CHAPTER 47
MERCURY’S APARTMENT.
She twirls inside humming a song on her own with smiles all over her face but it wiped off the moment she saw him.
“Hey love” he smiles hugging her.
“Leo…you…you are back”
“Huh? I missed you” he smiles at her and she forced a smile.
“How was the work?”
“Awesome…by the way you look happy earlier…did something good happen?” He asked as his hands encircled her waist.
“Leo…” She released herself from his grip.
“I need to tell you something” she said.
Leo step closer to her.
“I love you Ura” he made to kiss her but she move her face away.
Leo sighs.
“I won’t let you” he said sternly
“What…?” Mercury looks at him.
“I won’t let you…break up with me”
“Leo”
“Don’t Mercury…please don’t get me angry” he looks away.
Mercury sighs closing her eyes.
She clench her fists.
I have to do this…now or never she thought.
“I’m sorry Leo but…I don’t think I can continue doing this…I’ve tried to make it work but…?” She shakes her head.
“I can’t continue deceiving myself…I can’t continue lying to myself…I can’t continue forcing myself…to love you”
“You love me Ura”
“Only as a friend”
“No…much more than that”
“No Leo…I don’t_”
“YOU LOVE ME! …you do” he cut her off staring at her.
He is angry.
Mercury breathes out.
“Let’s break up…I’ve had enough…I can’t marry you Leo…I don’t want to and I’m not going to”
“Ura…?”
“Let’s stop” she said in a tired a voice.
Before she knew it Leo went on his knees
“Please Ura…I love you so much”
Now she feels bad.
She feels like she’s the bad one here.
She turns and ran to her room.
Leo follows her and bang on the door since she locks it.
“What can I do to make you love me?” He said sadly.
“I love you so much…I only have eyes for you Ura..since high school up to this moment…I’ve always wanted to be more than just friends…I’ve always wanted to have you as mine…please…Don’t break me please…?”
Mercury covers her mouth with her palms trying not to let him hear her cry.
She has always wanted to avoid this.
She can’t avoid to hurt him but…she can’t keep on hurting herself either.
“My Ura…?” Leo slumped on the floor with tears filled eyes.
“You can’t do this to me…I really love you a lot…?” He cries silently.
“I’m…sorry….I’m sorry Leo…I’m really sorry…?” She cries also.
AT A BAR.
“Your strongest liquor” he ordered and the bartender went to get him the liquor.
He didn’t bother to pour it in the glass and just gulp it down from the bottle.
Memories of Mercury and him together in Paris came rushing to him.
“We we’re so happy together…we were always happy together…?” He continue gulping down the liquor which burns his throat.
But that was nothing cause the burns he’s getting in his heart is much more worse.
Ivy entered the club her eyes scanning everyone and everywhere in the club.
Her eyes caught him at the bar and she sighs.
She walks towards her and took a sit at the empty sit beside him.
Leo looks up to her slowly and look back down taking his liquor.
“Why did you send that picture to me?” He asked in a dangerous voice.
Ivy rolled her eyes.
“Is this where it lands you after all” she asked
“Were you that desperate?” He asked and Ivy glared at him.
“Another one!” He yelled and the bartender brought it.
“Were you always this pathetic?” She collected the drink from him and pour it in a glass gulping it down.
“Just why did you call me here? If you’re just gonna rant nonsense then I’m leaving” she said to him who only just stares at her.
“Leo did you even heard what I sa_”
His lips collide with hers not letting her finish her statement.
He held her arms tightly as she hit him struggling to break free.
On breaking free from him she gave him a resounding slap.
He massage his cheek with his tongue and Ivy took the liquor and gulp it down.
“This is exactly why I never wanted to come back…what I was always afraid of…this was why I didn’t let her know I still keep in touch with the guys…I’m happy with her but I…always felt her happiness is not with me…?” He continues drinking.
“Can you just stop drinking and do something for fuck sake?!”
“What do you want me to do? What I’ve been doing for the past six years that’s not working? What I’ve been doing since high school that doesn’t work out? What exactly is it Ivy?”
“Take her away from here then…things will be better for all of us”
“You sound pathetic right now do you know that?” He said and Ivy sighs
“Aren’t you tired? You’ve been chasing him for so long but he isn’t even looking at you”
“That’s none of your concern”
“Give up…he won’t ever look at you”
“Talk for yourself fool”
“Are you angry?” He laughs.
“You’re not his type Ivy…he won’t even spare you a glance…wake up”
Ivy stood up and took her bag.
Leo grabbed her hand before she could leave.
“Help me…help me get over her Ivy”
“You’re pathetic Leo” she whipped his hand away and leaves.
Leo just took his liquor and continues drinking.
HOURS LATER.
They both giggles as they slump on the bed breathing heavily.
“Hey you pathetic lady in love”
“Hey you pathetic guy in love” she replied and they both giggles like little kids again.
“How long have you been I’m love with him?”
“Four years”
“Mine is seven years now…?”
“You’re really pathetic”
“I know”
Silence creeped in.
“You’re a pretty lady Ivy…you shouldn’t waste your youth on a man who doesn’t love you”
“You’re a handsome man Leo…you shouldn’t waste your youth on a lady who doesn’t love you”
“How can I get rid of these feelings?” Leo said staring at the roof but he only heard some gagging sounds in response.
He looks over to Ivy and saw her gagging.
“Hey…hey…not on my bed…go to the toilet” he help her up as Ivy covers her mouth.
Before they could reach the toilet she stops.
“Is it gone?” He asked and she nodded.
“I should get going…it’s getting late”
“It’s isn’t getting late but it’s late dummy…it’s past twelve already”
“But I have to_” she rushed to the closet and empty the content in her mouth there.
She wash her mouth coughing at the moment.
But soon the cough turns into a cry.
Leo drop to a squat in front of her.
“I don’t wanna give him up…it’s so hard to…?” She said in a breaking voice.
Leo held her face cleaning her tears.
“I can’t believe I’m consoling you when I ought to be consoled myself”
He rubs her cheek gently and leans closer to kiss her.
Ivy moves her face away and he withdrew immediately.
“Just sleep over tonight…I don’t think anyone of us can drive in this position” he said and Ivy kept quiet.
“Don’t worry…I won’t do anything stupid” he said noticing her reluntancy and she nodded.
He led her to a room and gave her one of his shirt since her clothes is stained and dirty.
He also went back to his room and took his bath.
Ivy also took her bath and she spent some time in the bathroom.
Not only taking her bath but also crying.
She need no soothsayer to tell her she has lost.
She lost Clark to Mercury.
She actually noticed them acting sneakily at the trip so she followed mercury and hid just to see them together.
She really felt hurt and betrayed.
Clark was seeing her behind her.
She took their picture and sent it to Leo hoping he could split them up but here he is…about to give up.
She really loves him…she really want him.
She really just want to be his.
After crying for sometime she walks out and wore the shirt Leo gave her.
She still feels tipsy but she has sober up a little.
She was about lying on the bed when she heard the door knocking.
She went to it and opens it just to meet with Leo’s swollen face.
Seems he has been crying also.
They’re both really pathetic.
“What do you want Leo?”
“Ivy…I’m sorry” he said and with that he smash his lips on hers.
It was sudden..he really got her off guard.
She tries pushing him away.
Leo doesn’t seems to be in his right see senses.
Of course he can’t after all those drinks he had. She wanted to leave him earlier but when he heard his cries.
She stopped.
She actually felt bad for a minute for sending that picture to him.
But it seems her decision in staying is gonna be an unfavourable one at that.
Now she has to take responsibility for her actions.
She pushed him away and gave him yet another slap both panting.
“Ivy i_”
She draws him by the shirt and took his lips in hers.
They kiss roughly both lost in their desires.
Ivy push him to the bed and came on top of him.
They continue battling with their tongue as Leo runs his hands through her back.
He flips her over and stayed on top her now their lips not releasing and not ready to back out from the fight.
His top was already on the floor and his fingers did the job of Unbottoning her shirt.
Everything was fast…rough…steamy.
Before she knew it he penetrated into her and a tear tickles down her eyes.
She grip onto him tightly as both their desires were clouded with both pain and pleasure.
DAYS LATER.
“Carl!” She hugs her tightly as if that’s the last time she’ll see her again.
“Hey girl…how have you been without me?”
“Livable…I’m glad you’re finally back” she grins.
“Yeah…the Cupid is back now tell me your problems” she said and mercury chuckled.
MINUTES LATER
“So you eventually broke up with him?”
“Huh? Honestly I feel bad…I don’t know if I ddi the wrong thing”
“Look…it’s better this way…the sooner the better. I’m sure he’ll finally give up now and also…he can pursue his own happiness too…you did great”
“You think so? ” she sighs.
“Don’t think about it…hope no problem between you and Clark?” She asked and her face lighten up.
“How did you know about us?”.
” oh come on…remember I’m the Cupid?”
She chuckles.
“None so far…?”
“I can tell you look happy ” she smiles.
“Took six good years to finally see this…what a hassle”
“How is Olive? How was your honeymoon?”
“Don’t pry into my private life…I won’t let you”
“But I told you mine”
“It was your choice” she shrugged.
“Betrayer….?” She mutters and Carly chuckles.
“We’re good…and the honeymoon was fantastic also…one of the best”
“That’s awesome…so what your plan now?”
“I plan to become popular like someone too”
“Hmmm…?”
“I’m opening a dance academy soon…be my guest of honor”
“Well…that…you’ll have to go through my manager first” she said proudly.
“You better accept or I’ll split you and Clark up and pair him with Ivy”
“You can’t do that”
“Trust me sweetie…that guy listens to everything I said”
“And he loves me…he won’t do that”
“Wow…what a confidence! We’ll have to see about that”
“Wait and see then” they both chuckle.
The door opens and Ivy came in.
“Ivy!” Carly grinned running to hug her.
“Gosh girl…I missed you like crazy”
Mercury looks at them.
Seems her best friend as gotten another best friend.
She felt jealous.
“I’ve got a lot of gist for you both” Carly dragged Ivy to the sitting room where Mercury was.
Ivy looked shocked to see her.
“Hi Ivy” Mercury smiles.
“Hi…?” She forced a smile.
Somehow…she felt sorry and guilty.
“So…I’m thinking of having a ladies’ night…we four we’re gonna have a sleepover together with your manager”.
” candy?”
“Yeah…she seems nice…I want us to all be friends and get more close…what do you think?”
“I’m fine with it…I’ll squeeze a time out of my busy schedule for you” Mercury smiles and Carly looks at Ivy waiting for her response.
“Hmm…I’m not sure yet…we’re quite busy a lot in the office cause of the new project and starting tomorrow I may work overnight” she replied.
“Don’t worry about that…I’ve called Clark and he gave me permission to take you anytime…don’t you dare give excuses” she said and Ivy smiles.
“No problem then…I’m all yours”
“So…what about next tomorrow…no…i don’t need your opinions…next tomorrow it is…I missed you guys a lot” she hugs them both to herself.
TWO DAYS LATER.
Mercury slumped on the bed.
She’s just finished her fan signing which took exactly three days.
She’s so exhausted and just wanna sleep.
“Shower we’re leaving by 9” candy stood by the doorpost.
“To where?” She frowns.
“Carly’s sleep over duh” candy said and she groans.
“I’m so exhausted…ugh!”
CARLY’S HOUSE.
“Hey girls…drinks” she dropped the drinks on the table.
“But where is Olive? When is he coming back?”
“He’s not coming home tonight…I told him about the sleep over and the guys decided to have one also”
She said and they mouth an ‘oh’
“So girls..I want tonight to be a blast…fell free to get drunk…merry and go wild…this night is for us!”
“Hooo!” Candy clap grinning widely while Mercury and Ivy just smile.
Their eyes met and they both look away instantly.
CLARK’S HOUSE.
The guys gist and laugh.
Olive wouldn’t stop bragging on how much he enjoyed the honeymoon.
“You guys won’t understand since you don’t know the feelings”
“What are you trying to say? I know better than anyone” Danny defend.
“So say a guy who flies from one lady to another…when are you gonna get serious uh?”
“Maybe when cow flies” Clark said and they both laugh.
“At least…I’ve got ladies…what do you have Clark? Nothing…you are just a loner…l.o.n.e.r” he points at him.
“You know sometimes bud…there are things beyond what we see…don’t be surprised if I get married next” Clark patted his shoulder.
“You mean last” Dan said and he shrugged.
“Let’s wait and see” he smiles taking his drink.
“But I’m happy to see you smiling Clark…things seems different…am I missing something?”
“Wait…don’t tell me you and Ivy are a thing now?” He said again and Clark almost choked on his drink.
“Definitely not! What do you take me as? She’s more like a sister to me?”
“But do you think she thinks like that?” Leo who haven’t said anything finally talked.
Clark and others look at him.
“What if she doesn’t want you to see her as that?”
“Who are you to know what she thinks?”
“Someone…similar to her I guess” he took his drink.
“But if someone is to get married next…isn’t that supposed to be Leo…he proposed to Mercury remember?” Kings said.
“We aren’t getting married…thanks to someone” he dropped his drink and stood.
“I won’t stay overnight…I have some works to do…see you guys later” he said and went out.
Danny coughs breaking the awkward silence.
“Why is he making a fuss when he was the one who took her away first” Clark groaned gulping down his drink.
“There’s something you’re not telling us right? Why are they suddenly not getting married anymore and why is…Leo acting like that?” Olive asked
“Maybe you should ask him? I need more drinks” he stood up heading to the fridge.
“I need no soothsayer to tell me what it is cause I already figure it out” Olive said.
“Me too…actually it was quite obvious” kings chipped in.
“What’s obvious? What do you guys know?” Danny asked.
“And he’ll always remain a half brained” kings said referring to Danny and Olive laughs.
“Fuck you both…keep it to your damn selves then…I’m not curious!” He hissed and the duo chuckles.
Just then kings phone beeps.
He took it and start texting.
“I heard Carly is opening a dancing academy?” Clark said taking a sit.
“Yeah finally she is…and you’re all invited”
“How funny…do I need to be invited to come?” Clark scoffs.
“I’m the husband…without my permission you can’t attend it”
“So says a guy who couldn’t court a girl he likes for two years” Clark said and Danny burst out laughing.
“You know that was crazy…I never knew he liked her I was wondering why he was always sulking and got this idea of either he was secretly in love with Mercury and sad she’s gone like Clark or he’s sick and going to die soon” Danny said amidst laughter.
“I wasn’t sad” Clark defended.
“Yeah that’s such an obvious lie dear..but seriously guy you surprised me how could you keep your feelings for two years straight…you even avoided the girl” Danny said.
“I swear he’s crazy” Clark chipped in.
“I don’t care whatever you guys said what matters now is that I’m married to her…game over”
“You wouldn’t have if I didn’t give the permission” Clark said.
“Who do you think you are uh?”
“Take it or not…I’m the guys she loves most…you Olive came second” Clark smirks.
Danny wouldn’t stop laughing as kings was busy with his phone.
“But what are doing on your phone since? Who are you texting? Have you gotten a girlfriend also?” Danny tried to look at his phone but kings hid it away.
“I’m gonna use the restroom” he clears his throat and get up leaving.
“He’s weird…?” Danny said shaking his head.
