“He’s our friend, we’ll take him to the hospital ourselves thank you, Fred said to the people.
“How are we sure? You can’t just…… “His name is Francis okay and he’s safe with us trust me! Victor cuts in on one of the guys who tried arguing with them but Fred alre-ady placed Francis at the back seat with Mark who held him.
“He’s safe don’t worry! Fred shouted waving at the people there and took off with him heading to the hospital.
“He’s breathing right? Tell me his breathing plea-se, Victor who was sitting at the front kept asking Mark.
“Guy can you hear me? Frank! Mark shouted tapping on Francis cheeks.
“plea-se fas-ter, his breathing is weak, Mark told Fred while he drove and Bridget call c@m£ on phone and Victor checked it out for him.
“Its Bridget, Victor announced.
“Don’t pick it, Fred said.
“But why? She will be more than worried, Mark said.
“What do you want us to tell her? Won’t this news get her more worried? At least let’s be sure about Francis state first before anything, Fred said.
“Don’t talk again just drive abeg, but come to think of it, why is Francis dressed this way? He can’t be looking for Joe on a short and singlet with no shoe on, Victor said.
“Looks like he was coming to our place, but why didn’t he just call us on phone? I don’t un-derstand anything here, Mark added confused.
“We have to inform his mom about this, Victor said.
“No no no I won’t accept. Before we left the house Bridget said something about Francis mother, she asked us to be careful with her. Right now I don’t know if we can trust his mother with this, everything is just messed up, Fred said and Bridget call c@m£ again.
“That’s a strong word you know, if there’s something wrong somewhere you think Bridget knows, then we have to pick this call and tell her about this, Victor said and picked up when Fred nodded in acceptance.
“Hello Fred I’ve been calling, how is he? Bridget asked.
“Ermm its Victor, he replied.
“Good morning Victor, plea-se are you with your friend now? She asked.
“Yes, he replied.
‘Oh thank God, but why is he not picking my calls? She asked.
“Ermm he’s not feeling too well and we are on the way to the hospital, Victor replied.
“He’s not feeling too well? Can I talk to him? She asked.
“He won’t hear you, where are you now? He asked.
“On the way, plea-se what’s wrong with Francis tell me the truth, she shakily said and Victor turned and looked at the unconscious Francis behind.
“Tell me something Bridget, what happened with Francis mother? Why should we be careful with her? He asked and she heaved.
“Its something I nee-d to be there to tell you, she replied.
“To tell you the truth Bridget, Francis was knocked down by a car and is currently unconscious. We are taking him to the hospital and stuck confused if we are to call his mother or not, Victor said.
“What! Oh my God! No no no no Francis no! She screamed and bur-st out crying and just immediately Nkiru call c@m£ on phone and Victor showed the call to Fred.
“Pick it up, Fred said.
“Bridget calm down everything will be okay, I’ll call you back plea-se help drop the call, Victor said and she dropped the call while he picked up Nkiru call.
“Good morning ma, Victor said.
“Good morning Victor, have you in anyway heard or seen your friend today? She asked.
“Yes, we talked this morning concerning Joe and we are actually on it looking for him, Victor replied.
“You mean you’re with Francis now? She asked.
“No, we spoke on phone. Any problem ma? Victor asked.
“Ermm nothing, just that he’s not at home and I thought he will be with you guys, she replied.
“Not yet but dont worry too much When he calls or come around I’ll let him know you were worried about him, Victor said.
“Thank you very much, she said and dropped the call and Victor heaved.
“What is really going on? Mark asked and they arrived at the hospital…………
Bridget immediately called her father crying to him concerning Francis,
“Where are you? Her father asked.
“On the way daddy on the way, plea-se daddy I don’t want him to die, she replied.
“Calm down nothing will happen to him. I’ll be on my way to the city very soon but I want you to st©p his mother from going close to him in the hospital when you get there, don’t let her see him until I get there, Her father said.
“Okay daddy I’ll equally tell the guys, she said.
“Good, I’ll be on my way while you keep me in t©uçh, calm down okay and keep praying for him. The devil is a bastard! Her father said and dropped the call.
Nkiru after dropping the call quic-kly contacted her new master,
“You better learn how to summon me, you can’t summon me twice in few hours I’m busy, her master said.
“Why can’t I see my son? She asked
“I took care of him, he replied.
“You took care of what? She asked.
“That boy nee-ds to die, he’s so pas-sionate to expo-se you and you don’t want that right? Her master asked.
“What! I told you not to hurt him how dare you! Nkiru shouted on him and he laughed loudly.
“Just in case you don’t know, you didn’t only inflict pains on him, you revealed your very true nature from the first to the last. He saw you laying with him from his teen till d@t£, he saw you clearly while in pains and that made him fled. He was on his way to his friends place to expo-se you when I took care of him, and in order to keep your secret he must die! Her master said.

“With his friends, they are taking him to the hospital and i think he will survive because he wasnt hit the way i planned but you have to go there and complete this, Her master replied and Nkiru shook her head crying.
“No no plea-se I beg you, plea-se let’s find another way I can’t do this. He may not remember anything that happened, yes let’s take away his memory and blame it on the accident, plea-se let’s do that, Nkiru pleaded kneeling down while her master looked at her.
“Okay fine, but you have to be with him in the hospital, its very important so I can complete the job or else there’s nothing i can do, he said.
“Thank you, but I don’t know where he is, his friends lied to me, she said.
“Yes they did, he said and told her the hospital and disappeared leaving Nkiru crying to herself pained he is going throu-gh so much alre-ady.
Francis was taken in and was attended to immediately as his friends quic-kly deposited money for his treatment. Still there Bridget called and they decided to pick up after ignoring her calls for a while as they ran around for Francis treatment.
“For heaven sake how is Francis? Bridget asked.
“He’s on treatment, don’t worry let’s just have hope and have faith he will survive this though we are yet to hear from the doctor, Fred replied and she sniffed.
“Where are you now? He asked.
“Almost there, will be in the city in the next 10 minutes, where’s the hospital? She asked and Fred told her.
“Okay, but plea-se don’t let his mother see Francis. plea-se take her away from him, she said.
“We didn’t tell her and there’s no way she can find out, Fred said.
“plea-se if you see her there, don’t let her in I mean it, she insisted and Fred looked at his friends who heaved speechless.
“But wait o, is there anything we nee-d to know? In fact do come abeg I’m not un-derstanding anything at all, Fred said.
“I’ll be there, Bridget said and dropped the call and Maria call c@m£ on phone immediately.
“I don’t un-derstand, when was I appointed the village gods of Francis family? Fred asked his friends fed up with everything.
“Let me help you, Mark said taking the phone and picked up.
“Good morning Fred, Maria greeted.
“Good morning sisi its Mark rather, Mark said and Maria laughed.
“Morning Mark, I’ve been calling your friend and he’s not picking up what’s wrong? Have you heard from him today? She asked.
‘Have you called your mom? Mark asked.
“Ahh countless times and its getting me more angry. I’ve booked a flight alre-ady and I’ll be there by noon but i want to be sure everyone is fine before I’ll have high blood pressure, Maria replied and Mark heaved.
“Babe, I think I can trust you with this one but plea-se don’t tell your mom, Mark said.
“What’s going on? She asked.
“Francis is in the hospital, he replied.
“Why? Is he sick? No nau we spoke last night what happened? She asked.
“He was knocked down by a car this early morning, whatever brou-ght him out by that time we don’t know but he’s receiving treatment as we speak, Mark replied and Maria weakly leaned herself on the wall mouth opened with tears streaming down her face.
“Hello! Are you there? Mark asked when he heard nothing.
“How is my brother? She tearfully asked.
“We haven’t heard from the doctor yet but I know Francis will survive this, my guy is strong, Mark said.
“Is my mom aware about this? She asked.
“No not yet, and plea-se don’t tell her, don’t ask me why but I’m begging for your un-derstanding. When you arrive here we will tell you all you nee-d to know, Mark replied.
“I have to be there, Maria said and dropped the call and ran out of her room and the doctor attending to Francis finally c@m£ out to meet them.
“Doctor plea-se how is he? Fred asked.
“Ermmm he’s lucky. He wasn’t hit in any vital p@rt of his b©dy but his legs isn’t too good. But not to worry he will be fine, the doctor replied.
“His legs? God I suspected that! Mark exclaimed hitting his fist on the wall.
“Its okay that’s why we are here, he will still be able to walk but what’s important now is he survived. When there’s life there is hope, the doctor said.
“Thank you doctor we really appreciate, the guys said and the doctor walked away but Victor mouth flew opened when he saw someone coming.
Fred and Mark had to look at the direction to see what distracted him but got shocked to see Nkiru coming.
“No way! How did she know? Fred asked ……….
