~I am unstoppable~

????BALLERINA????

“Are you okay?” She asked, pulling him up to seat.

Ace slowly nodded his head, shutting his eyes close.

He was wasted.

Completely wasted.

Ballerina doesn’t still understand why a guy this handsome, hot, and wealthy will dedicate himself into drinking to the extend of getting drunk!

Is that even normal?

She hated seeing him this way.

She wish he won’t drink like this ever again.

She wish he could confide in her and listen to everything she ask of him.

She wish she could make him happy.

But, was she even happy?

“I will be right back.” She told him, standing up to her feet and walking away from the beach.

Minutes later she returned with a bottle of water and a sandwich. She sat down beside him again, taking off the cap of the bottle and handing the water to Ace.

Ace eyes were still close. Ballerina gently patted his back, making him open his eyes. He stared up at her, his eyes were red and puffy.

Have he been crying before he called her here?

Did something happen between him and his mother?

Was he sick?

What the hell was going on?

Still she got here Ace have said nothing to her and it was worrying the shit out of her.

Seeing him this broken and sad hurts her like a bit-ch … although she doesn’t know why she feels this way but she still does.

“Here,” She pulled the water to his mouth, indirectly asking him to open his mouth, Ace tried collecting the bottle but she refused. “I will give it to you myself.”

“I will…” His voice was so dry.

“Ace, I will give the water to you myself. Now, open your mouth.” She ordered.

He hesitate for a while before giving in. He opened his mouth, letting her give him water. He swallowed the water while Ballerina closed the bottle and dropped it on the beachy sand. She grabbed the sandwich, peeled it open and gave it to him but he rejected it.

“You need to eat, Ace.” She said.

He shook his head again. “I…I don’t eat.”

“Are you kidding me right now, Ace? Who the hell doesn’t eat in this world?”

“Me?”

“Stop joking around and eat this sandwich.” She stated.

“I…ouch!” He rubbed his hand at the back of his head. Yeah, she had just hit him there. “What was that for?”

“If you don’t eat this sandwich… I’m going to beat you like a child. You need to sober up and i have something very important to talk to you about.”

“Then talk.”

“In this state of yours? Never.”

“Then let’s talk tomorrow.” He shrugged, looking ahead at the flowing waters. “Besides I’m already sobered up. I’m fine now.”

“Ace… you seriously won’t eat this sandwich?” She questioned, looking at him sadly.

Ace slowly turned to look at her, saying nothing. Neither of them said a word as they kept staring into each other’s eyes.

After a long while, he collected the sandwich and took a bite of it.

“Happy?” He asked, taking another bite.

She smiled, nodding her head like a child who was asked to get ready for a trip to meet Santa Claus. “Yeah.”

Ace sighed, chewing on the sandwich slowly. “I… I can’t remember the last time I ate something like this.”

“Wait, really?”

“Hmm. I hate eating at home because every food made was by Naomi…”

“Naomi… you mean your mother?”

He nods. “Dad loved her food so much and…so did I. We ate like a happy family but the day dad died, I knew we were no longer happy family. I became distant from her. I hated anything that have to do with her. Her food, her voice, her touch, her smile… everything. I wanted her to feel every pain I feel. I wanted her to be sad and probably die in that sadness.” He took another bite of the sandwich. “Turns out she wasn’t even the one with dad that night when he died but me. I keep asking myself… should I hate myself for not remembering that night? Should I treat myself just as I’ve treated her? I wanted to find a way to come clean to her and apologised but… something happened… she knows who the murderer is, Belle.” He stared at Ballerina. “That woman I call my mother knows who the fu-ckkilled her husband… she knows who is threatening her son… she knows how ha-rd I’m beating myself just because of this case and yet she refuse to say a thing about this psychotic murderer. She chose to protect them.” He sniffed, looking away from Ballerina.

He is preventing himself from crying in front of her. She could see it.

She was going to placed her palm on his back but decided not to, as she pulled down her hand to her side.

“No matter how much I hate her… I still don’t want her to be the murderer. I want her to come clean to me. I want her…” He couldn’t hold it in any longer.

Ballerina watch him cry.

Ace cried, pouring out of his feelings.

He was in pain… just like her.

He was broken… just like her.

He needed answers… just like her.

They were two different people with the similar problems.

Her aunt kept her in the dark then died without revealing any damn thing to her. And Ace’s mom? She was also leaving her son in the dark, refusing to tell him what she knows.

But why?

Why are they keeping the identity of the murderer unknown?

What are they afraid of?

She wrapped her arms around Ace and hug-ged him, patting him on his back, softly.

It breaks her heart to see him this way.

She wish she could help.

She wish there is something she can do to take all of the pain away.

But couldn’t.

She has a bigger problem of her own.

But who knows, maybe they could both heal each other by being together.

“Is this necessary?” Ace asked rolling his eyes.

“Of course. We need to lessen our burden and by doing so, we need to get away from our comfort zone.” She said, smiling. “And besides I don’t want to see you cry again.”

“I told you, I wasn’t crying. It’s the alcohol.”

“Oh. The alcohol. But you still cried.” She laughed.

“Shut up.”

“Why are we here exactly?” He asked, stuffing his hands into his pan-ts pocket.

“I’ve always wanted to see wild creatures of the world.” She said, going over to buy two tickets.

“You could have gone by yourself.”

“I don’t want to go alone.”

“Your maids would have gladly come with you.” He said, following her from behind to get the ticket.

“I’m not save with them, remember?” They got to the area where they could buy the tickets. “Two tickets, please.” They handed her the ticket in exchange of money. “Let’s get in.”

She slung her arm on his and linked them, pulling him along with her inside the zoo.

“I hate this place.” Ace gro-aned.

“Why? Besides you haven’t come here before.”

“Wait, who told you that?” He asked.

She smiled. wriggling her brows at him. “I have my ways, prince charming.”

He shook his head. “Don’t call me that.”

“Why?”

“It reminds me of the note I received.”

“You received a note too?” He nodded his head. “But how…why will the both of us receive notes from two different murderer? What did the note says?” She asked him.

“Are we here to see those ugly looking animals or we are here to solve crime?” He asked her.

“Oh. That’s true. Let’s go.”

????PAULO????

“How…how is this possible? How can Ballerina be the witness?” He asked himself, staring down at the laptop screen. “Does this mean that the murderer who killed Mr Reyes is the person who killed her parents and aunt?” He was still pondering on the situation at hand when he suddenly heard the sound of the door and some footsteps.

Paulo quickly pulled out the flash drive and went to hide under a desk.

“Look around for anything that might implicate the boss.” A voice ordered, walking inside the study room of Doctor Charles.

“Do you think he will keep anything here?” Another voice asked.

“Do you have any other place to suspect?” The earlier voice asked.

“No. I will look around.”

Paulo heard footstep approaching the desk he was hiding, he placed his palm over his mouth in attempt to stop any sound from coming out.

The footstep stopped, the person was standing right in front of him now. He couldn’t see the face but he was could see the shoe of the person.

It was a unique shoe, because of the sign imprinted on it, it wasn’t just any sign but a sign of membership.

It was just his initiative so he can’t be so sure.

But what exactly were they looking for?

“What if Claire didn’t give him the footage.”

“Then who else could be in possession of it?”

“Footage?” Paulo whispered to himself, wondering what footage they were talking about.

“Could it be the princess?”

“I doubt. The princess knows nothing about what’s going on. She might have been the witness of that case but she’s currently useless. She remembers nothing.”

*I have the footage of what happened fifteen years ago… if you need it go to the heart of the palace.* Claire’s words flashes in Paulo’s mind.

Could that be the footage they are looking for?

What exactly does the footage contain?

What’s on the footage that they desperately want to get?

“What if she’s only just pretending?”

“She can’t be. I’m keeping a very close watch on her. Although, I’m losing her trust because of that necklace…” The one who was standing in front of Paulo started walking away from the desk, going close to the other one.

“What necklace?”

“The silver necklace, of course. They went to him.”

“Lucky?”

“Yeah. Lucky. Lucky told them the truth… but trust me, I’m going to use it to my advantage.”

“How?”

They heard a loud thump from the desk side, they both snapped their heads to the direction.

“What was that?”

“I don’t know.”

“Do you think we are alone?”

“Let me go check.” One of them started walking towards the desk, bringing out her gun.

A beep was heard, there was a short silence until one of the girls spoke. “The boss wants us. We need to leave.”

“Oh. Okay.”

Minutes later Paulo heard the door open and close, which meant that they were gone.

He slowly came out of his hiding spot and let out a de-ep sign of relief.

His phone suddenly started ringing, his grabbed his phone and answered the call after seeing that it was Liam calling.

“Hey.”

“Where are you, detective?”

“Out. Busy. Why?”

“The chief wants to see you.” He said.

“You can’t ask me to stop, sir.”

“Why can’t I, detective Paulo? This case have been stopped years ago so give me one reason why you decided to continue it.”

“The deceased son asked me to go with the investigation.” He replied.

“And what about the mother?”

“What?”

“What about the wife os the deceased? What did she say?” Paulo didn’t say anything. “I thought as much. Listen, you have to drop the case or else…”

“You will get me fired like you got Mr Samuel.”

“Excuse me?”

“Was it Mrs Reyes who asked you to tell me to stop the case?”

“Detective Paul…”

“What if I refuse?” Paulo cuts him off.

“What?”

“What if i refuse to stop the case, will i get fired?”

“Stop the case, Paulo. It’s for your own good.”

“I can’t. I promised the son that I won’t stop searching until I find answers, sir. And_”

“You left me no other option, Paulo. You have been suspended.”

“You don’t mean it.”

“Here is your suspension letter. You are suspended for three months.” He handed the letter over to him. “This is for the best, Paulo. For everyone’s best.”

*****
Paulo angrily stormed out of the chief’s offoce and walked to his desk, he started packing up all of his things into a box.

Kat and Liam walked towards him, looking sad and worried.

“Did he fire you?” Kat asked, helping Paulo to pack.

“He suspended me.” He answered.

“Gosh. But this is wrong. You are not doing anything wrong so why the fu-ckwill he suspend you?” Liam questioned.

Paulo shrugged. “Because he was asked to tell me to stop?”

“No one have the right to put an end to the investigation. Especially when the son is in support of it.”

“And the mother?” Paulo asked.

“Is she not in support? I mean, it’s her husband we are talking about here.” Kat stated.

Paulo let out a sigh, staring down at the suspension letter. “To her, she is trying to protect her son from the murderer but little does she know she only protecting them.”

“what are you going to do now? Are you going to stop?” Kat asked.

“I’ve come too far to stop, guys. I won’t stop until I bring this murderer to court.”

“But you can’t work while on suspension.” Liam reasoned out.

“I can’t. But you both can. And hey, I can still investigate things in my house, or is that right violated?”

“Are you sure it’s going to be a good idea?”

“What else do you think? Doctor Charles died while giving me a piece of information. I can’t let his death be a waste.”

“Wait, Doctor Charles is dead?” Kat asked.

“Hmm. And i also found something that will help us in this case but first, I will have to look throu-ghthe files Mr Samuel brou-ght to me.”

“Mr Samuel?” Liam asked.

Paulo smirked. “I might not have the chief, some detectives or the mother on my side but I have Doctor Charles, Mr Reyes, the princess’s parents, Claire, You guys, Ace and the crown princess on my side. So you see, I’m unstoppable.” He picked up the box and smiled at the both of them. “I might be suspended but we still have things to do. See you guys.” He turned to leave but Liam stopped him by asking him a question.

“Where are you going to now? Home?”

“Not yet. I need to give someone my piece of mind.”
