JOSHUA’S POV CONTINUES
what gave her the right to make me feel like someone who was regretting his actions.
falling in love wasn’t my crime, falling for the wrong person was my offense…. and that moment I hated Tommy even more, if only he had not gone to the state to study, if only he did not and forget about me….. I wouldn’t be feeling so much pain right now…. for years I tried to get hold of him, did he even try at all to find me?.
I kept my pains bottled in for weeks and hide myself from the world but Sonia wouldn’t let me rest….always knocking my door with different kind of reasons just to see me.
I suddenly stopped crying and moved away from her slowly….
SONIA
From the look in your eyes, it’s obvious you are feeling better….. I will come back later once you finish with your food.
she said and turn to walk away, her attitude was pissing me off, why was she acting all nice and caring? oh now I get, because I’m emotionally down, she thinks she can se-duce me into sleeping with her.
I got up from my bed and grabbed her quickly
JOSHUA
what do you think you are doing?
SONIA
(She looks surprised)
I’m going downstairs of course
JOSHUA
Don’t act dumb with me young lady……I’m not asking you where you are going to, I’m asking what you think you are doing.
SONIA
I would really love to give you answers to your questions but I honestly don’t un-derstand what you are asking me
JOSHUA
why are you treating me like a child who doesn’t know what his doing? how dare you try to belittle me?
( I yelled at her)
But she remain calm, she didn’t even look shock, she kept smiling and that angered me even more
SONIA
I un-derstand that you are hurt and you are looking for who to vent on….. I give you permission to vent all your anger on me, I promise not to get mad at you or even hold grudges
JOSHUA
GET OUT OF MY ROOM???????
(I yelled and she left)
I angrily threw away the tray of food she brou-ght and went back to my bed to seat down…. how dare her, how dare her think I need her permission to vent my anger?
JACK’S POV
I have been standing outside JJ’s door for some minutes and I could boldly say I heard everything that happened there from the beginning to the end… . I was really happy Sonia could make JJ cry, at least crying sometimes help us release grieve.
I could also see that my good friend was trying so ha-rd not to be be caught.
I wanted to leave the door so sonai wouldn’t see me standing there but I wasn’t fast enough so she caught me.
SONIA
what are you doing?
JACK
Me? nothing, I was just going in to see JJ… is he inside?
SONIA
of course, he is in his room…. please excuse me.
she said and started to go downstairs, I wasn’t in the mood to see JJ anymore, maybe not at that moment.
JACK
can you excuse me for a moment?
SONIA
Alright, are you hungry? let’s go downstairs so I can fix you something to eat.
JACK
that can wait…. let’s talk in the garden outside
I led the way and she followed me, we went to the garden and sat down on the empty chairs that are there.
SONIA
we are here now, what is it you wanted to discuss with me?
JACK
before I start can I ask you a few questions??
SONIA
sure, you can ask me anything
JACK
tell me Sonia, why didn’t you get angry earlier?
SONIA
angry? who should I be angry with? JJ? but he didn’t do wrong by me.
JACK
“I give you permission to vent your anger on me”? who taught you a line as beautiful as that? I could tell you really bruised Joshua’s ego.
SONIA
I didn’t mean to do that, and as for what taught me a line like that, it was obvious he was angry at something but didn’t know how to express his anger so I just told him to vent them in me.
JACK
you see JJ his a very kind man, but non of his staffs are bold enough to look him in the eyes….you see how close Amanda is with the boss? she has her limit with him…. but with you, I feel you can go all the way down and that is why I want you to be the one to do this.
SONIA
can you go straight to the point? what do you want me to do ?
JACK
make him fall in love with you.
SONIA
(Shocked)
what? are you crazy? where did that even come from?
JACK
yes I’m crazy, but please do this for us…. you can tolerate him, you know what to say to calm him down, you also know what to say to make him angry…. make him fall for you.
SONIA
jack you really think highly of me, I’m not good enough for your boss, beside why not ask Amanda to do this, she’s beautiful, she’s cla-ssy and very rich…. please take a look at me again, I’m a nobody, I’m just a maid who hasn’t worked here for two months…. no background at all and you think JJ would just fall for me?
JACK
I’m not promising you that it would be easy, but I believe you can achieve this, I believe you are the miracle he needs in his life … you talk about cla-ss, didn’t JJ see how cla-ssy Amanda is before he still went ahead to date a man? all those stuff doesn’t matter to JJ…. please Sonia, do this for us.
SONIA
I’m sorry but I can’t, I can’t put myself, my innocence and my peace of mind on the line for just anyone…. you want me to make him fall in love, who would make me fall in love with him? or once his in love with me I should end it with him and run away? what good would that be doing him?
JACK
but
SONIA
no matter what you say, I won’t change my mind….I can’t and won’t do it.
She said and left before I would even get the chance to say something else.
SONIA’S POV
jack must really see me as a gold digger that is why he thought I would jump at his stupid idea of making Joshua fall in love with me.
Maybe he should go tell Amanda to come help him out, because I refuse to put my innocence and heart on the line playing a fake that might ruin me forever.
For days jack kept coming over and each time he did, he would beg me to accept his offer, he even promise to pay me….
He should have said that earlier, if he had told me he would pay me I would have accepted immediately…. like I told my father, I’m going to work really ha-rd that my children wouldn’t have to ask me where I was when my mates were making money…..
Collecting money from Jack would mean this is a business deal that won’t be taken for granted and I had no right to start catching feelings.
Jack paid me half of the money, and promise to give me the rest once JJ admit his feelings for me.

SONIA’S POV
Jack had already given me some cash, so I didn’t see any reason why I shouldn’t start the contract…. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but the money was my motivation, after the deal I might just quit the job and go start up something with the money.
I waited till in the evening when I prepared dinner and took to his room, I was surprised to see the mess he had created with the food I brou-ght earlier.
SONIA
if you didn’t want to eat, you should have just said so instead of causing a mess with it.
JOSHUA
the food is mine, the house is mine and you ain’t working for free, if you don’t want you can just quit.
SONIA
oh wow, the boss has spoken… well where did that got you? it got you stock here in this house with me.
I could see the fire burning throu-ghhis eyes, he got up from the bed and moved to where I stood.
JOSHUA
Did you just talk back at me?
SONIA
(I stare at him eye ball to eye ball)
I work for you JJ, but I don’t want you to think for a second that I fear you….I do not fear you at all.
JOSHUA
(He was shocked)
get out of my room this minutes
SONIA
I’m not leaving unless you eat this food and I mean it…..
Before I could even say anything he brou-ght his hands to grab me I quickly step back
SONIA
you are lucky today isn’t that day that I kill people when I’m angry, you would have been dead by now for attempting to hit me.
I moved back to see if my word got to him, and of course yes, I could swear I saw fright in his eyes….
JOSHUA
what did you just say?
SONIA
I’m a very special child you know, and people don’t touch me with evil intention, once you do, you die…. you are lucky I moved back, if your hand had tou-ched me, maybe by now you will be saying Hi to your dead friends in heaven…..that’s I’d you will even get there.
instead of saying a word, he just walked out….i took in a de-eper breathe, did I push him too hard? what if he had hit me because of the way I push him.
I cleaned up the mess he made and went inside my room, I took my bathe and slept immediately.
the next morning I went to his door with another breakfast in my hand, I knocked at the door but he didn’t answer, I knocked again but there was no response…I tried to push the door but it was locked from inside.
So I dropped the food outside his door and walked away…. luckily I met jack downstairs.
JACK
what’s that look I see on your face? don’t tell me you are giving up already.
SONIA
yes, you are right, I’m getting tired of all this….did you know he almost hit me last night?
JACK
he what? what has gotten into JJ?
SONIA
if you ask me who will I ask? beating was not part of our deal… so if he tries that ru-bbish next time, the deal is off and you are going to pay me every penny you owe me for damage.
JACK
calm down Sonia, I’m sure it wouldn’t get to that….. I guess you must have pushed him too ha-rd that he had to react that way.
SONIA
Pushed him too hard? haven’t you been pushed by your woman before? did you ever lift a finger to hit her? there’s no limit to a man’s tolerance and endurance when it comes to a woman.
JACK
You are obviously angry down, can you just calm down Sonia?
I took in a de-eper breath three times before I took my seat.
JACK
how do you feel now?
SONIA
I’m fine and I’m sorry for yelling.
JACK
I un-derstand you were scared that he tried to hit you, but I promise you JJ is not the type that hits a woman…. he would never hit a woman no matter what.
Well in some way he was right, not like he lifted his hand to hit me, but the way he rushed me I was very sure the grabbing would have been painful….. it’s time like this I need a friend to talk to and I don’t even have a phone to talk with mercy.
JACK
I will go upstairs to speak with him…. so please calm down
SONIA
you are going to talk to him about what? I think you should just let it go….. I think I went to ha-rd on him.
JACK
exactly what I said, you used a wrong approach, maybe you should use something else and please don’t give up on him.
SONIA
I will try my best…. please excuse me
I said and went into the kitchen to finish my work.
JOSHUA’S POV
so Sonia is a witch? no wonder whenever she told me to go out there and win i always get one contract or the other…. so this was the secret?
Why did she suddenly turn mean if I may ask? she was so kind to me this past weeks that it was starting to irritate me but suddenly she changed…. why is it even bordering me that she had changed? I thought that was what I wanted?
I heard a knock on my door again but I didn’t border to answer it, I was not in the mood to see her, last night she almost made me do what I promised my mother never to do and that is hitting a woman.
She pushed me so ha-rd with her word that I almost lost my senses.
JACK
it’s me jack, please open the door.
I got up and opened the door for him
JOSHUA
what are you doing here?
(I asked going back to my bed)
JACK
I work here remember?
JOSHUA
oh yeah, I remember…. so what brou-ght you to my room.
JACK
I came to check if you are okay
JOSHUA
why is everyone treating me like an imbecile or like a child who doesn’t know from his left to his right
JACK
you are just being paranoid boss, no one is treating you like an imbecile, we are asking if you are okay because we care about you…. your happiness is ours too and whenever you are sad…. you don’t expect us to be happy.
JOSHUA
I’m sorry If I sounded like a je-rk
JACK
you should keep that sorry for Sonia, she is terrified, she said you almost hit her last night.
I was just thinking about the stuff before he came in, I couldn’t believe I almost did that…
JOSHUA
I didn’t mean to do that, I was just angry
JACK
isn’t it high time you let go of that anger? you are angry we get it, what can’t you see what that anger is causing you? the JJ I know, the JJ I have worked with for years would never say any harsh to any body, let alon lifting his hand to hit a woman…. I don’t know this man anymore.
He said and got up to go, he turn to look at me and said
JACK
Your company is crumbling, you should go out there and Savage what is left before it’s too late.
He said and left my room , I opened my mouth to say something but no word came out from my mouth.
