Francis got home and found no one at home. He c@m£ out from Joe room looking around as he dialed his mother number and she ignored being in a bad mood.
“Are you still thinking about it? One of her sisters asked.
“I don’t know why she’s moody when she said she only has 2 children in the first place, another said.
“Why should I be put in the situation of sacrifice? Nkiru asked.
“Not that its your first, besides this sacrifice is nee-ded and very important to make us strong knowing we lost power trying to withstand them. They are powerful and you nee-d to step up else you’ll be ruined, one replied.
“My husband was standing on my way then and again I wanted wealth so I had to give him out not that I loved him anyway. But in this case I feel somehow giving Joe away, Nkiru said.
“So is it Joe you love? The one you treat like trash? Common set him free and get over it. Think of the daughter in law your son has brou-ght for you, that’s more important, Another said and Nkiru hissed scratching her head.
“And as for him, he will surely hear it from me for putting me in so much stress because this is all his fault. With all the girls scattered about its trouble he choose to love so much, Nkiru said.
“Well maybe the days of your enjoyment with him is over, one said laughing and Nkiru angrily looked at her.
“Its not over yet and she won’t enjoy either, Bye, Nkiru angrily said getting up from the ground they sat.
Bridget who was in her room felt like throwing up and ran to the washroom where she threw out sli-ppery substance. She felt so light as she staggered out of her washroom to her be-d where everything that happened in the past days pla-yed itself.
“No! She shouted and ran back to the kitchen hvgging her mother who looked at her confused,
“What’s wrong? Her mother asked.
“I’m sorry mommy, what have I been doing? What did I do to Francis? What happened? Bridget asked.
“Calm down okay, the past days few days has not been good but are you okay? Her mom asked.
“Where’s dad? She asked.
“Praying for you, how do you feel? Her mom asked.
“I just threw up sli-ppery things in my washroom and I can remember things that I’ve done and again, I’ve been eating in my dream, she replied.
“Eating in the dream? Why didn’t you tell us? Her mom asked.
“I couldn’t remember anything then, or believe myself disrespecting dad, she replied.
“Or even sl@pping and breaking up with Francis, her mom added.
“What! God! Bridget shouted holding her head.
“You nee-d to talk to Francis, and I’m glad you’re back now, Her mom said giving her the phone and Bridget took it running to her room to call him up.
Francis who was trying to fix something up to eat in the kitchen heard his phone ringing and ran to it thinking its Nkiru returning his call but it was Bridget.
“He…….”Hello, love I’m so sorry, I don’t know what c@m£ over me plea-se I’m so sorry I cant explain all I did but I can never hurt you, Bridget shakily said.
“Love its okay, will you be coming down tomorrow? He asked.
“Yes yes, she replied.
“Alright alright, we’ll see then and talk more about this. I want you to have your rest and not worry about anything, He said.
“You mean you’ve forgiven me? She asked.
“Sure, I think this was our test to prove our love and we are re-ady to fight for us right? He asked.
“Yes, and I won’t give them such opportunity again never, she replied.
“That’s my girl, just apologize to your parents okay, I’m sure they will un-derstand, he said and she sniffed.
“I’ll do that, I feel so ashamed, she said almost to cry.
“Baby don’t, everything will be okay I’m sure of that and you know I love you, Francis said and she smiled.
“And I love you too, she said.
“I’ll talk to you later, Francis said throwing her a k!ssand dropped the call while Bridget turned and saw her mother by the door smiling at her.
“Come here dear, Her mom said and Bridget hvgged her.
“What will be will be, her mom said.
“I was so scared I lost him, was it that bad? Bridget asked.
“It was but its not important anymore because it didn’t change how he feels about you. Oya come help in the kitchen, her mom replied.
“Okay mommy I’ll be there soon, she said and her mom left……….
At 9pm Nkiru walked in and Francis looked to see if Joe is around also,
“What are you looking at? Nkiru asked after she replied his greeting.
“You’re not back with Joe? He asked.
“What do you mean? I left him at home, she replied.
“You did what? Joe isn’t at home and I thought you took him out or something since you refused picking up my calls, Francis replied.
“What do you mean by that? Nkiru asked going in to see for herself but Joe was not around.
“I don’t un-derstand mommy, where could Joe go to? Francis asked.
“And you’re asking me instead of going out to look for him! Nkiru shouted going out which Francis followed her.
No one saw Joe anywhere after spending 30 minutes in the streets asking around,
“How did he just disappear from the house with his state? Francis asked so worried while Nkiru leaned herself on her car lost in thought.
“Let’s go home, Nkiru said going into her car.
“Mommy go home when we are to report this to the station before it gets too late, Francis said.
“You’re free to do that, Nkiru said, got into her car and drove off to the head place.
She stormed into her ap@rtment and the head angrily sat up,
“What guts! The head shouted.
“Where is Joe? Nkiru shouted back.
“Don’t you know where your sacrificial imbecile is anymore? She replied.
“And that sacrifice is missing at home! Nkiru shouted.
“So? Is that my fault? You better go find him and remember you have 2 days to refill our power or else, you’ll be sorry, the head said.
“No you will be the one sorry, don’t forget I’m not that a weakling just because you’re opportuned to be our head! Nkiru shouted and the head stood up facing her eye ball to eye ball.
“You’re not the most deadly because you were able to victimize all your children. Know your boundaries before I’ll define it for you, The head said.
“We shall see, Nkiru said and left while the head hissed loudly.
“ru-bbish! She shouted sitting back and began to laugh…………..
Francis reported the case to the station and they promised to search for Joe the next morning,
“But what about now? Francis asked.
“Oga if your thing lost you dey see am for night? One asked and Francis shook his head and left the station and Bridget call c@m£ on phone.
“Hello love, he picked up and Bridget noticed his tone.
“What’s wrong and where are you now? She asked when she heard the horn of cars and Francis heaved.
“Joe is missing, he replied.
“Missing? How? She asked.
“I don’t know love. When I returned from your place I c@m£ home and saw him but left with Fred to his place when mom was insisting to know how my visit to your parents went but I lied. She was angry and so I left to discuss more with the guys about my decision to continue with you. I c@m£ home and didn’t find anyone at home, and when my mom returned I saw Joe was not with her and we have searched for him but no one knows where he is. I just left the station now after reporting the case of him missing, Francis narrated.
“Oh my God. Will they search for him today? Bridget asked.
“They are saying tomorrow, I’m so worried and confused now, Francis replied.
“Its past 10 alre-ady and its late. You know what? I’ll leave early in the morning so I can join you in the search okay, Bridget said.
“Thank you, and I’ve been trying the guys number but I think they are p@rtying. When they get to know about this they will sure hit the road in search of him, but for now i can only use the social media, Francis said.
“Joe is safe and he will be found, don’t worry too much okay, Bridget said.
“I’ll try, let me get a cab home, I’ll call you, Francis said.
“Okay no problem, Bridget said and dropped the call and she turned to her father who just returned from the prayer meeting he was.
“What happened? Her father asked when he told Bridget to call up Francis so he can talk to him after she apologized.
“Francis brother is missing, the one I told you is sick, she replied and Her father smiled.
“Dear what I saw while praying, you’re in for battle if you go in there for marriage, her father said.
“Dad plea-se don’t make me scared now, is it about Francis? Bridget asked.
“The ring Francis gave you disappeared, Her father dropped.
“Jesus! Bridget shouted and unconsciously jumped on the sofa.
“Hmmmm, the ring was just in the middle of I and my prayer team. While I was praying I was seeing a serpent, but when I open my eyes I’ll see a ring until it disappeared in the heat of the prayers. Now is Francis really who you think he is? Her father asked and Bridget mouth was opened looking at him shocked and her mother coughed.
“Ermm honey let’s not conclude yet, there may be more to what you just said. Maybe its not Francis, it could be another who knows?, her mom asked and her husband smiled.
“At this point I won’t talk much and there are things I nee-d to keep to myself and battle it out, goodnight, he said getting up.
“da…daddy what I’m I going to do now? I’ll be meeting with him tomorrow at least to help him find his brother and to talk about our misun-derstanding, Bridget said.
“I can’t say anything but be careful, her father said and left while Bridget sadly looked at her mom.
“Mommy what’s all this na? She asked hitting her legs and sat down.
“Did you just say you threw up sli-ppery things today? Her mom asked remembering what Bridget told her and she nodded.
” I felt so light and began to remember things I did, she replied.
“Then your father may be right, that ring was not a ring. You have to stay clear from Francis, her mom said.
“Mom plea-se we are in a haste to judge Francis now, okay give me a chance to look into this matter. Daddy alre-ady told me to be careful and my eyes will be open trust me, let me just see and talk to him, Bridget said.
“I’ve told you my own, stay away from him until we know what the matter is and be prayerful, her mom said and left and Bridget threw her hands up frustrated.
“Okay can this drama finish alre-ady, she said to herself…………
