TWO DAYS LATER
Mrs chioma advised her daughter to stop worrying about Amelia and fucus on Michael, she spoke to her in a way that Amara would un-derstand.
MRS CHIOMA
it would be better you fucus on Michael, amelia would always be that girl that nee-ds her family, no matter where she goes too, she will always come back home…. but I want you to know charms have expiry date, and might fade off quicker than one could think.
AMARA
I have close to forty million in my account, all thanks to Michael and the other extra jobs I did……. I think that money is enough for me….
MRS CHIOMA
don’t be ridiculous Amara, forty million naira? I was thinking you were gonna say billions…. believe me when I tell you you haven’t saved enough for the raining day.
AMARA
mum Michael had done enough, we should be looking for a way to get Victor as our pay cheque….. I don’t want the innocent guy to go bankrupt.
MRS CHIOMA
(Shocked that her daughter was saying this)
I don’t un-derstand you these days Amara, are you defending Michael because you are in…..
AMARA
mum please okay, even if I want to fall in love which I’m not seeing myself doing, I will now love a five seconds guy? I have no feelings for Michael, I just worry that we have eaten him enough.
MRS CHIOMA
Michael is a big boy, do you know how much he charge for school fees per term? common the dude can’t be broke….beside you told me he have other businesses in the state.
AMARA
so what exactly do you want me to do now?
MRS CHIOMA
good question, tell him to buy you a house.
AMARA
a house? what happened to this one we are living in?
MRS CHIOMA
did your late father built the house? why are you sounding like amelia?
AMARA
okay fine….. I will go see him tonight so we can discuss it.
MRS CHIOMA
that would be better, because delay is dangerous.
AMARA
you are right mom….. we deserve a house of our own too.
They diccused other things for a while before Amara got up and went inside to take a quick nap.
Tony was heading out for lunch when his phone started to ring, he parked his car and answered the call
TONY
good afternoon mum
MRS PATRICIA
afternoon my son, how are you?
TONY
I’m good mum, how are you doing today mum?
MRS PATRICIA
I’m very well my son…. where are you at right now?
TONY
I just left the office, I’m going out for lunch.
MRS PATRICIA
I’m just coming back from pastor Dominic’s place, would you come home after work?
TONY
if you want me why not mum.
MRS PATRICIA
thanks dear, please try it’s very important we seat and talk.
TONY
okay ma, I will come later.
MRS PATRICIA
Alright, take care of yourself….. God be with you.
TONY
Amen and you too mum…..
He hung up and kept his phone back so as not to lose concentration on the road.
He wondered what could be the outcome from the place his mother went to.
Amelia and her finacê laid on the bed watching movie from his laptop instead of the TV hung on the wall.
It was what amelia wanted, she wanted to use his system to see a movie.
VICTOR
that reminds me babe, you still haven’t told me what actually happened with that your ex.
AMELIA
Oh, I thought I did…. but won’t you be jealous If I talk to you about another man?
VICTOR
(He ki-ssed her nose)
and why is that? his your ex….so???
AMELIA
well, Michael use to be my boss until he started to like me, he asked me out couple of time but I turn him down, but he was persistent so I finally gave in to his request.
VICTOR
oh that means you didn’t love him? you only accepted because he kept asking?
AMELIA
not exactly you know….. at a point a fell for him too, I mean Michael is one hell of a gentleman man….sweet, and R0m-ntic so at a point my feelings for him went wild.
VICTOR
okay, so what happened that he was no longer interested?
AMELIA
honestly speaking babe, I don’t know what happened and when everything went erong…. Michael came with his people to introduce themselves and fix a date for the wine carrying and other stuff…. the next day I called him but he didn’t answer….. I went to work and the gate man at my office served me a letter written by Michael saying he can’t marry me or lose everything because of me that I’m a witch, my spirit human wants to kill him.
VICTOR
(Laughed)
I’m sorry but it’s funny, how ridiculous can that be….. if he sees a witch he wouldn’t even know it.
AMELIA
(she smiled)
you make every conversation with you enjoyable.
VICTOR
what is my job if not to make you laugh…. that reminds me….. what’s your sister’s relationship with Peter?
AMELIA
they don’t have a relationship, they are just friends.
VICTOR
hmm, friends?
AMELIA
well, friends with benefits if there’s anything like that.
VICTOR
of course there is….. Peter told me Amara is a very spoilt girl and that makes me to wonder why is that…. I mean you are decent, mum too is decent…. so where will Amara take her own life style from?
AMELIA
(she laughs)
you know little to nothing about my family okay.
VICTOR
but I will soon be your husband, so why not tell me everything I nee-d to know about my in-laws.
(he said ki-ssing her ne-ck)
AMELIA
don’t se-duce me because I’m not doing anything ooh, remember what the doctor said.
VICTOR
(Laughs)
see who said u should forget what the doctor said that her miracle is complete.
AMELIA
I know what I said but right now I want to do what the doctor said.
VICTOR
I have heard you….. let’s go downstairs and eat I’m hungry.
AMELIA
me too I’m very hungry.
Victor came down from the bed and helped her to come down too, he carried her from the ground before she could realize herself and took her downstairs.
After work Tony drove to his family house to see his mother, he just had this strong feeling that whatever his mum heard from the church won’t be something good.
He entered the mas-sive living room and prostrated before his mother before he got up.
Mrs Patricia asked her maid to get her son a glas-s of jui-ce and food but Tony wasn’t in the mood to eat yet…. he just want to hear about his friend.

Tony wasn’t surprised when his mother told him that Michael was not in his right senses, I mean Michael has been his friend since they were kids so he should know his way of life.
He begged his mother to help him, he said even if it means spending money doesn’t mind so long his friend is back to his senses.
Mrs Patricia told Tony the only way out was to bring his friend to church for deliverance else he would remain like that.
Tony thought of the possible way he could get Michael to church, ever since this his new life style Michael doesn’t care about him anymore, or even do the boys hang out….his always talking about how Amara would not like him hanging out with them.
something crossed his mind so he decided to give it a long shot hoping it would work.
He called Michael on the phone and told him he was very sick and has been admitted in the hospital for an emergency surgery.
Michael felt bad for his friend, he still cares about the friend who has always filled the gap of a brother in his life.
He ran upstairs and picked his car keys telling Tony he would join him as soon as possible.
Tony knew giving him his own house own address would blow up his cover so he sent him the church address not including “ministry or church” in the address.
He told his friend to call him when he gets to that address, that someone will come out and meet him and bring him inside.
Michael wondered why his friend would go to such hospitals when they are better hospitals around that he could go to…. He decided in his mind that once he gets there and see that the hospital can’t handle his friend he would take him from there.
Michael was at his car garage starting the car he wanted to go out with when Amara walked into the compound with a small bag in hand…. she walked up to where Michael is.
AMARA
baby, you are going out
MICHAEL
yeah, I’m surprised you came
AMARA
(she smiled)
mission accomplished then, because I actually didn’t call you that I was coming so you would be surprise.
MICHAEL
(He came out and hu-g her)
thanks for the surprise babe.
AMARA
so where are you going to? can I come?
Michael knew Amara wouldn’t like it if he told her he was going to see Tony because she already warned him to stay away from the guy.
MICHAEL
I have an emergency I nee-d to attend to
AMARA
emergency? work related? or you want to go and see amother woman?
MICHAEL
(He Chuckled )
how can I? when I have someone like you….. I’m not going to see any woman babe, I’m going to sign up a big deal
(he lied)
AMARA
okay baby, I will just wait for you inside then.
MICHAEL
alright, you want me to get anything for you when coming back?
AMARA
yeah, get me suya and yogurt cold one ooh
MICHAEL
Yes ma…..i have go hurry now babe.
He ki-sses her quickly and went drove away.
Rosemary has been praying for her boss ever since she started seeing traces of what wasn’t there before, and she had been praying for the day that michay will not be at home so he can deal with Amara personally.
AMARA
rosemary, I’m starving please give me food.
(she said immediately she entered)
rosemary heard her loud and clear but she ignored her, she allowed Amara to come look for her in the kitchen.
AMARA
rosemary didn’t you me calling you?
instead rosemary started to sing a song that proved that she was actually ignoring amara.
AMARA
I’m dead, rose so it has got to this? that you will be singing on top of my head when I’m talking to you?
ROSEMARY
excuse me young lady, I’m not your staff neither I’m I your slave, I work for Mr Michael not for his toys
AMARA
did you just refer to me as a toy?
ROSEMARY
What else are you? look here your days in this house are numbers, you witch…. how can people be so wicked and cruel…. like you and your mother are you the Satan the Bible warns us about or we should expect another one…. because if you ain’t the devil I’m sure even Satan would seat down and tame lessons from you.
AMARA
(she was furious)
How dare you talk to my mother like that? have you gone mad?
She screamed carrying her hand up to slap rosemary but knew it would come to that so she was ready.
She grabbed Amara’s hand midway and throw it down
ROSEMARY
you want to slap? for saying the truth? think your star that your hand didn’t you j my face…. I would have showed you what warri girls do to Igbo people…… like I was saying, are you sure your mother really gave birth to anuty amelia? because a mother who would hate her own blood to the point of ruining her life isn’t a mother but a monster and nee-ded to be cast out among women….. young lady, if your family eat evil, why not take the evil else where and leave my boss out of it? it’s a pity he thinks his in love with you? who would ever love someone like you genuinely ? when all you represent is nothing but darkness, total darkness.
AMARA
enough rose.
She turn and started to walk away but rose pulled her back because she was no done talking.
ROSEMARY
I will advise you run with the little you have stolen from my boss, because I have this tiny feeling that your end time is close…..i have worked with Michael since I was 18 and I know him very well, you don’t want to know what he looks like when his not un-der your charm…. he will make you pay every dime he spent on you, down to the food you ate….. just one call from him and it’s “game-over”
The last word of rosemary hit Amara strongly, she would not want Michael coming to look for her if the charm is no longer working, she felt like running away but that would make rosemary feel like she won so she went back to the living room and carried her phone, she called Michael several times but his phone was on silent he didn’t hear it ring.
Amara angrily picked her bag and left, she would not stay another minutes in the house with that witch called rosemary… she’s only jealous that Michael didn’t notice her all this year’s she’s been working for him.
Michael got to the address his friend sent to him and took his phone, that was when he knew Amara called him, he wanted to call her back but Tony’s call came in and he answered it.
MICHAEL
I just got there, who is coming to get me?
TONY
you will see her soon.
Michael hung up and came out of the car so whoever that is coming to pick him would see him.
He was a bit surprised when Mrs Patricia appeared.
MICHAEL
(prostrating)
good evening mum
Mrs Patricia had this face that convinced Michael that his friend was truly sick and whatever the sick may be it’s a serious one….. he hu-gged Mrs Patricia to comfort her little did he know his the one who nee-ds comforting.
