EPISODE 45
JACK’S POV
Bella and I started dating almost immediately we left the hospital….I know I should have come out clean to tell Sonia about it, after all she’s the reason why I met Bella in the first place.
But I just couldn’t bring myself in telling her, maybe because I suspected she has feelings for me or something…. Bella wasn’t happy that she had to keep our relationship a secret from her friend but I pleaded with her to un-derstand and not tell Sonia about it yet.
I guess Sonia noticed, because I couldn’t stop showing Bella how much I care about her and how she drives me cr*zy
my relationship with Sonia was like that of two bestie, but gradually I watched that friendship faded away without even realizing it.
The previous day I met her at Bella’s place, I wasn’t expecting to meet her there and Bella didn’t even call me to tell me she was at her house.
I acted all cool and gisted with them the best way I could…. I got a call that my attention was needed at the office so I had to go back to work.
It was later after work that I drove back to Bella’s place to spend a night since she wasn’t on night duty.
After we had both showered and retired to bed, we talked about so many stuff, that she suddenly remembered what happened ealier.
BELLA
you told me Sonia is your best friend right?
JACK
yeah, she is….. is anything the matter baby?
(I asked her kis-sed her head)
BELLA
did you guys dated or ever had se-x before?
I choked on my saliva and immediately started coughing, I lifted her head from my che-st so I could see her face clearly and really she wasn’t smiling at all.
JACK
why would you even think that babe?
BELLA
I always hear that besties to sleep with each other but they actually have their separate relationship….is that what we are doing right now? you are dating me but can’t tell Sonia because you are scared she might get hurt because you have been sleeping with her?
JACK
Jesus Christ, bella, where did all this silly ideas come from? I have never slept with Sonia… well, we kis-sed once but that was because I was drunk and she didn’t let anything happen….. we are besties but no benefit of such is attached to it.
BELLA
You kis-sed her? why would you kis-s someone that isn’t your girlfriend?
JACK
(I smiled)
are you feeling jealous right now?
BELLA
it’s not funny and I’m not jealous.
(she said and frowned her face)
JACK
hey, hey babe….I promise I do not have any feelings for Sonia, and I’m sure she doesn’t too….i just feel we should take things slow before we tell them anything….even JJ doesn’t know we are dating yet
BELLA
slow you say? are you ashamed of me? I’m I not worth it? I mean I’m not good enough to be your woman?
JACK
I dated joy for three years and JJ never met her for once…. so calm down babe, I’m not hiding you because I’m ashamed of you.
BELLA
talk JJ was on the phone with Sonia, the way they spoke and laughed on the phone you will think they are dating…. when I try to ask Sonia if she has started dating JJ…she told me to my face “mind your business”….. I am sure she knows we are dating and it’s paining her that we are keeping it away from her…. I love Sonia like a sister…if I’m doing anything that is hurting her, I will like to know please.
JACK
babe, you know what? I think it’s best I let her know now …by tomorrow I will go over and talk to her… let’s even go together.
BELLA
really? you will tell her? oh God you don’t know how happy that would make me…..and if she saus she doesn’t approve of us dating I’m going to leave you immediately.
JACK
that’s a joke right?
(I asked smiling)
BELLA
did you see me smiling? I’m serious
JACK
you can’t do that to me, you want my world to collap-se?
BELLA
it won’t joor….but babe you know I’m going to work tomorrow, so I won’t be able to go with you….
JACK
yeah, that’s true….all right don’t worry I will go there alone and have a talk with her.
The next day I would have gone early but I had to run some errands for JJ before going to see her.
JJ wasn’t looking bright, I tried to find out what the problem was but he kept insisting that he was fine.
I finished with what he needed me to do, then I took permission and went home…. I called Sonia on my way to the house to be sure she was around.
She sounded so cold on the phone that made me to wonder if she was m*d at me or something…
I got to the house and parked my car at the garage, I greeted all the securities before going inside….. she was in the living room eating.
JACK

SONIA
which one is soso again?
JACK
it’s a new nickname I just invented for you.
SONIA
(She smiled)
you are not serious…. do you care for food?
JACK
of course, I’m starving.
SONIA
I will get you some….wait here.
JACK
why wait when I can start eating your own
SONIA
don’t touch my food oh
(she said smiling)
JACK
I missed this.
SONIA

(she stopped smiling)
JACK
this you…. I actually came here for us to talk…. what is going on between us Sonia… every day it seems like we are breaking apart…did I do anything to upset you?
She dropped her spoon and looked at me, I sat in a face I could see her face very clearly and listen to what she has to say.
SONIA
I know you are dating Bella, but the reason why you and her are hiding it from me is what I don’t un-derstand…. I thought you both are my friends….but I guess I thought wrong….I am the only one in the friendship, the two of you are just making a f**l out of me
JACK
why would you think like that? you know how much we love and care for you…. I’m sorry we had to hide it from you okay… I promise it wasn’t Bella’s fault, she wanted to tell you so badly but I told her to wait at the right time.
SONIA
And when is that? because I already found out the secret myself.
JACK
All I can say is I’m sorry sonia…I was wrong, please forgive me…. I love Bella so much, she makes me happy.
SONIA
I wish you both all the best….but if I may ask why did you ask her to keep it a secret? you wanted to fli-rt and run away before or what?
JACK
honestly I thought you had feelings for me, and I felt very sorry that I couldn’t love you…. I didn’t want to hurt you so I tried to compromise.
SONIA
oh wow, how considerate of you…. what made you think I have feelings for you? because we kis-sed the last time? or what?
Well, that too made me think she had feelings for me, coupled with the fact that she totally told me she doesn’t want to sed-uce a man she has no feelings for and didn’t want to continue trying to make JJ love her…… just then I concluded that she might have someone she’s dating or having feelings for out there that is why she doesn’t want JJ…. but the way she looks at me, especially my li-ps….i realize I could be the one.

JOSHUA’S POV
I got home later that night, dinner was already served waiting for me….i quickly rushed upstairs, freshen up and came back to eat
JOSHUA
you are not eating?
SONIA
I’m full…. I will come back and clear the dishes once you are done
she replied and started to walk away, her attitude towards me was beginning to give me a bit of concern…. did I do anything foolish while sleeping the previous night?
why is she acting all cold towards me, what exactly is my offense?
JOSHUA
if you ain’t eating, can you at least seat here and watch me eat?
SONIA
I haven’t showered sir…. I would like to go take my bathe while I wait for you to finish up.
I didn’t try to stop her again, I just focused on my food and ate quietly.
A WEEK LATER
It’s been a week already and Sonia is still not talking to me, I have done everything possible for her to speak to me or even tell me what is it I did wrong but she kept telling me nothing was wrong.
It’s Friday so I decided to stay at home since there was nothing much to do at the office, the little work I had on my desk I brou-ght them home to finish up… oh did I mentioned that my team and I finished Mr Kunle Coker’s job? oh yes we did ….he was so pleased with the job that he even awarded our company a more bigger contract….. and we have already started the processing.
Sonia had just stepped out to get things from the super market down the road…..when Bobo came in to tell me someone was asking of sonia.
I was surprised, it was the first time anyone ever came home to look for her since she started staying at my place… even her friend mercy that she came with when she started working newly here hadn’t come back since she left and it’s been a while now.
JOSHUA
is it mercy?
BOBO
no sir, it’s not a lady but a man
JOSHUA

(scoffed)
who is he? he must really have some nerves coming here to look for my employee
BOBO
pardon?
I didn’t know why I was getting angry that a man came to see her.
JOSHUA
Go ask him to come inside….i will like to know what his mission is.
BOBO
all right sir.
He went out and few minutes later he came back with a very black, tall, body built and handsome young man…. my heart skipped just seeing how cute and handsome he looks…… I quickly closed my mouth before I start drooling and embarra-ss myself.
He smiled at me like he had seen me before.
MAN
good morning, my name is Eric…..you must be JJ, Sonia’s boss..
I was shocked, how close is he and Sonia that she already told him about me…. what is their relationship?
JOSHUA
bobo, you can go back to your duty post…. Mr Eric please seat down.
Bobo nodded his head in agreement and walked away.
ERIC
I’m sorry for barging in on you like this, I didn’t know you will be around…..i came to see..
JOSHUA
does that mean you have been coming when I’m not around?
ERIC
this actually my first time visiting, I’m always out of town….so I decided to come see Sonia today before my work takes me out of town again.
JOSHUA
you must really be a very busy man…. do you work for someone or you owned your own company?
ERIC
I run a smile firm
JOSHUA
I see, so what do you do?
ERIC
I’m a lawyer by profession.
JOSHUA
that’s good….. sorry that I’m asking you so many questions…..I just want to make sure Sonia is in a safe hands…. she’s more than just am employee to me.
ERIC
it’s alright sir…..you should feel free in asking me anything you want to know.
JOSHUA
Really? I can really do that?
ERIC
yes sir.
JOSHUA
so how old are you?
ERIC
I’m in my early 30s
JOSHUA
I see…. so
I was about asking him something else when the door pulled open and Sonia walked in…. the look in her eyes already said it all..she wasn’t expecting Eric… he didn’t inform her he was going.
Immediately Eric saw her, he got up and walked to her smiling happily…. before she realized it he hug-ged her ti-ghtly….. slowly her shock was replaced with a big smile.
SONIA
why didn’t you tell me you were back in town?
ERIC
I’m sorry, I came back just yesterday and I thought I’d surprise you this morning.
(he said pulling from the hug)
SONIA
I’m so glad to finally meet you, and da*m you are way cuter than what your profile picture says
ERIC
flatteries….. you ain’t looking bad yourself.
They were so busy discussing that they forgot all about me, they forgot I was seating right in front of them, they forgot I’m the boss and they were both in my house…. I was pissed but I kept my cool….i picked up my phone from the table, carried my laptop too and started to walk away.
That was Sonia came back to her sense
SONIA
(She moved away from him slowly)
I’m sorry boss, this is Eric….his my friend on Facebook.
JOSHUA
yeah, yeah, I can see that..
I said and went upstairs…. I angrily dropped my laptop and phone, jumped on the bed and covered myself with my duvet….. I tried to sleep but couldn’t.
“it’s nice to finally meet you”? “you are way cuter than what your profile pictures says”?
so she can even smile? I thought she forgot how to smile because for a week now all she has done was frown her face at me like I had ki**ed her child or something.
But look at her smiling in front of a man she’s just meeting for the first time…. it annoyed, I was very angry…… I decided to sleep to calm myself down, and hopefully when I wake up that dude is already out of my house
it was a soft consistent knock that work me up from my beauty sleep…. I checked the time and it was already 3:00pm
Oh wow I didn’t know time was far gone and I had slept that far….i got up and open the door for whoever it was that was knocking.
SONIA
I have been knocking
JOSHUA
I fell asleep…..what is it?
(I said with a straight face)
SONIA
you didn’t eat breakfast so I was knocking to inform you lunch is ready and served.
JOSHUA
I’m not hungry….. if that is why you are here….you can now leave.
I said and tried to close my door but she grabbed it quickly.
SONIA
I’m sorry for not informing you before bringing visitor to your house…. he took me unaware.
“he took me unaware “? like Eric is a spirit that is how he got to find out where she lives? if she hasn’t told him where she lives, he wouldn’t have come looking for her.
I didn’t say anything, I went back into my room and left her standing there still holding my door…. she stood there for a while before she went downstairs.
