I frowned “seriously?”
“it’s not about that” he explained “Lucas found a record in Nathans pocket it was recording before he was murdered”
I was shocked “a record was found?”
“yes and we hope to track his killer throu-gh it” dad replied and left
I paced about impatiently in my room. I was worried cause the record was found and it would be easy to recognize my voice as the killer’s.

I sat on my be-d, waiting patiently for the computer boy to s£nd the record. It was alre-ady late in the night so resolved to pla-ying video games to keep awake. When I couldn’t hold it again, he sle-pt off.
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I sleepily wipe my eyes and answered the call without checking the caller’s ID

I arrived at the outSk-irt of town and there was only one building. I parked my car and got down.
one knock on the door, it flung open
“Hi” Dawn giggled
“Remember me?”
“yeah Jennifer’s b©yfri£nd”
I smiled at her reply
“do come in” she stepped aside and I walked in
“have a seat”
I studied around before sitting on an armchair

“I’ll go get it” Dawn got up and headed for the door

“my baby” the woman grinned ruffling her hair

I inhaled “What would be your fate if Lugard Stein finds out you’ve been with his lost daughter all these while?”

“Listen” I began “Lugard lost his only child when she was 3 and the child in question has been un-der your roof for the past 18 years”
His eyes wi-de-ned in shock

He adjusted in his seat “she’s not my child”

“Nathan brou-ght her to me but he did mention she was Lugard’s daughter, he told us that he adopted her for us because we didn’t have a child and we were to poor to adopt”
“Lugard has been childless for the past 18 years except for his adopted daughter who he camouflaged as K” I explained
“am so sorry”
“it’s okay the law has nothing against you as long as you cooperate and explain things to Dawn I’ll be back by this time tomorrow” I said and got up
“you got my loyalty” he said then we shook hands and I left.
I drove straight to Lugard’s house and told him everything but I was sure no one was around.
Not even K– she’s a suspect but I dare not tell Lugard.

“Where’s she now?” he asked enthusiastically
“Her parents has to speak with her first” I replied

AT THE MANSION 🏡
I sat alone with James while Alex was in the sitting room with Jennifer.
Everyone had to call me Regan though they unintentionally call me Tyson and Jennifer doesn’t fail to grasp it.
Joanna alre-ady returned but she wouldn’t tell anyone where she went. I don’t even trust her again.
“You can’t be serious about this” James said when I told him of Keith not being K but Dawn
“it sounds absurd but it’s true I can’t even believe it myself” I said with my eyes fixed on Jennifer
I felt jealous seeing her having fun with Alex
“What are you going to do now?”
“Ask Dawn to be my wife” I replied snappily
“Is that going to be possible when you can’t take your eyes off Jennifer” James said tea-singly then I shifted my gaze to him
“What do you mean?”
he chuckled “we’ve been talking here but your eyes has been over there” he pointed to Jennifer
“Am just trying to ensure she’s okay and…”
“we both know Alex doesn’t bite”
I scoffed and my eyes shifted to Jennifer again
“she’s beautiful and nice it’s not a crime if you like her” James said
“you’re crazy James” I chuckled “you know I don’t do that crazy stuff”
“you’ll have to prove it” James dared then got up and walked up to where Jennifer and Alex sat.
I sat still and watched him as he pu-ll-ed Jennifer to her feet and sat down in her place and sat her on his l@ps.
I swallowed and looked away. I have to prove to James that Jennifer doesn’t affect me.
I unconsciously glanced at their direction and he was tracing his f!ngersdown her cheek while she giggled crazily.
I huffed loudly and looked away. Their images appeared in my head then I started drumming my f!ngerson the table.
I started hearing Jennifer giggling loudly and I looked at their direction. James was tickling her on her sides.
I breathed in walked out.
“I love you James” I heard Jennifer squeal
I returned immediately with a baton and walked up to them.
“Jennifer” I sneered ” Get up”
“what’s your problem Regan?” James laughed still tickling Jennifer
“Am gonna beat your as-s out” I threatened but they didn’t bulge
“you’re a disturbance Mr Cruse” Jennifer frowned then got up and I quic-kly punched 👊 James
“Told ya men” he spat out tou-ching the sp©t I punched him
“you’re doomed” I said and walked out dragging Jennifer along

“I hope they don’t run away with her” Lugard said during the drive to Dawn’s house
“we’ll find them” I said and faced the wheel
I was behind the steering but somehow I prayed that Dawn wasn’t K. I’ve been searching for her all these years but I don’t want her to be Dawn.
The only person I want is Jennifer.
We got to the building and alighted from the car.
“let’s have faith” I smiled to Lugard and knocked on the door.
Dawn’s mum, Martha opened the door
“come in” she said sadly and stepped aside
We walked inside the sitting room and Dawn sat on a chair crying while her dad bowed his head sadly. Guess they told her the truth.
Lugard looked at her and smiled. He was fighting the urge to pu-ll her into a hvg.
“Detective” Mr Harcourt stretched out his hand for a handshake and I accepted it
“Mr Stein” He called and they shook hands too
“Am so sorry for what I…”
“it’s okay” Lugard cut in “it wasn’t your fault”
I glanced at Dawn again. I can’t believe she’s K

“I suggest a DNA” I said
“It’s not relevant now” Lugard said
He’s so happy he found his daughter but God knows I hate this
“I ask for just one day with her before she leaves” Martha pleaded
I glanced at Lugard and he nodded in approval
We arranged a welcome back p@rty before leaving. Lugard suggested it as a way to showing K to the world and re-opening KLS. Keith is gonna go wild.

I watched Regan as he strolled into the restaurant. The light was dim. I rose to greet him, I extended my hand for a handshake but as I expected he ignored me and sat down.
“what do you want?” he asked sternly
“I want a bargain”
he chuckled “what would you want from me?”
“it’s about Dawn” he replied and he gave me a level stare
“and Jennifer” I added
“what about them?”
“Keith isn’t K”
“it’s old news” I yawned in boredom
he chuckled “you never cease to amaze me”
“I have important stuffs to do detective” he said in haughty disdain
I kinda wonder why Regan hates me.
We didn’t have any differences in the past
“If you know about that then you should know K is betrothed to me”
his eyes wi-de-ned in disbelief
“it’s a good thing you don’t know about that” I chuckled “now the truth is that Dawn is K…”
“which means you’re betrothed to Dawn” he completed
“you’re smart” I commended “but I don’t want her I want Jennifer”
His stare bec@m£ ha-rd and fierce but he said nothing
I went on “I know you’re into Dawn and everyone nee-ds the company but am not greedy for that all I want is Jennifer
My bargain is quiet simple, I cancel my engagement to Dawn and you take it while I have Jennifer
