( Why would I stalk you?)
Dorris scoffed. She undressed and stepped into the shower.
Is that how easy it is to marry someone? They’ve known each other for less than a year. Why would she marry him? Her career will be at stake too and they are from two different worlds right.
Her dad owns a small shop where he sells electrical instruments.
His own dad owns a large company, feeding thousands of families with its resources.
How can they be compared to each other?
Moreover, Ray is a public figure, every aspect of his life will be accessed by the public. She would not be able to cope with criticism from the people.
“No marriage for now.
I have to focus on my career”, Dorris keep on telling herself.
Toby was full of smiles that morning.
” Good morning, sis”, he greeted Dorris.
“Morning”, Dorris replied.
” What’s with your mood this morning? “, Guy asked her, his face full of concern.
” Just ignore me”
‘Why did that guy have to talk about marriage. It’s been on my mind. Does this mean I really want to marry Ray?
Why? We’ve not even known each other for a year. That’s not an excuse though. I’ve seen couples that get married after knowing themselves for only Four weeks. I..”
“Dorris, are you sure you are okay?”, Guy asked.
” I’m fine”
Toby pat her head.
“Cheer up, baby”, he said and walk away
” Why will you call her baby? Are you liking Dorris?”, Guy asked.
“I don’t. I’m going to see the one I liked”, Toby said.
Immediately Toby walked to the belles practice area, the girls started smiling.
” Hi, handsome”, one of the girls said.
“Go on with your practice, I’m here to see my friend.”, Toby said .
” Friend, and who would that be?”, another girl asked.
“Victoria”, Toby said and they all turn to look at Vickey who is busy stretching her body preparing herself for the morning practice.
” Good morning Victoria”, Toby greeted brightly.
“Good morning”, Vickey said giving we
a nice smile.
He walks to her.
” I got this pack of candy for you. As you eat each one of it, always remember this good friend of yours.”, He said.
“Thanks”, Vickey said collecting the pack from him.
” Thankswe for calling them yesterday_I mean my manager. But then, how did you find out I was in trouble? “, he asked her, then added jokingly ” were you stalking me?”
“Why would I stalk you!”, Vickey yelled.
‘I’m I suppose to tell him I did stalk him the day before to know the woman he is going on a date with and I waited for hours for him to finish his clas-ses.’
” Are you not in your final here. I think you should study more during your free time. Thank you for the sweets”, Vickey said and walked away.
“Okay, I will listen to you”, he yelled after her, smiling.
‘She care about me’, he keeps as-suring himself, mentally doing a joyful dance.
She had waited all evening. His car finally pulled into the estate. He did not see her standing on this veranda. He drove to the un-derground garage to pack his car. He walked back to his veranda.
” Someone will think you are a loan shark waiting to ask for your dept. Why are you waiting on my door step?”, he asked.
“I told you. I’m sticking to you. I’ve come to live with you. Don’t worry, I will clean and do chores.”, She told him.
He scoffed.
” Don’t worry. I have an housekeeper. “, he said.
” I will do the cooking ”
“I eat lunch and dinner out and I can sort out my own breakfast.”, he stated.
” With cereals or cookies. With bread, toast or tea.? You shouldn’t eat out. It is not good. I will prepare home made food for you”, Harriet told him.
“You have a point. Will you really do the cooking?”, he asked.
” Yes.”, Harriet replied.
“Okay. Let’s see. Do not trespas-s. Do not climb that flight of stairs. Use the guest room downstairs.”
“Okay. Noted”, Harriet said.
He typed in his pas-scode and also tell her the code.
They entered the house. Harriet is so happy.
Then she remembered that she didn’t even know his name. “What’s your name?”, She asked.
He paused.
“Edmund”, he told her.
” Can I call you Ed?”, She asked.
“Suit yourself”,he told her.
Edward had run a background check on her and he found out that she is a rich heiress and a twin. He also found out she is close friends with Ray Dalton. He also knew she was abroad for a while.
” Miss Harriet”
“Just call me Harriet. After All, I’m your housemate.”
“Miss Harriet, can you prepare a quick night snacks?”, He asked.
Harriet yawned.
” It’s late. What do you want to use it for?”, she asked him.
“I still have to sort somethings out in the study”, he explained.
” Just do it the way you use to before I arrived. I’m so sleepy and I still nee-d to unpack”
She said and walk away leaving the man behind.
Edmund wondered why she wants to stay with him.
‘What is her purpose? ‘
Edmund woke up that morning and took his bath. He dressed up and walk downstairs.
He is already expecting his breakfast.
When is the last time he had a proper meal? Since he left home two years ago_except when his mother dropped by with some food for him.
He came down from the stairs and the smell that welcome him is…….
Suffocating! Yes, that is the world. His house is practically burning down.
How dare this woman.
Few minutes later.
“Didn’t you say you know how to Cook?”, he asked her.
” I could learn it you know”, Harriet stuttered.
“So you deceived me?”, he asked.
” I was desperate to stay in your house. I’m sorry for lying. I thought cooking is easy.”, Harriet said.
“Why did you want to stay in my house? Are you a spy or something? What is your purpose? Why are you stalking me. Do I have something you want?”, He asked.
” yes”, Harriet replied
“What is that?”, he asked her.
” Your heart”
Edmund laughed.
“Are you a vampire or something?”, he asked.
” I like you and I’m going to win your heart.”

(We can’t get married)
Jerome entered the office and saw Ray busy reading throu-ghsome doC-uments and the same time working on the computer.
“Sir, shall we sign The business contract with Constance group?”, Jerome asked.
” Do not have any thing to do with constance group. I’m not getting married to their daughter. I love someone else”.
“But, your dad…”
“You will obey me and not my dad.”, Ray told him. ” I’m the chairman of H&D group “, Ray added.
” I nee-d to talk to Ava…..”
Diiiiiiiiiiing diiiiiing
Ray picked the call.
“Mum”, he called immediately he picked the call.
” I’m at work…… You want me to cone home? Dinner?……. Ava is coming?….. Ok. I will be there…Sure”, And he dropped the call. ‘I will just use this opportunity to talk to Ava.’
“Jerome, I will leave work earlier today”
“Ok. Chairman”, Jerome said.
” Can you do me a favour?”, Ray asked him.
“What favour?”, Jerome asked.
“Can you send a banquet of roses to her?”, he asked.
” Sure chairman ”
“With a note”
Jerome nodded.
“Alright”
Ray smiled.
He will do anything to win her heart.
Ray did not like coming down to the ancestral mansion. He gave the car key to the valet and walk to the house. The door opened and he walk in. The Butler announced his presence.
“Oh! Ray is here.”, his mum said.
Ray walked to her and hu-g her. He gave his dad a bow and just nod at Ava.
” Hello, Ava”
“Hi”, Ava greeted with a sweet smile.
” I miss you “, She said.
” It’s been almost how many weeks that we’ve seem each other last. You’re always busy”, Ava told him. She wanted his parents to be aware.
“Yes, I was busy. I don’t even have time to tend to yourself”, Ray said.
” That’s not an excuse “, Ray father puts in. ” You should make time for your fiancee.”
Ray sat down.
“You wouldn’t want me to slack behind at the office, would you? Miss Ava will have to un-derstand”, Ray told her.
Ava smiled.
” Why are you not signing the contract with Constance Gallery. We have to do business together and…”
“I’ve said with PK gallery. The director is a good friend of mine”, Ray replied.
” Do more business with Constance group, Ray”, his father told him.
“Why should I?”, Ray asked.
” They are family”, Mr Dalton said.
“I agree with your father”, Ray mum said.
Ava smiled.
” You’re engaged to Ava. Buy a ring and propose to her….”, Ray cuts in.
“Are you talking to me? Does this matter even involves me. Why would you be the one to tell me to buy a ring and propose to her? Why should you be the one to tell me I’m engaged with her? When was that? I did not remember telling her to marry me.
Dad, I will get engaged to whosoever I liked and marry that person”, Ray said.
” You!”, his father exclaimed.
“Dad, stop this.”
“Ray, what has gotten into you?”, his mother asked.
Ray ignored her and turn to Ava.
” Follow me. Let’s talk”
Ava clenched her fist. She didn’t want to follow him but she did anyway.
“Who do you think you’re to tell me to come and go?”, She asked him.
” I told you that day at the park. I Said I don’t have a say anyway so why do I nee-d to think. All I will tell you is that I will never love you. I did not believe in love. I will do anything for you except to love you. If you’re still in, I don’t care. Marriage? We can do it.
I’m taking my words back. We can’t get married. Like I said before I will never love even though I now believe in love. I believe in a lot of things now. Fate, destiny, love. But my love is not meant for you. You will never own my heart”, Ray told her.
“Because you like that upcoming artiste? You believed in love a long time ago when you loved Harriet with all your heart”, Ava told him.
” You always believed in love”
Ray smiled.
“Maybe you’re right. A lot of people tend to tell lies by building policies for themselves.
Listen Ava, I did not only like Dorris, I loved her.
” So what should I do?”, Ava asked.
“Listen Ray, I will never give up. Not until I met a worthy rival. That wench can not stop me. I don’t even nee-d to deal with her myself. Someone will gladly teach her a lesson for me.
I want you Ray and I will do anything to have you. Nothing can stop me.
You love her? You will not be able to marry her.I don’t have to worry about her.
I won’t even allow a filthy thing like her to be your mistress.
Like you said before Ray, you have no say over this. I’m in charge. In as much as I insist in marrying you, I will. You know I have the means. The more you resist me, the more I will want you. You can not run away from me. You have to be my husband and I will be your wife. I’m your bright future Ray. You have to think before making choices. I have a lot to offer but that girl as none.
I can’t stand seeing that girl near you but I will let her enjoy it for a bit.”, Ava eyes is so scary as she is spouting those words.
” Ava, …”
“Ray you’re mine. I can’t stand loosing you to that girl. I know she is the bitc-h here. I know she is seducing you. Everything will be fine when she is gone. I will be able to have you all to myself.”
“Don’t touch her, Ava”, Ray told her sternly. He can take anything but no one can harm Dorris.
” I’ve told you that the more you resist, the more I want you. Besides, Why will I touch her when I have people to do it for me? Someone like your Dad?”, Ava asked.
Ray bits his li-ps.
“I won’t say anything to your dad about her on one condition. Go out with me frequently. Let’s see if I will be pleased and will leave the girl alone”, Ava told Ray.
Ray sigh.
” Ok. Let’s do that”, Ray said.
Ava smiled sweetly again.
“You have to obey me Ray”, She said.
” Let’s go in to eat dinner quietly”, She added.
Ray closed his eyes.
He will do anything for his dad to be oblivious of Dorris.
That’s the least he could do for her.
“You have to keep your promise Ava”, he told her.
” Of Course”
