~Confusion~

????BALLERINA????

“Hey.” Paulo greeted just as Ballerina got down from her car and approached him. “So what’s up?”

“Where is the necklace?” She suddenly asked, without even greeting him back.

“Um, here.” He brou-ght it out of his pocket and handed it over to her, staring at her in confusion.

“How… how is this possible?” Ballerina muttered under her breath, twirling the necklace round her fingers, her brows were knitted in total confusion.

“What is it?” Paulo asked again.

“This can’t be possible, right? I mean, you are with the necklace so… so how come does she have one as well?” She questioned, looking up at Paulo.

“What are you talking about, Ballerina? I’m very confuse right now.” He said.

“Detective_”

“Paulo.” He corrected.

“Whatever.” She waved off, sighing. “I think something is wrong somewhere.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m very sure this necklace belongs to Heather… and she’s the only one who owns a necklace like this in the palace.”

“So?”

“Heather has her necklace with her.” She finally said, running her fingers throu-ghher hair. “I… i don’t think she’s the murderer.”

“What? How is that possible?” Paulo questioned, staring right at the necklace in Ballerina’s hand.

“I know right!” She start to panic, pacing around as she kept muttering words to herself.

“But you said she’s the only one with that necklace, right?”

“Yes!” She half yelled, throwing her hands up in the air as if in defeat. “I’m very confuse right now. How come are we with the necklace and she have hers with her?”

“This can’t be.” Paulo whispered to himself. “You need to calm down. Let’s go inside.” He said, opening the front door for her.

“Thank you.” Ballerina walked throu-ghthe door while Paulo followed her from behind, slamming the door shut behind them.

She sat down while Paulo went to the kitchen to get her something to drink. Few minutes later, he returned with a glas-sof orange juice and set it on the table, in front of her.

She didn’t say anything, all of her attention were just on the necklace.

“You have to calm down!” He cuts throu-ghher thoughts.

“I can’t. What if I’m wrong? What if Heather is not the problem here? What if_”

“What if you just calm the fu-ckdown and let me think?” Paulo cuts her off, feeling irritated of her behavior. “I got this, okay?”

“Do you? You are the cause of everything. If you didn’t put those words of doubt in my head about my maid, maybe this wouldn’t have happened!” She lashed out at him.

“Excuse me? You were the one who came to me with that necklace, remember?”

“Oh shut up.” She rolled her eyes, looking away.

“So you think Heather is not the problem here, right?”

“Can’t you see? She has found her necklace which means this necklace here is not hers.”

“Then who owns it? You?”

“This isn’t funny.” She glared.

“I know. It isn’t. Listen, I know you once trust this maid of yours but who knows maybe…”

She quickly cut him off. “Don’t dare accuse her of anything.”

“I’m not. I’m just…” He let out a de-ep breath. “Let me have the necklace.” She tossed it over to him. He caught it with ease. “It’s silver.”

“Yeah.”

“Are you sure this necklace belongs to Heather?”

“Yeah. But not anymore.”

“Do you have a picture of her wearing the necklace?” He asked.

“I… I guess?” She brou-ght out her phone, clic-ked on the gallery app, she scrolled throu-ghthe pictures and finally stopped at a particular photo. She slowly handed the phone over to Paulo.

Paulo stared at the photo for a while before saying. “It’s silver too. It’s definitely this necklace.” He nodded at the one he’s holding. “But if she’s really with another one, does that mean… Wait, what if she did got another one.”

“Hold on, you think she bought another one of this necklace?”

“Maybe. Um, who bought her this necklace?” He asked.

“Her boyfriend.” She replied. “I might be blind at then but I can remember hearing her bluffing about it. At some point I wish it was me.” She sighed. “I’d asked her to take a picture of it with my phone and she did. After i regained my sight, I scrolled throu-ghmy album and found the picture…”

“Her boyfriend… have you ever see him in person?”

“Once. I wasn’t blind then. They’ve been dating for years now.”

“What is his name?”

“Lucky Halls. Wait, why are you asking all this?”

“Listen, every gifter will always recognize his gift, don’t you think?”

“Yeah?”

“I want you to look for any means to get the necklace Heather currently have and bring it to me. We need to make Lucky Halls pick out the necklace he got for his girlfriend.”

“Will that work out?”

“It have to. Because right now, Lucky Halls is our only hope here in finding out the truth.”

“Hi.” Ballerina smiled, sitting down beside him.

“What are you doing here?” Ace asked, staring at her.

“Hey, that’s a very rude way to say hello to a friend.” She pouted.

Ace shook his head, looking back at the flowing waters. “Didn’t know we were friends.”

“Ouch, burns!” She chuckles, staring at the waters also. She hug-ged her knees closer to her chest. “I didn’t know you love coming here.”

“I didn’t know here existed.” He said.

“What?”

“One night, I got into my car and drove away from home, hoping to be far away from everyone… and I ended up here.” He turned to look at her, she was also staring at him. “Just as if the heavens were on my side, they made me see you dancing. I love every of your dance moves… it was as if you were telling a story throu-ghit. It was beautiful. It brou-ght my troubles heart to ease.” He sighed. “Ever since then… I grew interest in coming here just to watch you dance.”

“Oh.” She muttered, breaking off the eye contact with him as she looked back at the waters. “That… that’s sweet.”

“Yeah.” He sighed. “How did you find here?”

“I didn’t find here… it found me.” She smiled. “After losing my parents, I will always run away from the palace, going far away from home. I will dance and dance to the waves because… that’s the only way I could connect to them.”

“Your parents?”

“Yes. My mother had told me and I quote ‘whenever you want to communicate with us, dance to the waves of sea.’ and I did just that.” She smiled. “I dance until I get exhausted. Sometimes I dance till I break down in tears.” She let out a de-ep breath. “I never knew my dance moves was healing a broken heart as well.” She reached out to his arm. “I’m glad to have been of a great help to you.”

“Hmm.” He hummed, staring down at her hand that was on his arm. “You didn’t call.”

“Call?”

“You said you were going to give me a call today, remember?”

“Oh. Yeah. Wait a minute, were you waiting for my calls?” She said, teasingly.

“Nah.”

“Come on, I’m sure you were waiting for me… could that be the reason why you are here now?” She winked, laughing.

“Don’t flatter yourself.” Ace said, getting up to his feet.

“Where are you going?” Ballerina asked, standing up as well.

“To the office.”

“Oh. Can we meet here this weekend?”

“No.” He replied, walking away.

“Please. You know you are the only friend I have.”

“Am I?”

“I cross my heart. I’m actually an introvert.” She said to him.

“Now I see why we both clic-ked. We have lot of things in common.” Ace shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pan-ts pocket. He got closer to his car while she got closer to hers. “I should get going.”

“Yeah. It was nice seeing you around. You actually took my mind off some things of lately.”

Ace stayed quiet for a while before saying. “You too.”

Ballerina chuckles softly, giving him a thumbs up. “You are actually becoming a better person. Sooner or later you are going to open up to the world and start smiling, trust me.”

Ace just stared at her, not saying a word. After a while he clambered into his car and drove off while Ballerina just stood there and watched him fade away.

????ACE????

He wants to open up to her.

He wants to tell her more things about himself that no one, not even Paulo knows about.

She was just too different and special.

She was someone who doesn’t know a damn thing about his messed up life but yet trying to help him.

Ace let out a sigh, turning the steering wheel to the right direction. She was just to Precious for him and honestly… he wants to be her friend. He wants to be someone she can lean on for help, someone that can support her… he wants to be someone important to her.

And besides, if hanging out with her means getting his memory then he see no problem with it.

He needed his memory.

He was already getting closer to his home when he sighted his mom talking to someone in front of the gate. The person was wearing a black hoodie.

Ace sped closer towards them and stopped the car as soon as he got closer. He clambered out and walked towards them, grabbing their attention.

“What’s going on here?”

His mother eyes went wide while the person who was talking to her refused to look at him. The person just lowered their face to the ground, it was as if the person was avoiding him from seeing his or her face.

“Ace…wha… what are you doing home?” The question wasn’t what sounded suspicious but the nervousness and the fear in her voice was what sounded suspicious.

????BALLERINA????

“Heather.” Ballerina smiled, walking inside the maid’s room.

“My princess.” Heather quickly jumped out of bed. “Do you want something?”

Ballerina shook her head. “Of course not. Can’t i just come here to say hi to my only friend?” She went closer to the bed and sat down. “Seat.” She offered.

“I will stand my princess.” Heather said.

“Don’t. I want you to sit.” She said.

“Thank you, my princess.” Heather say down beside Ballerina. “Did I do something wrong?”

“Of course not. Why will you even think that?”

“You were very mad at me before you left this morning.”

“I wasn’t, Heather. I was just… frustrated.” She sighed. “My aunt’s case is really getting out of hand. I don’t even know what else to do, Heather. I’m just so confuse.”

“I understand. But what about detective Paulo? Isn’t he doing anything?”

“He is trying his best, I guess.”

“You know you can always ask me for help or anything. I promise to always stand by you and help you throu-gheverything.”

Ballerina smiled. “Thank you. Um, can I hug you?”

“Sure.” Ballerina pulled Heather to her arms, engulfing her into a warm hug. They both pulled apart smiling. “I stink, I need to have my bath.”

“Yeah. I will go prepare dinner.”

“Lobster.” Ballerina laughed, standing up to her feet.

“Lobster it will be.” Ballerina have taken some steps away from Heather when Heather said something, stopping Ballerina. “Thank you for liking me again, my princess.”

Ballerina smiled. “No, I should be the one thanking you.”

“For what?”

“For being here. By my side.” She opened the door and walked out. As soon as she slammed the door shut, she opened her palm, staring down at the necklace she had stolen right from her maid’s neck. “It’s gold.” She muttered under her breath.
