EPISODE 21
JOSHUA’S POV
I gave what jack said a de-eper thought and decided to move on with my life, who even thought I would survive without Tommy my first love? it’s been more than six years now and I’m still alive and going…. break ups is part of what makes us stronger and I wouldn’t find another soul mate If I get myself locked up in my room every day.
I waited for Sonia to bring my lunch but she didn’t show up, I guess she was still mad at me for trying to hit her last night and for rejecting her food in the morning
Around 6pm jack came into my room to inform me he was closing for the day and was about leaving.
JOSHUA
thank you jack, your word today was all I needed to come back to my senses
JACK
you are more than a boss to me, and I’m glad my word was enough for you.
JOSHUA
it was and I’m really grateful for it.
JACK
it’s okay boss … I should be on my way now
JOSHUA
all right, say me hi to your girlfriend
JACK
sure I will….goodnight sir.
I wave at him and watched him walked out of my room, immediately he left I dropped my laptop from my lap and went into the bathroom…. I was shocked to see how really unkempt I looked in the mirror…. even someone who had spent two years in the prison wouldn’t be looking like that.
I finished shaving my bears, I took a cold bath before I came inside to dress.
I felt really room, it seem like the water washed away my stress and craziness….
I wore something simple, a short and a turtle ne-ck long sleeve shirt and went downstairs to eat my dinner…. it was already 7pm.
I didn’t see Sonia in the living room so I was guessing she’s in the kitchen, I went into the kitchen but she wasn’t there either, but it was obvious she just left there because the aroma of what she cooked was still fresh in the kitchen.
“where could she have gone to”? did she go outside to give the securities guys some food or what”?
This were questions that I was asking myself but couldn’t answer them.
I walked to the window to check, but I didn’t see her standing with Bobo outside so I decided to go check her in her room.
I would never get use to the idea that I’m living with a woman, back then when jack use to live here would me I would just bathe into his room without knocking…. and if didn’t seem awkward because we were both boys.
For a long minutes I forget I was living with a full grown a*s woman who wouldn’t hesitate to call me a pervert if I barge in on her or so I thought.
I went to her door and without knocking I pushed her door open, only for her to be coming out from the bathroom na-ked.
JOSHUA
I’m sorry, I’m sorry I didn’t know you were na-ked.
SONIA
(She grabbed a towel quickly)
it’s okay, in your eyes I’m just like your fellow man, unless if you want to tell me you have suddenly turn straight or bis-exual overnight.
I was surprised, other girls would freak out, they will even call me crazy and yell at me to leave their room but she was so calm, her calmness was annoying…. wait was I right when it crossed my mind that she’s doing everything possible to have me sleep with her?
I didn’t come for trouble, I only came to apologize for what happened yesterday not to pick another fight with her.
SONIA
you wanted to see me? because that’s the only explanation why you are standing here right now in my room, staring at my half na-ked body.
JOSHUA
I came to discuss something with you, but I will be waiting downstairs.
SONIA
okay JJ.
She turn back and started to look for what to wear in her wardrobe…. I just turned my back and walked out immediately.
Few minutes later she came out wearing a night rope that was low beneath the knees, it was red and very s-exy, I could swear she was wearing a perfume too because she smiled so nice.
SONIA
you wanted to see my boss
JOSHUA
yes, I wanted to see you, are you wearing a perfume?
SONIA
oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t know it was a crime for me to wear one.
JOSHUA
I didn’t say it’s a crime, I only asked if you are wearing a perfume…. I was going to day it smells nice on you.
SONIA
oh, thank you…. yeah it was a present I got from jack.
I was surprised, jack got her a perfume as a present? hope is not what I’m thinking, hope jack is not planning on cheating on his girlfriend this girl?
SONIA
back to earth sir…
(she said and snapped her finger)
JOSHUA
I’m sorry, you said what?
SONIA
nothing, you wanted to see me earlier, I’m here now
JOSHUA
it’s nothing serious, I was just going to apologise for last night…. I’m sorry I lady out on you.
SONIA
that’s okay, I’m sorry for pushing you too ha-rd too…. and I’m sorry for threatening you, I’m not a witch okay, I only said that to scare you and save myself from beating.
JOSHUA
(I couldn’t help but chuckled)
you lied to save your a*s?
SONIA
no ooh, I should have waited until you slap me…. I see you have shaved, you are now looking like the man I met few months ago.
JOSHUA
Really?
SONIA
yeah…. dinner is ready, I’m sure you will like to eat something now?
JOSHUA
of course, I’m starving.
She excused herself and went into the kitchen to get some food, I don’t know why but I turn immediately she had her back on me, maybe I was curious and wanted to see what she look like from behind…. she really got a big a*s if I must say.
Well it doesn’t concern me, I went to the dinning to wait for my food…. she came back few minutes later with just my food and turn to walk away.
JOSHUA
this dinning is big enough to carry us both, why do you want to go eat somewhere else?
SONIA
because you are the boss
JOSHUA
spell me all that and bring your food down here….. right now.
SONIA
are you sure you ain’t going to regret this?
JOSHUA
well, if you ain’t serving me to your gods, I don’t think I have any reasons to be scared of.
SONIA
(she smiled)
I will go get my food.
She went back to the kitchen and came back seconds later to bring her own food…. she sat down and said a little prayer before she started eating.
indeed she was right when she asked me if I wouldn’t regret asking her to eat on the same table with me… I regretted it, the perfume she was wearing was really nice, in fact too nice that it began to make me miss Anderson all over again.

SONIA POV
After dinner I cleared the dishes and decided to go into my room to sleep, as I headed for the stairs Joshua called me back.
JOSHUA
Your salary was due yesterday right?
I totally forget about it self, I didn’t even remember that it was month ending and I’m supposed to be paid.
SONIA
I forgot
(I said smiling)
JOSHUA
Do you have an account now?
SONIA
yes sir, sometimes last week I followed jack to the bank and he helped me opened an account
JOSHUA
that’s good then, send me your details I will make transfer tomorrow morning.
SONIA
thank you sir, but I don’t even have a phone to use in texting you.
JOSHUA
how then do you receive alert? or which number did you put when registering your account?
SONIA
I used jack’s number, any money sent to me, jack would be the one to receive the alert.
JOSHUA
that is crazy, well no problem, call out your details.
(he said carrying his phone)
I called out my details and he pressed some things on his phone, after a while he looked up at me.
JOSHUA
done… you can ask your manager tomorrow if he saw the money.
Before he could even finish his last statement the house telephone started to ring so I waited for Joshua to go answer it
JOSHUA
you should go answer it, I’m not in the mood to answer any call.
I slowly walked to the telephone and answered it, it was jack on the line
JACK
how are you Sonia?
SONIA
I’m fine….how are you?
JACK
fine too…. JJ just sent some money into your account … I don’t know why you won’t buy phone eeh, how much is phone? even if it’s just small one,buy it and rest.
SONIA
I have plans to get one this weekend, so calm down and stop scolding me too much
JACK
congratulations in advance then.
SONIA
Thank you
(I said chuckling)
JACK
Is JJ there?
SONIA
yeah
JACK
Did he eat dinner?
SONIA
yeah
JACK
how far with what we discussed? sorry I was going to ask if he apologized for last night
SONIA
yes, he did.
JACK
I knew it, I just knew it….. JJ is not an arrogant person, I know he will definitely say his sorry.
SONIA
I hear you sir… let’s talk when we see tomorrow, I’m tired and sleepy… goodnight
JACK
goodnight Sonia.
I dropped the phone and walked back to where JJ was seating.
JOSHUA
who was on the line?
SONIA
oh, that was jack…. he said he had seen the alert…..thank you
JOSHUA
you welcome…. I’m going to bed, goodnight.
He got up and walked away, I turn off the TV and followed him inside.
The next morning I woke up and started preparing breakfast, I didn’t know he would even go to work, because he didn’t tell me the previous night.
after breakfast he left before jack arrive, jack and I discussed for some minutes before he drove to the office to meet with Joshua.
JOSHUA’S POV
I got to the office and immediately called for an emergency meeting, my staffs hated the fact that I am a ga-y that they couldn’t hide it… they were whispering among themselves and it was annoying… main reason I called for the meeting.
JOSHUA
I have been away for a month now, and coming back I noticed some faces have already left the establishment…. can anyone tell me why they left without my consent?
I waited for a response from all the faces that stare at me but no one spoke to me directly, they started murmuring among themselves again.
JOSHUA
Mr bola, it seem like you have something to say, so please stand up and enlighten us.
MR BOLA
me? no sir, I don’t have anything to say
I smiled and adjusted my eye gla-ss, I dropped the pen in my hand and looked up at them.
JOSHUA
tell me Mrs Sarah, when did you first had your first child? I mean at what age?
MRS SARAH
at 16 sir
(she said feeling embarra-ssed)
JOSHUA
And I guess at that age your parents threw you out on the street like an outcast isn’t it?
MRS SARAH
No sir, though my dad was angry for a while because his dreams for me was big, but after some time he decided to let it go.
JOSHUA
oh, that’s nice….. what about you Mr bola, who is Lucy? because I’m very sure that’s not the name of your wife…. you are the only child of your parents so you can’t suddenly tell us all here that your mother gave birth to a daughter overnight…. which means you are cheating on your wife…. I know all your secret but I kept it safe and have never judge any of you with it, but you think it’s fair to judge me with my own sin ? for what? because I’m Jesus Christ who was not supposed to sin? some of you resigned from where you get money to feed your love ones because of my life style…. who gave you the right to judge me? well, I called this meeting to tell you all, there’s still room for whosoever that want to quit…. is either you leave my company or focus on why you are here and leave my matter off your li-ps… before the close of work, I will be expecting a lot if resignation letter on my desk….
I saw guilt, shame and remorse written all over their faces, I didn’t say no more I got up and went into my office… not long Mr Coker started to called me.
We spoke about the contract he gave me, he asked me if there was ant progress already but I told him we haven’t started work on it…. he reminded me about our agreement and ended the call…. he was professional, he didn’t take the contract away from me because of my secy status….. even in the middle of the conversation when I try to apologise for the scandal that i might have caused with my coming out as a ga-y news….he said
MR COKER
I’m a professional business man, I don’t mix business and plea-sure and I don’t judge people because it’s not my place to do so …..just do the job I paid you for and we won’t haeb any issue
he said before dropping his call….. the rest of the day was uneventful.
I closed from work and decided to stop at a phone shop to get Sonia a small phone… she’s so naive that she didn’t know she has put herself at a bigger risk by allowing other people to know how much that is coming and out of her account.
I got her Tecno camon 12 pro, it’s not that expensive but it was worth something….. I stopped at my favorite joint where I usually eat some pepper soup any time I’m feeling light spirited.
The lady was so happy to see me, I was sure she equally saw the news about me on TV, but she didn’t care, she was happy I finally came to visit her bar.
I ordered for seven plates of pepper soup because that was to total number of us staying at home…. she brou-ght my order, I paid and left.
