CHAPTER 20
✧ IS HE REALLY DYING? ✧
“That…isn’t real right?” Elle asked with shaky voice moving back while Penny slowly got out of the water.
Elle gasped more when her tail slowly transform into legs.
She quickly took her gown and wore it back.
“My God!” Elle covers her mouth with her palms.
“This…this is big news! Oh my God! Did I just caught a mermaid? Seriously??” She snickers in disbelief bringing out her phone.
“Elle” Penny’s soft voice came out and Elle snapped her head up to her.
“How do you know my name?” She asked.
“I know you…you’re always with the godd_ no with Margaret” Penny replied while Elle only noodle.
“Elle look at me” Penny said in a complete different voice now and Elle obeyed.
“Look into my eyes…you didn’t see me earlier” she said.
“I didn’t see you earlier” Elle repeated after her.
“You know nothing”
“I know nothing”
“You never saw anything”
“I never saw anything” Elle replied accordingly obviously hypnotized.
She continue standing there in a daze while Penny sighs.
“I’m sorry” She mutters before leaving.
Just as she left Elle came back to her senses.
“What is this? Why am I here? Oh sh*t! Margaret must be waiting” She also ran out of there while Margaret who was in a hiding brought down her phone with shaky hands. She had actually saw everything and had filmed them.
“She…is a monster” she mutters to herself.
Penny got outside and look around.
The place was awfully quiet and there was nobody around. She brought out her phone to call Rowan but just then someone suddenly knocked her down from behind. Immediately, she passed out.
ROWAN’S HOUSE.
For almost an hour now, Rowan had been trying to take out the orb out from Penny but it seems useless. It’s like she got stronger, he had drained out his power but still unable to get it out. Resulting to the final way, he brought out the dagger he had wanted to use the other day but just as he was about stabbing her with it a great force pushed him back strongly.
“Argh!” He groans picking himself back up. He moves back to her but then he could see some light emitting from her chest. It was like a strong barrier protecting the orb.
“What the heck!” He grunts panting heavily.
LATER.
Penny grunts sitting up. She looks around and her eyes landed on Rowan who was sitting on the couch not far from her with a glass of wine in his hand.
“Handsome man” She called slowly.
“You’re awake” He said dryly taking a sip of the wine.
“What…happened? Why am I here?” She asked looking around.
“I found you sprawled on the ground so I brought you here” He replied expressionlessly.
“Oh…really” She touches her neck which seems to hurt.
“How long was I unconscious for?”
“For a pretty long time”
“But are you okay handsome man?” She asked when she noticed he wasn’t being his normal self.
“I am…go. It’s pretty late” He said taking another sip while she nodded standing.
“Then…I’ll leave” She said and he just drink his wine.
Penny gave him one last look before exiting the place and immediately she did, Rowan threw the glass of wine in his hand on the wall angrily.

“Young man…” Penny called slowly sticking her head in.
“Come in” Jason’s voice came and she pulled herself into his room.
“I’m sorry” She said keeping her head down playing with her fingers as well.
“I went to the location site and couldn’t find you”
“I…” She sighs.
“Where have you been? With who? What have you been doing? Tell me everything in details”
“Are you angry at me young man?”
“Then should I be happy you’re coming back home at this time?? You didn’t even picked up the phone. You must be busy having some fun uh?”
“I’m really really sorry young man. Forgive me this once uh?” She pleaded while he stood up and face her.
Penny pouted her lips while he fli-cker her forehead.
“Ouch!” She rubs it.
“Did you meet other men behind me?”
“It was only handsome man?”
“Is he more goodlooking?”
“Of course you are””
“Then why do you keep calling him handsome?”
“Uhh…” She itch her head while he sighs.
“Sit” He ordered and she did. He went through his drawer and brought out a small box.
“What is that young man?” She asked as he went on one of his knees taking her right leg.
“Don’t you dare take this off…if you do you’re really dead” He said while she nodded smiling.
“Wow…it’s so pretty young man” She gushed looking at the anklet he just worn on her leg.
“Call me by my name”
“Jason” She grins while he smiles back.
“Don’t go anywhere else without me…I won’t just forgive you next time” He caution while she noodle.
“Have you eaten?”
“No..”
“Let’s go get something to eat” he stood sweeping her off the ground before she could stand. She gasps.
“Come on…I’m gonna make you something super delicious”
NEXT DAY.
“Young man are we going on a date again?” Penny asked excitedly.
“Yeah we are”
“Really really…wow I’m so happy” She gushed grinning ear to ear while Jason held her face.
“You…don’t smile like this to other guys”
“Why?”
“Because I’ll get jealous” He twitch her nose while she squeezed her face.
He smiles but that died down the moment he felt pains in his chest again.
“Young man…is something wrong?” She asked noticing his change in expression.
“Uh…ohh nothing…wait here I’ll just grabbed something upstairs” He said in a rush and ran upstairs.
Penny sighs and beams.
Her phone buzzed and she check it only to see a message from Margaret.
????”Come see me” ????
“Why would she wanna see me?” She thought ignoring the message but just turned another popped in.
This she could not ignore as it was a video of her.
Her phone fell from her hands as she saw the video she staggers backwards and almost fell.
The phone beeped again and she bent taking the phone from the floor.
“Come to the agency right now…you’re dead if you come late” ???? another message popped in.
She looks around for a while shaking before dashing out of the house.
Jason slump on the floor the moment he got to his room.
“Ahh…” He groans in pain holding onto his chest tightly.
The pain was immeasurable. His veins was already coming out as he felt his chest tightening by the moment.
He forces himself up and locked himself up in the bathroom opening up the shower.
He clatter his teeth trying to hold back shouting.
STAR ENTERTAINMENT.
“MARGARET!!” Penny rushed into the waiting room to find Margaret along with her manager Elle discussing.
Margaret saw her and furrows her brow.
“Oh you! You…” Elle pointed at Penny who stood breathless by the door.
“What was I gonna say…you…yesterday you…ohh what is it really?” Elle scratches her hair trying to remember.
“Elle…can you excuse us…we’ve got something really important to discuss” Mag said to Elle.
“Oh…okay…” Elle gave Penny a look before excusing them.
“Shut the door” Mag ordered taking her seat.
Penny closes the door and rushes to her.
“Goddess!”
“I guess you ran over after seeing the video” Mag said while Penny gulp down nothing.
“That…I can explain…just listen to me and_”
“Stop right there!” Mag stopped her while she did. She stood up and walk around her.
“I made some research about you overnight…and I think I’ve known some things about you also. You…don’t think of erasing my memories like you did to Elle…I won’t let you”
“Mag wait i_”
“Stop! I’m not the only one with this video…the moment you try anything silly with me…the other person who has it is gonna send it to Jason immediately. And not even only him…you’re gonna be caught and your dirty secret will be revealed to the whole world” Mag threatens while Penny gulps hard.
“What I want is simple…stay away from Jason…then I can at least turn a blind eye to this for a while”
“What?”
“Leave Jason. Disappear from his life completely…and I won’t come after you”
“No…no…i can’t…I can’t leave Jason…i can’t leave him” She shakes her head but Margaret landed a hot slap across her face. She gasped holding her cheek.
“You can’t! You can’t leave him!”
“Margaret just give me a little time…I’m gonna explain everything to him myself…just give me till next week everything will end by then” She held unto her clothes while Margaret pushed her away.
“You’re really heartless aren’t you? Wait? Wait?? so he could die before he found out what you really are!!” Margaret lashed at her.
“What?”
Margaret march to her pulling her hair. She wince holding her hand.
“How about just letting everyone know now…what kind of a monster you are!” Mag grits pulling her towards the door by her hair while she resist.
“No Margaret no…” She keeps resisting but when Margaret wasn’t ready to listen she had no choice but to use her power on her.
“Ah!” Mag wince as she fell to the floor with a thud.
“You…you really can’t hide the fact that you’re monster uh!” Margaret fired.
“Just give me little time…I’m gonna become human soon. After that I promise to tell him everything! I’ll reveal everything to him so just give me some time please!”
“How can I give you time when he’s gonna die before then!” She announced confusing Penny.
“What…do you mean?”
“Are you really asking because you don’t know? For you to become human he has to die everyone knows that!”
“Die…why…why would he?”
“You really don’t know! Hey it’s common sense…you’ll have to sacrifice him to become human just like the little mermaid isn’t that right? You mermaids…that’s what you do! You think I’m just gonna sit and watch you kill him because of your selfishness! Uh!!” She yelled at her face while Penny couldn’t find a word to say back.
“I’m giving you a warning…spill everything out now…it’s not too late to do so” Mag warned while Penny only shakes her head.
“No…no…that is not true…no…” She pushed Margaret away running out of there.
“HEY! COME BACK HERE!!” Margaret shouted after her.
JASON’S HOUSE.
Jason wash his face and stare at himself in the mirror.
“Jason…what’s going on with you?” He mutters panting hard.
“Am I sick or something?” He asked himself.
“Weirdo! Weido!! Peninah!” Jason called as he got downstairs only not to find anyone.
“Is she trying to play hide and seek with me right now? Seriously…this is childish. Hey weirdo come out! We’re gonna be late for our date!” He called again looking around only not to receive any response.
“Where is she? ” He itch his hair looking around.
“Peninah!!…what the heck! Where has she gone to this time?” He brought out his phone dialing her number.
ROLEX BAR.
Penny entered the bar looking disheveled.
Luckily, Aviva saw her before Rolex could so she quickly took her back outside.
“Hey Penny what are you doing here! Boss can’t see you”
“Aviva…I heard something strange…that young man is going to die” Penny said with no expression on while Aviva’s eyes widened.
“What?” She asked.
“I don’t want to believe it but…I just needed to confirm it from you since you would know”
“Penny…”
“Tell…me Aviva…is it true? Will…youn…no…jason…will he die for me to become human?”
“Penny…where do you hear that from?”
“Just tell me! Is that…the purpose for the blue drink? Is he really dying?” She ask with shaky voice while Aviva nodded reluctantly.
“Ahh…” Penny’s legs weaken and she almost lost her balance.
“Penny…” Aviva made to hold her but she whisk her hand away.
“No…that can’t be…it’s impossible…” She shakes her head.
“Penny please listen to me first…”
“No…NO YOU’RE LYING!!” She pushed Aviva away from her and ran out of there.
“Penny! Penny!! Pen!!” Aviva shouted after her but then heard a clapping behind her. She looks back and saw Rowan coming out from a corner.
“No wonder…now I find the true way…of taking out the orb” He smirks at Aviva.
