Episode 28.
Fred and Francis arrived home, and just when Fred wanted killing the engine he looked at Francis trying ha-rd to put up a deceitful look on his Face,
“Remember don’t tell your mom about what happened, Fred whispered.
“My mom smells things from afar, I pray this works, Francis said opening the door and they stepped into the house together.
They met Nkiru coming down with a glas-s of wine and they greeted her,
“Welcome, so how did it go? She asked.
“Good good, her parents accepted the gifts, Francis replied smiling.
“What’s wrong? Your face looks swollen, were you crying? Nkiru asked staring into his eyes and he looked at Fred,
“Ahh momsy not at all, we were a little stressed up on the way because at a point we lost it, Fred c@mĀ£ in.
“StĀ©p lying to me, I know you more than you know yourself. What happened there? She sternly asked that Francis gave Fred a “I told you look”.
“Actually mom you’re right, I was crying and it didn’t go good, Francis said and Fred bowed his head.
“Tell me about it, did they disrespect you? She asked.
“Ermm not at all,just that Bridget had a little accident on her way back from school so I had to meet her up in the hospital. I was so nervous when I heard the news and began to cry, but she’s okay and will be discharged first thing tomorrow morning, Francis lied that Fred looked at him wondering where he dug such lie from in such a short notice.
“Bridget had an accident? She asked looking at both of them very closely.
“Yes ma, Francis sometimes behaves like a woman just because he loves her so much. He began to disturb himself unnecessarily but her parents promised to fix another d@tĀ£ with us when Bridget is fully recovered, Fred said and Francis nodded.
“I’m sad though but happy they finally got to see me and I gave them the gift I bought, they were happy, Francis added while Nkiru kept looking and smiled.
“If in anyway I find out you both are lying to me, I won’t forgive you, She said and left for her room.
“Mama common! Francis shouted but she didn’t look back.
“What’s up now? Fred whispered to Francis.
“Let’s talk elsewhere, Francis said holding Fred hands outside, they got into the car and drove off to their place.
“What’s wrong with you Francis? What is it about that girl that made me you look me in the eye to lie to me that way when I know and saw all that happened back there. Why do you love her so much, you’re risking me ahhh! Nkiru shouted as she watched him drove off and sat angrily on her be-d breathing ha-rd ………….
Bridget was still on her mother crying and fell asleep. Something fell from her hand and her mom picked it up to see it was the ring and her father walked in,
“She just fell asleep and the ring fell from her hand, Her mom said.
“Let me have it, Her father said taking it from her and looked at it closely.
“You’re going out? She asked and her husband heaved.
“I’m not comfortable and I nee-d to pray, he replied and she nodded.
“I’ll stay back then with her, no matter what has happened she nee-d me…. Us, and Francis. I just wish he comes back because she loves him so much, her mother said.
“I know and I don’t see the young man bad, he looks cool but I want to un-derstand why all this is happening when my daughter is suppose to be happy. Anyway I’ll be praying with this, let us not be ignorant of the device of the wicked ones remember? Her husband asked.
“Sure, I’ll support you here, she said and he gave her a pe-ck and hurried off.
Her mother sadly looked at Bridget cleaning her teary face as she sle-pt,
“Everything will be alright I promise you, this pains will be over soon and we will win this, she said to her keeping her hand on her forehead praying for her…………
Fred narrated all that happened to the guys when they arrived and everywhere was so still. For about 2 minutes no one was able to say a word after Fred finished, everyone was so confused.
“But which kind nons-en-se be na? This devil no dey rest? No tell me he no dey tire? Because this thing is not ordinary na lie! Victor angrily shouted and Fred heaved.
“E be like say you re-ad my mind finish talk this thing because I no wan accept say Bridget fit just wake up as a different person disrespect her parents or fit sl@p Francis like that, Fred said.
“But guy what do you think? If Bridget comes back will you accept her again? I know she don hurt you but…… I no sabi abeg i dey confused, Mark sadly said and Francis sniffed.
“I don’t know what to say either until she calls me. I was angry but now I’m not feeling that anger anymore rather I want to know why she’s acting that way, I want to hear her out. I keep seeing her pleading face when she told me she sees herself doing things she can’t do, probably I should be calm at that point to see what I can do to help her out but I retaliated and called her fake which fueled her anger the more, Francis said and scratched his head for a while.
“I want to talk to her, Francis said taking his phone.
“Guy calm down first make the tension cool, I think its too sudden to call, Victor said.
“Call her my guy, who knows if she wants to call you too but she’s scared, just call her, Mark said and Francis quic-kly dialed her number.
“He.he..llo, Francis stammered when she picked up.
“Hello Francis, her mother voice c@mĀ£ on phone.
“Good evening ma, he greeted.
“Evening Francis, hmmmm I really don’t know what to say but I want you to know we never wanted that to happen, she said.
“ma where’s Bridget? I want to know what’s going on, he said and she heaved.
“Bridget has been crying bitterly ever since you left and she has fallen asleep. Whatever my daughter said to you, plea-se forgive her. She didn’t mean any of that same way she doesn’t mean to disrespect us. Whatever is going on with her now, she nee-ds us Francis, she replied and he closed his eyes.
“Yes ma, though I was hurt and can’t believe her actions out there but there’s this one truth I can’t deny, and that is Bridget is a good lady and the only one I will ever love. plea-se tell her not to cry, tell her I’m always here for her and will love to see her again, Francis said.
“Its so nice to hear that, that will strengthen my daughter though she will be so ashamed of herself but I’ll try my best to let her know you still care. And ermmm, the ring is with me, she said.
“Ma plea-se just throw it away, I’ll engage her with a more Better one to start our relationsh!pafresh when she’s okay. I don’t want to remember the way she threw it on me, I want everything new with her, He said.
“Thank you Francis, thank you, and about what my husband said. I hope you know he said it out of anger and frustration, don’t put it to heart, she said.
“I know ma and I un-derstand. I just pray Bridget gets better and I’ll prove myself to you and your husband and show you just how much I love your daughter, he said.
“May the lord be with you, she said.
“amen and you too, bye ma, Francis said and dropped the call.
“You see we-tin i tell you? I know Bridget will be hurt with all that happened, I feel for her, Mark sadly said and Francis breathed out.
“I’m so happy to know whatever happened has not changed the way you feel for that girl, you’re a man! Fred said hitting Francis ma-king him to smile.
“That’s why you all nee-d to experience real love and stĀ©p joking around, Francis said.
“Common shut up there! Na who you wan counsel because you manage see love, Victor shouted.
“I don tell you o, catch love now and thank me later, Francis said and they laughed………..
Nkiru was in her room checking out her wardrobe when a creature appeared in her room.
She turned surprised to see him and his face wasn’t good at all,
“welcome great one, I hope there’s no problem? She asked with her head bowed.
“Can’t you feel it? His voice echoed and she looked at him.
“I don’t un-derstand, what’s wrong? She asked.
“The ring, I warned you it shouldn’t enter the wrong hands and you promised! He replied.
“The ring is with the girl, she said.
“No!!! The ring is with a wrong person at a wrong place, he said and suddenly Nkiru saw Bridget father and some group of people praying with the ring just in their middle. She looked at him scared and un-derstood his anger,
“What are we going to do now? She asked.
“Are you asking? I told you to leave her to me knowing I have my own way to strike but you refused because you don’t want her for your son. Just let them be, I have my way but you won’t listen, he said.
“Okay okay I’ve heard you, but the ring, it will cause us trouble knowing its not a real ring and will transform back to the snake it is with such heat of prayers, Nkiru said.
“It is not you to tell me that. Go now and meet your sisters while I withstand them, if not if it transforms into its real self, the little hold it had on the girl will be over and you’ll be expo-sed knowing you gave them the ring. Go now! His voice commanded and dissappeared and Nkiru quic-kly rushed out of her room pushing Joe away who stood on her way………..
Bridget slowly opened her eyes and sat up on the sofa her mother left her on. She turned and didn’t find her phone nor the ring and she left to look for her mother and found her in the kitchen,
“You’re awake? How are you feeling? Her mother asked and she ru-bbe-d her forehead.
“I’ll be fine, I can’t find my phone nor the ring, She said.
“Your phone is with me and ermmm Francis called, her mom said looking at her to see her reaction and she hissed.
“You’re not happy to hear that? I thought you were sad you made him leave? Her mother asked.
“So what? He left right? What do you expect Me to do? I don’t care about him anymore, she blurred out.
“Bridget! Francis is re-ady to forgive you despite what you did to him yet you’re not feeling sober, dear what’s wrong with you? Her mom asked.
“What’s wrong with me? Nothing, i am okay and that’s it, Bridget replied and left the kitchen and her mom sighed and took her phone to call her husband but remembered he must be praying. She heaved keeping it back worried Bridget is still the same and not even remorseful even after hearing Francis is re-ady to forgive her.
“God plea-se help us, her mom said……………
Nkiru was alre-ady with her sisters invoking and their head stĀ©pped,
“We must stĀ©p the power of the ring before we can let it out of that place, we have to do it now before its too late, she said.
“That means Bridget will be freed, I don’t want that, Nkiru said.
“You don’t want what! There is no time and You are selling this kingdom out and you nee-d to lose that power or you’ll suffer! You cant drag us to the mud because of your stubborness because we warned you! The head shouted.
“Fine do it! She will be one to suffer when she finally get married, I’ll squee-ze the living life out of her slowly, Nkiru angrily said and the head closed her eyes while Nkiru did same to break the power from the ring re-leasing Bridget.
Immediately the ring disappeared where it was to their presĀ£nce and they watched it returning to it original state and the head breathed in and their master appeared looking very fierce and they bowed their head.
“Have you seen that? Our pet is alre-ady weak and you would have been expo-sed. Next time let us do our thing, l@ycool and find the best opportunity to strike, let the girl walk into your house and we will l@your strategy, the man said.
“I’m sorry but I s-en-se she will be a big trouble for me so I wanted avoiding it before its too late not that i did anything wrong except none of you care about me, Nkiru said.
“I know that and this little show has proved you right, but then you will nee-d to step up and you nee-d to a pay a sacrifice! The master said and Nkiru looked at him.
“What I’m I to do? She asked.
“Your son, your son we nee-d him, he replied.
“Wait o, which of them? Nkiru asked.
“The one you first la-id with, that shouldn’t be too ha-rd for you to give out, he replied and disappeared and Nkiru ru-bbe-d her face and sighed.
“Why not free him from the miserable life his in now, just let him go because you’re in de-ep $h!t with your daughter in law to be, the head said and her sisters began to laugh wickedly while she weakly looked at them…………..
