The guys got to Nkiru place and saw her seated with a glas-s of wine,
“What are you doing here? She asked even without looking back as they walked in and Victor surprisedly looked at his friends.
“We c@m£ to apologize ma, plea-se forgive us, Mark said and she stood up and looked at them.
“Forgive us? Really? Why did you keep me away from my son? She asked.
“We… I mean Bridget told us to be careful about you and her father called you a…a witch, Fred replied looking at her and she smiled.
“Get out of here, she said and sat down.
“Aren’t you coming to see your son? He was involved in an accident, Victor said.
“Why are you telling this witch? i don’t look like a doctor or do i? She asked..
“Because we don’t believe in witches nons-en-se, Victor replied.
“Well then you better believe in it because your mother is not different, get out from here! She shouted throwing the glas-s in her hand and Victor li-cked hisl-ips.
“The last thing anyone can do is insult my mother. I just dey respect you sha, guys let’s go, Victor angrily said and left.
“Get out! She shouted and the guys looked at Nkiru for a while and left.
On the way back to the hospital Maria called,
“Where’s the hospital? I just arrived? She asked and they told her..
“I’m almost there, Maria said and dropped the call as she was in a cab heading to the hospital.
Coincidentally they arrived and saw Maria just coming out from the cab,
“You were not with him? Maria surprisedly asked seeing them.
“We left him with Bridget and her father, they replied.
“I thought you were booked at noon? Is not yet noon, Victor said to her as they went in.
“I had to beg my way in and got a ticket for the first flight, I couldn’t spend any minute there when my family is in chaos. Any news from Joe? She asked.
“No news, Francis took over everything, Mark replied and opened up to see Bridget holding Francis hand.
“Francis! Maria screamed and hvgged him as he was awake,
“Who did this to you? What happened to you? Maria asked crying.
“Mama, Frank replied and his friends bec@m£ interested.
“Where’s his mother? Bridget father asked the guys.
“She s£nt us out of the house, Mark replied.
“Is that so? Or is she scared? He asked.
“What are you talking about? What did mama do? Maria asked Francis and he closed his watery eyes like he was gathering strength to tell them.
“I….ermm Mama c@m£…c@m£ back this morning after Joe…after Joe got missing, Frank weakly replied.
“Okay, what happened? Maria asked.
“I…I went to her room to ask where….. Where she c@m£ back from but…she…harshly answered me. Then i…. Francis said and coughed.
“Sorry, they said to him.
“I brou-ght up Joe issue asking what she did that Joe ran away. But mama….mama eyes suddenly turned and my che-st was as if it was pressing ha-rd and I couldn’t breathe. I saw mama in a form I can’t explain, I saw terrible things she used to do with me and I coughed out blood, Francis continued and Maria confusedly looked at his friends who kept a “what is he talking about face”.
“You see Maria I was trying to tell your friends who your mother is and they called me a so called pastor. I’m not mad at them because they are ignorant, but if you really want to un-derstand what Frank is trying to tell you then listen to me attentively, Bridget father c@m£ in and Maria nodded..
“Okay My daughter c@m£ home engaged one evening. Before that I started having horrible dreams but kept praying, I didn’t un-derstand what it means then but I knew I prayed.
When Bridget c@m£ home engaged, she began acting strange at home and I and my wife kept wondering what was going on and put her in prayers not until Francis c@m£ to see me just yesterday right? He asked Fred and he nodded in agreement.
“Good, Bridget had a misun-derstanding with Francis and threw the ring on him in annoyance. I was angry in my spirit with the way my daughter embarras-sed me and I wanted putting an end to it. I took the ring and gathered my team of prayers only to know it was a serpent in a disguise of a ring, and the interesting p@rt is, it disappeared from us while we were praying. Now I want to know Frank, who gave you the ring or did you buy it somewhere or something? Bridget dad asked and Francis looked at his friends.
“His mother gave it to us. She wanted helping Francis to settle down with Bridget, Victor replied.
“Oh she gave you the ring to engage my daughter? You know why? Her dad asked and they shook their head..
‘Because she didn’t want Bridget for Francis. My daughter was a wrong choice because she clearly saw where she’s coming from so she tried all her best to separate them, Bridget dad said and Maria scoffed.
“Wait wait, what are you trying to say? I don’t get it, Maria said.
“Why are you all this ins-en-sitive and cold to the things of the spirit? You think life is just what you see and you think this is all of it? Your mother c@m£ to me warning me after the ring disappeared. She told me who she is and how much she hates my family. Your mother is a witch and a deadly manipulator of her children destiny. If you doubt me take a look at your siblings, what do Yuh see? Bridget dad shouted and Maria looked at Francis.
“I believe him. Sister, I saw mama in a form that wasn’t ordinary and that fear made me ran away and got hit by a car, Francis said to her.
“Is that why she c@m£ here? I mean is that why she knew you were here even when I didn’t disclose this place to her? Victor asked shocked.
“Yes, she monitors them all and knows everything about them, Bridget replied and Maria cleaned her face speechless and looked at Bridget father and remembered something.
“I think I’ve heard this thing from someone. Before I left for the transfer my ex c@m£ to me telling me my mother is a witch, Maria said.
“Are you talking about Seth? Fred asked.
“Yes Seth. He was very serious with it and I warned him never to say that again, Maria replied and Fred quic-kly called him up.
“Guy how fa? Seth picked up.
“No far guy I wan confirm something from you plea-se tell me the truth, Fred said.
“we-tin happen? Seth asked.
“we-tin you tell Maria about her mama? Na true? Fred asked and Seth hissed.
“Abeg no bring that t©pic….. “Guy na me talk to me, na true? Fred cut in.
“Yes na true, but she no wan believe me, Seth replied.
“Thank you, thank you, Fred said and dropped the call breathing ha-rd .
“So its true then? $h!t! Mark shouted and Maria ran out of the room which the guy pursued and held her,
“Where are you going to? Mark held her
“To visit that witch, she has a lot of explanation for me, she replied.
“I’m coming with you, the guys said and left with Maria to the house…
After the guys left Nkiru worriedly paced round the house looking at it and brou-ght out her cheque books and credit cards scattering them on the sofa.
“I never wanted it to be this way but you’ve crashed me in a tragic way. I planned my end to be better but you’ve ruined it, all of you! She shouted and her former master appeared laughing ha-rd but she ignored.
“How does it feel Nkiru? he asked.
“Laugh all you can its not over yet, she replied.
“I’m familiar with his second option to you, you agreed to sacrifice yourself huh? Why don’t you you just give up alre-ady, he said and Nkiru smiled.
“Youre such a blocked head if you’ve known me for years but still sees me as a stranger. Nkiru never gives up! She shouted on him.
“I never give up too, I fulfil my promise and I will, He sternly said.
“So what are you going to do now? Its too late for that because soon no b©dy will harm me anymore, Nkiru said.
“Dont be too sure dear, we run this things and we rule it, he said laughing and disappeared and Nkiru quic-kly summoned her new master.
“Are you re-ady? he asked.
“Is there anything you’re hiding from me about my self sacrifice? She asked.
“You dare doubt me? He asked.
“Its not a crime to be sure, she replied.
“Like you have a choice here, he said and she heaved.
‘Your daughter is here, he continued.
“What! She shouted.
“Look at you, you’ve gone so weak that you can’t see them anymore like you used to, yet you’re dragging yourself behind. let me help you, she is coming with full rage and your darling pastor has told them everything about you, you know what that means right? he asked and Nkiru leaned on the wall breathing ha-rd .
“Are you re-ady? He asked again smiling at her.
“Cut the cra-p and do it, she replied.
“Then go to your room, he said and disappeared while she slowly let herself down trying ha-rd not to cry. She sadly looked at the family enlargement ph0to on the wall and stood up strong and left for her room………..
Maria stormed into the house with the guys and saw the sitting room scattered,
“Mama! She shouted and ran to the room with the guys and saw Nkiru on the floor..
“What did she do? Mark asked scared.
“Mama! Mama! Maria asked kneeling to shake her while Fred quic-kly checked her pulse and looked at Maria speechless and she quic-kly un-derstood and shook her head shaking her aggressively.
“No no! Common wake up you nee-d to answer me! How dare you! Maria screamed as Victor held her up.
“You have to wake up! You have to wake up you witch wake up and tell me what I’ve ever done to you! Maria shouted crying on Victor and Fred quic-kly called Bridget.
“Hello Fred, Bridget picked up.
“Give the phone to your father, he said.
“Okay, daddy its Fred, she said handing the phone over.
“Fred? Her dad called out.
“Sir, she’s dead, Fred said.
“She’s what? That dubious witch what has she done! Her dad shouted……..
