MOTHER WHY
EPISODE 47
Victor and Amelia arrived at his place around 9:pm, traffic was crazy.
Amelia couldn’t close her mouth when she entered Victor’s compound.
AMELIA
you mean you owned this building?
VICTOR
it was my dad’s, it became mine only after when he died.
AMELIA
(She felt bad)
I didn’t know…. I’m sorry
VICTOR
it’s okay, I have moved on…..lets go inside.
AMELIA
(She followed him)
if you have a house as big as this, why did you not settle here but came to Abuja to rent an expensive apartment?
VICTOR
I believe in someone having comfort anywhere they live, provided they have the money to make it happen…. I stayed in the state almost all my life, did all my schooling there…. mum is a Judge there so I didn’t have much of a reason to always come home.
AMELIA
(She sat on the couch)
so your dad was the only one in Nigeria?
VICTOR
how possible is that, dad and mum were Romeo and Juliet, sometimes I wonder how mum had to survive after the death of her husband….. dad has two companies here in Nigeria, and two others in the state…. he put people in charge to take care of his company.
AMELIA
I’m jealous, but continue with your story.
VICTOR
when dad died the people he kept in charge of his companies started to steal from him, they almost made us go bankrupt so mum had to send me to Nigeria…. since they didn’t know me in dad’s company at Abuja I had to apply there, after three trials I was given the job…. I worked for like four months in my dad’s company as an un-dercover till I got all the evidence I nee-ded to sent those steal behind bars.
AMELIA
wow, you are so br@ve and I’m very sure your dad will be very proude of you
VICTOR
(He laughed)
now you sound just like mum
AMELIA
talking about your mum, do you think she will like me?
VICTOR
of course, mum would not only like you, she’s gonna love you too.
AMELIA
I hope so
(she said sadly)
VICTOR
amelia I know your fear, but I want you to know that my mum is not like other richmother’s who wouldn’t want their kids to marry middle clas-s people…. my mum is a believer of true love and I’m sure she will bless our Union.
AMELIA
if you say so.
VICTOR
so tell me babe, you said you are jealous? about what?
AMELIA
babe I’m so exhausted, can we go to bed please? tomorrow we will talk.
VICTOR
yeah you are Right, we should probably get some rest.
AMELIA
hope you have food in this house because sometimes I wake up in the night to eat like evil Spirit.
VICTOR
(He laughed)
of course, I have different kind of snacks in the fridge…. but I don’t have food ooh, I haven’t really stayed in this house for weeks to make me wanna stock the kitchen.
AMELIA
lazy you….snacks would do…. but now I’m still full from the food i ate in the plane.
VICTOR
alright, let’s go upstairs then.
Amelia got up fr the couch she sat and started to go upstairs while Vic packed their bags and went up with her
THE NEXT DAY
Michael got so worried about Amara, since they came back from Canada she has neither called him or answer his calls, so he decided to pay her a visit.
As he got to the gate where Amara lives, that he remembered the warning she have him that he should never come to look for her in her house no matter what.
But he missed her too much and wouldn’t go unless he sees her….so he horn at the gate and the gate man came outside to check who is it.
IBURO
ah oga na you? it’s been a while you….did you travel?
MICHAEL
I have been around….how are you?
IBURO
toh I’m fine sir….should I open the gate for you?
MICHAEL
no that won’t be necessary, just go inside and help me call amara.
The gate man was confuse because he was sure it was Amelia Michael was coming to see then… or did he make mistake with the names?
IBURO
(he laughs)
oga Amara abi anuty amelia? you too dey make mistake with their names?
MICHAEL
(He sigh)
I know what I said Mr….. please go call Amara for me.
Iburo nodded his head and went back into the compound locking the gate.
He went to Mrs chioma’s door and knocked and Amara came out to answer it
AMARA
what is it? because if you came here because of food I’m sorry to tell you that there’s no food for you.
IBURO
that’s why I like you sister more than you, she get patience, but you your own too much….always in a hurry to judge someone….I didn’t come here because of food, I came here because someone asked me to call you.
AMARA
who is that?
IBURO
I have delivered my message, if you like go and see the person, and if you like stand here and be asking me “who”.
(he said and left murmuring insult at her)
Amara was shocked to see Michael, she immediately pushed him into his car, and went to the other side and enter.
AMARA
drive…
(she said with all authority)
MICHAEL
where to?
AMARA
anywhere, just get out of this place.
Michael started the car and drove away, immediately they were out from her area she stop him to pack.
AMARA
didn’t I warn you never to come look for me in my house?
MICHAEL
I wouldn’t have if you had picked my calls…. what’s going on baby, are you avoiding me?
AMARA
that’s not enough reason for you to come to my house on announced, what if my sister was around and she saw you? what would you have say to her? that you came to see me? what is wrong with you Michael.
MICHAEL
I don’t care what Amelia thinks or feel, or I care about is you baby…. why are you punishing me like this?
AMARA
(She signed)
okay fine, I’m sorry I haven’t been picking your calls,I have been so busy.
MICHAEL
you are treating me the way you like because you know you have control over me
That statement got Amara shocked, she turn to look at him immediately wondering if he knows that she’s using something on him.
AMARA
what do you mean by “control over me”?
MICHAEL
You have control over my heart, you know I love you so much and can’t do without you….that’s why you are toying with my heart.
AMARA
(She took in a relaxing breathe)
but I already said I’m sorry
MICHAEL
it’s okay baby, but promise you are going home with me
AMARA
I can’t…. I didn’t prepare to go out, see I’m not even with my phone.
MICHAEL
it doesn’t matter babe, whatever you nee-d you know we can get it at the mall.
AMARA
And my phone?
MICHAEL
if you want a new one I can get it for you, you know I’m capable.
AMARA
I don’t want a new one, you know what just wait for me here let me quick take a bike home and get my phone….. I will meet you here.
MICHAEL
are you sure you will come back?
AMARA
Have I ever lied to you? just wait for me here.
she collected some money from him and came down from his car, she stopped a bike that took her home.

Victor still believe amelia nee-ded enough rest just as the doctor implied, but amelia isn’t use to seating down and watching people do things for her.
AMELIA
babe I’m not going to lie down again ooh, I must cook that food for you this afternoon.
VICTOR
but you don’t nee-d to, just lie here while I prepare something for you……remember what……
AMELIA
forget what the doctor said jor, didn’t he say my healing was a miracle because he could swear I was coming down with stro-ke?
VICTOR
yeah, he said that.
AMELIA
good, so if my healing is a miracle what makes you and your doctor think my God will do an unfinished miracle? beside I fell sick because I thought I lost you again
VICTOR
(he ki-sses her forehead)
you will never lose me baby, I’m always gonna stand by you, be your shield when the world come at us with their shit.
AMELIA
that’s so reas-suring babe…. I love you
VICTOR
I love you more but right now I nee-d to go make lunch, you still gonna use your drugs you know.
AMELIA
Ah I hate that drugs damn it….. I’m going to help too.
VICTOR
you are just too stubborn
AMELIA
yeah yeah but you love me.
She winked at him making Victor to laugh ha-rd.
she led the way to the kitchen and Victor followed her, they made lunch of spaghetti and beef Amelia’s favorite.
AMELIA
thank God for digital day that you order everything you want online …. we would have gone to the market if there wasn’t a grocery sto-re to shop from.
VICTOR
very true love…. maybe only you would have gone to the market since you are looking for stress.
AMELIA
(She laughed)
you know I would if I know the market or where to get food stuffs…. but babe how did the delivery man get here so fast
VICTOR
they have br@nches, maybe the br@nch I called isn’t far from our place.
AMELIA
(She blus-hed)
“our place”?
VICTOR
yes our place…. it’s for you and me.
AMELIA
If you say so……
Lunch was ready and served, they ate in the living room before amelia took the plate to the kitchen to wash them.
She came back and laid on the ba-re floor
and pulled Victor to lie beside her too.
VICTOR
babe you know this is not healthy right?
AMELIA
American it’s healthy joor, I just want to lie on the floor with you…. I like the feelings.
The both laid down facing the ceiling, nobody said anything to each other, they were just enjoying the moment.
AMELIA
Victor!!!!!
VICTOR
yes baby
AMELIA
take me upstairs please I want to sleep.
VICTOR
are you alright baby? does your body hurt? you okay?
AMELIA
I’m fine, I just want to sleep.
VICTOR
okay baby.
he got up and carried his woman bridal style to the bedroom and laid her on the bed, he laid on the bed beside her too and she moves very close to him for cuddles.
Within minutes amelia had already slept off, Victor checked and saw that she was already sleeping so he tiptoe out of the bed and went downstairs.
He took his phone and ordered for flower, red flowers with a very good fragranc, after ordering for the flowers he ordered for other stuffs and waited for it to arrive.
About an hour later the delivery man arrive with all Victor ordered for.
Immediately the delivery man left Victor returned back to his house and started the preparation so as not to wake amelia up from sleep.
After he was throu-ghdoing everything he went to the guest room and showered, then went to his room where amelia is and picked the clothes he wanted to wear.
As if Victor knew Amelia was going to sleep till night fall, he sat in the living room with the lights off, but the light beside the staircase were on so she wouldn’t have to bump into something and fall.
Amelia woke up and found out Victor was no longer beside her on the bed, she wanted to come down from the bed to go check him in the bathroom but saw flowers that was spread on the floor.
Her heart skipped a bit before she went to the bathroom to check, she didn’t see him in the bathroom so she decided to follow the flowers they gave perfect direction.
She followed the flower till she got downstairs, everywhere was dark
AMELIA
baby, where are you? when did you arrange all this?
(she asked the dark room)
Victor turn on the light, his one knee on the ground.
VICTOR
baby right from the very first time that I set this eyes on you, I knew you were my heavenly made… I want nothing more than forever with you.
AMELIA
(Emotional)
Baby!!!
VICTOR
I am not promising you a rosy life but I’m promising to be your rosy life, I’m promisii to stand by you in any storm or weather…. please will you do me the honour of becoming my wIfe?
Amelia wept for a while, she didn’t believe a day like this would come, indeed God was back on her side, at that very moment she realized how unfair she has been to herself and treated God.
God is not a man that he should lie, whatever he does he does it for a reason.
AMELIA
I love you so much baby…..yes I’m going to marry you.
Victor smiled happily and inse-rted the ring on her finger, she helped him get up and hu-gged him.
VICTOR
thanks so much baby.
AMELIA
thanks for loving someone like me, I don’t even know what to say.
VICTOR
come let’s celebr@te.
AMELIA
(She wiped her tears and chuckled)
you would have inform me so I would dress for the occasion…. how did you come up with this so fast?
VICTOR
(He laughed)
I ordered for everything, even the food and the wine…. I knew you were gonna sleep for long.
AMELIA
I don’t know why but I feel at peace here, that’s why when I just lie down I will start feeling sleepy.
VICTOR
that’s because you are home…..letd eat
(he ki-sses her forehead)
They went to the dinning room to have their dinner of fried rice and spicy chicken.
Amara was so angry that her sister has not called her since she travelled, so she decided to call Amelia and apologize for the way she acted the previous day and probably fake some few tears to have her sister back on her side…. but unfortunately for her Amelia was having dinner with her finacê downstairs and she didn’t remember to bring her phone with her.
After trying for like ten times she angrily threw the phone away.
MICHAEL
Are you okay babe? you have been acting strange since you came here yesterday.
AMARA
I’m fine……just let me be for now
MICHAEL
babe whatever it is you can tell me.
AMARA
I’m fine okay? don’t worry about me
Michael knew something was up with his girl but he doesn’t know what it is because she wouldn’t open up to him.
