Chapter twenty-six

“You should return back, everyone needs us now.”, One of the protector said to Cyrus.
“I can’t go back, I am tired of the punishment. I just want to experience freedom, they should sort themselves out.”, He said.
“Do you really not care about them? Everyone needs your help, Cyrus this is your destiny and it can’t be changed.”, Another said.
“But I don’t want to go back to that life, I am tired.”, He said.
“You are not dead Cyrus, you are only asleep. You need to go back to save them, they are your family.”

#Next day
“Where is Cyrus?”, They asked Alex who was bleeding profusely.
He has been wounded badly, he was bleeding all over, he would rather die than open his mouth to disclose where Cyrus was.
“I don’t know where he is, I wasn’t able to touch him too and by the time I knew what was happening, he disappeared.”, He said but they wouldn’t buy his lie.
Magnus walked towards him with a knife.
“For the last time, where is Cyrus?”, He asked.
“I don’t ….!”, He didn’t wait for Alex to finish talking before he stabbed his thigh making Alex scream in pain.
“Why don’t you just kill me? I won’t say anything other than I don’t know.”, Alex said and Magnus punched him.
Alex was dipped into the water for some time before he was pulled out.
He was trying ha-rd not to inhale the water but it was impossible.
“Where is Cyrus”, Magnus asked again but Alex wouldn’t stop.
“I will rather die.”, He said.
“Have you checked his family?”, Magnus asked and his guards nodded.
“They don’t look suspicious.”, They replied.
“Lock in back into a cell and if he doesn’t confess before nightfall, cut his fingers away, just make sure you keep him alive.”, He ordered.
“Cyrus where are you?”, Harley asked in her mind but there was no response.
She couldn’t feel anything.

Cyrus slowly opened his eyes and he met a lady dressing him.
He quickly took up, ready to fight.
“Who are you? Why am I here? How are you able to touch me without getting hurt?”, He asked and the woman just smiled at him.
“I am Alex’s mom, he brou-ght you here for us to take care of you. Are you feeling better than? You weren’t breathing earlier.”, She replied but Cyrus still wasn’t sure either she should trust her or not.
“Mom he is alive, I was afraid that you were already dead and some people came looking for you but we had to pretend that you weren’t here just like Alex instructed.”, The little girl said.
“Some people? What did they want?”, Cyrus asked the woman.
“They are bad people, they are after our life and your life.”, The woman replied.
“Since when have I been here?”, He asked looking around.
“Three days.”, The little girl replied.
“Where is Alex?”, He asked.
“He left us, he said that he has to leave. My brother looked scared, can you please protect him?”, The little girl said but Cyrus said nothing.
“I have to go, thank you for taking care of me.”, He said and turned his back to leave.
“Please don’t die and please save my brother, he might be in danger.”, She said.
“We will see about that.”, He said.
“Your sword.”, She said and landed it to him.
“Thank you.”, He said.
“Stay alive son.”, The woman said and that was the first time someone was calling him son ever since his parents died.
He nodded and disappeared.

“Hailey! Please be save for me, hold on for a while, I will save you soon.”, He said.
“Cyrus!!! You are alive, thank you for coming back.”, She said back.
Cyrus entered into the demon world and started attacking them.
He wasn’t using his sword this time around, it was his power he was using to kill them.
Using sword was only going to take his time.
“Lord Cyrus! You are alive.”, Everyone said happily as soon as Cyrus stepped in the place where everyone was kept.
They have never realized how important their heartless lord Cyrus was to them.
He used his sword combined with his power to break the door opened and they all came out.
“Let’s split up to look for the rest.”, He said ignoring what they were saying.
“Cyrus I knew that you are still alive, you probably survived because this betrayal here added a medicine in the drink he poisoned. If only I found out on time that this betrayal wasn’t to be trusted.”, He said as he pulled alex head up aggressively.
His eyes were shut and his face body was filled with so much blood especially his face, anymore from afar wouldn’t even recognize him.
He, ember and Harley was all tied down with poisonous arrows pointed at them.
They aren’t immortal, none of them would be able to survive one.
“If you make one more then consider the three of them dead.”, Magnus said and Cyrus clenched his fist.
Magnus should just consider himself dead if he should get hold of him.
“You are crazy if you think that arrow would hurt me, I was given some demonic power remember.”, Ember said and Magnus clenched his fist.
“At least the other two wouldn’t survive.”, He said.
“Let them go Magnus, please let them go.”, Cyrus said after he calmed himself down.
Getting angry wasn’t going to solve anything.
“Wow!! That is the first please I would be hearing from you, but that’s not what I want.”, He said.
“What do you want?”, Cyrus asked.
“Bow down before me and beg me.”, He demanded.
“Cyrus don’t do it, you can’t trust him.”, Harley said.
Cyrus got on his knees and bowed and Magnus signaled for both Alex and Harley to be shot an arrow.
The arrow went straight into their body.
Cyrus got so mad and he rushed to Magnus and attacked and the fight started.
The effect of the poison didn’t really affect Harley because of the ne-cklace but she felt herself become very weak and she trued to keep her eyes opened.
The other students rushed to release them while some started fighting with the other demons.
“Harley, you can’t die. You have come too far to die.”, ru-by said in tears watching her fight for her life.
Emily just stood beside Alex looking at him in tears.
“After betraying us, do you now want to leave us?”, She asked.
“I am sorry about everything.”, He managed to say.
Cyrus had succeeded in defeating Harley. He got so mad at everywhere became so dark and a string wind started blowing.
Cyrus succeeded in pulling out Magnus heart and he fell dead immediately.
Ember immediately used her power to burn his body, she was very mad that he just used her.
“Harley are you okay? Don’t die okay? I am here now.”, Cyrus said as he rushed to her and she nodded.
Alex placed his hand on Harley and tried healing her.
The other superiors joined too in healing her with their powers and halfway Alex started bleeding throu-ghhis nose.
“Why don’t you heal yourself too? Do you want to die?”, Cyrus said.
“My powers doesn’t work on me if I don’t put my mind there, I am too tired, I deserve this anyway.”, He replied.
“Are you crazy? Are you out of mind? You can’t just die and escape your punishment.”, He said to Alex but Alex was really loosing his consciousness.
“What about your family? Your sister asked me to make sure you are safe.”, He said.
“Just try Alex, you have healed a lot of people and now you don’t want to heal yourself.”, Cyrus said shaking alex violently, he wouldn’t even be able to close his eyes with the way Cyrus was aggressively shaking him.
“Please try to heal him too.”, He said turning to the superiors.
“It can’t work on him, if he doesn’t heal him also.”, One of them replied.
“Make sure you heal yourself as the superiors do it or else I will never forgive you.”, Cyrus said.
“Is that clear?”, He asked.
“I really can’t…! I don’t deserve to live after everything I …”
“Is that clear?”, He yelled as he cut him off and Alex nodded.

Alex ba-rely lasted for two minutes before he pa-ssed out.
He tried — he really tried but his best wasn’t enough.
“Will the both of them survive?”, He asked the superiors.
“It doesn’t look like it and even if one of them would survive, it would be Harley.”, They replied and Cyrus burst into tears.
“You better not die, I promised your sister to keep you safe.”, Cyrus said hitting him.
“Lord Cyrus, I suggest we head back to the academy now. Let’s see what we can do about their condition.”, One of the superiors suggested and they returned back.

Cyrus kept checking on both Alex and Harley but there was no improvement at all.
Their condition were getting worse. Harley managed to open her eyes but Alex’s own remaining shut.
“Harley please don’t die, you told me the same didn’t you? Are you now going to leave me? I don’t even know what to do to cure this.”, He said as he cried.
“I will still hold on and be fighting for us, I don’t want to leave you all alone in this world, I don’t want you to be lonely anymore.”, She said with her weak voice.
“If I can’t help the people I cherish and love so much with my power, then I am just useless.”, He said.
“Cyrus …!”
“I love you so much.”, He said as he kis-sed her hand.
“kis-s me on the li-ps, you rejected my kis-s the last time.”, She said and he kis-sed on her li-ps.
“I’m sorry.”, He said.
“If you are really sorry, kis-s me alone but slowly this time around.”, She said and he did it alone but it was slow this time around.
“Don’t worry I will come up with something.”, He promised.

“Please help me, what will happen to them?”, Cyrus asked his godmothers.
“They won’t survive it.”, They replied and Cyrus’eyes wide-ned.
“What?”
“They won’t survive it and there is nothing we can do about it.”
“Please help me, I know you can do it… Please.”, Cyrus asked on his knees but they took their faces away.
“They don’t deserve to live especially the boy, he was the one that make you develop uncontrollable emotions making you treat him like your brother and he prevented you from killing that lady and now they both are your weakness, so why should we let them leave?”, They said.
“Don’t I deserve people that I will care for? I am human too, I am not a stone. Alex only made me realize that I can love again, he made me realize that I am not all that bad.”, Cyrus said still on his knees with tears.
“But then he betrayed you — he betrayed the academy, he was the reason you almost lost everything.”
“He is still the reason I am alive, Magnus would have looked for other ways even if Alex didn’t do it. He wasn’t supposed to do it but he it wasn’t his fault and he has shown how sorry he is.”, He replied.
“See — you are defending him. Even if the girl will survive, he surely has to die.”
“Why are you all being so harsh? I don’t want to lose another brother, do you even know how this feels like? I want to switch my life with theirs, you can do that right? Let me take their place and let them survive.”, He said and they looked at each other.
“You know that we can’t do that.”
“Okay … Collect my powers in exchange of their life or something, please just help them. Please I am begging you, I will do anything you ask me to do.”, He pleaded.
“There is a condition if we must help you.”, They said and Cyrus looked at them hopefully.
“What condition?”, He asked.
“They will loose their powers and memories and they would go back to living their normal lives like nothing ever happened.”, They said and Cyrus couldn’t believe his ears.
“They will leave him? And they would go back to their normal live?”
“So they won’t remember anything? The academy? Me? Nothing at all?”, He asked in confirmation.
“They would go back to living their normal lives.”
“You guys are doing this on purpose, you are doing this to torture me… So who am I going to feel safe with once they leave me, I will go back to being lonely and cold.”, He said.
“Make your choice Cyrus, I think that is the only way, we can help you.”, They said leaving him puzzled.
“So does than mean that he would go back being alone?”
“I accept the condition.”, He said but I want to say goodbye before they leave.
“Ok then, immediately you finish, they would disappear and appear in the normal world, leaving their life like nothing happened.”, They said and he slowly nodded.
“Thank you.”

Cyrus just stared at Harley in tears, not a single word came out from his mouth.
“I’m sorry it’s going to end this way but you will be free now, I won’t be scared if something bad happening to you and you can go back to your boyfriend.”, He said.
“And please don’t go back to blaming yourself for the death of your parents and I’m sorry that it is the only thing I can do.”, He said as he kis-sed her forehead.
“I love you so much Hailey, don’t forget that.”, He said and she slowly disappeared.
“Alex don’t blame yourself for what happened, nothing was your fault okay? I have forgiven you already, you shouldn’t spend the rest of your life suffering again. It doesn’t matter if you don’t regain your memory once you wake up but you will always be my brother.”, He said as tears rolled down.
“But Alex this is going to hurt me so much, I have been used to seeing you by my side, this is my first time doing something for you but it also means they won’t see each other again.”
“Thank you for remaining on my side during those ha-rd times even when I was very cold to you, you stood by me. Thank you for teaching me how to love again and don’t worry about me, just live a good life.”, He said and Alex disappeared too.
“This is for the best.”, Cyrus said trying to convince himself.
