???? Chapter Thirty-Seven ????

~Back to the past~

????HEATHER????

“My princess.” Heather knocked softly against the wooden door and waited patiently for a respond but there was none. She knocked a little louder this time around, hoping for a response this time around. But there was none.

She turned to walk away when she sighted Ballerina coming out from Aunt Claire’s room. She let out a sigh of relief, glad to see Ballerina okay.

“My princess.” She called softly, walking closer to Ballerina. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” She said.

“Why?” Ballerina asked coldly, surprising Heather in the process.

Ever since the death of Aunt Claire, Ballerina have been behaving strange towards her. She have been mean, cold and shows no emotions at all. That was new. Ballerina have been very close to her, they were like sisters from different mothers even though Ballerina was her master and she was her maid _those titles never came in between their relationship_

But things doesn’t seem right. At all.

“The ministers are here to see you, my princess.” She answered, lowering her gaze to the ground as she fiddle with her fingers.

“The ministers? What for?”

“I don’t know, my princess. But i guess it’s about the throne.” She said.

“Hmm. Tell me I will be right there.” Ballerina said to her, walking away.

Heather stared after Ballerina for a while before shrugging and walking away.

????BALLERINA????

Ballerina stared at her reflection on the mirror, taking in her appearance. She was wearing a blue royal gown, a black flat shoe and she had put up her hair in a ponytail. She applied a light make up.

She let out a de-ep breath, straighten her gown, she grabbed her phone then walked out of the room.

She descended the flight of stairs and walked into the meeting chamber, the ministers stood up to their feet and bowed their heads as soon as she walked in.

Ballerina walked towards the chair that was beside the throne and sat down.

“Seat.” She commanded. They all sat down. “I never called for a meeting so why exactly are you all here?” She asked.

“My princess,” One of the ministers began, getting up to his feet. “Accept my condolences.” He sighed. “But my princess, it’s been twenty years or more since the king died and the throne have been vacant. What do you intend to do, my princess? The people are asking questions and are also wondering what’s going on.”

“My princess,” Another minister stood up to his feet. “We knew about your predicament and the reason why you couldn’t ascend the throne but luckily for us, you’ve regained your sight… so what’s keeping you now?”

Ballerina stayed quiet. She haven’t thought about the throne since she regained consciousness and her sight.

She doesn’t even know whether or not she’s ready to ascend the throne and rule the kingdom.

Honestly, she is mostly concern about her aunt and parents’ case to even think about anything. And besides if she ascend the throne now then she won’t be able to concentrate on the investigation because of how busy she will be with the responsibility of being a queen.

Now, the question here was, what does she intend to do now?

“My_”

“Enough.” She cut off the minister that was going to talk. She sighed. “I’ve heard everything you all had to say. And yes, I will do everything within my power to protect the kingdom and the throne. But first, I have to deal with something very important before I can ascend the throne.”

“What? My princess that won’t be a very good idea.” They all said in unison, aside from one of them.

Ballerina gaze shifted to him. “What do you think, minister…”

“Mark.” He said, standing up to his feet. “My princess,” He bowed his head in respect. “I have no right to question you or your authority but I’m quite confuse, what is this you want to do that’s very important to you than the throne?”

She knew it. She knew he was the one with the sense and that’s why she gave him the opportunity to voice out his thought.

“It’s personal but I promise to deal with it soon and take over.” She stood up to her feet, every one of them rose to their feet as well. “The meeting has come to an end.” She said.

Ballerina walked out of the chamber and was making her way to the stairs when Heather came to her.

“My princess.” She bowed her head. “How did it go?”

“Why do you care? It’s not like it’s any of your business so tell me, why do you care?” She raised a questioning brow at her.

“I…i…” She suddenly dropped on her knees. “I’m sorry, my princess. If I’ve ever done something wrong, please forgive me.” She pleaded.

“What? Why are you pleading?” Ballerina asked.

“I don’t know, my princess. But it seems like I’ve done something wrong to you. You don’t talk to me like you always use to, you always give me those cold stare. I’m sure I did something wrong and that’s why you are acting this way towards me.”

“You tell me, Heather. Did you do anything wrong to me?”

Heather stayed quiet for a while before shaking her head. “None that I can remember of, my princess.”

“That’s it.” Ballerina said then slowly bend down in front of Heather. “Have you found your necklace?”

“My necklace?” Heather questioned.

“Yeah.”

“Yes, my princess.” Heather answered, showing Ballerina the necklace around her neck.

“Wait, what?” Ballerina questioned as her eyes went wide. She thought the necklace she found in her aunt’s room was for Heather but how come Heather have another with her?

“Is everything alright, my princess?” Heather asked in concern.

Ballerina stood upright. “I… where did you find it?”

“In my room. I found it just yesterday.”

Ballerina clears her throat. “Stand up and continue with whatever you have to do.” She said before walking away.

????PAULO????

“The number is unavailable. We tried tracking it but we couldn’t. Seems like the sim was destroyed.” Liam said.

“Run, detective, Run! Does this mean they want to kill you?” Kat asked.

Paulo took a gulp from the can of beer, letting out a de-ep breath. “I don’t know. But whatever they intend to do won’t stop me from investigating.”

“What do you want to do now, detective?” Like asked now.

Paulo didn’t say anything for a while. “We need to go back to the past, guys.” He said after a moment of silence.

“Back to the past? What do you mean?” Liam asked.

“We keep investigating on the present… on what’s going on around but we didn’t investigate on the most important place.”

“Uh… Am I the only one confuse here?” Kat questioned.

“Definitely not!” Liam said.

Paulo repositioned himself on the chair. “Listen, when a murder takes place in a school and then the police is called over, where will the police go to first?”

“The school, of course.” Kat replied.

“Why?”

“Well obviously because that’s where the murder took place. And there will be something there that might help discover the…” She gasp. “I get what you meant now.”

“Thank God for that.” Paulo leaned back to this seat.

“So you want us to go back to the crime scene of fifteen years ago?” Liam asked

“Exactly. I heard the park closed down after the incident. Which means everything that happened that night is still intact unless the murderer have gone there to clear every thing.”

“And what if we can’t find anything?”

“What if we can? Listen, there must be something there that will help us with the puzzle. There is something we are missing and either Mr James have it or it is still there.”

????UNKNOWN????

“If Ace and Ballerina becomes friends then everything will be ruined. We can’t let that happen. I can’t let that happen.”

“So what should we do then?”

“Use their weaknesses against them. And oh, I think Ballerina will need a new maid to trust since her other maid can’t be trusted anymore.”

“A new maid you mean me?”

“Exactly. You.”

“I’m always ready, boss.”

“This is going to get more fun.”

“But wait, what about Ace?”

“Leave him to me.”

????PAULO????

Paulo hoped into the car, turned on the ignition and drove away from the station. He turned the steering wheel to the left direction and was driving along the busy road.

His phone started ringing, he took out his wireless earpiece and connected it to his phone before answering the call.

“Ballerina.” He acknowledge.

“Where are you, Paulo?” She asked.

“On my way home, why?”

“Send me your address, I’m coming over now.”

#To Be Continued…

Question: what can you say about Heather now? Do you think we judge her wrongly by suspecting her? Besides, it’s not like she lost her necklace in the first place.
