CHAPTER 49
“Let’s get you home” Candy said obviously disappointed.
She took the car keys and took him home and throughout everything they didn’t utter a word to each other.
Candy flag down a taxi on getting out of his house.
“Isn’t the night view beautiful…the air is so fresh also…this made me remember when I was still in my prime…every night I’d snuck out to see my beloved we would walk on the bridge at night…tells stories play games and tells each other how much we love ourselves…” The cab man paused and giggles.
“Miss…isn’t it a wonderful feeling to be in love…lately I think I’ve been getting that feeling I used to get then in the past…if my wife heard such a thing I would probably become an eunuch instantly…she can be such a brute…what a cute old lady…I remember when we had our__” the cab man stopped talking when he was suddenly interrupted with a sudden sob from the back seat.
“Miss…are you alright? Is something wrong?” He asked concern but Candy only cries more not minding him.
The cab man eventually kept quiet and played some music which only made her cry harder.
On getting home, she had already stopped crying but her make up had been washed down and she looked very tired and dishevelled…terribly horrible.
Stepping inside, she threw her bag probably somewhere in the East. Her shoes went to the south.
She dip her hand beneath her dress and un clipped her bra. Bringing it out, it went over the counter.
She dragged her legs lazily like someone whose last strength seems to have been drained out to her bed and lay on it covering herself with the duvet.
DAYS LATER.
“The popular model MJ has finally made her decision to take over her father’s company. She announced resigning from modelling to continue working in stead of her father Mr David Jordan whose health is unstable at the moment…” The newscaster rambled on and Clark turned off the TV.
“She eventually did it…” He mumbles to himself taking a sit.
He thinks for a while then got up from the couch
“Is she okay…?” He took his phone and contemplated on dialing her digits.
They haven’t talked for days and their last encounter didn’t end in a good way.

Mercury continues weeping with the shower pouring down on her.
She has been in the bathroom for sometime now weeping ever since she came back from the interview.
It was something she didn’t want…but she had to do it.
She hated herself for being helpless…and now regretting ever coming back.
Maybe if she hadn’t…maybe…no it was bound to happen…it was something she couldn’t escape from.
It was something she had to do.
After crying for minutes, she finally went out of the bathroom to her room and just as she was about opening her closet, her phone rang.
She picked it up and peered at the screen for some moments before putting it down on the desk.
Right now she doesn’t feel like talking to anyone…not even him.

The door bell rang for the sixth time, Candy got up from the bed grudgingly and walks towards the door carrying her leg like a baby learning how to walk.
She opened the door and was met with Danny’s dark face.
Her heart did a swift flip and she opened her mouth to talk but before she could, he walked in and lunged at her aiming his lips at hers like some kind of Candy.
He slip his arms around her waist dexterously leaving her no chance to escape or back out.
Even being caught off guard, she didn’t protest but rather give in as if she had been expecting it for a long time.
They locked lips for sometime savoring each other’s taste until something suddenly flashed through her mind.
She hasn’t brushed her teeth.
Immediately she realised this, she quickly pushed him off her. She looks at him with her eyes darting here and there, covering her mouth with her palm then dash into the bathroom.
“OH GRACIOUS GOODNESS!” She exclaimed on seeing herself in the mirror.
She was a replica of panda.
A total mess.
“What the…” She touched her face which looks terrible.
“No…I’ve got no time for this..” She quickly took her toothbrush, paste the toothpaste on it and started brushing her teeth like her life depended on it hurting her gum in the process.
Within few seconds she was done…she combed her messy hair hurriedly, wash her face and did a little touch of make up she was about going out when she realize not only her teeth bit she also stinks.
She rushed to her closet and picked a dress wore it then rushed out to continue what she put on hold only not to meet anyone in the living room anymore.
She stood motionless for some seconds before finally coming back to her senses.
She walks towards the curtain and peeped through only to see him leaving on his motorcycle.
Her heart sank instantly.
“Maybe he had a sudden emerg…i took too long so…he couldn’t wait to tell me…i should call him…yeah” She picked her phone and dialed his number but he didn’t picked up.
“Right…stupid you” she hit her forehead.
“He’s driving…no way he could pick up…I should just text him…he will call when he deals with it” she texted him and head to the couch sitting.
She remember the sudden kiss he gave her and touch her lips.
TWO HOURS LATER.
No reply yet.
“Is he still in a meeting?”
LATER AT NIGHT.
“Maybe..he didn’t check his phone…I should call him”
She called twice but he didn’t picked up.
“Maybe…maybe he’s tired and…already asleep…I shouldn’t disturb him…I will just text him again he will call HL when he sees it I’m sure” she texted him again.
LATER AT MIDNIGHT.
Message seen but no reply.
“He…will…He’s just busy…he’ll call…”
THE FOLLOWING DAY.

She bursts into tears.

AT THE CLUB
Wine haired, white crop top, black shorts with wine heels. She moves her body vigorously to the beat. Swaying her sexy butt left and right.
She dances alone…no guy dare approach her…she’s known to always dance alone. Though many guys fancies her..they dare not approach her as they knew it will not only earn they humiliation but also trouble.
Exhausted from dancing, she sway her butt cat walking to the bar. She got her favorite alcohol and was about heading to her seat when a giybomb into her.
As if that wasn’t enough…this guy also trodden on her feet.
Immediately, lines of anger appeared all over her forehead and without wasting any second she landed a resounding slap across the guys face.
Everyone gasped.
The guy went ballistic holding his face.
“How dare you!…do you have a death wish?!” The guy raved.
“Death wish…should I show you what that is uh?!” She flared throwing her leg in between his legs.
The guys eyes went big as he clutch to his genitals.
“Next time…make use of that thing called eyes and watch what you say also” she said gruffly and made to leave but heard a clap.
She looked back to see who dares clap and was rather shocked at what she saw.
“You…?”
“Hey there Mia…long time no dig” kings said in a singsong smiling and she just rolled her eyes at him.

“What are you doing here?”
“To see you…I heard what you’ve been doing lately”
“Go…and don’t ever come back I don’t wanna see you”
“You don’t get to decide that girl…it’s so good to see you again and there’s no way I’m just gonna let it go…I’ll come again and if you try to run or hide from me…I promise you…I’ll find you… you look meaner than before…life must have been tough on you”
“You’ve become quite successful”
“Thanks to my hard work…don’t worry now that I’ve found you…I’ll make your life more better”
“I’ll kill you if you come back here again…me and you aren’t close”
Kings smiles.

“Sure…I can see that…” Mercury replied stiffly.
“But girl…what’s wrong?…you look blue…ah right?! You must be sad because you have to give up on your career right?”
“Hey girl what’s wrong? You look Haggard…ah right?! You must be sad because you were dumped right?”
“How did you know that?” Candy opted obviously surprised.
“It’s written all over your face…you totally lost your spirit” Mercury answered flatly and Candy sighs.
“What do I do Mec? I feel like such a fool…I’mma mess”
“What really happened?”
“Kings dumped me and Danny won’t return my calls or messages” she replied downcasted.
“You…who do you really like among the two Danny or Kings?” Mercury opted.
“Of course it’s….it’s…”
“You don’t know?”
“I…I just…”
“Candy…?” Mercury called but she looks away biting her lower lip.
“You’re confused…why? You want the both of them? That’s selfishness”
“I never said so”
“Then who do you really like?” Mercury asked again but Candy kept quiet.
“You know what your problem is? You can’t decipher the difference between love and infatuation. You clearly love one and feel infatuated with the other but you’re not sure who is who am I right?”
“Don’t preach to me…as if your love life is going well”
“At least I’m sure of whom I love..I’m not stuck in between like you”.
“So? What’s so special about that anyway…they both dump me in the end anyway”
“You…have to know who your heart really beats for so you could go after him”
“It’s useless…none of them like me back”
“How are you so sure about that? Did they told you that?”
“They didn’t but I was literally rejected…by both of them…I mean nothing to them…nothing!” Candy said with tears Cascaded in her eyes.
“Candy listen…I know it’s must be hard for you but I’m sure they’re probably thinking of you too…you have to make things right for everything to settle and for you to know the right step to take…okay let’s do this…I’ll help you find out the person you really like and you take the right step after that”
“How…?”
“Answer these….coffee or tea which one do you prefer?”

Mercury sighs.
“There…you got your answer Candy…I hope you don’t make the same mistake like me and do the right thing” Mercury advised and Candy just bit her lower lip.
“Shit…” She cussed beneath her breathe.
Mercury telephone rang and she picked it up.
“Hello…oh really…let them in…alright” she dropped the phone and face Candy who seems to be contemplating on something.
“Since you’re jobless now…why don’t you continue working for me I’ll make you my PA”
“Sorry but I’d like to do nothing for now”
“Oh…I’m blatantly rejected I see..” Mercury mouth and Candy gave her a feeble smile.
Just then the door open and both Danny and Kings walked in.
“Hey yo boss Lady…how you doing?”
“You guys are here…welcome” Mercury said getting up whilst Candy looks back.
Her heart did a swift flip and she quickly took her eyes away.
“How are you Mec? Hey Candy” Kings greeted and Candy stood up.
“I…I’ll get going…see you later Mec” she said and rushed out not looking at any of them.
“Candy…I’ll be back Mec” Kings said and rushed out also.
“Take a sit Dan”
“Sure…” They both sit facing each other. Danny went silent and Mercury keep looking at him until he glanced up.
“Why…are you staring at me like that?”
“What’s wrong with the pair of you?”
“What?”
“You and Candy? Something is wrong isn’t it?”
“Did she told you that?”.
“No…I just felt it…normally you would have taunted her but you aren’t even looking at her”
“I have nothing to do with her”.
“Really…is that so?”
“Quit talking nonsense…what’s going on between you and Clark again? Did you two fight? I don’t see you around”
“Nothing…I’m just busy”.
“Tell me…is it because of Leo?”
“He has nothing to do with it I don’t even see him anymore”.
“Then…Ivy?” Danny asked but Mec kept shut
“It must be because of her? Why? Is Clark cheating on you with her?”
“I don’t know and I don’t care!”
“You just need to answer and not shout”
“Why don’t you mind your own business. Go solve your love issues and stop prying into mine”
“Wow…how wonderful uh!” Danny scoffs and grey went silent for a while.
“I’m sorry Dan…I got mad”.
“What did Ivy do now?”

“Candy….candy! Wait!” Kings ran after Candy as she rushes out of the building.
“Candy!” He eventually catches up to her and catch her arm.
“What’s wrong Candy? Why are you running away from me?”
“It’s…it’s nothing…I just…” Kings held her face making her look at him.
She stares at him for a while and her eyes became teary.
Kings saw this and pulled her into a warm embrace.
“Candy…i__”
“I’m sorry Kings but can you give me some time…I’m actually hurting a lot right now…” She said in a breaking voice and Kings released her.
“I’m sorry…?”
She sniffs saying nothing and just walk away from there.
Kings stood there for a while watching her as she left.
He felt empty and guilty.
Mia is back.
