It’s not love
Episode 5
In few seconds, Musa returned with ra-phael, he tried to revive his wife, the way he could but all to no avail. Great fear overshadowed him as he watched his wife lie lifelessly on the cold floor.
“Bridget! Bridget!” he screamed but she wasn’t showing any sign of revival. When ra-phael figured that things had gone out of hand because Bridget wasn’t responding to his calls, he carried her to his car and speedily drove off to the nearest hospital in sight.
Few minutes later, they arrived at a hospital not far from their house. ra-phael hurriedly carried his wife on his hands and headed towards the emergency ward that was clearly in sight. Immediately he entered inside the ward, he alarmed the nurses and doctor on duty to help attend to Bridget. Without wasting time, the nurses started administering treatment on Bridget and told ra-phael to wait at the reception.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t wait because he had other plans, who will believe that ra-phael who was so possessive of his wife, had a lover, for the pas-sed four years ra-phael had a lover who bore him two sons, her name was Stephanie, that morning he wanted to be with his sons as he had promised his lover that he was going to spend “Boxing” day with his two sons.
What an unreasonable and heartless man ra-phael was; so he would rather go to stay with his mistress for the whole day with the excuse that he wanted to be with his sons, than stay with his unconscious wife who was seriously battling with her life in the emergency ward. Too bad!
To make matter worst, he left their little daughter with the security man. Oh what a horrible father, it was obvious now that the reason he had caged Bridget was because he doesn’t want her to find out about his double life.
ra-phael left stylishly without informing the nurses or the doctor but thank God, Bridget’s parent were worried when they didn’t hear from her all morning. They had tried to get ra-phael on the phone but he wasn’t taking their calls.
Bridget’s parent c@m£ over to the house and was so shocked to find their grand daughter with the security man, they almost had heart attack when the security man told them about what had happened to Bridget.
The aged couple inquired about the hospital’s address from the security man and the next minute they left with their grand daughter to the hospital where their daughter was admitted.
When they arrived the hospital, they were disappointed when the nurse narratted how ra-phael left with out notice. In other words, he abandoned thier daughter.
All throu-gh that day, Bridget battled for her life and all the medical officials that were as-signed to her did all they could to revive her that day but she wasn’t responding to treatment. so many medical test were run on her, They put her in coma and prayed that she hopefully wakes up the next day. All f!ngerswere crossed as everyone waited for a miracle to happen the following day.
When Bridget’s parents inquired about what had happened to their daughter, they were shocked with the doctor’s reply
“Bridget had lost a pregnancy and there’s a possibility that she might not concieve again, she also lost so much blood,. It’s like she was un-dergoing so much stress and tension, as she had developed hypothyroidism. And when she wakes up there’s a possibility that she would develop a severe pelvic pain but that will be taken care of, all we want Is for her to wake up soon”
On the other hand, ra-phael had arrived at his mistress house and pretended as though his wife wasn’t in the hospital fighting for her life because of him. He pla-yed with his two sons, forgetting that he had left his first daughter with the security man.
The most annoying thing was that ra-phael wasn’t even bothered. The height of unbothered attitude he exhibited after that incident was quite disappointing, considering the fact that Bridget was his lawfully wedded wife.
Now it was obvious that he was a cheat and a liar and that’s why he always thought that Bridget was lying to him.
In the early hours of the next day, the doctors c@m£ to check up on Bridget, but she was still unconscious. Bridget’s father was at the hospital all night while Bridget’s mother went home with her grand daughter. Bridget’s father, closely observed how the doctors and nurses, gave his daughter some medications and he checked up on her from time to time. At around 10am the next day, Bridget regained consciousness and Bridget’s father called his wife to give her the good news.
Episode 6
Soon, Bridget gradually recovered but her health detoriated when she learnt that she had lost her unborn child, she had no idea that she was even pregnant in the first place. She wept bitterly when she learnt that she might not conceive again. Bridget knew why she lost her unborn child, ap@rt from the battering she received from her husband, she was always tensed and afraid.
Bridget was always afraid of the person she sle-pt next to every night-her husband, She was worn down completely, she was filled with so much anxiety. She always had stomach issues, panic attacks and was On the verge of insanity.
She wept so bitterly when her parents and even the nurses testified that her husband haven’t come to check on her, ever since she was admitted. Her parents advised her to be strong and they consoled her.
It was from that day, that Bridget realized that she would never be happy with ra-phael. Bridget feared that he might kill her one day and she had also realised that their marriage had gotten to a dangerous level
Ever since Bridget woke up from her unconsciousness, it was like her s-en-ses were awoken too. Because she began to see herself in the pain of her parent’s eyes.
“I deserved to love myself again, if not for anything but for my parents that love me so much and I have a daughter who nee-ds me” she had told herself. She had realized that her life was miserable and her marriage to ra-phael was harming her.
Bridget had realized that she wasn’t setting a good example to her daughter. “What if I ended up dead, what will had become of my daughter, she would feel so disappointed in me when she would learn that I continued to tolerate her abusive father till I lost my life, enough is enough, if I continue to tolerate this, I will be s£nding a message to my daughter that it is okay for a man to be disrespectful and abusive” Bridget had thought.
Few days later, Bridget was discharged from the hospital, but she returned to her parent’s house instead. she had told herself that if ra-phael apologises this time, that he will set her conditions or else she would leave her toxic marriage. She waited for days for ra-phael to show up but he never did.
One day she got a text message from him instead
“Thank God I beat the bastard child that you are expecting out of your wo-mb, I will s£nd your belongings and a divorce agreement across to you, I can’t continue to stay married to a loosed woman like you, you are not only a liability to me but a headache, you are not even trustworthy, I think it’s high time we end this ru-bbish we call marriage. I have been longing to tell you something, For your information I have two sons with my mistress, she is a very obe-dient woman who is also faithful, and it’s high time I make her my wife” ra-phael’s text message re-ads.
After re-ading the text message, Bridget broke down in tears.
Soon Life moved on, Bridget and ra-phael were divorced and he quic-kly married his lover.
Bridget felt so awful when she learnt about the wedding but soon she gradually began to accept the reality. “It’s better this way, I’m free at last” She had told herself.
Even though Bridget acted strong but de-ep down she was broken.
She was trying everything she could to move on but it looked as if it will take a long time for Bridget to heal.
She began to fix her life, she got a job and began to rebuild her life and career.
one day, Bridget was returning from work when she ran into Gideon.
Gideon was so excited to see her again, The first thing Gideon noticed as they conversed was the ring that was missing in her f!nger and he also noticed that Bridget was looking so beautiful.
Gideon felt so concerned about Bridget, when he found out that Bridget’s marriage had hit the rock.
They exchanged phone numbers and from day that a beautiful friendsh!ptook off.
Gideon would always call to find out how She was faring.
Gideon somehow felt responsible for Bridget’s pain that he put it upon himself to make her happy. It was so obvious that they both like each other alot.
Ever since Gideon and Bridget bec@m£ so close, She began to feel better and happy again.
On the other hand, Bridget had realised that she liked the vibe and the positive energy she gets whenever Gideon was around . Gideon makes her so happy.
Their friendsh!pwas totally remarkable. Even Bridget’s parents were beginning to imagine something bigger.
“They look so good together”Bridget’s parents had told each other. But when they remembered all that their daughter had went throu-gh, and how it was wrong for her to jump into another relationsh!pimmediately, they held their horses.
With the look of things, it seemed as though Bridget and Gideon were gradually falling for each other without even knowing yet. Due to the fact that they still consider themselves childhood friends, they had to conceal some emotions within.
Episode 7
A year later, Bridget began to realize that she was in love with her friend- Gideon. She had to talk to herself and try to calm herself down because the bu-tterflies in her stomach had alre-ady started dancing for joy.
One-day, Gideon invited Bridget out for a d@t£,
After contemplating for a while, Bridget agreed to go on the d@t£ with him.
The d@t£ venue and time was agreed upon and it bec@m£ official. The d@t£ was scheduled for Saturday so Bridget was free as she doesn’t go to work on Saturday.
The D-day finally c@m£ and they met at the appointed place for the d@t£. One look at Bridget and Gideon suddenly bec@m£ nervous, he had a plan and within, Gideon wished that everything goes according to his expectations. The d@t£ started off on a good note and they had a nice meal for lunch. After they were done eating, a conversation started.
“Bridget, i have been wanting to ask you this question, will you ever get married again?”Gideon asked. That question made Bridget cold and nervous, as the word “marriage” had began to scare her. Gideon figured she was a bit hesitant to answer his question so he continued
“Bridget, I Don’t know how to say this…. but There’s something I want to say but I Don’t know if you will un-derstand me but first answer my question”
Bridget who was curious to hear what was in Gideon’s mind responded
“Gideon, marriage scares me now, you know what I have been put throu-gh, if there’s anything you want to say, plea-se tell me, I promise to be un-derstanding” she added.
The moment of truth c@m£ and Gideon knew that there was no turning back. he took a de-ep breath and said;
“Bridget, I can only imagine all you have gone throu-gh in your first marriage. I’m so sorry that you had to go throu-gh all you went throu-gh in the hands of your ex husband and it’s sad to know that your ex-husband let a beautiful and nice woman like you to go but that’s his lost, Bridget I have fallen for you, I’m in love with you, would you give me a chance to show you that love wasn’t supposed to hurt, love wasn’t supposed to be scary or ha-rd to talk about, plea-se give me a chance to prove my love, Bridget I really nee-d you in my life, You have brou-ght so much happiness in to my life, you are a nice person with a good heart and such attributes are very rare in our world today. On this note, I’ll like to ask you to be my girlfriend, then we’ll see how things goes with time, I promise I will take things slow and I won’t rush you into doing things that you Don’t want to do” he said.
Gideon was so elated when Bridget accepted to be his girlfriend.
His friendsh!pproposal was a good first step for them as they seemed to care alot about each other. Gideon obviously didn’t want to rush things because of Bridget’s hurtful past experience. He figured it’s best to take things slowly and carefully work his way up to the t©p.
Life had began to seem fair to Bridget as she now had a fantastic man like Gideon who genuinely cared so much about her. Each day, the love they had in their heart for each other started skyrocketing.
Ever since Bridget started going out with Gideon, she suddenly began to forget about her past and of course ra-phael. She st©pped crying about her failed marriage and gradually began to dream new dreams.
On the other hand, ra-phael had began to miss her.
Stephanie, his new wife was the opposite of Bridget, she couldn’t allow ra-phael to control her.
Stephanie was a p@rty bu-tterfly, she loves attending p@rties and even clubs. Most night Stephanie will leave their two sons with ra-phael to p@rty all night. ra-phael had realized that Stephanie was nothing like Bridget, the last time he tried to raise his hands on Stephanie for staying out late, Stephanie almost broke his head with a wine bottle.
ra-phael bec@m£ so terrified when he found out that Stephanie smokes marijuana, it was so obvious that Stephanie can’t be controlled, instead she had began to control ra-phael. Everything seemed not be going well for ra-phael as he was now living in fear.
The first time ever that he raised his hands on Stephanie, ra-phael couldn’t believe his eyes, when Stephanie’s brothers showed up that same day, with out notice, they tied him up and gave him the greatest beating of his life.
There’s a popular adage that’s says when a woman marries two husbands she would know who loves her the most. But in the case of ra-phael that Adage has proved to be true as he had began to realize his mistakes. He wished he never took Bridget’s loyalty for granted, he wished he treated her more nicely.
Each day, ra-phael began to un-derstand how Bridget felt all those years, When he banned her from catching up with her friends and family.
Stephanie had done the same thing to him. Stephanie gets so furious, whenever ra-phael’s friends or family members visited.
The last time ra-phael’s friends visited, Stephanie insulted them and walked them out.
It offended ra-phael’s friends that ra-phael stood there and watched his wife insult them.
They had no idea that ra-phael was only protecting himself because if he had intervened, Stephanie would had invited her brothers to beat him up as usual.
Stephanie’s brothers were hvge, fit, well connected and crazy. To crown it all,
They are well trained bo-xers and ra-phael can’t even dare to challenge them.
