EMMA POV
I limped into the study,Hoping to see Brian there but he was no where to be found
I went out of the study only to hear some one voice at the balcony.
Could it be Brian? I thought as I went there,Hoping it would be him
I got to balcony and saw him there and he was on the phone.
I noticed that some thing was wrong because of the expression he had on his face.
I was about calling out to him when I saw some one up stairs,Holding a glas-s vase and I was sure that he was going to drop it on Brian.
quic-kly I ran towards him,putting pressure on my injured feet, Though it hurts but Brian safety was more important.
Immediately I shoved him fout of harm’s way, The glas-s vase fell and shattered into pieces.
I layed on the floor with Brian holding unto me.
We were like that for a while,Even after the vase had been broken
I stared at him and saw him starring back at me,It was the pain coming from my feet that got me moving.
“What is it?”He asked as he stood up
“It hurts a lot,It hurts so much”I said holding unto my injured feet
“If you knew that it was going to hurt you so much,Why did you run in here to safe me? You could have been injured too! ” He said
“Your Highness,Is every thing okay” Five guards run in at the same time
“Does it look like we are okay! Where were you all when She c@m£ out with her injured feet?”He yelled at the guards and they all bowed their head in guilt
“We are sorry your Highness”Andrew who was the chief of security apologised
“I was almost killed right now and if it wasn’t for her,I would have been dead!”He yelled at them.
“Just let it go Brian”I said holding his arm
He was so angry,Maybe he is angry because of his guards incompetence or maybe he was angry because I had put myself in danger just to save him
“Instead of shouting at them,Let them help me to my room”I said wanting to cool the atmosphere a bit
Andrew walked towards us and bent down wanting to carry me but the angry look he got from Brian made him st©p and before I knew it, I was in Brian arms.
“One of your guards can take me to my room”
“And risk having you injured again,Hell no”He said and I was quiet until we got to my room.
He put me on the be-d and brou-ght out his phone to call the doctor
As soon as the call was made,He stood there starring at me
“What is it?”I asked
“You’ve saved me once again ”
“Oh,That,You don’t have to thank me,I just happen to be pas-sing by and then I saw you and…….”
“I wasn’t thanking you”
“You weren’t?”
“I was only stating a fact,A fact which I find to be odd”
“What do you mean by odd?”I asked
“Why is it that the two times that my life have been threatened,You are always there protecting me”
Is this it! Will he find out the truth now? I thought feeling nervous and agitated
I couldn’t answer because the phone beside my be-d rang breaking the silence that had erupted after he asked that question
I picked it up and when I heard the person voice I bec@m£ more nervous than ever
“I had told you not to meddle!!!”Micheal yelled at me
I stared at Brian who was starring at my reaction
“This is not a good time to talk,I will call you back “I said
“Is he there with you?”Micheal asked
“Yes he is”I replied
“Now listen if you dare say a thing to him,I w…… ”
“I know what you will do okay! So st©p thre………. I will call you later”I said and cut the call
“Who was that?”Brian asked
“No one”
“Are you sure?”He asked
“Yes I am and plea-se Brian st©p questioning me,I would like to be alone now”I said ending what ever discussion we were having before
I layed on the pillow,Pretending to be asleep and I thought he had left not until I heard him say
“If there is any thing or any one bothering you just tell me about it, Whatever it might be,I will be willing to listen” The door closing behind him was the indication that showed that he has left the room
If only it were that simple, Once he finds out that am not the real Dora but a fake,He will surely hand me over to the cops before he listen to my reasons,Am never going to tell him,Never.
NINA POV
I was in the kitchen preparing Dora food, The glas-s vase incident has been the talk of every one in the palace
Brian life had been threatened and Dora had saved him once again
It’s some thing I should be feeling grateful for but I don’t know why I keep on feeling uneasy about it
A while ago Brian had called me into his study, I had thought that it was because he wanted to see me just as he always did before but the only conversation we had was about Dora
“She is injured Nina,I want you to give her your utmost attention”He had said
“But she is being taken care of by her parents and other maid”I said
“I know but and am sure that Dora wouldn’t want those people with her,From what have seen between you two,I notice that she is more comfortable around you”
“What If am not comfortable around her”I asked
“You might not be now but you will be later on, All am just asking is that you take care of Dora”He replied
“Why do I feel that you asking me to take care of her is very important to you?”I asked
“Yes it’s very important! We both know that without her there can never be us,She is our only source to happiness and if she is hurt we will be losing a great deal”He said as-suring me that his feelings wasnt getting tangled around Dora Baxter.
And I hope it stays that way, Brian is mine and I won’t let any one take him from me, I thought as I prepared the food.
“Ahhhh…….The issue with his Highness bride to be is really wearing me out” Mary a maid working in the palace said as she walked in
“Why do you say that?”I asked
“His Highness is so worried about her,He had gotten up to five maid to serve her alone and with her over bearing mother there,It’s really frustrating”Mary said
“His Highness got Five maid to serve her?”I asked
“Yes he did, Even the queen doesn’t have up to five maid serving her”
“She is sick and the scare they both got this morning made her injury worse”
“More like his Highness is going nuts about his new bride to be”Mary said gently
“What do you mean by that?” I asked
“Its what ever one is saying,We all believe that his Highness is falling for his new bride”She said and the plate I had in my hands fell on the floor
“Hey did that shock you? Don’t be so shocked,We all think it’s a good thing, From the rumours that have been going around,His Highness and lady Dora don’t want the wedding but due to some thing we don’t know they have to marry each other” Mary continued talking
I bent to pick up the plate that had fallen from my hand
“You know it would be good if they really fall for each other,They would be a perfect match and am sure that their children would be as………..”
“Enough of your nons-en-se!”I yelled at her angrily and she st©pped talking
“I don’t want to hear any more of your darn gossips,So it’s best that you shut up”I said to her and continued my work
“Whatever”She muttered behind me before leaving the kitchen
Fall for each other! That will not happen cause I won’t let it.
No one will steal Brian love from me,I won’t let it happen,I thought angrily.
EMMA POV
“There is no nee-d to have the maid here”I told Dora mom who insist on putting two maids in the room to watch over me
“But there is? What if those bastards come in,It’s their job to protect you,So they should stay here”She said
“You two can leave,I will take care of myself”I said to the two tired maid whom had been harrrased all day by Dora mom
The girls left the room before she could st©p them
“Really? There are times that I wonder if you are truly my daughter”She said angrily
Well am not your daughter and you won’t ever see your daughter because she is dead,I thought sadly
There was a knock on the door and Nina walked in bringing my food
“You shouldn’t have bothered”I said giving her a smile
“Its her job,She should be bothered”Dora mom retorted before leaving the room
“She is just so unbearable at times”I said to Nina
If I would have a maid here it would be Nina,I feel more comfortable with her and I don’t even know why.
“I made this soup for you,Eat it while it’s h0t”She said looking a bit worried
“I sure will”I replied smiling at a her,A smile which I noticed that she didn’t return.
While I ate,Nina stood by the window starring outside
I kept on wondering what was wrong with her,She is the sort who talks a lot but today she is quite different
“what’s wrong Nina?”I asked
“Tell me some thing, Do you like Brian ?”she asked and the food which I had been chewing was spilled out of my mouth
“What?”
“You heard me right ! Do you feel any thing for Brian”She asked again
Episode 18
EMMA POV
“why are you suddenly asking me that?”I asked
“I just want to know,You once c@m£ to me before, Saying you wanted Brian all for yourself and now you are saying you don’t want him and that you are going to help the two of us to stay together but am beginning to doubt that” She said
“Now let’s make one thing clear Nina,I don’t like nor do I love Brian and you can be as-sured that he loves you”
“So tell me! What do you really feel for him ”
“Nothing okay! What I feel for Brian is nothing,To me he is some one who I made a deal with and am sure that he thinks of me the same way”
“Is that really true?” She asked
“Yes it is, You can doubt me but don’t doubt Brian, If he is being considerate towards me it’s only because of you, He ru-bs it in my face all the time,The only one he loves is you”I said
Those words c@m£ out easily but why do I feel strange after saying it
Its the truth after all, Brian is not in love with me and why that thought cause a bit of pain Is unknown to me
“Oh am sorry,Am sorry for mistrusting you and Brian “She said as she c@m£ to sit on the be-d holding my hand
“Its no problem Nina,I know that this is ha-rd for you but I can as-sure you that at the end of it all,You will be with the man you love”I said to her and she gave me a smile.
BRIAN POV
“Has he talked yet?”I asked Andrew as I waited for his reply on the man that threw the vase at me
He had been caught while trying to escape the palace and has been held in our custody but the bastard won’t say a thing.
He won’t tell us who s£nt him and that really is pissing me off.
“He won’t say any thing,Even if we beat him to death,He won’t spill a thing your Highness”Andrew said
“Why don’t we just hand him over to the cops,They will know how to make him talk” He added
“No,Not yet,I will do the interrogation myself”I said walking out of the room
“I don’t think that is a good idea your Highness”
“I want to know who is threatening my life,I won’t sit back and let them succeed”
Knowing it was a lost battle,Andrew followed me silently
We got to the storage room and I went in, He had been put on a chair all tied up,Looking bloody and dirty.
On seeing me he smiled “So his Highness finally showed up, Have been expecting you a while ago”He said
“Really? And why would you?”I asked
“To see your face for the very last time”He said
“But why would you see my face for the last time,You won’t be dying soon”
He laughed before starring at me again “And who told you that am talking about me,Am talking about you,Very soon you will die and we won’t be seeing your face”He said and was rewarded with a punch by one of my guards.
“Why are you so sure that I will die?”I asked
“Your death is in his hands, Very soon you won’t be able to escape and he will surely kill you”
“Who is this person you are talking about?”
“Do you think that I will tell you?”
“You will have to tell me who it is!”I said
“NEVER!!!”
“There is only one option left! I didn’t want to use it but you leave me no choice”I said
“There is nothing you can use against me,You can’t use a thing to make me talk”
“What about your family! I believe that right now as we are speaking,My guards are at your house holding your wife and kids hostage”
“That’s a lie!”he yelled at me
“Andrew!”I called and he brou-ght out his phone and did a video call,Showing the man his wife and kids
“You leave them alone,They don’t have any thing to do with this!”
“Not until you tell me who s£nt you to kill me? Who wants me dead?”
“I can’t tell you! He is a very dangerous man,he will kill me if I talk”
“So you are willing to let your family die in my hands right? I might be a prince but when it comes to protecting myself and also my family,I can be a monster too”I said
“I really can’t tell you! I made a vow and if I break it,They will kill me”He said
“Who will kill you? Look am re-ady to protect you and your family only if you co operate”
“Now tell me who he is?”
“I don’t really know his name but I know that they call him THE BOSS”
“THE BOSS, Tell me more”
“From the little I heard while staying with his men,I know that he is some one rich and he married a powerful person and also he has some one in the palace working for him”
“Some one in the palace? Who?”
“I don’t know the name but I know that she is a girl”
“This will be ha-rd ! There are lot of female maid in the palace,How will we ever find her your Highness”Andrew asked
“I can identify her,I saw her once,Even though it was once I know that I can never forget that face because she is very beautiful”He said suddenly
“Good then,Andrew get all the female maid re-ady,I want to know who has the guts to spy on me in my own home”I said looking so very angry.
EMMA POV
I woke up after a long,Sweet dream,There was no one in the room and I nee-ded to have some water
I got out of be-d, Limping to the door to call out to the guards when I heard their conversation
“I nee-d to go down stairs”I heard one of them say
“What’s wrong?” The other asked
“The prince has a man with him who can identify a spy who lives in the palace, They nee-d as much help as possible”He said
“Okay,You can go,I will stay here to watch over lady Dora”The other guard said .
I stood against the door feeling shocked and nervous
They found a spy and the man can identify the person,If he sees me then he will surely know that it’s me, I thought
I nee-d to do some thing,I nee-d to call Micheal,He got me into this,He has to get me out of it,I thought as I took the telephone
On the third ring Micheal picked the call “Am a very busy person,You can’t be calling me when ever you want,So it’s best that you say what ever you have to say before I lose my patience and cut the call”He said to me
“I think I will be found out”I said
“What? Found out?”
“Yes,The man you s£nt to kill Brian has been captured”
“I told the fool not to get caught!”he said angrily
“But He has been caught and now he has told them that there is a spy in the house and as of now,Brian has asked all the female maid to come out so he can identify who the spy is,He will surely know that it’s me”I said
“Calm down,There is no way that Brian would suspect you”
Just then the door opened and Nina walked in
“Sorry to disturb you Dora but His Highness has asked that you join him downstairs”
“Join? Why?”I asked
“We have a spy amongst us and he wants all the female in the house to be pres£nt”
“All the female? Does he think am a spy too”I asked
“It isn’t that,He just wants to be sure,Even Your Mom was checked,She is so furious now”Nina added
“But I can’t,My foot?”I said
“Don’t worry about that,A wheel chair is being brou-ght up stairs,All you have to do is to get re-ady”She said and went out of the room
“Did you hear that Micheal,All the female in the house are being checked and now have been asked to come down too,What if he recognise me, Your plans will be ruined and I will be s£nt to jail”I said
“Just take it easy,Nothing will happen”He said
“Easy for you to say”I retorted angrily
“I will be s£nding one of my men there”
“To do what?”
“To take you away from the palace,The only thing we can do right now is for you to leave that place until I know how to handle this situation”He said
“And how will you handle it?”
“Leave that to me,All you have to do is to get out of that house and as soon as possible”He said and hang up the phone.
I quic-kly changed my clothes and took the necessary things I nee-d, Taking one of the crutches,I used it to get downstairs and luckily for me,No one saw me.
Instead of going throu-gh the room that will lead me to the entrance,I went throu-gh the back door and out into the garden and while doing all this no one saw me.
I got out of the back gate and then into the car that was waiting for me feeling save, But unknown to me Andrew had seen me leave.
BRIAN POV
“She is not the one”He said again and again and again
For the past hour now we have been searching for the spy amongst the female workers but nothing and it’s becoming frustrating.
“Is this every one?”I asked my guards
“Well ap@rt from Lady Dora and the maid Nina,Every one is pres£nt”One of my guard answered
“Why isn’t Dora and the maid here?”I asked
“I saw lady Dora leaving the palace a while ago”Andrew said
“But where is she going to?”I asked
“I don’t know,I didn’t follow her because I had to be here with you”He replied
“What about The maid?”I asked
“She is no where to be found”He replied
What’s happening? Why can’t Dora and Nina be located.
Could there be a reason behind it? I thought……..
DORA POV
It was late in the Evening that I returned to the palace with Nina behind me.
By now every thing would have been back to normal,I thought as I opened the gate and walked in with Nina
“They are back!”Some one said and immediately the guards ran to us
“What’s going on”I asked
“We have been searching for both you and The maid” Andrew said coming towards us
Just then Brian walked into our midst along with the man who tried to kill him earlier
I stood shocked,Why is he still here? I thought feeling scared
“Where have the two of you been?”He asked starring at me
“I…… I went for a wal………..”
“She is the…….she is the one”The man yelled pointing at me or was it at……………..Nina
