seen him coming out from a pharmacy, and with how new the pill container looked it meant he had just gone for a refill but why then was it half filled when he got there?

“You were going to kill him today weren’t you?” Jake drawled his eyes piercing in the man’s own, while the butler hesistantly nodded his head.

Jake felt like grabbing his ne-ck and squeezing life out of him. He was really going to kill his grandfather? In fact, they have been killing him gradually?

“Why?” He asked in a chilling voice, but the butler looked away from him. He couldn’t answer that. He might have been exp-osed but he’d never give up the name of his employer.

Jake hissed irritably when he saw the man’s action. He looked towards the door and sighed inwardly. He was desperate to hurt this man, his blood was boiling and his veins were on the verge of exploding.

And as if the heavens heard his voice, he heard many footsteps from the sitting room.

“Jake,” Kyle called out letting him know that Marcus has arrived, while Jake nodded.

Kyle stepped into the kitchen when Marcus men arrived the kitchen, they had sp-otted Kyle by the door.

“Psycho Jake I heard you wanted me here. This had better be good.” Marcus spoke as he walked into the kitchen. He had been surprised to receive a call asking him come to Jake’s house immediately.

“This will be more than good.” Jake said.

“Take him to the garage and tie him up. We’ll be torturing him today, I hope your men are good?” Jake asked calmly making Marcus look at him with surprised eyes.

“You want to torture a man in your grandfather’s house?” Marcus asked amusedly making Jake glare at him.

Marcus threw his head back and laughed, “I’ve always known you were not fulfilling destiny. You should have been a mafia boss. Ah what a shame.” He exclaimed dramatically, making Jake to eye him. This man was really crazy.

Marcus stifled his laugh when he saw Jake glaring at him. He looked towards his men and spoke up.

“You heard the man, let’s take the pa-rty to the garage. And someone get me a whiskey. It goes well with the smell of blood. I like it..” He grinned crazily.
…..

Jake looked at the man who could ba-rely stand on his feet. His hand were tied to two separate pillars and his feet were ba-rely touching the ground.

Looking at him now, he didn’t look like the man who had been standing in his kitchen a while back. Now he had blood dripping from the side of his mouth, and bruises all over his body. Marcus men had dealt him a great beating.

Jake took a step closer to him and asked, “Are you ready to tell me now?” His tone was still as calm as it was minutes ago, but the man still had his li-ps sealed.

Jake chuckled derisively, before looking at one of Marcus’ men who looked more brutal than the rest.

“Peel off his skin.” Jake ordered making the others to look at him shock but he didn’t pay them any attention.

“And start with stomach, and pull off his nails.” Jake said before walking back to his position. Kyle and Marcus looked at him in utmost shock. Seeing the ti-ght and unwavering look on his face Marcus threw his head back and laughed.

“This is too good be true. I nee-d more wine. Jake Beau is officially a brutal psychopath.” Marcus said amusedly, while Kyle walked up to Jake worriedly.

“Jake what are you doing? You might kill him” Kyle told him.

“Death is the least of things I’ll give to him.” Jake said coldly.

Soon the voice of the butler could be heard reverberating in the whole garage as Marcus’ men carried out their @$$ignment.

Jake looked at the man as he wailed out in anguish. Jake knew it was only a matter of time before he gave in and confessed everything he wanted.

“Please!” The man wailed as they pulled out his toes nails and his finger nails at same time.

“Peel off his knees.” Jake ordered. The sight was gory but it was nothing compared to all the pain Hillary had afflicted on his family. He was going to do far worse to her, he swears on it. What he wanted right now was to get rid of the villian that has been plaguing his life and family, before Jade wakes up. Because when she does all he wanted was to have a happy life with her, and not be bothered about evil step mother or anything of that nature. He was tired of it all.

“Stop, stop I’ll say it. It was Hillary.” The man blurted out when one of the man cut a piece skin on his stomach. Jake tilted his head towards Kyle who knew exactly what to do.

“You said?” Jake asked like he hadn’t heard him well.

“It was your stepmother Hillary. She paid me to feed your grandfather the poison and keep an eye on him Incase he ever brings the lawyer here.” He confessed.

Jake scoffed when he heard that.

“And why are you killing him now?” Jake asked.

“I don’t know. She didn’t tell me, I only do as instructed.”

“And did she instruct to hypnotise him and my father too?” He asked pointing at Kyle while the man vigorously bobbed his head up and down.

“Yes she did. She hypnotised him and made him sign the will in her favour, then she overdosed him on the drug that’s why he had died out of shock.” The butler rambled out, too scared of Jake getting angry and asking for them to continue with the torture.

“What did you just say?” Jake asked in shock and disbelief.

“I said Hillary hypnotised him and made him sign the will before increasing the dose of the ipecac, and she hypnotised him (pointing his chin at Kyle) to stage an act that put your father in shock resulting to his death.” He repeated.

Jake stood thun-derstruck when he heard what the butler had just said. He felt like cold water has been poured on him. So his father had been poisoned too? Hillary had planned it out perfectly so much it looked like he had of an heart attack when he actually died of poison? Jake could feel his blood rush backward, he clenched his hand and grinded his teeth.

He turned red in anger, he looked like he was about to burst.

“I’ll kill that witch!” Kyle cussed out lividly. He also couldn’t believe Hillary was the one behind Henry’s death. He had thought he died from the heart attack which had resulted to him seeing him on his bed with his wife, but he had died from poisoning.

Jake bit his li-ps in anger as he tried to control himself. He couldn’t bear to lose his mind to his anger right now. He had to be meticulous for the time being. He’ll make Hillary pay for it.

Hillary was going to pay with her life for this.

“What else do you know?” Jake asked lividly.

“Nothing.” He shook his head but Jake didn’t believe him.

“Continu–”

“I swear I know nothing more. That was all I know. Hillary only hired me for the job, she never shared any of her idea with me or with anybody. The only person who know everything is–”

“Shirley.” Kyle completed his sentence making Jake look at him.

“Yes Shirley. She knows everything. I only got swapped with the real butler that was supposed to work here, and she gives me instructions, nothing more” He rambled out. He was saying the truth, because he knew the Jake before him might not hesitate to kill him if he as much as lied to him.

“And how were you supposed to tell her your job is done?” Jake thoughtfully asked.

“I’ll send her a text.” He honestly replied.

“Well not today.” Jake told him making the man to look at him in surprise. “Where’s the phone you’re supposed to use?”

“In my bed drawer.” He told him. Jake told Kyle to go get the phone, directing where his room was since he hadn’t been there in a while. Soon Kyle returned with the phone and Jake ordered Marcus’ men to lose the butler.

He fell to the bloody ground and Gr0-ned in pain.

Jake p@$$ed his phone to him and said, “Call her and you’ll tell exactly what I’ll tell you. Don’t be smart, because I won’t be nice..” He warned him while the butler nodded his head in un-derstanding.

Jake directed the butler on what to do while he also gave Kyle some instructions as well. Today he was going to pick up a directing role and plot Hillary’s downfall before the day ends. He was tired and he nee-ded peace in his life but he knew there was no way he’d have that with Hillary still lingering around like a plague. He had to get rid of her for good.

He stared at the butler who was fidgeting with the phone un-der his scrutiny. To be honest the Butler had never thought Jake could be as shrewd as he was right now. Yes, he had heard of his famous temper and how he behaved when he went berserk but he had never expected something like this. The man before him looked monstrous.

Jake gave him a knowing look ordering him to stay calm so Hillary wouldn’t get suspicious of anything.

“You better stay calm or we can start this all over again.” Jake threatened while the butler bobbed his head up and down in un-derstanding and utmost trepidation. He took in de-ep breaths to calm himself as he waited for the call to connect, but he just couldn’t be calm. Fear and pain were searing throu-ghevery of his fibre.

“I told you never to call me.” Hillary drawled the moment she picked the phone. They had a rule of not speaking via calls, only throu-ghtext messages which he has been ordered to delete almost immediately, but now the moron was calling her, why?

“Boss there’s been a problem.” The butler said in an almost natural tone, while his eyes nervously stayed on Jake. Hillary frowned at his words.

“What sort of problem?” She asked in annoyance. She couldn’t afford to have problems now. That fool! She cussed in her mind.

“I think you might have to go over to the Beau mansion.” The Butler said making Hillary co–ck her brows.

“Why?” She asked in a suspicious tone. She didn’t un-derstand why he’d say something like that.

“The old man is almost dead, but I have found the will.” The butler said, his eyes firmly glued on Jake who gave him an approving nod to continue.

“You Moron!” Hillary cussed lividly. “What do you mean by ‘almost’? I want him dead and not almost dead you fool!” She raged not hearing him talk about the will.

“Did you increase the dose as I instructed?” She asked lividly.

“Yes, I did. I gave him the drugs as you ordered.” He replied.

“Then why isn’t he dead yet you swine!” Hillary was seething in anger. Here she was celeBr@ting the success of her plans and there he was messing things up.

“What the hell happened?” She demanded angrily.

“Jake happened. He had arrived at the last minute and he had called in an ambulance to take the old man to the hospital but I don’t think he’ll make it.”

“That fool.” Hillary cussed. “He’s always trying to thwart my plans but I’ll make sure to teach that little pr*ck a lesson. That old man would die today either on his way or in the damn hospital.” She snarled.

“What about the will?” The butler asked again when it seemed Hillary was too angry to hear what he had said earlier.

“What about it?” She asked in annoyance.

“I said I found it, are you going to take it?” He asked. Hillary stiffened for a few seconds when she heard that.

“You found the will?” She asked with a disbelieving tone.

“Yes, I found it.” The butler reaffirmed making Hillary’s li-ps twitch with excitement. She was surprised to hear that. She wasn’t expecting to hear that at all.

“Are you sure about what you’re saying?” Hillary asked excitedly, but her tone was quite sceptical.

“Yes, boss.” The butler replied confidently making Hillary burst out in laughter. She threw her head back and laughed heartily.

“It seems that old man was just waiting to die at my hand for me to finally lay my hands on that damned will. He should have said so and I would have killed him long ago.” She said ecstatically but the butler didn’t share in her joy.

Hillary stifled her laugh and ordered, “Bring that will over now.” She couldn’t delay for one more second. The neuron terminals in her Br@in were beginning to secrete dopamine (aka the feel-good hormone’

“Boss that’s the problem. I don’t think I can bring it.”

“Why?” Hillary asked in an irritated and angry voice as she jumped to her feet. What was wrong with this fool?! She had finally gotten her hands on the will and this moron was going to spoil things?

“Because Jake had asked me to go to the hospital too. I’m currently at the hospital with him.” The butler explained, his eyes still fixed on Jake who had a stoic look on his face.

“That stupid fool.” She cussed out.

Looking at Jake who gave him a nod to go on, he continued, “I had secretly left the house open, the file is in the hidden drawer at the foot of the old man’s bed, you should go get it right away.” He told her, his heart was beating fast as he hoped and prayed Hillary took the bait. He didn’t think Jake’s plan would work because he thought Hillary was far too shrewd to fall for such a dumb plan, but little did he know that Jake had thought things throu-gh. Hillary was obsessed over their family wealth so much he believed it had affected her mind. She had spent several years plotting to lay her hands on them, and that must have clouded her judgement. He was sure at this moment Hillary wouldn’t see reason, all she would be focused on would be laying her hands on the will.

Jake knew even the shrewdest and toughest of villains die for the most stupid reason, their obsession. They get so hooked to a purpose so much it becomes the bait that lures them to their death. Jake was basking on this small fact. If Hillary could go throu-ghso much of killing his father and now his grandfather just for the will he believed a little trip to the house wasn’t going to stop her. At least that’s what he thought until he heard her say…

“I’ll send someone to retrieve it immediately,” Hillary told him making the butler look at Jake, it was just as he had thought. Hillary wasn’t stupid. He was about to say something else when she interjected him, “You know what, I’ll get it myself. I’m tired of you lots being incompetent. I’ll get the job done myself and ensure that old man doesn’t live the hospital alive.” She hissed. Her words surprised the butler who less than a second ago was sure she wouldn’t fall for his trap. But it seems she was really stupid after all.
