Episode 11.
After a short prayer with Maria, they all chorused Amen and the pastor phone began to ring.
“Okay its my wife calling and I have to pick her up from the market, the pastor told them and picked up.
“Queen are you done? He asked.
“Okay give me 5 minutes I’ll be there, he said and dropped the call.
“Thank you so much pastor, they all said to him.
“No no no its nothing. But Maria, keep this between us today, don’t tell anyone about this, remember your enemy is someone close to you, the pastor said and Maria nodded.
“I’ve heard you sir, thank you, Maria said.
“Okay, so there’s a prayer meeting tomorrow in church, it will be a powerful prayer service. Care to join us? The pastor asked.
“Sure pastor we will be there, Sandra replied holding Maria hand.
“Alright, see you tomorrow then and may the lord be with you, he said.
“With you too sir, they chorused and Sandra husband followed him out while Sandra made Maria to sit down.
“Did the pastor tell you who is responsible for my problems? Maria asked.
“No he didn’t, he only said I was attacked by an angry spirit after he prayed for me, then he asked who was with me last night and I mentioned you, that’s why he said he wants to see you, Sandra replied.
“So the angry spirit is someone close to me? I don’t want to believe that, I know he knows who is responsible but he’s keeping it from me, Maria said and Sandra smiled.
“Maria that’s not how things work. Okay he has confirmed you are Innocent and for him to know who is responsible we nee-d to go into prayers, he’s no magician you know, Sandra said and her husband walked in.
“I’m so sorry sir for what happened, its my fault, Maria quic-kly apologized and Sandra rolled her eyes.
“No no there’s no problem with that as long as my wife is safe. What happened in church last night? He asked sitting down and Maria heaved.
“I don’t know how to title such a movie sir but it was shocking. I’ve never been embarras-sed my whole life like i was last night, Maria replied.
“Its alright, I’ve always been telling my wife that church is questionable to me, he said.
“Honey?, Sandra said.
“Yes, tell me how a pastor will be shut that way after a strong prayer session that went on? He has something fishy un-der his garment and that’s it, her husband said and Maria heaved.
“Whatever the case is i want to be freed from this whole mess, i don’t want this anymore, Maria said.
“You will, so tomorrow we all will be going to church right? he asked.
“Yes we will, Sandra replied smiling at Maria.
“Okay will i come here tomorrow? Maria asked.
“Yes but be early plea-se so we will go together, her husband replied.
“No problem sir, as an usher i am always early, Maria said.
“Alright, I’ll leave you ladies to talk then, he said standing up.
“No sir I’ll be leaving now. I nee-d to rest my head after a stressful night, I said getting up too.
“Oh sorry about that, he said.
“Thank you sir, okay friend see you tomorrow, Maria said giving Sandra a hvg and left the house………
Nkiru was just before her mirror seeing everything and she smiled.
“So she got herself a strong man this time to help her out huh? We shall see, she said and la-id on her be-d to rest.
Minutes later She heard Maria voice downstairs as she drove in, and she left her room to check it out when she noticed Maria walked in,
“You won’t believe it sister, mom just gave me the shock of my life, She heard Francis telling Maria and she sat down.
“Mama got you pissed off again? Maria asked.
“No not at all. So today I discussed starting a business since a job is not coming, Francis said and Maria sat up.
“Really? She asked.
“Yes, i saw s-en-se in what the guys discussed with me yesterday so I’m thinking about poultry, He replied.
“Great! A big time poultry business right? She asked.
“Exactly! Where i can even employ staffs to work for me while i become the boss managing the affairs! Francis shouted.
“Wow beautiful, but it really nee-d capital, what do you think? She asked.
“Well, that’s what I wanted telling you. So mom is giving me 4 million naira and one of her land as a site for the farm, Francis said.
“Its a lie! Maria shouted hitting Francis.
“why should it be a lie? Nkiru asked coming down the stairs and they looked at her.
“Mama is what I’m hearing true? Maria asked.
“First where are you coming from? She asked.
“Ohhh mama always diverting but i told you na? And i promised i wont stay long which I’m back but you’re still asking. So is Francis saying the truth or is he just pu-lling my legs? Maria asked.
“We’ll since he has decided to start a big time business, its good and I’ll give him my support, She replied.
“With 4 million naira and a land? Maria asked.
“I see it as a big time investment that will be far better than him working for people when he can be his own boss. He can expand it if he wants, Nkiru replied and Maria screamed hvgging her.
“You’re the best mama you’re the best! Gosh i cant believe this, Maria said and she smiled.
“You cant believe what? Have you ever asked a favour from me and i declined? She asked.
“No mom that’s why i said you’re the best na, in the whole world in fact, Maria said giving her a pe-ck.
“Eh I’ve heard, just know i always have my children back anytime and day, she said.
“Awwwnnn we are so lucky, Maria said sitting down with Nkiru.
“So sister what are you supporting me with? Francis asked.
“Support kwa, 4 million no do you? Maria asked.
“Hiannn sister you promised o, besides that money will go into developing the site and everything, it will finish o, Francis said with a frown.
“If not i promised, you are lucky i did because you would have managed it like that. Well I’ll give you 1 million naira out of my promise mind, Maria said
“Oh bless me Christ! I’m just surrounded with sweet sweet people, Francis shouted falling on Maria.
“Beware of diabetics sha, Nkiru said.
“Thank you sister i really appreciate, Francis said hvgging her.
“You’re welcome, just make good use of the money wisely okay, you don’t have to lose this one, Maria said.
“Cross my heart, i promise to put in my best and you all will see it at the t©p soon, Francis said.
“You sure will dear, Maria said and yawned.
“Oya go and sleep waka waka, Nkiru said and she laughed.
“mama see you later, Maria said getting up
“Thanks a million times sis! Francis shouted but she waved her hands at him and left for her room………
The next day Maria rushed out of her room well dressed for church but met Nkiru coming out also dressed,
“Ahh mama where to? Maria asked.
“See question o, is today not Sunday again? She asked back.
“No na but i cant remember the last time you dressed up for church, its been years, Maria replied.
“Okay na, so today i am following you to church any problem? Nkiru asked and Maria mouth flew open……….

“Wait, you’re even following me? Maria asked and Francis slowly c@m£ down to see Nkiru seriously arranging her hand bag and Maria looking surprised.
“What’s wrong sis? He asked.
“Help me ask her o, I felt the glory of God and decided to join her to church but she’s acting funny, Nkiru replied.
“Sis why? Francis asked.
“Its okay if she wants to go to church….. “Simple English I am following you, so let’s start going na, Nkiru cuts in.
“Mama I am not going to my church today that’s it, Maria replied and her mom quic-kly dropped her bag looking at her.
“Maria what’s all this na? When did you turn to a church pr©st!tût£over night? Nkiru asked.
“Mama its for prayers, she replied.
“Was your church not praying? Or Is it not the same God that we are praying to? Then why the wandering around in churches? Nkiru asked and she checked the time.
“Mama I am not wandering around, its only an invitation, she replied.
“Oh invitation indeed! Today is Sandra, tomorrow will be her village people, next tomorrow will be your boss since you have foolishly given yourself out as if you have a problem so you can be used. Just look at you Maria, look at what you’re doing to yourself, Nkiru said and Maria heaved.
“You wanted following me ba? Oya come let’s go I’m alre-ady late, Maria said.
“My friend go alone! You think I will join you in such prostitution, Nkiru shouted.
“Mama! It has not come to that na, Francis said.
“Yes it has because I know all these churches and what they do. When she keeps jumping this way soon they will call me a witch, or is it not true? And that’s what she wants, that’s what your sister wants, Nkiru said and began to cry and Maria heaved rolling her eyes as Francis consoled her.
“Sister mama is right. Every mother in Nigeria now are called witches, is that what you want for mama? Francis asked.
“No one called Mama a witch and no one will dare try, I’m only there for prayers and she’s finding it ha-rd to un-derstand me, plea-se I’m running late for this drama, Maria angrily said and left.
“Have you seen your sister? Oh God vindicate me! Nkiru cried more.
“Mama st©p worrying yourself, do you want me to take you to church? Francis asked.
“I don’t want again I’ve lost my appetite, I’ll go take my rest since my own daughter has decided to……… “Mama go have your rest okay, I’ll take care of breakfast today, Francis cuts in leading Nkiru to her room………..
Maria dropped from the cab and rushed in meeting Sandra and her husband alre-ady dressed,
“I’m very sorry for keeping you waiting, Maria apologized.
“No problem, we can still meet up. Baby let’s go, Sandra husband said holding his wife w@!st and they left to the car.
Nkiru sitting before her mirror smiled,
“He’s handsome and looks familiar, anyway I’ll love the show afterwards, she said as she watched them drove off.
Series of prayers was prayed while Nkiru watched thinking of what to do.
“Every tormentor of my life and destiny…… Fire!
Nkiru heard Maria prayed and smiled.
“Silly little girl, you all are so weak and gullible and i was busy worrying. But i have to separate you and this Sandra, She said and left her mirror.
Hours later Maria returned and met Nkiru in the sitting room,
“Mama good morning, Maria greeted but she ignored
“Mama service was great today, i wish you c@m£ you would have enjoyed it, Maria said sitting with her and Nkiru smiled.
“Of course i can see it, welcome, Nkiru said.
“Mama look, no one can even dare call you a witch, i will make sure I frustrate such a pastor with my mouth before i leave, so don’t worry about it okay, Maria said taking her hand.
“I’ve heard you, Francis prepared breakfast, Nkiru said.
“Oh what? She asked.
“Oatmeal, Nkiru replied.
“Uhmmm okay talk to you later, Maria said giving her a pe-ck and left for her room while Nkiru looked at her shaking her head……….
The next day Maria was at work with her colleagues busy when Sandra husband walked in,
“See who’s coming, Maria who saw him first said alerting his wife.
“Awwwn darling, miss me alre-ady? Sandra said leaving to give him a hvg but he rudely walked away from her.
“Darling? Sandra called out shocked but surprisingly he went to Maria,
“My love, where have you been? He asked and Maria j£rked.
“Excuse me, your what? Maria asked and looked at her friend whose mouth was opened in shock.
“Sandra he’s joking right? Maria asked her.
“Honey what’s going on? What’s wrong with you you’re embarras-sing me, Sandra calmly said holding him but he pushed her away.
“I’ve told you to stay clear from me didn’t i? Its Maria i love, i knew her first before you f0rç£d your way into my life, but its over now! He shouted.
“What! Maria shouted.
“What are you talking about? What has come over you? Sandra asked.
“Uhmmm ladies and gentleman, this isn’t a good place for this, the manager will be here soon so plea-se take this misun-derstanding out of the premises, thank you, a lady said to them while everyone was just watching.
“No this is not happening, Sandra said taking her bag and walked out in tears.
“Sandra wait, Maria said and attem-pted to follow her but he held her back.
“Cant you see my love I’m back, I’m back love for you, he said.
“Get your hands off me! Maria shouted and ran out meeting up with Sandra when she was about entering her car.
“Sandra wa….wait plea-se! What’s going on? Maria said st©pping her from getting in.
“What’s going on? You’re seriously asking me that? Sandra asked with tears streaming down.
“I don’t get it, That cant be your husband right? Maria asked.
“That is my husband that your bad luck and evil spirit has ruined! What I’ve i ever done to you that you want to destroy my marriage? My 4 years of marriage Cyril has never raised his hands on me, but today he woke up aggressive and saw me a stranger. He called your name and i thought he was drun!kor something and left for work thinking he will get his s-en-ses back. But no he c@m£ here embarras-sing me and chose you over me in public. What did you do to him you witch! Sandra shouted and held Maria violently and Cyril ran to them.
“If you dare raise your hand on her again I’ll kill you, Cyril said seriously telling his wife and she sniffed.
“We shall see, Sandra said and drove off while Maria stood in great fear shivering with cold and Cyril held her,
“I will never leave you, i will fight for us love, he said.
“Why are you doing this to me? We were done years ago before i even knew Sandra. Not once have we discussed about our past when I found out you married her, why now Cyril why this? Maria asked with tears streaming down.
“I don’t un-derstand or can remember what happened then, but all i know is i cant live without you and i cant help it. plea-se forgive me love for everything you’ve been throu-gh, the spell is broken and I’m back trust me, Cyril said going on his knees holding Maria hands.
“No just st©p this! Go back to your family! Maria shouted ad ran in…………….
