My days at crown school episode 6

MY
✅ DAYS AT
CROWN SCHOOL✅

#Episode_6

About four weeks into the term, the time table was pasted and I knew I had to start re-ading if I do not want to disappoint Dad.
It was on Friday, in my room, sitting on the chair in my corner. It had rain that day, so everywhere was cool and silent. I took a look at the time table and brou-ght out the subjects we would have on the first day. As usual, my side p@rtner, Temi, was with another English textbook, and as always, she has her dictionary by her side to check the meaning of the words she does not know. Though Kunmi told me she re-ads other subjects. But for me, I haven’t seen her re-ad a different subject except from English.

One of the things that made me envy her was her intonation. She has a very good, and pretty voice. Her intonation sounds really good whenever she speaks.. Of course, as her every Friday duty when back from school, all Benedicta does is press her phone, chatting, and always re-ady to share us the latest news about Nigerian celebrities and the h0t guys she met on Facebook.
I noticed the ss3 students are not re-ading, saying the exams is just clas-swork to them. I couldn’t blame them, because soon they would start their WAEC (West Africa Examination Council) and leave the school for good.

My phone beeped, telling me I have a message. I picked it up, opening the message.
✒✒✒
✔”The only fine girl in Crown School, How are you?”
A quic-k smile formed on myl-ips, as I quic-kly replied his message.
“It’s cold here, I’m freezing.”✅

I smiled at myself as I s£nt the message. I wasn’t sure, but I knew I enjoyed chatting with him a lot. I just realized anything he says makes me smile, and I’ve become n@ûghty myself.
Suzy, what’s going on? A voice in my head asked, but I really don’t know. I wish I know but this was getting out of hands. I enjoy his company anytime he’s around, but his only mission was to tease me anytime he sees me.

My phone beeped interrupting my thoughts. I quic-kly opened to re-ad.
✔”Spend one minute in h0t water, and you will feel
better. Sorry babe.”✔
I tried to hold my laughter, but soon I was laughing all alone in my corner getting the room mates attention. They looked away when they saw that I wasn’t affected by their looks. I punched on my phone alphabets replying his message.

✔”Be happy you won’t spend the rest of your life in
prison, because my Dad would personally chop (cut)
off your head for killing her daughter.”✅

I laughed at my n@ûghty self, impatiently waiting for his reply.
“Lol, silly girl. Don’t you know your Dad will thank
me when he hears his daughter told a guy she’s
cold, and freezing.”

This time, I refused to laugh, pouting my smilingl-ips in other not to bur-st out and shock everyone with my laughter. “Idiot,” I muttered to myself.

✔”Waves of disturbance, die by fire! I’m re-ading.”✔

I s£nt back and switched off my phone. Dad would skin me alive if I should fail. My eyes landed on Kunmi in her glas-ses, who was busy pressing her calculator. I’m sure she was solving ‘further maths’ because it was the first subject we would be doing on the first day. I bow for that girl! She knows all the nooks and crannies to get the right answer. I let out a sigh and finally opened my Biology to re-ad.
••••

Two hours later, around seven in the evening, I was done re-ading, and immediately bell for supper was rang. I took my things with me, including my phone. As we entered the hall, A guy suddenly bu-mped into me and immediately apologized. The place was very big and spacious that I don’t think people should bu-mp into each other.

I joined Kunmi at our seats. We now sit with Victoria, Debbie and Temi. Everyone was chatting and busy doing all sort of things. I still haven’t put on my phone, so I tried searching for his seat with my eyes to say hello, but he was too busy to look up. He was laughing like a baby and it soothed him. My mind was away from the table as I was still expecting Victor to look up, but he never did.

Well, I knew there was always a way to get his attention. I de-eped my hand into my Sk-irt pocket to bring out my phone, but was no where to be find. I quic-kly got up from my seat, searching my b©dy.

“Hey, what are you looking for?” It was Debbie who first asked as others on my table turned to me with a curious look.
“My phone, I can’t find my phone.” I told them, searching our seats over and over again.

“Shhh….lower your voice,” Temi warned.

“How can you expect me to keep quiet when I can’t find my phone. My Dad just bought me that phone. I nee-d it back.”
I realized Victoria was quiet. She conversing with someone who turned out to be Victor. Both were staring at each other, saying something secretly with their eyes.

“Okay guys,” Victoria slammed her hand on the table a little bit, giving out small noise as they all looked up at her.

“What?” It was Temi who asked.

“Suzy don’t worry,” she turned to me. “I’m certain no one stole your phone, because they know the consequences. But, we will report this to the house mistress and the house master for you to get your phone back.”

“She’s right,” Kunmi said.

“Well, if you’re sure about this, no problem,” I agreed, but couldn’t continue with my food. I just wanted my phone back.
Time for supper was over, and everyone was heading back to the hostel. I heard a whisper, but I was sure I was not the only one because some girls hissed beside me and looked away, but I heard Kunmi shouted, “Suzy your phone! It’s your phone!” She ran over there but saw something that made her dropped the phone back. She c@m£ back to us and cleared her throat.

“Sorry Suzy, I don’t think it’s yours, but it actually looked like yours. May be you should check it yourself too.”
I took a look at the phone where it was. It looked a lot like my phone. “Of course, I will. Thanks anyway.”

I walked towards it leaving the girls behind. The strange p@rt of it was, how come whosoever stole it put it carelessly where any one could step on it. May be for me to see it as quic-k as possible. As I bent on my knees to pick up the phone, I heard the whisper again, turning my head to the direction with a shock plastered on my face. While his face was all smiling, showing me his pearly white teeth.

“It’s yours, just pick it.” He said at the corner he hid himself. I see why Kunmi reacted that way.
“So you’re the Devil?”
“The handsome Devil,” he win-ked at me.
I picked up my phone and turned to look at the girls, but they’ve left.

“Come here,” he gr@bb£d me to the corner.

“Victor!”

“Suzy.” He was grinning like he just won a visa.

“Victor, it is not funny. Its not funny at all.”

“Suzy, do I look like I’m laughing.”

“Victor, you’re smiling. What’s the difference?” I t©uçhed his face. “See, you’re smiling at nothing. Now I get it. So the guy bu-mping into me wasn’t just a mistake. Planned work by you.”
“Just to see you, since you refused to put on your phone.”
I could not say a word. So, he was really that eager to see me one on one. I think that was silly. He knew I never joke with my property. Anything Dad gives to me, I don’t joke with it, because I know the kind of father I have. Only God knows what he has to do pla-ying this silly game.

He was quiet, just staring at me.

“Now, I found my phone. So what’s it?”

I really do not know what he was thinking, but I guess he got it, that I was mad at him.

“I’m sorry. I went too far,” he apologized and looked somehow hurt. He was quiet for some seconds again, fighting with what he wanted to tell me. I could see he was scared of my reply alre-ady.
“Victor!”

“Will you go out with me?” He said it very fast and clear. While I just stood there afraid of giving him my reply.

“Suzy will you go out with me?” He repeated.

“How?” I asked, because the building was full of security, and how would he even take me out. We were both in the hostel where no one was allowed to go out.

“Just give me your reply. ‘How’ does not matter to you. Everything is arranged.”

I was sure to make use of my soft, low voice to sound so sorry. “Victor, I’m scared. I’ve never done something like this.” I remembered what Dad and Mom told me, and I wouldn’t want my case to be reported to them.

“Scared of Dad?” He asked, as he stood straight.

“Both,” I replied. Though Mom’s life is simple, but would never disappoint her. I was here to re-ad and not to go out clubbing.

“Victor I’m sorry.” I apologized for disappointing him.
All of a sudden, he started laughing, cl@pping his hands, and later placed them on his face, ru-bbing his face down as he ru-bbe-d his hands together.

“Why would you apologize when I was only trying to help you catch some fun. Anyways, the girls are waiting, I should leave.”

“Huh!” I didn’t know that sli-pped out of my mouth. Somehow, p@rt of me was hurt, that he wasn’t taking only me.

“Yes,” he turned back with a smile.

“I said, have fun.”

“Are you sure that was what you said?” There was a satisfied smile on his face, and I just rolled my eyes at him.

“Yes, you’re right. I said have fun, and vomit on all the girls so they won’t get to follow a silly boy like you again.”
He laughed like it was funny, when I was not even smiling.

“Fine girls are waiting Suzy. Talk to you later.” He win-ked and left.

I turned away, somehow angry at myself for saying no. I put on my phone, and immediately, message upon message c@m£ in, but I ignored it. Almost entering my room when another message c@m£ in which I decided to re-ad.

“Good night beauty. Now can I have a smile,
because right now I just landed on my be-d, hoping
to take you out in my dream.”

I couldn’t help smiling. So this fool was just whinnying me. Would you blame me if I call him a n@ûghty, ugly, silly boy?

I should have said ‘Yes!’
