Episode 40
Nelson’s POV
I don’t un-derstand what just happened. Why was Olivia staring at the President’s wife strangely and why wasn’t Olivia careful? What if something bad had happened to her?
“Olivia are you okay?” I asked when I finally got to her
“Y-Yes” she stuttered.
“Is something wrong?”
“I just felt like I’ve known that woman before now, I felt some kind of connection with her. I know it sounds ridiculous but I felt strangely comfortable and warm when she tou-ched me.” she explained confusing me
“What are you talking about? You’ve not even being to Korea before so where did you know her from?”
“I’m as confused as you her but it felt like that was were I belonged. Let’s forget about that, it’s late already so let’s go home.” Olivia said walking away
We bade each other farewell and went on our separate ways.
#Fast forward to the day of the contest#
Olivia’s POV
I’m nervous as hell right now, I can’t believe the contest is finally starting today.
It’s going to last for a week due to the fact they are trying to speed things up and I heard there are about 800 contestants, that alone is more than enough to make me nervous.
I freshened up and wore my clothes. The practical aspect will take place in two days time.
For now, they’re just going to focus on the theorjcal aspect. I know I’ve read and practiced a lot but I’m still scared.
Most of the contestants are Koreans, just few are aliens like me.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you are all welcome to this glorious event. As you all know, you are going to be a-ssessed and the best 50 among you will be chosen to become K-Pop idols so I suggest you put in your best. Thank you” the man that spoke concluded and left the stage.
I’m guessing he’s the MC. He spoke Korean while someone interpreted it in English.
“The questions will be distributed to you now. If you have anything that can implicate you, kindly drop it outside before it’s too late.
“Here in Korea, we don’t condone cheating from anyone so if you don’t want your name to be all over the internet as a cheat, don’t bring in any chip or any other thing. Good luck”
After that was said, some people went outside to drop the things with them. So they planned to cheat?
Few minutes later, our questions were in front of us and it was 100 questions just like I practiced with Nelson.
“You have just 40 minutes to answer those hundred questions and your time starts…… NOW” one of the coordinators said.
“Don’t turn your head, just focus on the questions in front of you and you’ll be throu-ghbefore you know it”
I focused on the questions and I was done within 25 minutes.
I wanted to raise my head to see if anyone is also done but I remembered we’re not to look at anywhere except our question so I just focused on it, I wouldn’t want Nelson’s money to go to waste.
Twenty-five minutes isn’t much so I guess I will just go throu-ghmy work.
“Time up. I don’t want to see anyone writing anything” the coordinator said.
*After some minutes*
“Sorry for the delay. The result will be out tomorrow and some of you will be out of the contest, you should know that is inevitable.
The rest of you that will be lucky enough to make it will do a final written exam where some people will still be removed before we finally start the practical aspect that is going to go on for 3 days without break”
“You can go back to your respective rooms now” the coordinator concluded.
Ahh finally, I can leave this hall and spend the rest of the day with Nelson.
I was about leaving when I caught a glimpse of Stephanie. Huh? Don’t tell me she’s among the contestants.
I hid my face when I noticed she had almost gotten to where I was standing.
I can’t risk her seeing me because she’s now the President’s daughter and since she hates me, she could just throw me out of the contest with a snap of her fingers.
I went outside in search of Nelson and after looking around for a while, I sp-otted him in the midst of people.
Uhh! I almost forgot my boyfriend is a celebrity.
“Ohh… here she comes” Nelson said when I almost got to them
Is he referring to me?
“She’s the one that has stolen my heart, her name is Olivia. We will like to be on our way now” Nelson said
Before we left, most of them took pictures of me.
I and Nelson kept walking until we got to a quiet place and I stopped walking.
“What’s wrong?” Nelson asked
“Everything. What is the meaning of what you just did?” I asked folding my hands
“It’s high time we make our relationship public”
“I never said we won’t make it public but you should have talked to me about it first”
“I’m sorry okay?”
“Your sorry won’t change anything. People will start respecting me and some will even try to harm me.”
“Do you think I will sit down and allow anyone to harm you? You should trust your boyfriend”
“I’ve heard you. I want to rest now, I’m really tired.”
“So you can’t rest in the hotel I lodge?”
“No, I want to rest in the hostel given to the contestants. ”
“Olivia please……. ” Nelson drawed giving me his irresistible puppy face.
“Fine but I want to rest so don’t even think about doing anything Nau-ghty”
“Yes Your Highness” Nelson said winking at me.
Why do I have a feeling he has something in sto-re for me?
Park Min Shin’s POV
I went to the hostel for the contestants when I was sure they would be throu-gh. I found out Olivia is one of the contestants so I’m here to see her.
I asked after her from her room mates and I was told she wasn’t in. Where could she be?
I hadn’t gone too far when I heard some people screaming Olivia and Nelson’s name. I wore my shades and walked up to them.
“Good day. Please can I see a picture of the Olivia you’re talking about?”
“Yes ma’am” one of them replied and show me the picture. I checked it and discovered it was the same Olivia I was looking for.
“Please do you know where she is?”
“Not really but we saw her few minutes ago with Nelson, she’s actually his girlfriend. Maybe you should check up on them in Diamonds hotel. That’s where Nelson lodged”
“Okay. Thank you” I said to them and drove to the hotel.
Few minutes later, Nelson and Olivia came down after the receptionist called to inform them they had a visitor.
Due to the shade I was using, they didn’t know who I was.
“Let’s go to my car” I said to them.
Nelson kept staring at me in a way that shows he doesn’t trust me. When we got to the car, I took the gla-sses off and they were really surprised.
“We’re sorry ma’am, we didn’t know you were the one” Olivia said on behalf of both of them.
“It’s okay. I want to go out with Olivia for some time, can I?” I said facing Nelson
“Okay but nothing must happen to her” Nelson said sternly
“I a-ssure you nothing will happen to her”
“Alright then”
They hug-ged each other and Nelson pec-ked Olivia after that.
“Let’s get going ma’am” Olivia said after Nelson left
“Okay dear” I replied and left the hotel with her.
I have to know why I felt that way when I tou-ched her.
OLIVIA
Episode 41
Olivia’s POV
Nelson was about kis-sing me when we were informed that someone wants to see us, I specifically.
We got downstairs and discovered it was a woman wearing dark shades. She asked us to follow her and when we got to her car, we found out she was the President’s wife.
I quickly apologised to her and bowed my head in respect. She then asked me to go out with her, I wonder what she wants from me.
After few minutes of driving, we arrived at our destination. It was a really cla-ssy hotel, what was I even expecting? She’s the First Lady of South Korea.
“So what would you like to take?” she asked after we sat down at a table
“I’m okay ma” I said politely
“No, you have to take something even if it’s just a drink”
“You really don’t have to worry ma’am, I’m fine”
“Waiter! Waiter!! ” she called
“Get us two orange juice”
I should have known she won’t listen. Few minutes later the waiter brou-ght the drink.
“Thanks ma’am”
“So you’re among the K-Pop contestants?”
“Yes ma’am”
“Are you Korean?”
“No, I’m from England”
“Why do you look like a Korean girl then?”
“I don’t know too, I’ve always been like this”
“Have you ever been to Korea?”
“No ma’am”
“But I have a feeling I’ve known you for a long time”
“I feel the same way but I haven’t even been to Korea before”
“Okay. I have an appointment now and I’m even late already. Here, have my card. You can give me a call anytime you’re free so that I can know more about you” she said walking up to me with the card.
When she got close and was about giving me the card, a waiter mistakenly hit her hand and she loosed her balance and fell on me pulling the shoulder of my dress down a bit.
“I’m sorry ma’am, please don’t report me. It was a mistake” the waiter pleaded almost going down on her knees
She doesn’t even know she’s the First Lady and she’s pleading like this, what if she knew?
“It’s okay” the First Lady said
“Thanks ma’am” the waiter said and left
“Let me help you with your dress, the shoulder is opened” the First lady said walking closer
After waiting for a while, I looked back at her when I didn’t feel her adjusting the clothes.
“What’s wrong ma’am?” I asked her
“W-where did you see this mark?” she asked stuttering
Oh shit! How could I have forgotten something so vital? Mom has warned me several times to make sure no one sees the mark on my shoulder and that’s why I don’t wear off-shouldered gown or top.
What do I say now? I will just tell her the truth because I don’t think she can harm me.
“It has been there right from birth ma’am”
“R–ight from birth?” she asked
“Yes”
“O–kay, I… I have to go now. Don’t forget to give me a call” she said and left
Why did she act like that when she saw the birth mark? I can’t stress my brain now because I’m having another exam tomorrow. I hope I’m among the contestants that are going to be chosen.
Nelson’s POV
I waited and waited before Olivia finally came back.
“Why did you take too long before returning?” I asked immediately she got to where I stood
“You didn’t even welcome me or ask me how it went. How many minutes did I even spend there?”
“Okay I’m sorry. How did it go and what did you guys talk about?”
“It went well. She only wanted to know more about me”
“Why?”
“She also felt some kind of connection with me.”
“Really? Did you guys now find out why you have a strange connection?”
“No but…. Nevermind”
“Complete what you wanted to say”
“It’s nothing. Let’s go in” she said turning to go inside
“Since when did you start hiding things from me?” I said pulling her back
“I…. I…. I’m not hiding anything” she stammered
“Olivia….. Okay should I also start keeping things from you?” I asked and she shook her head
“So tell me what you wanted to say”
“She acted strangely when she saw the birth mark on my shoulder”
“You have a birth mark?”
“Yes, that’s why I don’t wear off-shouldered clothes. My Mom said I shouldn’t let anyone see it but I don’t know why she said that”
“How did she react when she saw it?”
“She paused and stared at it for a long time until I spoke up”
“Okay, let’s go in” I said to her and we went in.
Something is definitely fishy. I’ve been having that thought ever since she came to pick Olivia.
Apart from being the First Lady, she’s a really busy person so how can she leave all the things she have to do just to be with Olivia?
I have to make my own findings too.
Park Min Shin’s POV
I think I’m going to cancel that appointment because I won’t be able to concentrate.
Is the birth mark a coincidence or what? I mean, it looks just exactly like the one on Min Jin’s shoulder when she was a baby.
I will have to check Stephanie’s shoulder today unfailingly. What if she has been deceiving us all this while?
No, that’s not possible. She didn’t even know when the DNA test was conducted on her. We made sure of that to avoid imposters.
“Welcome home Mom” Stephanie greeted when I got home
“Thanks darling”
“I thought you said you had an appointment?”
“Yes but I cancelled it” I replied tiredly. My mind is still unsettled from what I saw
“Why?!!” she asked surprised
“I’m not feeling too well”
“What happened to you? Is it headache, malaria…” she said rushing to me wanting to continue but I stopped her
“It’s just a slight headache, I will be fine after I rest”
“Okay Mom. Should I help you to your room?”
“Yes but before that, do you know the hospital that carried out a DNA test on you?” I asked my eyes not leaving her.
“H-Hospital?” she stuttered
Okay, why is she stuttering?
“I.. I don’t know Mom”
“Are you sure you are alright?” I asked worriedly
“I’m fine Mom, just tired from the practice”
“Sorry about that, make sure you take drugs”
“Okay Mom” she said and turned around heading to her room.
“Wait! I want to check something” I said walking up to her
“What’s that?”
“Your shoulder. I will be really quick”
“Mom you can check that some other time, I really need to rest”
“No, it has to be now, like right now” I said but she still turned around headed for her room.
I walked up to her as fast as I could and pulled down the shoulders of the cloth. I checked the two sides but there was no birthmark.
What’s happening? I remember vividly that Min Jin had a mark on her shoulder just like the one on Olivia’s shoulder so why doesn’t Stephanie has the birthmark?
“What did you wanted to check Mom?” Stephanie asked snapping me out of my confused state.
“It’s nothing” I quickly replied so she won’t start suspecting anything.
This means she isn’t my daughter but how did this happen? Did the mark fade away? I think I need to conduct another DNA test and thankfully I’m also a doctor myself.
“Sorry about that Stephanie. Turn around so I can adjust your clothes properly. When she turned, I quickly used that opportunity to remove some strands of her hair before properly adjusting the dress.
“You can go to your room now” I said smiling at her.
Now I can finally find out what’s wrong.
