Kehinde was woken up by the buzzing of his phone and he stretched himself sleepily before picking up the call.

“Doctor Kenny, good morning sir.” The voice at the other end said calmly and he quic-kly re-moved the phone from his left ear and glance into it to confirm the caller but it was an international number.
💭
“Hello.” The female voice said when she did not get a response.

“Yeah…hello Toyo, how are you?” He said calculatingly.

“Really? So you still have my number?” She asked with an angry tone.

“Why not , I still do.” He said and re-adjusted the pillow un-der his head.

“Kenny, do you know you are wicked? You are very wicked,so you were getting married and couldn’t invite me. I never knew you hate me this much…” She started ranting over the phone and he had to interrupt her.

“Come’on Toyo, it hasn’t gotten to that yet. What we did was just the traditional marriage which c@m£ too sudden than I planned, and besides, it was done in the village which may not be very convenient for most of my friends. My plans was to invite you and many other of my friends to the white wedding which will take place here in the city… I’m so sorry Toyo.” He explained calmly and there was silence at the other end.

“Hello Toyo baby, are you there?” He said trying to make a joke out of her seriousness.

“Kenny, leave me jor. You always have a way to calm my h0t blood with your sweet mouth. I alre-ady planned to finish you with my mouth this morning.” She said smiling.

“Oh! Thank God your blood is calm now. Toyo baby, I’ve really missed your face o. You decided to abandon me abi?” He tea-sed her laughing.

“As if you really wanted to see me, finally the lucky girl have taken you away from me…” She said trying to be emotional and he quic-kly cut in.

“Toyo, where are you pres£ntly? You have to sew asoebi for me o.” He tea-sed her laughing.

“Kenny, I’m pres£ntly out of the country but will definitely come down for your wedding. At least to show you that I still love you regardless of everything…” She said still sounding emotional.
“Oh! That would be so kind of you. Toyo, I will remain eternally grateful for that.” He said feeling very grateful.

“Yeah, Kenny you deserve much more. You are such a nice man and sometimes I wish I met you earlier than I did. But, that’s not necessary anymore, my Mr handsome have been taken.” She said and f0rç£d out a smile showcasing her beautiful set of teeth which made her even more beautiful.

“Ouch! I’m blu-shing.” He said at the other end laughing and she joined him to laugh.
“Funny you,” she said while laughing then continued.

“plea-se Kenny, don’t hesitate to let me know if you nee-d my help in any way and keep my own asoebi for me.” She said with a low voice.

” Toyo baby, I will do just that because I truly appreciate this your call. ” he replied with excitement in his voice.

“Let your wife hear you calling me Toyo baby there, she will just break your head for you.” She said laughing as she has always enjoyed him calling her that name.

Sade kept trying to reach Kehinde but mtn kept telling her that the person she was calling was busy on another call and she bec@m£ angry.

“I’ve been trying to reach him for the past fifteen minutes now but he is busy speaking with another person.” She murmured and then suddenly, fear gr!pp£dher heart when she remembered the text message Kehinde showed her from one of his ex-girlfriend on their traditional marriage day.
💭
“I will never forgive you Kenny, my blood will continue to haunt you every day of your life and you will never know peace in your life.” The text message re-ad.

“Maybe he is speaking with her,yes that Jumoke of a girl, he is speaking with her..” Sade heart burn h0t within her, followed by drop of tears.

“No wonder he wasn’t in the mood to talk to me yesterday. I knew it from his reaction that he l love her, Kehinde used to long for my calls and voice, but since that yesterday he has changed considerably and don’t want to hear my voice anymore. He wants to go back to his vomit..” She thought within her as h0t tears flowed down freely.

“Kenny, I’ve got to go. See you next week when I arrive Nigeria for the big occasion.” Toyo said after about twenty minutes call and they bade each other good bye.

He dropped his phone with a dry smile and saw Sade’s missed calls, and quic-kly returned the call when he remembered that he didn’t call her back yesterday before slee-ping off but Sade refused to answer the calls.

He called her two more times and when she didn’t pick up, he concluded that she was busy and probably not with her phone. He climbe-d down the be-d and walked to the kitchen to find something to eat as he didn’t remember eating anything before going to be-d last night.

As he sipped his cu-p of tea, he kept thinking of possible ways to get Jumoke to forgive him and renounce her words in the text message she s£nt to him, but couldn’t find one in his mind. He found himself dialling her number and this time, it was ringing but she wasn’t picking up.

“Mummy!” An idea dropped in his mind.

“Yes, I think I have to involve mummy now. That’s the only person Jumoke can listen to..” He thought and quic-kly searched for the church mummy’s number.

” Brother Kehinde, I was just about calling you. How are you? ” the church mummy asked.

“I’m fine but not really fine o mummy.” He replied coldly.

“What’s wrong oma oba?” She said then continued.

“Sade just left here crying and telling me that.. that that…in fact come over to the house let’s settle whatever the matter is.” She said conclusively.

“Crying? Why is she crying?” He asked in confusion.

“Oma oba, just come over to the house first.” The church mummy replied.

“Uhm… Mummy, plea-se I will first check in at the office before coming ma.” He said pleadingly and she agreed to wait for him.

Immediately the church mummy ended the call, he dialled Sade’s number again and she picked it up in anger.

“Are you done flir-ting with your ex-girlfriend? You think I don’t know you have been talking with that Jumoke of a girl? Is she the first to lose her vir-ginity?…” Sade blurted out angrily over the phone and it got him angry.

“Don’t you dare refer to Jumoke that way again! Don’t try it ever again!” He fired back at her to her amazement.
“What did you tell the church mummy?” He queried trying to control his temper but she angrily ended the call.

“Sade, don’t push me into doing what we would both regret later.” He s£nt her a text then threw his phone on the be-d and entered the bathroom to have a cold water bath.

“What is this am hearing about you and Jumoke?” The church mummy started when Kehinde arrived the parsonage at some minutes past.

“Mummy, I’m sorry, what exactly did you hear about us?” He asked and relaxed back on the cushion.
“Brother Kehinde, is there anything you nee-d me to know?” The church mummy asked trying ha-rd not intrude into his personal affairs.

“Mummy, actually called you this morning because of Jumoke, but I still nee-d to hear from you…” Kehinde was still talking and she quic-kly cut in order to discourage him from insisting.”Ah! Oma oba, leave what I heard aside. plea-se go ahead and tell me what you planned telling me.” She said smiling.

He didn’t find it easy saying anything without first hearing what Sade told the church mummy, but for courtesy sake, he swallowed ha-rd before speaking up.

“I actually nee-d your help ma, Jumoke s£nt me this text last week which I also showed Sade,” he started and showed her the text.

“Yeey!!” The church mummy screamed as she re-ad the text message.

“The same Jumoke that I know?” She asked in surprise.

” yes ma.” Kehinde replied.

“Ah! I un-derstand how she feels but it hasn’t gotten to this extent. So, what did you tell her?” She asked trying to get more information.

“Well, Sade and I agreed that I should ignore her and move on but just yesterday night, while I was praying; I felt the nudging to call and apologise to her because somehow, sometimes ago she visited my office un-der the guise that she nee-ded medical attention and we ended up k!ss!ngeach other because her tears weakened me and I couldn’t both yield to make her happy…” Kehinde was still talking and the surprised church mummy interrupted him.

‘You both k!$$£d each other? But did you tell Sade about it? ” the church mummy asked trying ha-rd to hide her surprises.

“That was sometime last year, Sade and I were not in relationsh!pthen. But, I told her everything she nee-ded to know about my past and pres£nt before our traditional marriage, so she is very much aware.”

“Oh! It happened before you and Sade started?” She asked for clarification and he nodded in the affirmative as he watched her breathe down a sigh of relief.

“Okay! Go ahead, I was actually thinking it happened of recent.” She ch!pped in feeling a bit relieved and Kehinde went ahead and narrated what happened next, especially how he walked her out disgracefully.

“I felt the nee-d to apologise to her strongly in my spirit though Sade was against the idea, so I called her yesterday night but she refused to pick my calls. After calling her line several times, she s£nt me this text.” Kehinde narrated sadly as he showed her the text message on his phone which got the church mummy herself speechless.

“Mummy, that young girl have done so much for me in this life that I shouldn’t hurt her for any reason. Yes, I took her vir-ginity and left her, but it wasn’t my plan to leave her that way. I loved her and of all the girls I d@t£d back then, she was the only one I planned settling down with in marriage.” He said painfully and breathed down heavily then continued.

“Even after i gave my life to Christ, i still had in mind to marry her but God told me clearly to stay far away from her that she is not meant to be my wife and I had to leave the campus after graduation without leaving a trace of where I was going with her. I always wish I could right my wrongs but I can’t, if I could, I would have returned her vir-ginity back to her.

Mummy, I nee-d you to help me talk to her to forgive me.” He said with a pen up frustration.

The church mummy kept quiet for a while before asking him one question that had been bothering her.

“But brother Kehinde, do you still love Jumoke?” She asked looking intently into his eyes and he gave a dry smile before answering her.

“Mummy, If I tell you that I have no love in my heart for Jumoke, then am a big liar. I love her but not that kind of love anymore, I can’t have any inti-mate relationsh!pwith her anymore. I just have this feeling of indebtedness for her and nothing more.” He replied smiling.

“Come’on mummy, I love my wife. I love Sade beyond words and can’t trade her for anything. If I wanted Jumoke, I could have gone for her all the while…” Kehinde said laughing.

“But Sade told me you shouted her down over the phone because of Jumoke. Why choose your ex over your wife?” She queried and he was surprised that Sade actually reported him to the church mummy. He kept quiet for a while with his head lowered in displea-sure.

“Oma oba, your wedding is few days from now and you shouldn’t give the devil chance to tear you both ap@rt. Jumoke is my spiritual daughter, I will talk to her to leave you people to enjoy your marriage. But plea-se, don’t let any woman ever come between you and your wife.” The church mummy counselled him but he didn’t say a word.

“Brother Kehinde,” the church mummy called him and he lifted up his head and she could see that he wasn’t happy.
“I can see you are still not happy..” The church mummy said.

“Mummy, maybe I should make this thing clear here. Sade can actually talk about Kehinde today because Kehinde is still alive, she could report me to you as her husband because Jumoke saved my life when cult boys wanted to waste my life on campus.

I should be a dead and forgotten entity by now,she wouldn’t have even met me if Jumoke had not sacrifice her own life and happiness for me. I was supposed to be at the initiation ground that bloody night, but Jumoke showed up in my house.

I didn’t know how she got to know that I was going for cult initiation that night, but she rushed to my lodge and begged me not to go anywhere that my life’s in danger. I insist on going except on one condition which was that she spend the night with me in my room and she painfully accepted.

That was the very night I took her vir-ginity, she cried in pain, soa-ked in the pool of her own blood and I couldn’t but promised to marry her.

I woke up in the morning to the news that my two good friends with whom I was to be initiated the previous night were both shut dead along other cult members at the initiation ground. Jumoke was a very principled girl, and she had refused me S-x several times but that night, she sacrificed her vir-ginity for my life. ” Kehinde narrated sadly and breathed down before saying the words that t©uçhed the church mummy more.

“I’m sorry if I over reacted, but believe me; not even my mother would speak ill of Jumoke in my pres£nce as Sade did and I would not shout her down. I owe Jumoke my every respect and love.
” All these I have discussed with Sade, why is she finding it difficult to believe me..”

He said and picked up his car keys, excused himself and walked out leaving the overwhelmed church mummy speechless.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
“You are fond of concluding matters too quic-k. And you must watch it. Watch your anger Sade or else you will spoil things for you.

You told me that Kehinde had gone back to his ex, but you were wrong.” The church mummy called Sade and began to counsel her immediately after he left.

” Even if he did, you can’t get him back by fighting him. You should have drawn closer to him and look for a wise way to get your man back. A wise woman build her home, but a foolish woman tears down her home with her hands, that’s what the bible says. ” the church mummy continued.

“You see, be careful with Kehinde. He is every woman’s dream man but God has given him to you freely without struggle. He is not like Kolade who can come out openly and argue with you when angry, if you push him too ha-rd , you may push him into another woman’s arms because he doesn’t have a strong heart.

I don’t know you to have bad character, so don’t even start building one. If you want to enjoy him, act like his baby girl and not like a fellow man.

As for his case with Jumoke, don’t ever speak evil of her before him rather join and encourage him to be nice to her and if possible, you should also try to get close to her and build a relationsh!pwith her…

” The church mummy kept on and on as Sade lowered her head in guilt.

“Finally, Sade find a way to apologise to Kehinde as fast as possible. He is not happy at all.” The church mummy said and she agreed to do as instructed.
